וְנַעְבְּרָה֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־מַצַּ֣ב פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
מֵעֵ֣בֶר הַלָּ֑ז [1] Etnachta
 
וּלְאָבִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֥א הִגִּֽיד׃ [1] Silluq

and let us pass over [3]
to the garrison of the Philistines [2]

he didn’t tell. [1]

and the name of the other [2]

the LORD will work [2]

For the LORD has no [3]
limitation, [2]
 
to save by many [2]
or by few.” [1]

אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq

“Behold, [3]
we are about to pass over [2]
to the men; [1]
 
and we will reveal ourselves [2]
to them. [1]
9 אִם־כֹּ֤ה יֹֽאמְרוּ֙ [3] Pashta
אֵלֵ֔ינוּ [2] Zaqef
 
דֹּ֕מּוּ [2] ZaqefG
עַד־הַגִּיעֵ֖נוּ [2] Tip'cha
אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וְעָמַ֣דְנוּ תַחְתֵּ֔ינוּ [2] Zaqef
וְלֹ֥א נַעֲלֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha

‘Wait [2]

עֲל֤וּ עָלֵ֙ינוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta

כִּֽי־נְתָנָ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha

וְזֶה־לָּ֖נוּ [2] Tip'cha

וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
הִנֵּ֤ה עִבְרִים֙ [3] Pashta
יֹֽצְאִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
מִן־הַחֹרִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִתְחַבְּאוּ־שָֽׁם׃ [1] Silluq

to the garrison [2]
of the Philistines; [1]
 
and the Philistines said, [2]
 
“Behold, the Hebrews [3]
are coming out [2]
 
from the holes [2]
where they have hidden themselves!” [1]
12 וַיַּעֲנוּ֩ אַנְשֵׁ֨י הַמַּצָּבָ֜ה [4] Geresh
אֶת־יוֹנָתָ֣ן ׀ [4] Legarmeh
וְאֶת־נֹשֵׂ֣א כֵלָ֗יו [3] Revi'i
 
וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ [3] Pashta

וְנוֹדִ֥יעָה אֶתְכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha

for the LORD has given them [2]
into the hand of Israel.” [1]

before Jonathan, [2]
 
with his armor bearer [2]

הַמַּכָּ֣ה הָרִאשֹׁנָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
 
אֲשֶׁ֨ר הִכָּ֧ה יוֹנָתָ֛ן [3] Tevir
וְנֹשֵׂ֥א כֵלָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
 
כְּעֶשְׂרִ֣ים אִ֑ישׁ [1] Etnachta
 
כְּבַחֲצִ֥י מַעֲנָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
צֶ֥מֶד שָׂדֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq

the first slaughter [3]
 
which Jonathan struck down [3]
with his armor bearer, [2]
 
about twenty men; [1]
 
in about half a furrow’s length [2]
in an acre of land. [1]
15 וַתְּהִי֩ חֲרָדָ֨ה בַמַּחֲנֶ֤ה בַשָּׂדֶה֙ [3] Pashta
וּבְכׇל־הָעָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
הַמַּצָּב֙ [3] Pashta
וְהַמַּשְׁחִ֔ית [2] Zaqef
 
חָרְד֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
גַּם־הֵ֑מָּה [1] Etnachta
 
וַתִּרְגַּ֣ז הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef
וַתְּהִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
לְחֶרְדַּ֥ת אֱלֹהִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

and among all the people. [2]
 
The garrison [3]
and the raiders, [2]
 
they trembled, [2]
they also; [1]
 
and the earth quaked, [2]
so it became [2]
an exceedingly great trembling. [1]
16 וַיִּרְא֤וּ הַצֹּפִים֙ [3] Pashta

they melted away [2]

פִּקְדוּ־נָ֣א וּרְא֔וּ [2] Zaqef

הָלַ֣ךְ מֵעִמָּ֑נוּ [1] Etnachta
 
וַֽיִּפְקְד֔וּ [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִנֵּ֛ה [3] Tevir

וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ הָל֖וֹךְ [2] Tip'cha

the tumult [3]

was in the camp of the Philistines [2]
 
went on [2]

“Withdraw your hand!” [1]
20 וַיִּזָּעֵ֣ק שָׁא֗וּל [3] Revi'i
וְכׇל־הָעָם֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ [2] Tip'cha
עַד־הַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וְהִנֵּ֨ה הָיְתָ֜ה [4] Geresh
חֶ֤רֶב אִישׁ֙ [3] Pashta
בְּרֵעֵ֔הוּ [2] Zaqef
 
מְהוּמָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
גְּדוֹלָ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃ [1] Silluq

סָבִ֑יב [1] Etnachta
 
וְגַם־הֵ֗מָּה [3] Revi'i
לִֽהְיוֹת֙ [3] Pashta

וַֽיַּדְבְּק֥וּ גַם־הֵ֛מָּה [3] Tevir

who had hidden themselves in the hill country of Ephraim, [3 3]
they heard [2]
 
that they had fled, [2]
the Philistines; [1]
 
and they, they also, followed hard [3]
after them [2]

אָר֣וּר הָ֠אִ֠ישׁ [4 4] TelishaG

So none of the people tasted [2]

they went into the forest; [1]
 
there was honey [2]
on the ground. [1]
26 וַיָּבֹ֤א הָעָם֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־הַיַּ֔עַר [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִנֵּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
הֵ֣לֶךְ דְּבָ֑שׁ [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֵין־מַשִּׂ֤יג יָדוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־פִּ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
כִּֽי־יָרֵ֥א הָעָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־הַשְּׁבֻעָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

a flowing of honey; [1]
 
but no one put his hand [3]
to his mouth, [2]
 
for the people feared [2]

בְּהַשְׁבִּ֣יעַ אָבִיו֮ [3] Zarqa

נֵרְדָ֣ה אַחֲרֵי֩ פְלִשְׁתִּ֨ים ׀ לַ֜יְלָה [4] Geresh
וְֽנָבֹ֥זָה בָהֶ֣ם ׀ [4] Legarmeh
עַד־א֣וֹר הַבֹּ֗קֶר [3] Revi'i
 
וְלֹֽא־נַשְׁאֵ֤ר בָּהֶם֙ [3] Pashta

כׇּל־הַטּ֥וֹב בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha

וְלֹ֥א עָנָ֖הוּ [2] Tip'cha
בַּיּ֥וֹם הַהֽוּא׃ [1] Silluq

הַחַטָּ֥את הַזֹּ֖את [2] Tip'cha

הַמּוֹשִׁ֙יעַ֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֧י אִם־יֶשְׁנ֛וֹ [3] Tevir
בְּיוֹנָתָ֥ן בְּנִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
כִּ֣י מ֣וֹת יָמ֑וּת [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֵ֥ין עֹנֵ֖הוּ [2] Tip'cha

וַֽאֲנִי֙ [3] Pashta

וַיִּלָּכֵ֧ד יוֹנָתָ֛ן [3] Tevir
וְשָׁא֖וּל [2] Tip'cha
וְהָעָ֥ם יָצָֽאוּ׃ [1] Silluq

to the LORD, [3]
the God of Israel, [2]
“Show who is blameless.” [1]
 
And Jonathan was chosen by lot [3]
with Saul, [2]
but the people escaped. [1]

הַפִּ֕ילוּ [2] ZaqefG

And he was chosen by lot, [2]

וַיַּגֶּד־ל֣וֹ יוֹנָתָ֗ן [3] Revi'i
 
וַיֹּ֩אמֶר֩ טָעֹ֨ם טָעַ֜מְתִּי [4] Geresh
בִּקְצֵ֨ה הַמַּטֶּ֧ה אֲשֶׁר־בְּיָדִ֛י [3] Tevir

הִנְנִ֥י אָמֽוּת׃ [1] Silluq

for with God he has worked [2]
this day!” [1]
 
So the people redeemed [3]
Jonathan, [2]
and he didn’t die. [1]
