1 After this, David struck the Philistines and subdued them; and David took the bridle of the mother city out of the hand of the Philistines. [3] |

2 וַיַּ֣ךְ אֶת־מוֹאָ֗ב [3] Revi'i וַֽיְמַדְּדֵ֤ם בַּחֶ֙בֶל֙ [3 3] Pashta הַשְׁכֵּ֣ב אוֹתָ֣ם אַ֔רְצָה [2] Zaqef לְהָמִ֔ית [2] Zaqef לְהַחֲי֑וֹת [1] Etnachta לְדָוִ֔ד [2] Zaqef נֹשְׂאֵ֥י מִנְחָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
2 He struck Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute. [3] |

3 David struck also Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his dominion at the River. [2] |

4 וַיִּלְכֹּ֨ד דָּוִ֜ד [4] Geresh מִמֶּ֗נּוּ [3] Revi'i פָּרָשִׁ֔ים [2] Zaqef אִ֣ישׁ רַגְלִ֑י [1] Etnachta אֶת־כׇּל־הָרֶ֔כֶב [2] Zaqef מֵ֥אָה רָֽכֶב׃ [1] Silluq |
4 David took from him one thousand seven hundred horsemen and twenty thousand footmen. David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for one hundred chariots. [4] |

5 When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck twenty two thousand men of the Syrians. [3] |

6 וַיָּ֨שֶׂם דָּוִ֤ד נְצִבִים֙ [3] Pashta בַּאֲרַ֣ם דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק [2] Zaqef לְדָוִ֔ד [2] Zaqef נוֹשְׂאֵ֣י מִנְחָ֑ה [1] Etnachta אֶת־דָּוִ֔ד [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
6 Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. The LORD gave victory to David wherever he went. [3] |

7 וַיִּקַּ֣ח דָּוִ֗ד [3] Revi'i אֵ֚ת [3] Yetiv שִׁלְטֵ֣י הַזָּהָ֔ב [2] Zaqef אֶ֖ל [2] Tip'cha עַבְדֵ֣י הֲדַדְעָ֑זֶר [1] Etnachta יְרֽוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ [1] Silluq |
7 David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. [3] |

8 From Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took a great quantity of bronze. [2] |

9 וַיִּשְׁמַ֕ע [2] ZaqefG תֹּ֖עִי [2] Tip'cha מֶ֣לֶךְ חֲמָ֑ת [1] Etnachta הִכָּ֣ה דָוִ֔ד [2] Zaqef כׇּל־חֵ֥יל הֲדַדְעָֽזֶר׃ [1] Silluq |
9 When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer, [2] |

10 וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח תֹּ֣עִי אֶת־יֽוֹרָם־בְּנ֣וֹ אֶל־הַמֶּֽלֶךְ־דָּ֠וִ֠ד [4 4] TelishaG לִשְׁאׇל־ל֨וֹ לְשָׁל֜וֹם [4] Geresh וּֽלְבָרְכ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i וַיַּכֵּ֔הוּ [2] Zaqef מִלְחֲמ֥וֹת תֹּ֖עִי [2] Tip'cha הָיָ֣ה הֲדַדְעָ֑זֶר [1] Etnachta הָי֛וּ [3] Tevir כְּלֵי־כֶ֥סֶף וּכְלֵי־זָהָ֖ב [2] Tip'cha וּכְלֵ֥י נְחֹֽשֶׁת׃ [1] Silluq |
10 then Toi sent Joram his son to king David, to greet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him; for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. Joram brought with him vessels of silver, vessels of gold, and vessels of bronze. [4 4] |

11 King David also dedicated these to the LORD, with the silver and gold that he dedicated of all the nations which he subdued; [2] |

12 of Syria, of Moab, of the children of Ammon, of the Philistines, of Amalek, and of the plunder of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah. ¶ [3] |

13 וַיַּ֤עַשׂ דָּוִד֙ [3] Pashta שֵׁ֔ם [2] Zaqef מֵהַכּוֹת֥וֹ אֶת־אֲרָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha בְּגֵיא־מֶ֑לַח [1] Etnachta אָֽלֶף׃ [1] Silluq |
13 David earned a reputation when he returned from striking down eighteen thousand men of the Syrians in the Valley of Salt. [3] |

14 וַיָּ֨שֶׂם בֶּאֱד֜וֹם [4] Geresh נְצִבִ֗ים [3] Revi'i שָׂ֣ם נְצִבִ֔ים [2] Zaqef עֲבָדִ֣ים לְדָוִ֑ד [1] Etnachta אֶת־דָּוִ֔ד [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
14 He put garrisons in Edom. Throughout all Edom, he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. The LORD gave victory to David wherever he went. [4] |

15 וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ דָּוִ֖ד [2] Tip'cha עַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta עֹשֶׂ֛ה [3] Tevir מִשְׁפָּ֥ט וּצְדָקָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לְכׇל־עַמּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
15 David reigned over all Israel; and David executed justice and righteousness for all his people. [2] |

17 Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, Seraiah was scribe, [3] |
