1 וַֽיְהִי֙ [3] Pashta אַֽחֲרֵי־כֵ֔ן [2] Zaqef אֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים [2] Tip'cha וַיַּכְנִיעֵ֑ם [1] Etnachta אֶת־גַּ֥ת וּבְנֹתֶ֖יהָ [2] Tip'cha מִיַּ֥ד פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
1 After this, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines. [3] |

2 וַיַּ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha אֶת־מוֹאָ֑ב [1] Etnachta עֲבָדִ֣ים לְדָוִ֔יד [2] Zaqef מִנְחָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
2 He defeated Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute. [2] |

3 David defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah to Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates. [3] |

4 וַיִּלְכֹּד֩ דָּוִ֨יד מִמֶּ֜נּוּ [4] Geresh אֶ֣לֶף רֶ֗כֶב [3] Revi'i פָּרָשִׁ֔ים [2] Zaqef אִ֣ישׁ רַגְלִ֑י [1] Etnachta אֶת־כׇּל־הָרֶ֔כֶב [2] Zaqef מֵ֥אָה רָֽכֶב׃ [1] Silluq |
4 David took from him one thousand chariots, seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them enough for one hundred chariots. [4] |

5 When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck twenty-two thousand men of the Syrians. [3] |

6 וַיָּ֤שֶׂם דָּוִיד֙ [3] Pashta בַּאֲרַ֣ם דַּרְמֶ֔שֶׂק [2] Zaqef לְדָוִ֔יד [2] Zaqef נֹשְׂאֵ֣י מִנְחָ֑ה [1] Etnachta לְדָוִ֔יד [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
6 Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. The LORD gave victory to David wherever he went. [3] |

7 וַיִּקַּ֣ח דָּוִ֗יד [3] Revi'i אֵ֚ת [3] Yetiv שִׁלְטֵ֣י הַזָּהָ֔ב [2] Zaqef עַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha עַבְדֵ֣י הֲדַדְעָ֑זֶר [1] Etnachta יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ [1] Silluq |
7 David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. [3] |

8 וּמִטִּבְחַ֤ת וּמִכּוּן֙ [3] Pashta עָרֵ֣י הֲדַדְעֶ֔זֶר [2] Zaqef נְחֹ֖שֶׁת [2] Tip'cha רַבָּ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד [1] Etnachta עָשָׂ֣ה שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה [3] Revi'i וְאֶת־הָֽעַמּוּדִ֔ים [2] Zaqef כְּלֵ֥י הַנְּחֹֽשֶׁת׃ [1] Silluq פ |
8 From Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took very much bronze, with which Solomon made the bronze sea, the pillars, and the vessels of bronze. ¶ [3] |

9 וַיִּשְׁמַ֕ע [2] ZaqefG תֹּ֖עוּ [2] Tip'cha מֶ֣לֶךְ חֲמָ֑ת [1] Etnachta הִכָּ֣ה דָוִ֔יד [2] Zaqef הֲדַדְעֶ֥זֶר מֶלֶךְ־צוֹבָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
9 When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah, [2] |

10 וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח אֶת־הֲדֽוֹרָם־בְּנ֣וֹ אֶל־הַמֶּֽלֶךְ־דָּ֠וִ֠יד [4 4] TelishaG *לשאול **לִשְׁאׇל־ל֨וֹ לְשָׁל֜וֹם [4] Geresh וּֽלְבָרְכ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i וַיַּכֵּ֔הוּ [2] Zaqef מִלְחֲמ֥וֹת תֹּ֖עוּ [2] Tip'cha הָיָ֣ה הֲדַדְעָ֑זֶר [1] Etnachta כְּלֵ֛י [3] Tevir זָהָ֥ב וָכֶ֖סֶף [2] Tip'cha וּנְחֹֽשֶׁת׃ [1] Silluq |
10 he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to Greet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him (for Hadadezer had wars with Tou); and he had with him all kinds of vessels of gold and silver and bronze. [4 4] |

11 גַּם־אֹתָ֗ם [3] Revi'i הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ דָּוִיד֙ [3] Pashta לַֽיהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef וְהַזָּהָ֔ב [2] Zaqef מִכׇּל־הַגּוֹיִ֑ם [1] Etnachta וּמִבְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֔וֹן [2] Zaqef וּמֵעֲמָלֵֽק׃ [1] Silluq |
11 King David also dedicated these to the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations; from Edom, from Moab, from the children of Ammon, from the Philistines, and from Amalek. [3] |

12 וְאַבְשַׁ֣י בֶּן־צְרוּיָ֗ה [3] Revi'i הִכָּ֤ה אֶת־אֱדוֹם֙ [3] Pashta בְּגֵ֣יא הַמֶּ֔לַח [2] Zaqef אָֽלֶף׃ [1] Silluq |
12 Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah struck eighteen thousand of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt. [3] |

13 וַיָּ֤שֶׂם בֶּאֱדוֹם֙ [3] Pashta נְצִיבִ֔ים [2] Zaqef עֲבָדִ֣ים לְדָוִ֑יד [1] Etnachta אֶת־דָּוִ֔יד [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
13 He put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. The LORD gave victory to David wherever he went. ¶ [3] |

14 וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ דָּוִ֖יד [2] Tip'cha עַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta עֹשֶׂ֛ה [3] Tevir מִשְׁפָּ֥ט וּצְדָקָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לְכׇל־עַמּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
14 David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness for all his people. [2] |

15 וְיוֹאָ֥ב בֶּן־צְרוּיָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha עַל־הַצָּבָ֑א [1] Etnachta מַזְכִּֽיר׃ [1] Silluq |
15 Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; [2] |

16 וְצָד֧וֹק בֶּן־אֲחִיט֛וּב [3] Tevir וַאֲבִימֶ֥לֶךְ בֶּן־אֶבְיָתָ֖ר [2] Tip'cha כֹּהֲנִ֑ים [1] Etnachta סוֹפֵֽר׃ [1] Silluq |
16 Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; Shavsha was scribe; [3] |

17 וּבְנָיָ֙הוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta בֶּן־יְה֣וֹיָדָ֔ע [2] Zaqef וְהַפְּלֵתִ֑י [1] Etnachta לְיַ֥ד הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ [1] Silluq פ |
17 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief officials serving the king. ¶ [3 3] |
