1 וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ [3 3] Pashta הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֔ים [2] Zaqef לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
1 “Now these [3 3] are the ordinances [2] before them. [1] |

2 כִּ֤י תִקְנֶה֙ [3] Pashta עֶ֣בֶד עִבְרִ֔י [2] Zaqef יַעֲבֹ֑ד [1] Etnachta יֵצֵ֥א לַֽחׇפְשִׁ֖י [2] Tip'cha חִנָּֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
2 “If you buy [3] a Hebrew servant, [2] he is to serve; [1] he is to go free [2] without payment. [1] |

3 אִם־בְּגַפּ֥וֹ יָבֹ֖א [2] Tip'cha בְּגַפּ֣וֹ יֵצֵ֑א [1] Etnachta ה֔וּא [2] Zaqef עִמּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
3 If by himself he comes in, [2] by himself he shall go out; [1] is he, [2] with him. [1] |

4 אִם־אֲדֹנָיו֙ [3] Pashta יִתֶּן־ל֣וֹ אִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef א֣וֹ בָנ֑וֹת [1] Etnachta תִּהְיֶה֙ [3] Pashta לַֽאדֹנֶ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef יֵצֵ֥א בְגַפּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
4 If his master [3] gave to him a wife [2] or daughters; [1] she shall belong [3] to her master, [2] he shall go out by himself. [1] |

5 וְאִם־אָמֹ֤ר יֹאמַר֙ [3] Pashta הָעֶ֔בֶד [2] Zaqef אֶת־אֲדֹנִ֔י [2] Zaqef וְאֶת־בָּנָ֑י [1] Etnachta חׇפְשִֽׁי׃ [1] Silluq |
5 But if he plainly says, [3] the servant, [2] my master, [2] and my children; [1] free,’ [1] |

6 וְהִגִּישׁ֤וֹ אֲדֹנָיו֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef אֶל־הַדֶּ֔לֶת [2] Zaqef אֶל־הַמְּזוּזָ֑ה [1] Etnachta בַּמַּרְצֵ֔עַ [2] Zaqef לְעֹלָֽם׃ [1] Silluq ס |
6 then his master shall bring him [3] to God, [2] to the door [2] to the doorpost; [1] with an awl, [2] forever. [1] § |

7 וְכִֽי־יִמְכֹּ֥ר אִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir אֶת־בִּתּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha לְאָמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta כְּצֵ֥את הָעֲבָדִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
7 “And if a man sells [3] his daughter [2] to be a maidservant; [1] as the male servants go out. [1] |

8 אִם־רָעָ֞ה [4] Gershayim בְּעֵינֵ֧י אֲדֹנֶ֛יהָ [3] Tevir אֲשֶׁר־*לא **ל֥וֹ יְעָדָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha וְהֶפְדָּ֑הּ [1] Etnachta לֹא־יִמְשֹׁ֥ל לְמׇכְרָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha בְּבִגְדוֹ־בָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
8 If she is displeasing [4] in the eyes of her master, [3] who has selected her for himself, [2] then he shall let her be redeemed; [1] he shall have no right to sell her, [2] since he has dealt deceitfully with her. [1] |

9 וְאִם־לִבְנ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha יִֽיעָדֶ֑נָּה [1] Etnachta יַעֲשֶׂה־לָּֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
9 And if to his son [2] he marries her; [1] he shall deal with her. [1] |

10 אִם־אַחֶ֖רֶת [2] Tip'cha יִֽקַּֽח־ל֑וֹ [1] Etnachta כְּסוּתָ֥הּ וְעֹנָתָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha לֹ֥א יִגְרָֽע׃ [1] Silluq |
10 If another wife [2] he takes to himself; [1] her clothing and her marriage rights, [2] he shall not diminish. [1] |

11 וְאִ֨ם־שְׁלׇשׁ־אֵ֔לֶּה [2] Zaqef לֹ֥א יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לָ֑הּ [1] Etnachta אֵ֥ין כָּֽסֶף׃ [1] Silluq ס |
11 And if these three things [2] he does not do [2] for her; [1] of money. [1] § |

12 מַכֵּ֥ה אִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir וָמֵ֖ת [2] Tip'cha מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃ [1] Silluq |
12 “Whoever strikes a man [3] so that he dies, [2] he shall surely be put to death, [1] |
|||
13 וַאֲשֶׁר֙ [3] Pashta לֹ֣א צָדָ֔ה [2] Zaqef אִנָּ֣ה לְיָד֑וֹ [1] Etnachta מָק֔וֹם [2] Zaqef שָֽׁמָּה׃ [1] Silluq ס |
13 but if [3] he did not intend any harm, [2] he allowed (it) to happen by his hand; [1] a place [2] there. [1] § |

14 וְכִֽי־יָזִ֥ד אִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir עַל־רֵעֵ֖הוּ [2] Tip'cha לְהׇרְג֣וֹ בְעׇרְמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta תִּקָּחֶ֖נּוּ [2] Tip'cha לָמֽוּת׃ [1] Silluq ס |
14 And if a man schemes [3] against his neighbor [2] to cunningly kill him; [1] you shall take him [2] to die. [1] § |

15 וּמַכֵּ֥ה אָבִ֛יו [3] Tevir וְאִמּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃ [1] Silluq ס |
15 “And anyone who strikes his father [3] or his mother, [2] he shall surely be put to death. [1] § |

16 וְגֹנֵ֨ב אִ֧ישׁ וּמְכָר֛וֹ [3] Tevir וְנִמְצָ֥א בְיָד֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃ [1] Silluq ס |
16 “And anyone who kidnaps a man and sells him, [3] or he is found in his hand, [2] he shall surely be put to death. [1] § |

17 וּמְקַלֵּ֥ל אָבִ֛יו [3] Tevir וְאִמּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃ [1] Silluq ס |
17 “And anyone who curses his father [3] or his mother, [2] he shall surely be put to death. [1] § |

18 וְכִֽי־יְרִיבֻ֣ן אֲנָשִׁ֔ים [2] Zaqef אֶת־רֵעֵ֔הוּ [2] Zaqef א֣וֹ בְאֶגְרֹ֑ף [1] Etnachta וְנָפַ֥ל לְמִשְׁכָּֽב׃ [1] Silluq |
18 “And if men quarrel [2] the other [2] or with a fist; [1] but has to stay in bed, [1] |

19 אִם־יָק֞וּם [4] Gershayim וְהִתְהַלֵּ֥ךְ בַּח֛וּץ [3] Tevir עַל־מִשְׁעַנְתּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha וְנִקָּ֣ה הַמַּכֶּ֑ה [1] Etnachta יִתֵּ֖ן [2] Tip'cha וְרַפֹּ֥א יְרַפֵּֽא׃ [1] Silluq ס |
19 if he gets up [4] and he can walk around outside [3] with his staff, [2] then the one who struck him shall be free from guilt; [1] he shall pay for, [2] and he shall have him fully healed. [1] § |

20 וְכִֽי־יַכֶּה֩ אִ֨ישׁ אֶת־עַבְדּ֜וֹ [4] Geresh א֤וֹ אֶת־אֲמָתוֹ֙ [3] Pashta בַּשֵּׁ֔בֶט [2] Zaqef תַּ֣חַת יָד֑וֹ [1] Etnachta יִנָּקֵֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
20 “And if a man strikes his male servant [4] or his female servant [3] with a staff, [2] under his hand; [1] avenged he shall be. [1] |

21 אַ֥ךְ אִם־י֛וֹם [3] Tevir א֥וֹ יוֹמַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha יַעֲמֹ֑ד [1] Etnachta כִּ֥י כַסְפּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha הֽוּא׃ [1] Silluq ס |
21 But if in a day [3] or two days [2] he gets up; [1] for his property [2] is he. [1] § |

22 וְכִֽי־יִנָּצ֣וּ אֲנָשִׁ֗ים [3] Revi'i אִשָּׁ֤ה הָרָה֙ [3] Pashta וְיָצְא֣וּ יְלָדֶ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef אָס֑וֹן [1] Etnachta כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֨ר יָשִׁ֤ית עָלָיו֙ [3] Pashta בַּ֣עַל הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef בִּפְלִלִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
22 “And if men fight, [3] a pregnant woman [3] so that her child is born early, [2] harm; [1] just as he demands of him, [3] the husband of the woman, [2] as the judges determine. [1] |

23 וְאִם־אָס֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha יִהְיֶ֑ה [1] Etnachta תַּ֥חַת נָֽפֶשׁ׃ [1] Silluq |
23 But if harm [2] there is; [1] for life, [1] |
|||
24 עַ֚יִן [3] Yetiv תַּ֣חַת עַ֔יִן [2] Zaqef תַּ֣חַת שֵׁ֑ן [1] Etnachta תַּ֣חַת יָ֔ד [2] Zaqef תַּ֥חַת רָֽגֶל׃ [1] Silluq |
24 eye [3] for an eye, [2] for a tooth; [1] for hand, [2] for foot, [1] |

25 כְּוִיָּה֙ [3] Pashta תַּ֣חַת כְּוִיָּ֔ה [2] Zaqef תַּ֣חַת פָּ֑צַע [1] Etnachta תַּ֖חַת [2] Tip'cha חַבּוּרָֽה׃ [1] Silluq ס |
25 burn [3] for burn, [2] for wound; [1] for bruise. [2] § [1] |

26 וְכִֽי־יַכֶּ֨ה אִ֜ישׁ [4] Geresh אֶת־עֵ֥ין עַבְדּ֛וֹ [3] Tevir אֽוֹ־אֶת־עֵ֥ין אֲמָת֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha וְשִֽׁחֲתָ֑הּ [1] Etnachta תַּ֥חַת עֵינֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
26 “And if a man strikes [4] the eye of his male servant, [3] or the eye of his female servant, [2] and he destroys it; [1] for the sake of his eye. [1] |

27 וְאִם־שֵׁ֥ן עַבְדּ֛וֹ [3] Tevir אֽוֹ־שֵׁ֥ן אֲמָת֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha יַפִּ֑יל [1] Etnachta תַּ֥חַת שִׁנּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq פ |
27 And if the tooth of his male servant [3] or the tooth of his female servant [2] he knocks out; [1] for the sake of his tooth. [1] ¶ |

28 וְכִֽי־יִגַּ֨ח שׁ֥וֹר אֶת־אִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir א֥וֹ אֶת־אִשָּׁ֖ה [2] Tip'cha וָמֵ֑ת [1] Etnachta הַשּׁ֗וֹר [3] Revi'i אֶת־בְּשָׂר֔וֹ [2] Zaqef נָקִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
28 “And if an ox gores a man [3] or a woman, [2] and he dies; [1] the ox, [3] its meat, [2] shall be free of guilt. [1] |

29 וְאִ֡ם [4] Pazer שׁוֹר֩ נַגָּ֨ח ה֜וּא [4] Geresh מִתְּמֹ֣ל שִׁלְשֹׁ֗ם [3] Revi'i וְלֹ֣א יִשְׁמְרֶ֔נּוּ [2] Zaqef א֣וֹ אִשָּׁ֑ה [1] Etnachta יִסָּקֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef יוּמָֽת׃ [1] Silluq |
29 And if [4] the ox was given to goring [4] in times past, [3] yet he has not restrained it, [2] or a woman; [1] it shall be stoned to death, [2] he shall be put to death. [1] |

30 אִם־כֹּ֖פֶר [2] Tip'cha יוּשַׁ֣ת עָלָ֑יו [1] Etnachta פִּדְיֹ֣ן נַפְשׁ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef עָלָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq |
30 If a ransom, [2] it is imposed on him; [1] for the redemption of his life, [2] on him. [1] |

31 אוֹ־בֵ֥ן יִגָּ֖ח [2] Tip'cha אוֹ־בַ֣ת יִגָּ֑ח [1] Etnachta יֵעָ֥שֶׂה לּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
31 If a son it has gored [2] or a daughter it has gored; [1] shall it be done to him. [1] |

32 אִם־עֶ֛בֶד [3] Tevir יִגַּ֥ח הַשּׁ֖וֹר [2] Tip'cha א֣וֹ אָמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים שְׁקָלִ֗ים [3] Revi'i לַֽאדֹנָ֔יו [2] Zaqef יִסָּקֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq ס |
32 If a male servant [3] the ox gores, [2] or a female servant; [1] thirty shekels, [3] to his master, [2] it shall be stoned to death. [1] § |

33 וְכִֽי־יִפְתַּ֨ח אִ֜ישׁ [4] Geresh בּ֗וֹר [3] Revi'i כִּֽי־יִכְרֶ֥ה אִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir בֹּ֖ר [2] Tip'cha א֥וֹ חֲמֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq |
33 “And if a man opens [4] a pit, [3] if a man digs [3] a pit, [2] or a donkey, [1] |

34 בַּ֤עַל הַבּוֹר֙ [3] Pashta יְשַׁלֵּ֔ם [2] Zaqef יָשִׁ֣יב לִבְעָלָ֑יו [1] Etnachta יִֽהְיֶה־לּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq ס |
34 the owner of the pit, [3] he shall pay compensation, [2] he shall repay to its owner; [1] it shall be his. [1] § |

35 וְכִֽי־יִגֹּ֧ף שֽׁוֹר־אִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir אֶת־שׁ֥וֹר רֵעֵ֖הוּ [2] Tip'cha וָמֵ֑ת [1] Etnachta אֶת־הַשּׁ֤וֹר הַחַי֙ [3] Pashta וְחָצ֣וּ אֶת־כַּסְפּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef יֶֽחֱצֽוּן׃ [1] Silluq |
35 “And if the ox of a man injures [3] the ox of his neighbour, [2] and it dies; [1] the live ox, [3] and they shall divide its price, [2] they shall divide. [1] |

36 Or if it is known [3] the ox was given to goring [3] in times past, [2] its owner; [1] for the ox, [2] it shall be his own. [1] § |
