1 וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ אִ֖ישׁ [2] Tip'cha
מִבֵּ֣ית לֵוִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּקַּ֖ח [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־בַּת־לֵוִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 1 Now a man went [2]
from the house of Levi; [1]
 
and he took [2]
a daughter of Levi. [1]
2 וַתַּ֥הַר הָאִשָּׁ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וַתֵּ֣לֶד בֵּ֑ן [1] Etnachta
 
וַתֵּ֤רֶא אֹתוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
כִּי־ט֣וֹב ה֔וּא [2] Zaqef
 
וַֽתִּצְפְּנֵ֖הוּ [2] Tip'cha
שְׁלֹשָׁ֥ה יְרָחִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 2 And the woman conceived [2]
and she bore a son; [1]
 
and when she saw him [3]
that he was good, [2]
 
she hid him [2]
three months. [1]
3 וְלֹא־יָכְלָ֣ה עוֹד֮ [3] Zarqa
הַצְּפִינוֹ֒ [2] Segol
 
וַתִּֽקַּֽח־לוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
תֵּ֣בַת גֹּ֔מֶא [2] Zaqef
 
וַתַּחְמְרָ֥הֿ בַחֵמָ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
וּבַזָּ֑פֶת [1] Etnachta
 
וַתָּ֤שֶׂם בָּהּ֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־הַיֶּ֔לֶד [2] Zaqef
 
וַתָּ֥שֶׂם בַּסּ֖וּף [2] Tip'cha
עַל־שְׂפַ֥ת הַיְאֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq

to hide him, [2]
 
she took for him [3]
a papyrus basket, [2]
 
and she coated it with tar [2]
and with pitch; [1]
 
and she put in it [3]
the child, [2]
 
and she laid it among the reeds [2]
by the bank of the river. [1]
4 וַתֵּתַצַּ֥ב אֲחֹת֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
מֵרָחֹ֑ק [1] Etnachta
 
לְדֵעָ֕ה [2] ZaqefG
מַה־יֵּעָשֶׂ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 4 And his sister stood off [2]
at a distance; [1]
 
to see [2]
what would be done [2]
to him. [1]
5 וַתֵּ֤רֶד בַּת־פַּרְעֹה֙ [3] Pashta
לִרְחֹ֣ץ עַל־הַיְאֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
וְנַעֲרֹתֶ֥יהָ הֹלְכֹ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
עַל־יַ֣ד הַיְאֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
וַתֵּ֤רֶא אֶת־הַתֵּבָה֙ [3] Pashta
בְּת֣וֹךְ הַסּ֔וּף [2] Zaqef
 
וַתִּשְׁלַ֥ח אֶת־אֲמָתָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
וַתִּקָּחֶֽהָ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 3 2 5 Then the daughter of Pharaoh came down [3]
to bathe at the river, [2]
 
while her maidens walked [2]
along the side of the river; [1]
 
and when she saw the basket [3]
among the reeds, [2]
 
she sent her maid [2]
and she fetched it. [1]
6 וַתִּפְתַּח֙ [3] Pashta
וַתִּרְאֵ֣הוּ אֶת־הַיֶּ֔לֶד [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִנֵּה־נַ֖עַר [2] Tip'cha
בֹּכֶ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַתַּחְמֹ֣ל עָלָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
וַתֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG
מִיַּלְדֵ֥י הָֽעִבְרִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
זֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq

she saw the child, [2]
 
and behold, a baby [2]
crying; [1]
 
and she had compassion on him, [2]
and she said, [2]
“One of the children of the Hebrews [2]
is this.” [1]
7 וַתֹּ֣אמֶר אֲחֹתוֹ֮ [3] Zarqa
אֶל־בַּת־פַּרְעֹה֒ [2] Segol
 
הַאֵלֵ֗ךְ [3] Revi'i
וְקָרָ֤אתִי לָךְ֙ [3] Pashta
אִשָּׁ֣ה מֵינֶ֔קֶת [2] Zaqef
 
מִ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
הָעִבְרִיֹּ֑ת [1] Etnachta
 
וְתֵינִ֥ק לָ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־הַיָּֽלֶד׃ [1] Silluq

to the daughter of Pharaoh, [2]
 
“Should I go [3]
and call for you [3]
a nurse [2]
 
from [2]
the Hebrew women; [1]
 
that she may nurse for you [2]
the child?” [1]
8 וַתֹּֽאמֶר־לָ֥הּ בַּת־פַּרְעֹ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לֵ֑כִי [1] Etnachta
 
וַתֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ [3 3] Pashta
הָֽעַלְמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַתִּקְרָ֖א [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־אֵ֥ם הַיָּֽלֶד׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 8 And the daughter of Pharaoh said to her, [2]
“Go.” [1]
 
So she went, [3 3]
the girl, [2]
 
and she called [2]
the mother of the child. [1]
9 וַתֹּ֧אמֶר לָ֣הּ בַּת־פַּרְעֹ֗ה [3] Revi'i
 
הֵילִ֜יכִי [4] Geresh
אֶת־הַיֶּ֤לֶד הַזֶּה֙ [3] Pashta
וְהֵינִקִ֣הוּ לִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וַאֲנִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
אֶתֵּ֣ן אֶת־שְׂכָרֵ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta
 
וַתִּקַּ֧ח הָאִשָּׁ֛ה [3] Tevir
הַיֶּ֖לֶד [2] Tip'cha
וַתְּנִיקֵֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 3 4 2 2 3 9 Then the daughter of Pharaoh said to her, [3]
 
“Take [4]
this child [3]
and nurse him for me, [2]
 
and I, [2]
I will pay your wages.” [1]
 
So the woman took [3]
the child [2]
and she nursed him. [1]
10 וַיִּגְדַּ֣ל הַיֶּ֗לֶד [3] Revi'i
וַתְּבִאֵ֙הוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta
לְבַת־פַּרְעֹ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַֽיְהִי־לָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
לְבֵ֑ן [1] Etnachta
 
וַתִּקְרָ֤א שְׁמוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
מֹשֶׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַתֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG
כִּ֥י מִן־הַמַּ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha
מְשִׁיתִֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq

she took him [3 3]
to the daughter of Pharaoh, [2]
 
and he became hers, [2]
a son; [1]
 
and she named him [3]
Moses, [2]
 
and she said, [2]
“Because from the water [2]
I drew him.” [1]
11 וַיְהִ֣י ׀ [4] Legarmeh
בַּיָּמִ֣ים הָהֵ֗ם [3] Revi'i
 
וַיִּגְדַּ֤ל מֹשֶׁה֙ [3] Pashta
וַיֵּצֵ֣א אֶל־אֶחָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
וַיַּ֖רְא [2] Tip'cha
בְּסִבְלֹתָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּרְא֙ [3] Pashta
אִ֣ישׁ מִצְרִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
מַכֶּ֥ה אִישׁ־עִבְרִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
מֵאֶחָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

in those days [3]
 
when Moses had grown up, [3]
that he went out to his brothers, [2]
 
and he looked [2]
on their hard labor; [1]
 
and he saw [3]
an Egyptian [2]
 
striking a Hebrew, [2]
one of his brothers. [1]
12 וַיִּ֤פֶן כֹּה֙ [3] Pashta
וָכֹ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַיַּ֖רְא [2] Tip'cha
כִּ֣י אֵ֣ין אִ֑ישׁ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּךְ֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־הַמִּצְרִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וַֽיִּטְמְנֵ֖הוּ [2] Tip'cha
בַּחֽוֹל׃ [1] Silluq

and that way, [2]
 
and when he saw [2]
that there was no one; [1]
 
he struck down [3]
the Egyptian, [2]
 
and he hid him [2]
in the sand. [1]
13 וַיֵּצֵא֙ [3] Pashta
בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשֵּׁנִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִנֵּ֛ה [3] Tevir
שְׁנֵֽי־אֲנָשִׁ֥ים עִבְרִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
נִצִּ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ [3 3] Pashta
לָֽרָשָׁ֔ע [2] Zaqef
 
לָ֥מָּה תַכֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
רֵעֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq

on the following day, [2]
 
and behold [3]
two Hebrew men [2]
were fighting with each other; [1]
 
so he said [3 3]
to the guilty one, [2]
 
“Why are you striking [2]
your companion?” [1]
14 וַ֠יֹּ֠אמֶר [4 4] TelishaG
מִ֣י שָֽׂמְךָ֞ [4] Gershayim
לְאִ֨ישׁ שַׂ֤ר וְשֹׁפֵט֙ [3] Pashta
עָלֵ֔ינוּ [2] Zaqef
 
הַלְהׇרְגֵ֙נִי֙ [3 3] Pashta
אַתָּ֣ה אֹמֵ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הָרַ֖גְתָּ [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־הַמִּצְרִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּירָ֤א מֹשֶׁה֙ [3] Pashta
וַיֹּאמַ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
אָכֵ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
נוֹדַ֥ע הַדָּבָֽר׃ [1] Silluq

“Who appointed you [4]
as a ruler and a judge [3]
over us? [2]
 
That (you'll) kill me [3 3]
are you saying, [2]
 
just as you killed [2]
the Egyptian?” [1]
 
Then Moses was afraid [3]
and he thought, [2]
 
“Surely [2]
the matter has become known.” [1]
15 וַיִּשְׁמַ֤ע פַּרְעֹה֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַיְבַקֵּ֖שׁ [2] Tip'cha
לַהֲרֹ֣ג אֶת־מֹשֶׁ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּבְרַ֤ח מֹשֶׁה֙ [3] Pashta
מִפְּנֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב בְּאֶֽרֶץ־מִדְיָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב עַֽל־הַבְּאֵֽר׃ [1] Silluq

this matter, [2]
 
he sought [2]
to kill Moses; [1]
 
but Moses fled [3]
from before Pharaoh, [2]
 
and he settled in the land of Midian [2]
where he sat down by a well. [1]
16 וּלְכֹהֵ֥ן מִדְיָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
שֶׁ֣בַע בָּנ֑וֹת [1] Etnachta
 
וַתָּבֹ֣אנָה וַתִּדְלֶ֗נָה [3] Revi'i
וַתְּמַלֶּ֙אנָה֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֶת־הָ֣רְהָטִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
לְהַשְׁק֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
צֹ֥אן אֲבִיהֶֽן׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 3 2 16 Now the priest of Midian had [2]
seven daughters; [1]
 
and they came and they drew water, [3]
and they filled [3 3]
the drinking troughs [2]
 
to water [2]
the flock of their father. [1]
17 וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ הָרֹעִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
וַיְגָרְשׁ֑וּם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיָּ֤קׇם מֹשֶׁה֙ [3] Pashta
וַיּ֣וֹשִׁעָ֔ן [2] Zaqef
 
וַיַּ֖שְׁקְ [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־צֹאנָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 17 But the shepherds came [2]
and they drove them away; [1]
 
so Moses stood up [3]
and he helped them, [2]
 
and he watered [2]
their flock. [1]
18 וַתָּבֹ֕אנָה [2] ZaqefG
אֶל־רְעוּאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
אֲבִיהֶ֑ן [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG
 
מַדּ֛וּעַ [3] Tevir
מִהַרְתֶּ֥ן בֹּ֖א [2] Tip'cha
הַיּֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq

to Reuel [2]
their father; [1]
 
he said, [2]
 
“How is it [3]
that you have returned so quickly [2]
today?” [1]
19 וַתֹּאמַ֕רְןָ [2] ZaqefG
אִ֣ישׁ מִצְרִ֔י [2] Zaqef
הִצִּילָ֖נוּ [2] Tip'cha
מִיַּ֣ד הָרֹעִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וְגַם־דָּלֹ֤ה דָלָה֙ [3] Pashta
לָ֔נוּ [2] Zaqef
 
וַיַּ֖שְׁקְ [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־הַצֹּֽאן׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 2 3 2 19 So they said, [2]
“An Egyptian man, [2]
he delivered us [2]
from the hand of the shepherds; [1]
 
and he also drew water [3]
for us, [2]
 
and he watered [2]
the flock.” [1]
20 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֶל־בְּנֹתָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
וְאַיּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
לָ֤מָּה זֶּה֙ [3] Pashta
עֲזַבְתֶּ֣ן אֶת־הָאִ֔ישׁ [2] Zaqef
 
קִרְאֶ֥ן ל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
וְיֹ֥אכַל לָֽחֶם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 20 And he said to his daughters, [2]
“Where is he then? [1]
 
Why is this [3]
that you left the man? [2]
 
Call for him [2]
to have some food to eat.” [1]
21 וַיּ֥וֹאֶל מֹשֶׁ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לָשֶׁ֣בֶת אֶת־הָאִ֑ישׁ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּתֵּ֛ן [3] Tevir
אֶת־צִפֹּרָ֥ה בִתּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
לְמֹשֶֽׁה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 21 And Moses was content [2]
to stay on with the man; [1]
 
and he gave [3]
Zipporah his daughter [2]
to Moses. [1]
22 וַתֵּ֣לֶד בֵּ֔ן [2] Zaqef
וַיִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
גֵּרְשֹׁ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֣י אָמַ֔ר [2] Zaqef
גֵּ֣ר הָיִ֔יתִי [2] Zaqef
בְּאֶ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha
נׇכְרִיָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq

and he named him [2]
Gershom; [1]
 
for he said, [2]
“A sojourner I have been [2]
in a land, [2]
foreign.” [1]
23 וַיְהִי֩ בַיָּמִ֨ים הָֽרַבִּ֜ים [4] Geresh
הָהֵ֗ם [3] Revi'i
 
וַיָּ֙מׇת֙ [3 3] Pashta
מֶ֣לֶךְ מִצְרַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֵּאָנְח֧וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל [3] Tevir
מִן־הָעֲבֹדָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וַיִּזְעָ֑קוּ [1] Etnachta
 
וַתַּ֧עַל שַׁוְעָתָ֛ם [3] Tevir
אֶל־הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
מִן־הָעֲבֹדָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 3 2 3 2 3 23 Now it came about in the many days, [4]
those, [3]
 
that he died, [3 3]
the king of Egypt, [2]
 
but still the children of Israel groaned [3]
because of the slavery, [2]
and they cried out; [1]
 
and their cry for help went up [3]
to God [2]
because of the slavery. [1]
24 וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־נַאֲקָתָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּזְכֹּ֤ר אֱלֹהִים֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־בְּרִית֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
אֶת־אַבְרָהָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־יִצְחָ֥ק וְאֶֽת־יַעֲקֹֽב׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 24 And God heard [2]
their groaning; [1]
 
and God remembered [3]
his covenant, [2]
 
with Abraham [2]
with Isaac and with Jacob. [1]
25 וַיַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֵּ֖דַע [2] Tip'cha
אֱלֹהִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
