	¹ט֥וֹב שֵׁ֖ם [2] Tip'cha מִשֶּׁ֣מֶן ט֑וֹב [1] Etnachta וְי֣וֹם הַמָּ֔וֶת [2] Zaqef מִיּ֖וֹם [2] Tip'cha הִוָּלְדֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq		¹A good name [2] is better than precious ointment; [1] and the day of one's death [2] is better than the day [2] of his birth. [1]
	²ט֞וֹב [4] Gershayim לָלֶ֣כֶת אֶל־בֵּֽית־אֵ֗בֶל [3] Revi'i מִלֶּ֙כֶת֙ [3 3] Pashta אֶל־בֵּ֣ית מִשְׁתֶּ֔ה [2] Zaqef בַּאֲשֶׁ֕ר [2] ZaqefG ה֖וּא [2] Tip'cha ס֣וֹף כׇּל־הָאָדָ֑ם [1] Etnachta וְהַחַ֖י [2] Tip'cha יִתֵּ֥ן אֶל־לִבּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq		²Better [4] is to go to a house of mourning [3] than to go [3 3] to a house of feasting, [2] for [2] that [2] is the end of every man; [1] and the living, [2] he will lay (it) to his heart. [1]
	³ט֥וֹב כַּ֖עַס [2] Tip'cha מִשְּׂח֑וֹק [1] Etnachta כִּֽי־בְרֹ֥עַ פָּנִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha יִ֥יטַב לֵֽב׃ [1] Silluq		³Better is grief [2] than laughter; [1] for by sadness of face [2] a heart is made glad. [1]
	⁴לֵ֤ב חֲכָמִים֙ [3] Pashta בְּבֵ֣ית אֵ֔בֶל [2] Zaqef וְלֵ֥ב כְּסִילִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha בְּבֵ֥ית שִׂמְחָֽה׃ [1] Silluq		⁴The heart of the wise [3] is in a house of mourning, [2] but the heart of fools [2] is in a house of mirth. [1]
	⁵ט֕וֹב [2] ZaqefG לִשְׁמֹ֖עַ [2] Tip'cha גַּעֲרַ֣ת חָכָ֑ם [1] Etnachta מֵאִ֕ישׁ [2] ZaqefG שֹׁמֵ֖עַ [2] Tip'cha שִׁ֥יר כְּסִילִֽים׃ [1] Silluq		⁵Better [2] is to listen to [2] the rebuke of the wise; [1] than that one [2] listen to [2] the song of fools. [1]
	⁶כִּ֣י כְק֤וֹל הַסִּירִים֙ [3] Pashta תַּ֣חַת הַסִּ֔יר [2] Zaqef כֵּ֖ן [2] Tip'cha שְׂחֹ֣ק הַכְּסִ֑יל [1] Etnachta וְגַם־זֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha הָֽבֶל׃ [1] Silluq		⁶For like the crackling of thorns [3] under the pot, [2] so [2] is the laughter of the fool; [1] and this too [2] is futility. [1]
	⁷כִּ֥י הָעֹ֖שֶׁק [2] Tip'cha יְהוֹלֵ֣ל חָכָ֑ם [1] Etnachta וִֽיאַבֵּ֥ד אֶת־לֵ֖ב [2] Tip'cha מַתָּנָֽה׃ [1] Silluq		⁷Surely oppression [2] makes the wise man look foolish; [1] and it corrupts the heart, [2] a bribe. [1]
	⁸ט֛וֹב [3] Tevir אַחֲרִ֥ית דָּבָ֖ר [2] Tip'cha מֵֽרֵאשִׁית֑וֹ [1] Etnachta ט֥וֹב אֶֽרֶךְ־ר֖וּחַ [2] Tip'cha מִגְּבַהּ־רֽוּחַ׃ [1] Silluq		⁸Better [3] is the end of a matter [2] than its beginning; [1] better is the patient of spirit [2] than the proud of spirit. [1]
	⁹אַל־תְּבַהֵ֥ל בְּרֽוּחֲךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha לִכְע֑וֹס [1] Etnachta כִּ֣י כַ֔עַס [2] Zaqef בְּחֵ֥יק כְּסִילִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha יָנֽוּחַ׃ [1] Silluq		⁹Do not be hasty in your spirit [2] to become angry; [1] for anger, [2] in the bosom of fools [2] it lodges. [1]
	¹⁰אַל־תֹּאמַר֙ [3] Pashta מֶ֣ה הָיָ֔ה [2] Zaqef שֶׁ֤הַיָּמִים֙ [3] Pashta הָרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים [2] Zaqef הָי֥וּ טוֹבִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha מֵאֵ֑לֶּה [1] Etnachta כִּ֛י [3] Tevir לֹ֥א מֵחׇכְמָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha שָׁאַ֥לְתָּ עַל־זֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁰Do not say, [3] “Why is it [2] that the days [3] the former, [2] they were better [2] than these?” [1] For [3] not from wisdom [2] have you asked about this. [1]
	¹¹טוֹבָ֥ה חׇכְמָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha עִֽם־נַחֲלָ֑ה [1] Etnachta וְיֹתֵ֖ר [2] Tip'cha לְרֹאֵ֥י הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃ [1] Silluq		¹¹Wisdom is good [2] like an inheritance; [1] and is an advantage [2] for those who see the sun. [1]
	¹²כִּ֛י [3] Tevir בְּצֵ֥ל הַֽחׇכְמָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha בְּצֵ֣ל הַכָּ֑סֶף [1] Etnachta וְיִתְר֣וֹן דַּ֔עַת [2] Zaqef הַֽחׇכְמָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha תְּחַיֶּ֥ה בְעָלֶֽיהָ׃ [1] Silluq		¹²For [3] wisdom is a shelter, [2] as money is a shelter; [1] but the advantage of knowledge [2] is that wisdom, [2] it preserves the life of the one who has it. [1]
	¹³רְאֵ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אֶת־מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים [1] Etnachta כִּ֣י מִ֤י יוּכַל֙ [3] Pashta לְתַקֵּ֔ן [2] Zaqef אֵ֖ת [2] Tip'cha אֲשֶׁ֥ר עִוְּתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq		¹³Consider [2] the work of God; [1] for who is able [3] to straighten [2] -- [2] what he has made crooked? [1]
	¹⁴בְּי֤וֹם טוֹבָה֙ [3] Pashta הֱיֵ֣ה בְט֔וֹב [2] Zaqef וּבְי֥וֹם רָעָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha רְאֵ֑ה [1] Etnachta גַּ֣ם אֶת־זֶ֤ה לְעֻמַּת־זֶה֙ [3] Pashta עָשָׂ֣ה הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef עַל־דִּבְרַ֗ת [3] Revi'i שֶׁלֹּ֨א יִמְצָ֧א הָֽאָדָ֛ם [3] Tevir אַחֲרָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha מְאֽוּמָה׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁴In the day of prosperity [3] be joyful, [2] but in the day of adversity [2] consider; [1] the one as well as the other [3] God has made, [2] for the purpose [3] that man may not find out [3] what will be after him, [2] anything. [1]
	¹⁵אֶת־הַכֹּ֥ל רָאִ֖יתִי [2] Tip'cha בִּימֵ֣י הֶבְלִ֑י [1] Etnachta יֵ֤שׁ צַדִּיק֙ [3] Pashta אֹבֵ֣ד בְּצִדְק֔וֹ [2] Zaqef וְיֵ֣שׁ רָשָׁ֔ע [2] Zaqef מַאֲרִ֖יךְ [2] Tip'cha בְּרָעָתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁵All this I have seen [2] in my fleeting days; [1] there is the righteous [3] who perishes in his righteousness, [2] and there is the wicked [2] who lives long [2] in his evildoing. [1]
	¹⁶אַל־תְּהִ֤י צַדִּיק֙ [3] Pashta הַרְבֵּ֔ה [2] Zaqef וְאַל־תִּתְחַכַּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha יוֹתֵ֑ר [1] Etnachta לָ֖מָּה [2] Tip'cha תִּשּׁוֹמֵֽם׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁶Do not be righteous [3] greatly, [2] and do not make yourself wise [2] excessively; [1] why [2] should you ruin yourself? [1]
	¹⁷אַל־תִּרְשַׁ֥ע הַרְבֵּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha וְאַל־תְּהִ֣י סָכָ֑ל [1] Etnachta לָ֥מָּה תָמ֖וּת [2] Tip'cha בְּלֹ֥א עִתֶּֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁷Do not be greatly wicked, [2] and do not be a fool; [1] why should you die [2] before your time? [1]
	¹⁸ט֚וֹב [3] Yetiv אֲשֶׁ֣ר תֶּאֱחֹ֣ז בָּזֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef וְגַם־מִזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אַל־תַּנַּ֣ח אֶת־יָדֶ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta כִּֽי־יְרֵ֥א אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha יֵצֵ֥א אֶת־כֻּלָּֽם׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁸Good (it) is [3] that you should grasp the one, [2] and also from the other [2] you don't withdraw your hand; [1] for the one who fears God, [2] he will escape both extremes. [1]
	¹⁹הַֽחׇכְמָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha תָּעֹ֣ז לֶחָכָ֑ם [1] Etnachta מֵֽעֲשָׂרָה֙ [3] Pashta שַׁלִּיטִ֔ים [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָי֖וּ [2] Tip'cha בָּעִֽיר׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁹Wisdom, [2] it makes the wise strong; [1] more than ten [3] rulers [2] who are [2] in a city. [1]
	²⁰כִּ֣י אָדָ֔ם [2] Zaqef אֵ֥ין צַדִּ֖יק [2] Tip'cha בָּאָ֑רֶץ [1] Etnachta אֲשֶׁ֥ר יַעֲשֶׂה־טּ֖וֹב [2] Tip'cha וְלֹ֥א יֶחֱטָֽא׃ [1] Silluq		²⁰For a man [2] who is righteous there is not [2] on the earth; [1] who does good [2] and he doesn’t sin. [1]
	²¹גַּ֤ם לְכׇל־הַדְּבָרִים֙ [3] Pashta אֲשֶׁ֣ר יְדַבֵּ֔רוּ [2] Zaqef אַל־תִּתֵּ֖ן [2] Tip'cha לִבֶּ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta אֲשֶׁ֛ר [3] Tevir לֹֽא־תִשְׁמַ֥ע אֶֽת־עַבְדְּךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha מְקַלְלֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq		²¹Also to all the words [3] that people say [2] do not give [2] your heart; [1] so [3] you don't hear your servant [2] mocking you, [1]
	²²כִּ֛י [3] Tevir גַּם־פְּעָמִ֥ים רַבּ֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha יָדַ֣ע לִבֶּ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta אֲשֶׁ֥ר גַּם־את *אַתָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha קִלַּ֥לְתָּ אֲחֵרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq		²²for [3] many times also [2] your heart knows; [1] that you too, [2] you have mocked others. [1]
	²³כׇּל־זֹ֖ה [2] Tip'cha נִסִּ֣יתִי בַֽחׇכְמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta אָמַ֣רְתִּי אֶחְכָּ֔מָה [2] Zaqef וְהִ֖יא [2] Tip'cha רְחוֹקָ֥ה מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ [1] Silluq		²³All this [2] I have tested with wisdom; [1] I said “I will be wise,” [2] but it [2] was far from me. [1]
	²⁴רָח֖וֹק [2] Tip'cha מַה־שֶּׁהָיָ֑ה [1] Etnachta וְעָמֹ֥ק ׀ עָמֹ֖ק [2] Tip'cha מִ֥י יִמְצָאֶֽנּוּ׃ [1] Silluq		²⁴Far away, [2] whatever has been; [1] and exceedingly deep, [2] who can find it out? [1]
	²⁵סַבּ֨וֹתִֽי אֲנִ֤י וְלִבִּי֙ [3] Pashta לָדַ֣עַת וְלָת֔וּר [2] Zaqef וּבַקֵּ֥שׁ חׇכְמָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha וְחֶשְׁבּ֑וֹן [1] Etnachta וְלָדַ֙עַת֙ [3 3] Pashta רֶ֣שַׁע כֶּ֔סֶל [2] Zaqef וְהַסִּכְל֖וּת [2] Tip'cha הוֹלֵלֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq		²⁵I turned, I and my heart, [3] to know and to examine, [2] and to seek wisdom [2] and an explanation; [1] and to know [3 3] wickedness to be stupidity, [2] and folly [2] to be madness. [1]
	²⁶וּמוֹצֶ֨א אֲנִ֜י [4] Geresh מַ֣ר מִמָּ֗וֶת [3] Revi'i אֶת־הָֽאִשָּׁה֙ [3] Pashta אֲשֶׁר־הִ֨יא מְצוֹדִ֧ים וַחֲרָמִ֛ים [3] Tevir לִבָּ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha אֲסוּרִ֣ים יָדֶ֑יהָ [1] Etnachta ט֞וֹב [4] Gershayim לִפְנֵ֤י הָאֱלֹהִים֙ [3] Pashta יִמָּלֵ֣ט מִמֶּ֔נָּה [2] Zaqef וְחוֹטֵ֖א [2] Tip'cha יִלָּ֥כֶד בָּֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq		²⁶And I find [4] more bitter than death, [3] the woman, [3] who snares and nets [3] her heart is, [2] chains are her hands; [1] one who is pleasing [4] before God, [3] he shall escape from her, [2] but the sinner, [2] he will be captured by her. [1]
	²⁷רְאֵה֙ [3] Pashta זֶ֣ה מָצָ֔אתִי [2] Zaqef אָמְרָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha קֹהֶ֑לֶת [1] Etnachta אַחַ֥ת לְאַחַ֖ת [2] Tip'cha לִמְצֹ֥א חֶשְׁבּֽוֹן׃ [1] Silluq		²⁷“Look, [3] this I have discovered” [2] said [2] Kohelet; [1] “adding one thing to another [2] to find out the scheme, [1]
	²⁸אֲשֶׁ֛ר [3] Tevir עוֹד־בִּקְשָׁ֥ה נַפְשִׁ֖י [2] Tip'cha וְלֹ֣א מָצָ֑אתִי [1] Etnachta אָדָ֞ם [4] Gershayim אֶחָ֤ד מֵאֶ֙לֶף֙ [3 3] Pashta מָצָ֔אתִי [2] Zaqef וְאִשָּׁ֥ה בְכׇל־אֵ֖לֶּה [2] Tip'cha לֹ֥א מָצָֽאתִי׃ [1] Silluq		²⁸which [3] my soul still seeks, [2] but I have not found; [1] a man, [4] one among a thousand [3 3] I have found, [2] but a woman among all these [2] I have not found. [1]
	²⁹לְבַד֙ [3] Pashta רְאֵה־זֶ֣ה מָצָ֔אתִי [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשָׂ֧ה הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים [3] Tevir אֶת־הָאָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha יָשָׁ֑ר [1] Etnachta וְהֵ֥מָּה בִקְשׁ֖וּ [2] Tip'cha חִשְּׁבֹנ֥וֹת רַבִּֽים׃ [1] Silluq		²⁹Only [3] look this I have discovered, [2] that God made [3] mankind [2] upright; [1] but they, they have sought out [2] many schemes.” [1]
