Hebrew title for the book of Ecclesiastes, translated “the Preacher” or “the Teacher”; also spelled “Koheleth.” Derived from a word meaning “to call an assembly,” it came to mean “to address an assembly.” The author of the book calls himself Qoheleth in numerous passages. See Ecclesiastes, Book of.
