Mother Rachel’s Sorrow for her Exiled Children

15 Hark! there echoes through Ramah,

Lament and bitter weeping:

’Tis Rachel bewailing her children,

And refusing to be comforted,

Because they are no more.

16 Thus saith Jehovah:

Restrain thy voice from weeping,

And keep thine eyes from tears;

For thy work shall have its reward,

From the land of the foe shall thy children return.

17 There is hope for thy coming days,

Thy children shall return.
