1 2 2 3 2 Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. [2]

1 2 3 4 2 2 3 Moab was very afraid of the people, because they were many. Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel. [4]

בָּעֵ֥ת הַהִֽוא׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 3 4 3 4 2 2 2 3 4 Moab said to the elders of Midian, “Now this multitude will lick up all that is around us, as the ox licks up the grass of the field.” ¶Balak the son of Zippor was king of Moab at that time. [4]

Behold, they cover the surface of the earth, and they are staying opposite me. [4]

אֵ֤ת אֲשֶׁר־תְּבָרֵךְ֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta

וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר תָּאֹ֖ר [2] Merkha Tip'cha
יוּאָֽר׃ [1] Silluq

לְהִלָּ֥חֶם בּ֖וֹ [2] Merkha Tip'cha
וְגֵרַשְׁתִּֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 3 3 2 3 11 ‘Behold, the people that has come out of Egypt covers the surface of the earth. Now, come curse them for me. Perhaps I shall be able to fight against them, and shall drive them out.’ ” ¶ [3]

1 2 2 2 15 Balak again sent princes, more, and more honorable than they. [2]

כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta

מֵהֲלֹ֥ךְ אֵלָֽי׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 2 3 3 2 16 They came to Balaam, and said to him, “Balak the son of Zippor says, ‘Please let nothing hinder you from coming to me, [2]

וְכֹ֛ל [3] Tevir
אֲשֶׁר־תֹּאמַ֥ר אֵלַ֖י [2] Merkha Tip'cha

וּלְכָה־נָּא֙ [3] Pashta
קָֽבָה־לִּ֔י [2] Zaqef

וַיִּתְיַצֵּ֞ב [4] Gershayim

לְשָׂטָ֣ן ל֑וֹ [1] Munach Etnachta

רֹכֵ֣ב עַל־אֲתֹנ֔וֹ [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וּשְׁנֵ֥י נְעָרָ֖יו [2] Merkha Tip'cha

1 2 3 2 3 4 2 3 2 22 God’s anger burned because he went; and the LORD’s angel placed himself in the way as an adversary against him. Now he was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him. [3]

הַדָּֽרֶךְ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 3 2 3 2 2 3 2 23 The donkey saw the LORD’s angel standing in the way, with his sword drawn in his hand; and the donkey turned out of the path, and went into the field. Balaam struck the donkey, to turn her into the path. [4]

1 2 3 2 2 24 Then the LORD’s angel stood in a narrow path between the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side. [3]
25 וַתֵּ֨רֶא הָאָת֜וֹן [4] Qadma Geresh

וַתִּלָּחֵץ֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־הַקִּ֔יר [2] Zaqef

אֶת־רֶ֥גֶל בִּלְעָ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha
אֶל־הַקִּ֑יר [1] Etnachta

לְהַכֹּתָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 3 2 3 2 25 The donkey saw the LORD’s angel, and she thrust herself to the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall. He struck her again. ¶ [4]

אֵֽין־דֶּ֥רֶךְ לִנְט֖וֹת [2] Merkha Tip'cha
יָמִ֥ין וּשְׂמֹֽאול׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 3 26 The LORD’s angel went further, and stood in a narrow place, where there was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left. [2]

וַתִּרְבַּ֖ץ [2] Tip'cha

וַיִּֽחַר־אַ֣ף בִּלְעָ֔ם [2] Munach Zaqef
וַיַּ֥ךְ אֶת־הָאָת֖וֹן [2] Merkha Tip'cha
בַּמַּקֵּֽל׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 2 27 The donkey saw the LORD’s angel, and she lay down under Balaam. Balaam’s anger burned, and he struck the donkey with his staff. ¶ [3]

1 2 2 3 2 2 28 The LORD opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?” ¶ [2]

אֶת־עֵינֵ֣י בִלְעָם֒ [2] Munach Segol

אֶת־מַלְאַ֤ךְ יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
נִצָּ֣ב בַּדֶּ֔רֶךְ [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וְחַרְבּ֥וֹ שְׁלֻפָ֖ה [2] Merkha Tip'cha

וַיִּקֹּ֥ד וַיִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ [2] Merkha Tip'cha
לְאַפָּֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

כִּֽי־יָרַ֥ט הַדֶּ֖רֶךְ [2] Merkha Tip'cha
לְנֶגְדִּֽי׃ [1] Silluq

וַתֵּ֣ט לְפָנַ֔י [2] Munach Zaqef
זֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
שָׁלֹ֣שׁ רְגָלִ֑ים [1] Munach Etnachta

נָטְתָ֣ה מִפָּנַ֔י [2] Munach Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י עַתָּ֛ה [3] Merkha Tevir
גַּם־אֹתְכָ֥ה הָרַ֖גְתִּי [2] Merkha Tip'cha
וְאוֹתָ֥הּ הֶחֱיֵֽיתִי׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

כִּ֣י בָ֣א בִלְעָ֑ם [1] Munach Munach Etnachta
 
וַיֵּצֵ֨א לִקְרָאת֜וֹ [4] Qadma Geresh

עַל־גְּב֣וּל אַרְנֹ֔ן [2] Munach Zaqef

בִּקְצֵ֥ה הַגְּבֽוּל׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

1 2 2 39 Balaam went with Balak, and they came to Kiriath Huzoth. [2]
40 וַיִּזְבַּ֥ח בָּלָ֖ק [2] Merkha Tip'cha
בָּקָ֣ר וָצֹ֑אן [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וַיְשַׁלַּ֣ח לְבִלְעָ֔ם [2] Munach Zaqef
וְלַשָּׂרִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתּֽוֹ׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 2 2 40 Balak sacrificed cattle and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes who were with him. [2]

וַיִּקַּ֤ח בָּלָק֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
אֶת־בִּלְעָ֔ם [2] Zaqef

בָּמ֣וֹת בָּ֑עַל [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וַיַּ֥רְא מִשָּׁ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha
קְצֵ֥ה הָעָֽם׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 2 41 In the morning, Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal; and he saw from there part of the people. ¶ [2]
