1 מִ֚י [3] Yetiv
כְּהֶ֣חָכָ֔ם [2] Zaqef

וּמִ֥י יוֹדֵ֖עַ [2] Tip'cha
פֵּ֣שֶׁר דָּבָ֑ר [1] Etnachta

חׇכְמַ֤ת אָדָם֙ [3] Pashta
תָּאִ֣יר פָּנָ֔יו [2] Zaqef

וְעֹ֥ז פָּנָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
יְשֻׁנֶּֽא׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 3 2 1 Who [3]
is like the wise, [2]

and who knows [2]
the interpretation of a matter? [1]

The wisdom of a man, [3]
it makes his face shine, [2]

and the hardness of his face, [2]
it is changed. [1]
2 אֲנִי֙ [3] Pashta
פִּי־מֶ֣לֶךְ שְׁמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef

וְעַ֕ל [2] ZaqefG
דִּבְרַ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
שְׁבוּעַ֥ת אֱלֹהִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 2 2 I (say), [3]
“Keep the king’s command!” [2]

and that [2]
because of [2]
the oath of God. [1]
3 אַל־תִּבָּהֵ֤ל מִפָּנָיו֙ [3] Pashta
תֵּלֵ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef

אַֽל־תַּעֲמֹ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
בְּדָבָ֣ר רָ֑ע [1] Etnachta

כִּ֛י [3] Tevir
כׇּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר יַחְפֹּ֖ץ [2] Tip'cha
יַעֲשֶֽׂה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 3 3 Do not be hasty from his presence [3]
to go out, [2]

do not stand up [2]
for an evil cause; [1]

because [3]
whatever he desires, [2]
he will do. [1]
4 בַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר דְּבַר־מֶ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha
שִׁלְט֑וֹן [1] Etnachta

וּמִ֥י יֹֽאמַר־ל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
מַֽה־תַּעֲשֶֽׂה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 4 Since the word of a king [2]
is supreme; [1]

who can say to him, [2]
“What are you doing?” [1]
5 שׁוֹמֵ֣ר מִצְוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
לֹ֥א יֵדַ֖ע [2] Tip'cha
דָּבָ֣ר רָ֑ע [1] Etnachta

וְעֵ֣ת וּמִשְׁפָּ֔ט [2] Zaqef
יֵדַ֖ע [2] Tip'cha
לֵ֥ב חָכָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 2 5 Whoever obeys a command, [2]
he shall not experience [2]
harm; [1]

and the proper time and manner [2]
it will discern, [2]
a wise heart. [1]
6 כִּ֣י לְכׇל־חֵ֔פֶץ [2] Zaqef
יֵ֖שׁ [2] Tip'cha
עֵ֣ת וּמִשְׁפָּ֑ט [1] Etnachta

כִּֽי־רָעַ֥ת הָאָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
רַבָּ֥ה עָלָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 6 For to every matter [2]
there [2]
is a proper time and manner; [1]

though the trouble of man [2]
is heavy on him. [1]
7 כִּֽי־אֵינֶ֥נּוּ יֹדֵ֖עַ [2] Tip'cha
מַה־שֶּׁיִּֽהְיֶ֑ה [1] Etnachta

כִּ֚י [3] Yetiv
כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר יִֽהְיֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef

מִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
יַגִּ֥יד לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 7 If he doesn’t know [2]
what will be; [1]

then [3]
when it will be, [2]

who [2]
can tell him? [1]
8 אֵ֣ין אָדָ֞ם [4] Gershayim
שַׁלִּ֤יט בָּר֙וּחַ֙ [3 3] Pashta
לִכְל֣וֹא אֶת־הָר֔וּחַ [2] Zaqef

וְאֵ֤ין שִׁלְטוֹן֙ [3] Pashta
בְּי֣וֹם הַמָּ֔וֶת [2] Zaqef

וְאֵ֥ין מִשְׁלַ֖חַת [2] Tip'cha
בַּמִּלְחָמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta

וְלֹֽא־יְמַלֵּ֥ט רֶ֖שַׁע [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־בְּעָלָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 2 3 2 2 8 There is not a man [4]
with power over the wind [3 3]
to restrain the wind, [2]

and not with power [3]
over the day of death, [2]

and discharge is not granted [2]
during battle; [1]

so wickedness cannot deliver [2]
those who practice it. [1]
9 אֶת־כׇּל־זֶ֤ה רָאִ֙יתִי֙ [3 3] Pashta
וְנָת֣וֹן אֶת־לִבִּ֔י [2] Zaqef

לְכׇֽל־מַעֲשֶׂ֔ה [2] Zaqef
אֲשֶׁ֥ר נַעֲשָׂ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
תַּ֣חַת הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ [1] Etnachta

עֵ֗ת [3] Revi'i
אֲשֶׁ֨ר שָׁלַ֧ט הָאָדָ֛ם [3] Tevir
בְּאָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לְרַ֥ע לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 2 3 3 9 All this I have seen [3 3]
and I have applied my mind [2]

to every work [2]
that is done [2]
under the sun; [1]

a time [3]
when a man has power [3]
over a man [2]
to his hurt. [1]
10 וּבְכֵ֡ן [4] Pazer
רָאִ֩יתִי֩ רְשָׁעִ֨ים קְבֻרִ֜ים [4] Geresh
וָבָ֗אוּ [3] Revi'i

וּמִמְּק֤וֹם קָדוֹשׁ֙ [3] Pashta
יְהַלֵּ֔כוּ [2] Zaqef

וְיִֽשְׁתַּכְּח֥וּ בָעִ֖יר [2] Tip'cha
אֲשֶׁ֣ר כֵּן־עָשׂ֑וּ [1] Etnachta

גַּם־זֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
הָֽבֶל׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 4 3 2 2 10 And so [4]
I have seen the wicked buried [4]
and they had come, [3]

and from a holy place [3]
they had gone, [2]

and they are forgotten in the city [2]
where this they had done; [1]

this too [2]
is futility. [1]
11 אֲשֶׁר֙ [3] Pashta
אֵין־נַעֲשָׂ֣ה פִתְגָ֔ם [2] Zaqef

מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה הָרָעָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מְהֵרָ֑ה [1] Etnachta

עַל־כֵּ֡ן [4] Pazer
מָלֵ֞א [4] Gershayim
לֵ֧ב בְּֽנֵי־הָאָדָ֛ם [3] Tevir
בָּהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha

לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת רָֽע׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 3 4 4 11 Because [3]
the sentence is not carried out [2]

against an evil deed [2]
speedily; [1]

therefore [4]
fully set [4]
is the heart of the sons of men [3]
within them [2]

to do evil. [1]
12 אֲשֶׁ֣ר חֹטֶ֗א [3] Revi'i
עֹשֶׂ֥ה רָ֛ע [3] Tevir
מְאַ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
וּמַאֲרִ֣יךְ ל֑וֹ [1] Etnachta

כִּ֚י [3] Yetiv
גַּם־יוֹדֵ֣עַ אָ֔נִי [2] Zaqef

אֲשֶׁ֤ר יִהְיֶה־טּוֹב֙ [3] Pashta
לְיִרְאֵ֣י הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef

אֲשֶׁ֥ר יִֽירְא֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
מִלְּפָנָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 3 2 3 2 3 2 12 Though a sinner [3]
do evil [3]
a hundred times [2]
and he prolong for himself; [1]

yet [3]
also I know [2]

that good will belong [3]
to those who fear God, [2]

who fear [2]
before him, [1]
13 וְטוֹב֙ [3] Pashta
לֹֽא־יִהְיֶ֣ה לָֽרָשָׁ֔ע [2] Zaqef

וְלֹֽא־יַאֲרִ֥יךְ יָמִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
כַּצֵּ֑ל [1] Etnachta

אֲשֶׁ֛ר [3] Tevir
אֵינֶ֥נּוּ יָרֵ֖א [2] Tip'cha
מִלִּפְנֵ֥י אֱלֹהִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 3 13 but good [3]
the wicked shall not have, [2]

and he shall not prolong days [2]
like a shadow; [1]

because [3]
he does not fear [2]
before God. [1]
14 יֶשׁ־הֶ֘בֶל֮ [3 3] Zarqa
אֲשֶׁ֣ר נַעֲשָׂ֣ה עַל־הָאָ֒רֶץ֒ [2 2] Segol

אֲשֶׁ֣ר ׀ [4] Legarmeh
יֵ֣שׁ צַדִּיקִ֗ים [3] Revi'i

אֲשֶׁ֨ר מַגִּ֤יעַ אֲלֵהֶם֙ [3] Pashta
כְּמַעֲשֵׂ֣ה הָרְשָׁעִ֔ים [2] Zaqef

וְיֵ֣שׁ רְשָׁעִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
שֶׁמַּגִּ֥יעַ אֲלֵהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
כְּמַעֲשֵׂ֣ה הַצַּדִּיקִ֑ים [1] Etnachta

אָמַ֕רְתִּי [2] ZaqefG
שֶׁגַּם־זֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
הָֽבֶל׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 4 3 2 2 2 2 14 There is a futility [3 3]
which is done on the earth, [2 2]

that [4]
there are righteous [3]

to whom it happens [3]
according to the deeds of the wicked, [2]

and there are wicked [2]
to whom it happens [2]
according to the deeds of the righteous; [1]

I say [2]
that this too [2]
is futility. [1]
15 וְשִׁבַּ֤חְתִּֽי אֲנִי֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־הַשִּׂמְחָ֔ה [2] Zaqef

אֲשֶׁ֨ר אֵֽין־ט֤וֹב לָֽאָדָם֙ [3] Pashta
תַּ֣חַת הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ [2] Zaqef

כִּ֛י [3] Tevir
אִם־לֶאֱכֹ֥ל וְלִשְׁתּ֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
וְלִשְׂמ֑וֹחַ [1] Etnachta

וְה֞וּא [4] Gershayim
יִלְוֶ֣נּוּ בַעֲמָל֗וֹ [3] Revi'i

יְמֵ֥י חַיָּ֛יו [3] Tevir
אֲשֶׁר־נָֽתַן־ל֥וֹ הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha

תַּ֥חַת הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 2 3 2 3 4 3 15 So I, I commended [3]
enjoyment, [2]

because there is nothing better for man [3]
under the sun, [2]

than [3]
to eat and to drink [2]
and to be happy; [1]

for that, [4]
it will accompany him in his labor [3]

the days of his life [3]
which God has given him [2]

under the sun. [1]
16 כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֤תִּי אֶת־לִבִּי֙ [3] Pashta

וְלִרְאוֹת֙ [3] Pashta

בְּעֵינָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
אֵינֶ֥נּוּ רֹאֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 2 2 3 2 2 16 When I applied my heart [3]
to know wisdom, [2]

and to observe [3]
the activity [2]

that is done [2]
on the earth; [1]

both in the day [3]
and in the night, [2]

sleep [2]
though his eyes [2]

לִמְצֹֽא׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 4 3 3 2 3 4 2 3 2 17 then I saw [3 3]
all the work of God, [2]

that he is not able, [4]
mankind, [3]

to find out [3]
the work [3]
that is done under the sun, [2]

because [4 4]
though a man labor [3]
to seek, [2]
yet he does not find out; [1]

and even if the wise claims [3]
to know, [2]

he cannot [2]
find out. [1]
