	¹דִּבְרֵי֙ [3] Pashta קֹהֶ֣לֶת בֶּן־דָּוִ֔ד [2] Zaqef מֶ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha בִּירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ [1] Silluq		¹The words [3] of Kohelet son of David, [2] king [2] in Jerusalem. [1]
	²הֲבֵ֤ל הֲבָלִים֙ [3] Pashta אָמַ֣ר קֹהֶ֔לֶת [2] Zaqef הֲבֵ֥ל הֲבָלִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha הַכֹּ֥ל הָֽבֶל׃ [1] Silluq		²“Futility of futilities,” [3] says Kohelet, [2] “Futility of futilities, [2] all is futility.” [1]
	³מַה־יִּתְר֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha לָֽאָדָ֑ם [1] Etnachta בְּכׇ֨ל־עֲמָל֔וֹ [2] Zaqef שֶֽׁיַּעֲמֹ֖ל [2] Tip'cha תַּ֥חַת הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃ [1] Silluq		³What is the profit [2] to man; [1] in all his toil [2] which he toils [2] under the sun? [1]
	⁴דּ֤וֹר הֹלֵךְ֙ [3] Pashta וְד֣וֹר בָּ֔א [2] Zaqef וְהָאָ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha לְעוֹלָ֥ם עֹמָֽדֶת׃ [1] Silluq		⁴A generation goes [3] and a generation comes, [2] but the earth [2] remains forever. [1]
	⁵וְזָרַ֥ח הַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ [2] Tip'cha וּבָ֣א הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ [1] Etnachta וְאֶ֨ל־מְקוֹמ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef שׁוֹאֵ֛ף [3] Tevir זוֹרֵ֥חַֽ ה֖וּא [2] Tip'cha שָֽׁם׃ [1] Silluq		⁵And the sun rises [2] and the sun sets; [1] then to its place, [2] hurrying back [3] it (again) rises [2] there. [1]
	⁶הוֹלֵךְ֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־דָּר֔וֹם [2] Zaqef וְסוֹבֵ֖ב [2] Tip'cha אֶל־צָפ֑וֹן [1] Etnachta סוֹבֵ֤ב ׀ סֹבֵב֙ [3] Pashta הוֹלֵ֣ךְ הָר֔וּחַ [2] Zaqef וְעַל־סְבִיבֹתָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha שָׁ֥ב הָרֽוּחַ׃ [1] Silluq		⁶Going [3] to the south, [2] then circling around [2] to the north; [1] around and around [3] goes the wind, [2] and according to its circuits [2] the wind returns. [1]
	⁷כׇּל־הַנְּחָלִים֙ [3] Pashta הֹלְכִ֣ים אֶל־הַיָּ֔ם [2] Zaqef וְהַיָּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha אֵינֶ֣נּוּ מָלֵ֑א [1] Etnachta אֶל־מְק֗וֹם [3] Revi'i שֶׁ֤הַנְּחָלִים֙ [3] Pashta הֹֽלְכִ֔ים [2] Zaqef שָׁ֛ם [3] Tevir הֵ֥ם שָׁבִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha לָלָֽכֶת׃ [1] Silluq		⁷All the rivers [3] flow into the sea, [2] yet the sea [2] is not full; [1] to the place [3] (from) where the rivers [3] flow, [2] there [3] they return [2] to (again) flow. [1]
	⁸כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִ֣ים יְגֵעִ֔ים [2] Zaqef לֹא־יוּכַ֥ל אִ֖ישׁ [2] Tip'cha לְדַבֵּ֑ר [1] Etnachta לֹא־תִשְׂבַּ֥ע עַ֙יִן֙ [3 3] Pashta לִרְא֔וֹת [2] Zaqef וְלֹא־תִמָּלֵ֥א אֹ֖זֶן [2] Tip'cha מִשְּׁמֹֽעַ׃ [1] Silluq		⁸All things are full of weariness [2] that no one can [2] express; [1] the eye is not satisfied [3 3] with seeing, [2] and the ear is not filled [2] with hearing. [1]
	⁹מַה־שֶּֽׁהָיָה֙ [3] Pashta ה֣וּא שֶׁיִּהְיֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef וּמַה־שֶּׁנַּֽעֲשָׂ֔ה [2] Zaqef ה֖וּא [2] Tip'cha שֶׁיֵּעָשֶׂ֑ה [1] Etnachta וְאֵ֥ין כׇּל־חָדָ֖שׁ [2] Tip'cha תַּ֥חַת הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃ [1] Silluq		⁹Whatever has been, [3] it is that which shall be, [2] and whatever has been done, [2] it [2] is that which shall be done; [1] and there is nothing new [2] under the sun. [1]
	¹⁰יֵ֥שׁ דָּבָ֛ר [3] Tevir שֶׁיֹּאמַ֥ר רְאֵה־זֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha חָדָ֣שׁ ה֑וּא [1] Etnachta כְּבָר֙ [3] Pashta הָיָ֣ה לְעֹֽלָמִ֔ים [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha מִלְּפָנֵֽנוּ׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁰Is there anything [3] of which one can say, “Behold this, [2] it is new?” [1] Already [3] it has been in the ages [2] which were [2] before us. [1]
	¹¹אֵ֥ין זִכְר֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha לָרִאשֹׁנִ֑ים [1] Etnachta וְגַ֨ם לָאַחֲרֹנִ֜ים [4] Geresh שֶׁיִּהְי֗וּ [3] Revi'i לֹֽא־יִהְיֶ֤ה לָהֶם֙ [3] Pashta זִכָּר֔וֹן [2] Zaqef עִ֥ם שֶׁיִּהְי֖וּ [2] Tip'cha לָאַחֲרֹנָֽה׃ [1] Silluq פ		¹¹There is no remembrance [2] of the former things; [1] and also of the later things [4] which will be [3] there shall be of them no [3] remembrance, [2] by those that shall come [2] afterwards. [1] ¶
	¹²אֲנִ֣י קֹהֶ֗לֶת [3] Revi'i הָיִ֥יתִי מֶ֛לֶךְ [3] Tevir עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha בִּירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ [1] Silluq		¹²I, Kohelet, [3] I was king [3] over Israel [2] in Jerusalem. [1]
	¹³וְנָתַ֣תִּי אֶת־לִבִּ֗י [3] Revi'i לִדְר֤וֹשׁ וְלָתוּר֙ [3] Pashta בַּֽחׇכְמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef עַ֛ל [3] Tevir כׇּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר נַעֲשָׂ֖ה [2] Tip'cha תַּ֣חַת הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם [1] Etnachta ה֣וּא ׀ [4] Legarmeh עִנְיַ֣ן רָ֗ע [3] Revi'i נָתַ֧ן אֱלֹהִ֛ים [3] Tevir לִבְנֵ֥י הָאָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha לַעֲנ֥וֹת בּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq		¹³And I applied my heart [3] to seek and to search out [3] by wisdom [2] concerning [3] all that is done [2] under the heavens; [1] it [4] is a burdensome task [3] that God has given [3] to the sons of men [2] to be busy with. [1]
	¹⁴רָאִ֙יתִי֙ [3 3] Pashta אֶת־כׇּל־הַֽמַּעֲשִׂ֔ים [2] Zaqef שֶֽׁנַּעֲשׂ֖וּ [2] Tip'cha תַּ֣חַת הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ [1] Etnachta וְהִנֵּ֥ה הַכֹּ֛ל [3] Tevir הֶ֖בֶל [2] Tip'cha וּרְע֥וּת רֽוּחַ׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁴I have seen [3 3] all the works [2] that have been done [2] under the sun; [1] and behold all [3] is futility, [2] and chasing after the wind. [1]
	¹⁵מְעֻוָּ֖ת [2] Tip'cha לֹא־יוּכַ֣ל לִתְקֹ֑ן [1] Etnachta וְחֶסְר֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha לֹא־יוּכַ֥ל לְהִמָּנֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁵That which is crooked, [2] it can’t be made straight; [1] and that which is missing, [2] it can’t be counted. [1]
	¹⁶דִּבַּ֨רְתִּי אֲנִ֤י עִם־לִבִּי֙ [3] Pashta לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef אֲנִ֗י [3] Revi'i הִנֵּ֨ה הִגְדַּ֤לְתִּי וְהוֹסַ֙פְתִּי֙ [3 3] Pashta חׇכְמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef עַ֛ל [3] Tevir כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־הָיָ֥ה לְפָנַ֖י [2] Tip'cha עַל־יְרוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם [1] Etnachta וְלִבִּ֛י [3] Tevir רָאָ֥ה הַרְבֵּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha חׇכְמָ֥ה וָדָֽעַת׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁶I, I spoke with my heart [3] saying, [2] “I, [3] behold, I have become great and I have increased [3 3] wisdom [2] above [3] all who were before me [2] over Jerusalem; [1] and my heart, [3] it has experienced much [2] wisdom and knowledge.” [1]
	¹⁷וָאֶתְּנָ֤ה לִבִּי֙ [3] Pashta לָדַ֣עַת חׇכְמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef וְדַ֥עַת הוֹלֵלֹ֖ת [2] Tip'cha וְשִׂכְל֑וּת [1] Etnachta יָדַ֕עְתִּי [2] ZaqefG שֶׁגַּם־זֶ֥ה ה֖וּא [2] Tip'cha רַעְי֥וֹן רֽוּחַ׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁷And I applied my heart [3] to know wisdom, [2] and to know madness [2] and folly; [1] I learned [2] that this too [2] was a chasing after wind. [1]
	¹⁸כִּ֛י [3] Tevir בְּרֹ֥ב חׇכְמָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha רׇב־כָּ֑עַס [1] Etnachta וְיוֹסִ֥יף דַּ֖עַת [2] Tip'cha יוֹסִ֥יף מַכְאֽוֹב׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁸For [3] in much wisdom [2] is much grief; [1] and one who increases knowledge, [2] he will increase sorrow. [1]
