1 וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ [3] Tevir יְהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט בְּנ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha תַּחְתָּ֑יו [1] Etnachta עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq |
1 Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place, and strengthened himself against Israel. [3] |

2 וַיִּ֨תֶּן־חַ֔יִל [2] Zaqef בְּכׇל־עָרֵ֥י יְהוּדָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha הַבְּצֻר֑וֹת [1] Etnachta בְּאֶ֣רֶץ יְהוּדָ֔ה [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֥ר לָכַ֖ד [2] Tip'cha אָסָ֥א אָבִֽיו׃ [1] Silluq |
2 He placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken. [2] |

3 The LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and didn’t seek the Baals, [2] |

4 but sought the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not in the ways of Israel. [4] |

5 וַיָּ֨כֶן יְהֹוָ֤ה אֶת־הַמַּמְלָכָה֙ [3] Pashta בְּיָד֔וֹ [2] Zaqef מִנְחָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לִיהֽוֹשָׁפָ֑ט [1] Etnachta לָרֹֽב׃ [1] Silluq |
5 Therefore the LORD established the kingdom in his hand. All Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had riches and honor in abundance. [3] |

6 וַיִּגְבַּ֥הּ לִבּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha בְּדַרְכֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta הֵסִ֛יר [3] Tevir אֶת־הַבָּמ֥וֹת וְאֶת־הָאֲשֵׁרִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha מִיהוּדָֽה׃ [1] Silluq פ |
6 His heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD. Furthermore, he took away the high places and the Asherah poles out of Judah. [2] |

7 וּבִשְׁנַ֨ת שָׁל֜וֹשׁ [4] Geresh לְמׇלְכ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i לְבֶן־חַ֙יִל֙ [3 3] Pashta וּלְעֹבַדְיָ֣ה וְלִזְכַרְיָ֔ה [2] Zaqef וּלְמִיכָיָ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta בְּעָרֵ֥י יְהוּדָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
7 Also in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, even Ben Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah; [4] |

8 וְעִמָּהֶ֣ם הַלְוִיִּ֗ם [3] Revi'i וּנְתַנְיָ֡הוּ [4] Pazer וּזְבַדְיָ֡הוּ [4] Pazer וַעֲשָׂהאֵ֡ל [4] Pazer *ושמרימות **וּשְׁמִירָמ֡וֹת [4] Pazer וִיהוֹנָתָן֩ וַאֲדֹ֨נִיָּ֧הוּ וְטוֹבִיָּ֛הוּ [3] Tevir אֱלִישָׁמָ֥ע וִיהוֹרָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha הַכֹּהֲנִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
8 and with them the Levites, even Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests. [3] |

9 וַֽיְלַמְּדוּ֙ [3] Pashta בִּיהוּדָ֔ה [2] Zaqef סֵ֖פֶר [2] Tip'cha תּוֹרַ֣ת יְהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta בְּכׇל־עָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה [2] Zaqef בָּעָֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
9 They taught in Judah, having the book of the LORD’s law with them. They went about throughout all the cities of Judah and taught among the people. [3] |

10 וַיְהִ֣י ׀ [4] Legarmeh פַּ֣חַד יְהֹוָ֗ה [3] Revi'i כׇּל־מַמְלְכ֣וֹת הָאֲרָצ֔וֹת [2] Zaqef סְבִיב֣וֹת יְהוּדָ֑ה [1] Etnachta עִם־יְהוֹשָׁפָֽט׃ [1] Silluq |
10 The fear of the LORD fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat. [4] |

11 וּמִן־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֗ים [3] Revi'i מְבִיאִ֧ים לִיהוֹשָׁפָ֛ט [3] Tevir מִנְחָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha וְכֶ֣סֶף מַשָּׂ֑א [1] Etnachta מְבִיאִ֥ים לוֹ֙ [3] Pashta צֹ֕אן [2] ZaqefG שִׁבְעַ֤ת אֲלָפִים֙ [3] Pashta וּשְׁבַ֣ע מֵא֔וֹת [2] Zaqef שִׁבְעַ֥ת אֲלָפִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha וּשְׁבַ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq פ |
11 And some of the Philistines [3] brought to Jehoshaphat [3] tribute [2] and gifts of silver; [1] brought to him [3] flocks, [2] seven thousand [3] and seven hundred, [2] seven thousand [2] and seven hundred. [1] ¶ |

12 וַיְהִ֧י יְהוֹשָׁפָ֛ט [3] Tevir הֹלֵ֥ךְ וְגָדֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha עַד־לְמָ֑עְלָה [1] Etnachta בִּירָנִיּ֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha וְעָרֵ֥י מִסְכְּנֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq |
12 Jehoshaphat grew great exceedingly; and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah. [3] |

13 וּמְלָאכָ֥ה רַבָּ֛ה [3] Tevir הָ֥יָה ל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha בְּעָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה [1] Etnachta גִּבּ֥וֹרֵי חַ֖יִל [2] Tip'cha בִּירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ [1] Silluq |
13 He had many works in the cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valor, in Jerusalem. [3] |

14 וְאֵ֥לֶּה פְקֻדָּתָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha לְבֵ֣ית אֲבוֹתֵיהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta שָׂרֵ֣י אֲלָפִ֔ים [2] Zaqef ס גִּבּ֣וֹרֵי חַ֔יִל [2] Zaqef אָֽלֶף׃ [1] Silluq ס |
14 This was the numbering of them according to their fathers’ houses: From Judah, the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valor; [2] |

15 and next to him Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred eighty thousand; [2] |

16 וְעַל־יָדוֹ֙ [3] Pashta עֲמַסְיָ֣ה בֶן־זִכְרִ֔י [2] Zaqef לַיהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta מָאתַ֥יִם אֶ֖לֶף [2] Tip'cha גִּבּ֥וֹר חָֽיִל׃ [1] Silluq ס |
16 and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to the LORD, and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor. [3] |

17 וּמִ֨ן־בִּנְיָמִ֔ן [2] Zaqef גִּבּ֥וֹר חַ֖יִל [2] Tip'cha אֶלְיָדָ֑ע [1] Etnachta נֹשְׁקֵי־קֶ֥שֶׁת וּמָגֵ֖ן [2] Tip'cha מָאתַ֥יִם אָֽלֶף׃ [1] Silluq ס |
17 From Benjamin: Eliada, a mighty man of valor, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield; [2] |

18 וְעַל־יָד֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha יְהוֹזָבָ֑ד [1] Etnachta מֵאָה־וּשְׁמוֹנִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף [2] Tip'cha חֲלוּצֵ֥י צָבָֽא׃ [1] Silluq ס |
18 and next to him Jehozabad, and with him one hundred eighty thousand ready and prepared for war. [2] |

19 These were those who waited on the king, in addition to those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Judah. ¶ [2] |
