BAAL-HERMON

Hivite territory in Transjordan near Mt Hermon, not captured in the Israelite conquest. It was one of the regions God wanted to use to test the younger generation of Israel (Jgs 3:1-6). Baal-hermon may refer to a place on the mountain. It seems to be another name for Baal-gad (Jos 13:5).

See also Hermon, Mount.
