חָנ֥וּ בַאֲפֵֽק׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 2 3 4 3 2 1 The word of Samuel came to all Israel. ¶Now Israel went out against the Philistines to battle, and encamped beside Ebenezer; and the Philistines encamped in Aphek. [2]

וַיַּכּ֤וּ בַמַּֽעֲרָכָה֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
כְּאַרְבַּ֥עַת אֲלָפִ֖ים [2] Merkha Tip'cha
אִֽישׁ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 3 2 2 3 2 2 The Philistines put themselves in array against Israel. When they joined battle, Israel was defeated by the Philistines, who killed about four thousand men of the army in the field. [4]

וְיָבֹ֣א בְקִרְבֵּ֔נוּ [2] Munach Zaqef
וְיֹשִׁעֵ֖נוּ [2] Tip'cha
מִכַּ֥ף אֹיְבֵֽינוּ׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

Let’s get the ark of the LORD’s covenant out of Shiloh and bring it to us, that it may come among us and save us out of the hand of our enemies.” ¶ [3]

וּפִֽינְחָֽס׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 3 2 3 4 3 2 4 So the people sent to Shiloh, and they brought from there the ark of the covenant of the LORD of Hosts, who sits above the cherubim; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God. [3]

1 2 3 3 2 2 5 When the ark of the LORD’s covenant came into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth resounded. [3]

אֶל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 3 4 2 2 3 2 6 When the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they said, “What does the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews mean?” They understood that the LORD’s ark had come into the camp. [3]

1 2 3 2 2 2 3 2 3 7 The Philistines were afraid, for they said, “God has come into the camp.” They said, “Woe to us! For there has not been such a thing before. [3]

הָאֱלֹהִ֥ים הָאַדִּירִ֖ים [2] Merkha Tip'cha

אֵ֧לֶּה הֵ֣ם הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים [3] Darga Munach Revi'a
הַמַּכִּ֧ים אֶת־מִצְרַ֛יִם [3] Darga Tevir
בְּכׇל־מַכָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 3 2 3 3 8 Woe to us! Who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty gods? These are the gods that struck the Egyptians with all kinds of plagues in the wilderness. [2]

וִֽהְי֤וּ לַֽאֲנָשִׁים֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta

וִהְיִיתֶ֥ם לַאֲנָשִׁ֖ים [2] Merkha Tip'cha
וְנִלְחַמְתֶּֽם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 2 3 2 2 9 Be strong and behave like men, O you Philistines, that you not be servants to the Hebrews, as they have been to you. Strengthen yourselves like men, and fight!” [4]

וַיָּנֻ֙סוּ֙ [3] Pashta
אִ֣ישׁ לְאֹהָלָ֔יו [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וַתְּהִ֥י הַמַּכָּ֖ה [2] Merkha Tip'cha
גְּדוֹלָ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וַיִּפֹּל֙ [3] Pashta

רַגְלִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 3 3 2 2 3 2 10 The Philistines fought, and Israel was defeated, and each man fled to his tent. There was a very great slaughter; for thirty thousand footmen of Israel fell. [3]

1 2 2 3 2 11 God’s ark was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain. ¶ [2]
12 וַיָּ֤רׇץ אִישׁ־בִּנְיָמִן֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
מֵהַמַּ֣עֲרָכָ֔ה [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וַיָּבֹ֥א שִׁלֹ֖ה [2] Merkha Tip'cha
בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וּמַדָּ֣יו קְרֻעִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef
וַאֲדָמָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
עַל־רֹאשֽׁוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 2 12 A man of Benjamin ran out of the army and came to Shiloh the same day, with his clothes torn and with dirt on his head. [3]

1 2 2 2 2 15 Now Eli was ninety-eight years old. His eyes were set, so that he could not see. [2]

וַיִּפֹּ֣ל מֵֽעַל־הַ֠כִּסֵּ֠א [4] Munach TelishaG

בְּעַ֣ד ׀ [4] Munach Legarmeh
יַ֣ד הַשַּׁ֗עַר [3] Munach Revi'a
 
וַתִּשָּׁבֵ֤ר מַפְרַקְתּוֹ֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
וַיָּמֹ֔ת [2] Zaqef
 
כִּֽי־זָקֵ֥ן הָאִ֖ישׁ [2] Merkha Tip'cha
וְכָבֵ֑ד [1] Etnachta
 
וְה֛וּא [3] Tevir
שָׁפַ֥ט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Merkha Tip'cha
אַרְבָּעִ֥ים שָׁנָֽה׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 3 4 4 3 4 4 4 3 2 2 3 18 When he made mention of God’s ark, Eli fell from off his seat backward by the side of the gate; and his neck broke, and he died, for he was an old man and heavy. He had judged Israel forty years. ¶ [4]

הָרָ֣ה לָלַת֒ [2] Munach Segol
 
וַתִּשְׁמַ֣ע אֶת־הַשְּׁמוּעָ֗ה [3] Munach Revi'a
אֶל־הִלָּקַח֙ [3] Pashta
אֲר֣וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וּמֵ֥ת חָמִ֖יהָ [2] Merkha Tip'cha
וְאִישָׁ֑הּ [1] Etnachta
 
וַתִּכְרַ֣ע וַתֵּ֔לֶד [2] Munach Zaqef
כִּֽי־נֶהֶפְכ֥וּ עָלֶ֖יהָ [2] Merkha Tip'cha
צִרֶֽיהָ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 3 2 2 2 19 And his daughter-in-law the wife of Phinehas [3]
was pregnant to give birth, [2]
 
and when she heard the report [3]
of the taking [3]
of the ark of God, [2]
 
and he had died, her father-in-law [2]
and her husband; [1]
 
she bowed down and she gave birth, [2]
for they came on her, [2]
her pains. [1]

וַתְּדַבֵּ֙רְנָה֙ [3] Pashta
הַנִּצָּב֣וֹת עָלֶ֔יהָ [2] Munach Zaqef
 
אַל־תִּֽירְאִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
כִּ֣י בֵ֣ן יָלָ֑דְתְּ [1] Munach Munach Etnachta
 
וְלֹ֥א עָנְתָ֖ה [2] Merkha Tip'cha
וְלֹא־שָׁ֥תָה לִבָּֽהּ׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 3 3 2 2 20 About the time of her death the women who stood by her said to her, “Don’t be afraid, for you have given birth to a son.” But she didn’t answer, neither did she regard it. [3]
21 וַתִּקְרָ֣א לַנַּ֗עַר [3] Munach Revi'a

לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
גָּלָ֥ה כָב֖וֹד [2] Merkha Tip'cha

אֶל־הִלָּקַח֙ [3] Pashta
אֲר֣וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וְאֶל־חָמִ֖יהָ [2] Tip'cha
וְאִישָֽׁהּ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 3 2 2 3 2 21 She named the child Ichabod, saying, “The glory has departed from Israel!” because God’s ark was taken, and because of her father-in-law and her husband. [3]
