SAKKUTH

Name of the Babylonian Saturn, an astral deity in Mesopotamian religion (Am 5:26). Some suggest that Sakkuth reflects a corruption of sukkah, meaning “shrine” (niv) or “tabernacle” (KJB), within which an image would be placed. See Kaiwan.
