1 Now these [3] are the names [3] of the sons of Israel [2] to Egypt; [1] each man with his family [2] they went. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
2 Reuben, Simeon [2] Levi [2] and Judah, [1] |
[1] Silluq |
3 Issachar, Zebulun [2] and Benjamin, [1] |
[1] Silluq |
4 Dan and Naphtali [2] Gad and Asher. [1] |
5 And it was, [3] all the souls [3] who came out of the line of Jacob, [2] were seventy souls; [1] he was in Egypt. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
6 Then Joseph died [3] and all his brothers, [2] that generation. [1] |
7 But the children of Israel, [3] they were fruitful and they increased abundantly [3] and they multiplied and they grew numerous, [2] extremely; [1] them. [1] ¶ |
[1] Silluq |
8 Now a new king arose [2] over Egypt; [1] Joseph. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
9 And he said [2] to his people; [1] the people [3] of the children of Israel [2] more than we. [1] |
10 Come, we must deal shrewdly [2] with them; [1] if war breaks out [3] to our enemies, [2] and they go up from the land.” [1] |
11 So they set over them [3] slave masters [2] with their forced labor; [1] storage cities [3] for Pharaoh, [2] and Raamses. [1] |
12 But the more [3] they afflicted them, [2] and the more they spread; [1] of [2] the children of Israel. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
13 And the Egyptians worked [3] the children of Israel [2] harshly, [1] |
14 and they made their lives bitter [4] with hard labour [3] and in bricks, [2] in the fields; [1] all their labour [2] with cruelty. [1] |
15 And he spoke, [3 3] the king of Egypt, [2] the Hebrew; [1] Shiphrah, [2] Puah, [1] |
16 and he said, [3] “When you assist as midwife [3] the Hebrew women, [2] on the child; [1] then you shall kill him, [2] then she shall live.” [1] |
17 But the midwives feared [3] God, [2] he had commanded them, [2] the king of Egypt; [1] the baby boys. [1] |
18 So the king of Egypt summoned [3 3] the midwives, [2] “Why have you done [2] this thing; [1] the baby boys?” [1] |
19 And the midwives said [3] to Pharaoh, [2] the Egyptian, [2] are the Hebrew women; [1] the midwife, [2] they give birth.” [1] |
[1] Silluq |
20 So God was good [2] to the midwives; [1] and they grew numerous, [2] extremely. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
21 And it was, [2] because the midwives feared [2] God; [1] families. [1] |
22 But Pharaoh commanded [2] all his people, [2] saying; [1] into the river [3 3] you shall throw him, [2] you shall let live.” [1] ¶ |
