1 וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ [3 3] Pashta
הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר תָּשִׂ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 1 “Now these [3 3]
are the ordinances [2]
 
which you shall set [2]
before them. [1]
2 כִּ֤י תִקְנֶה֙ [3] Pashta
עֶ֣בֶד עִבְרִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
שֵׁ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
יַעֲבֹ֑ד [1] Etnachta
 
וּבַ֨שְּׁבִעִ֔ת [2] Zaqef
יֵצֵ֥א לַֽחׇפְשִׁ֖י [2] Tip'cha
חִנָּֽם׃ [1] Silluq

a Hebrew servant, [2]
 
six years [2]
he is to serve; [1]
 
and in the seventh [2]
he is to go free [2]
without payment. [1]
3 אִם־בְּגַפּ֥וֹ יָבֹ֖א [2] Tip'cha
בְּגַפּ֣וֹ יֵצֵ֑א [1] Etnachta
 
אִם־בַּ֤עַל אִשָּׁה֙ [3] Pashta
ה֔וּא [2] Zaqef
 
וְיָצְאָ֥ה אִשְׁתּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
עִמּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 3 If by himself he comes in, [2]
by himself he shall go out; [1]
 
if the husband of a wife [3]
is he, [2]
 
then his wife shall go out [2]
with him. [1]
4 אִם־אֲדֹנָיו֙ [3] Pashta
יִתֶּן־ל֣וֹ אִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְיָלְדָה־ל֥וֹ בָנִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
א֣וֹ בָנ֑וֹת [1] Etnachta
 
הָאִשָּׁ֣ה וִילָדֶ֗יהָ [3] Revi'i
תִּהְיֶה֙ [3] Pashta
לַֽאדֹנֶ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְה֖וּא [2] Tip'cha
יֵצֵ֥א בְגַפּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

gave to him a wife [2]
 
and she bears to him sons [2]
or daughters; [1]
 
the wife and her children, [3]
she shall belong [3]
to her master, [2]
 
and he, [2]
he shall go out by himself. [1]
5 וְאִם־אָמֹ֤ר יֹאמַר֙ [3] Pashta
הָעֶ֔בֶד [2] Zaqef
 
אָהַ֙בְתִּי֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֶת־אֲדֹנִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
אֶת־אִשְׁתִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
וְאֶת־בָּנָ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
לֹ֥א אֵצֵ֖א [2] Tip'cha
חׇפְשִֽׁי׃ [1] Silluq

‘I love [3 3]
my master, [2]
 
my wife [2]
and my children; [1]
 
I will not go out [2]
free,’ [1]
6 וְהִגִּישׁ֤וֹ אֲדֹנָיו֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִגִּישׁוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־הַדֶּ֔לֶת [2] Zaqef
 
א֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־הַמְּזוּזָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וְרָצַ֨ע אֲדֹנָ֤יו אֶת־אׇזְנוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
בַּמַּרְצֵ֔עַ [2] Zaqef
 
וַעֲבָד֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
לְעֹלָֽם׃ [1] Silluq

to God, [2]
 
and shall bring him [3]
to the door [2]
 
or [2]
to the doorpost; [1]
 
and his master shall pierce his ear [3]
with an awl, [2]
 
and he shall serve him [2]
forever. [1]

7 וְכִֽי־יִמְכֹּ֥ר אִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir
אֶת־בִּתּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
לְאָמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
לֹ֥א תֵצֵ֖א [2] Tip'cha
כְּצֵ֥את הָעֲבָדִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 7 “And if a man sells [3]
his daughter [2]
to be a maidservant; [1]
 
she shall not go out [2]
as the male servants go out. [1]
8 אִם־רָעָ֞ה [4] Gershayim
בְּעֵינֵ֧י אֲדֹנֶ֛יהָ [3] Tevir
אֲשֶׁר־*לא **ל֥וֹ יְעָדָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
וְהֶפְדָּ֑הּ [1] Etnachta
 
לְעַ֥ם נׇכְרִ֛י [3] Tevir
לֹא־יִמְשֹׁ֥ל לְמׇכְרָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
בְּבִגְדוֹ־בָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq

in the eyes of her master, [3]
who has selected her for himself, [2]
then he shall let her be redeemed; [1]
 
to a foreign people [3]
he shall have no right to sell her, [2]
since he has dealt deceitfully with her. [1]
9 וְאִם־לִבְנ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
יִֽיעָדֶ֑נָּה [1] Etnachta
 
כְּמִשְׁפַּ֥ט הַבָּנ֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
יַעֲשֶׂה־לָּֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 9 And if to his son [2]
he marries her; [1]
 
as a daughter [2]
he shall deal with her. [1]
10 אִם־אַחֶ֖רֶת [2] Tip'cha
יִֽקַּֽח־ל֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
שְׁאֵרָ֛הּ [3] Tevir
כְּסוּתָ֥הּ וְעֹנָתָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֥א יִגְרָֽע׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 10 If another wife [2]
he takes to himself; [1]
 
her food [3]
her clothing and her marriage rights, [2]
he shall not diminish. [1]
11 וְאִ֨ם־שְׁלׇשׁ־אֵ֔לֶּה [2] Zaqef
לֹ֥א יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לָ֑הּ [1] Etnachta
 
וְיָצְאָ֥ה חִנָּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
אֵ֥ין כָּֽסֶף׃ [1] Silluq

1 2 2 2 11 And if these three things [2]
he does not do [2]
for her; [1]
 
then she is to go free without payment [2]
of money. [1]

12 מַכֵּ֥ה אִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir
וָמֵ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 12 “Whoever strikes a man [3]
so that he dies, [2]
he shall surely be put to death, [1]
13 וַאֲשֶׁר֙ [3] Pashta
לֹ֣א צָדָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְהָאֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אִנָּ֣ה לְיָד֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וְשַׂמְתִּ֤י לְךָ֙ [3] Pashta
מָק֔וֹם [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָנ֖וּס [2] Tip'cha
שָֽׁמָּה׃ [1] Silluq

he did not intend any harm, [2]
 
yet God, [2]
he allowed (it) to happen by his hand; [1]
 
then I will appoint for you [3]
a place [2]
 
where he may flee [2]
there. [1]

14 וְכִֽי־יָזִ֥ד אִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir
עַל־רֵעֵ֖הוּ [2] Tip'cha
לְהׇרְג֣וֹ בְעׇרְמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
מֵעִ֣ם מִזְבְּחִ֔י [2] Zaqef
תִּקָּחֶ֖נּוּ [2] Tip'cha
לָמֽוּת׃ [1] Silluq

1 2 3 2 2 14 And if a man schemes [3]
against his neighbor [2]
to cunningly kill him; [1]
 
from my altar, [2]
you shall take him [2]
to die. [1]

15 וּמַכֵּ֥ה אָבִ֛יו [3] Tevir
וְאִמּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 15 “And anyone who strikes his father [3]
or his mother, [2]
he shall surely be put to death. [1]

16 וְגֹנֵ֨ב אִ֧ישׁ וּמְכָר֛וֹ [3] Tevir
וְנִמְצָ֥א בְיָד֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 16 “And anyone who kidnaps a man and sells him, [3]
or he is found in his hand, [2]
he shall surely be put to death. [1]

17 וּמְקַלֵּ֥ל אָבִ֛יו [3] Tevir
וְאִמּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 17 “And anyone who curses his father [3]
or his mother, [2]
he shall surely be put to death. [1]

18 וְכִֽי־יְרִיבֻ֣ן אֲנָשִׁ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִכָּה־אִישׁ֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־רֵעֵ֔הוּ [2] Zaqef
 
בְּאֶ֖בֶן [2] Tip'cha
א֣וֹ בְאֶגְרֹ֑ף [1] Etnachta
 
וְלֹ֥א יָמ֖וּת [2] Tip'cha
וְנָפַ֥ל לְמִשְׁכָּֽב׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 2 18 “And if men quarrel [2]
 
and one strikes [3]
the other [2]
 
with a stone [2]
or with a fist; [1]
 
and he doesn’t die [2]
but has to stay in bed, [1]
19 אִם־יָק֞וּם [4] Gershayim
וְהִתְהַלֵּ֥ךְ בַּח֛וּץ [3] Tevir
עַל־מִשְׁעַנְתּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
וְנִקָּ֣ה הַמַּכֶּ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
רַ֥ק שִׁבְתּ֛וֹ [3] Tevir
יִתֵּ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
וְרַפֹּ֥א יְרַפֵּֽא׃ [1] Silluq

and he can walk around outside [3]
with his staff, [2]
then the one who struck him shall be free from guilt; [1]
 
only the loss of his time [3]
he shall pay for, [2]
and he shall have him fully healed. [1]

20 וְכִֽי־יַכֶּה֩ אִ֨ישׁ אֶת־עַבְדּ֜וֹ [4] Geresh
א֤וֹ אֶת־אֲמָתוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
בַּשֵּׁ֔בֶט [2] Zaqef
 
וּמֵ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
תַּ֣חַת יָד֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
נָקֹ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
יִנָּקֵֽם׃ [1] Silluq

or his female servant [3]
with a staff, [2]
 
and he dies [2]
under his hand; [1]
 
surely [2]
avenged he shall be. [1]
21 אַ֥ךְ אִם־י֛וֹם [3] Tevir
א֥וֹ יוֹמַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha
יַעֲמֹ֑ד [1] Etnachta
 
לֹ֣א יֻקַּ֔ם [2] Zaqef
כִּ֥י כַסְפּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
הֽוּא׃ [1] Silluq

or two days [2]
he gets up; [1]
 
he shall not be avenged, [2]
for his property [2]
is he. [1]

אִשָּׁ֤ה הָרָה֙ [3] Pashta
וְיָצְא֣וּ יְלָדֶ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְלֹ֥א יִהְיֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אָס֑וֹן [1] Etnachta
 
עָנ֣וֹשׁ יֵעָנֵ֗שׁ [3] Revi'i
כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֨ר יָשִׁ֤ית עָלָיו֙ [3] Pashta
בַּ֣עַל הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְנָתַ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
בִּפְלִלִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

and they hit [4]
a pregnant woman [3]
so that her child is born early, [2]
 
but yet there is no [2]
harm; [1]
 
he shall surely be fined [3]
just as he demands of him, [3]
the husband of the woman, [2]
 
and he shall pay [2]
as the judges determine. [1]
23 וְאִם־אָס֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha

וְנָתַתָּ֥ה נֶ֖פֶשׁ [2] Tip'cha
תַּ֥חַת נָֽפֶשׁ׃ [1] Silluq

there is; [1]
 
then you must give life [2]
for life, [1]

וְשִֽׁחֲתָ֑הּ [1] Etnachta
 
לַֽחׇפְשִׁ֥י יְשַׁלְּחֶ֖נּוּ [2] Tip'cha
תַּ֥חַת עֵינֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

the eye of his male servant, [3]
or the eye of his female servant, [2]
and he destroys it; [1]
 
he shall let him go free [2]
for the sake of his eye. [1]
27 וְאִם־שֵׁ֥ן עַבְדּ֛וֹ [3] Tevir
אֽוֹ־שֵׁ֥ן אֲמָת֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
יַפִּ֑יל [1] Etnachta
 
לַֽחׇפְשִׁ֥י יְשַׁלְּחֶ֖נּוּ [2] Tip'cha
תַּ֥חַת שִׁנּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

or the tooth of his female servant [2]
he knocks out; [1]
 
he shall set him free [2]
for the sake of his tooth. [1]
28 וְכִֽי־יִגַּ֨ח שׁ֥וֹר אֶת־אִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir
א֥וֹ אֶת־אִשָּׁ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וָמֵ֑ת [1] Etnachta
 
סָק֨וֹל יִסָּקֵ֜ל [4] Geresh
הַשּׁ֗וֹר [3] Revi'i
 
וְלֹ֤א יֵאָכֵל֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־בְּשָׂר֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וּבַ֥עַל הַשּׁ֖וֹר [2] Tip'cha
נָקִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

or a woman, [2]
and he dies; [1]
 
it shall surely be stoned to death, [4]
the ox, [3]
 
and it shall not be eaten, [3]
its meat, [2]
 
but the owner of the ox [2]
shall be free of guilt. [1]
29 וְאִ֡ם [4] Pazer
שׁוֹר֩ נַגָּ֨ח ה֜וּא [4] Geresh
מִתְּמֹ֣ל שִׁלְשֹׁ֗ם [3] Revi'i
 
וְהוּעַ֤ד בִּבְעָלָיו֙ [3] Pashta
וְלֹ֣א יִשְׁמְרֶ֔נּוּ [2] Zaqef
 
וְהֵמִ֥ית אִ֖ישׁ [2] Tip'cha
א֣וֹ אִשָּׁ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
הַשּׁוֹר֙ [3] Pashta
יִסָּקֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
וְגַם־בְּעָלָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
יוּמָֽת׃ [1] Silluq

the ox was given to goring [4]
in times past, [3]
 
and a warning has been given to its owner [3]
yet he has not restrained it, [2]
 
and it has killed a man [2]
or a woman; [1]
 
the ox, [3]
it shall be stoned to death, [2]
 
and also its owner, [2]
he shall be put to death. [1]
30 אִם־כֹּ֖פֶר [2] Tip'cha
יוּשַׁ֣ת עָלָ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וְנָתַן֙ [3] Pashta
פִּדְיֹ֣ן נַפְשׁ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
כְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־יוּשַׁ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
עָלָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 30 If a ransom, [2]
it is imposed on him; [1]
 
then he shall give [3]
for the redemption of his life, [2]
 
whatever is imposed [2]
on him. [1]
31 אוֹ־בֵ֥ן יִגָּ֖ח [2] Tip'cha
אוֹ־בַ֣ת יִגָּ֑ח [1] Etnachta
 
כַּמִּשְׁפָּ֥ט הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
יֵעָ֥שֶׂה לּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 31 If a son it has gored [2]
or a daughter it has gored; [1]
 
according to this regulation [2]
shall it be done to him. [1]
32 אִם־עֶ֛בֶד [3] Tevir
יִגַּ֥ח הַשּׁ֖וֹר [2] Tip'cha
א֣וֹ אָמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
כֶּ֣סֶף ׀ [4] Legarmeh
שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים שְׁקָלִ֗ים [3] Revi'i
 
יִתֵּן֙ [3] Pashta
לַֽאדֹנָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
וְהַשּׁ֖וֹר [2] Tip'cha
יִסָּקֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq

thirty shekels, [3]
 
he shall pay [3]
to his master, [2]
 
and the ox, [2]

יָשִׁ֣יב לִבְעָלָ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וְהַמֵּ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
יִֽהְיֶה־לּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

he shall pay compensation, [2]
 
silver [2]
he shall repay to its owner; [1]
 
and the dead animal, [2]
it shall be his. [1]

35 וְכִֽי־יִגֹּ֧ף שֽׁוֹר־אִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir
אֶת־שׁ֥וֹר רֵעֵ֖הוּ [2] Tip'cha
וָמֵ֑ת [1] Etnachta
 
וּמָ֨כְר֜וּ [4] Geresh
אֶת־הַשּׁ֤וֹר הַחַי֙ [3] Pashta
וְחָצ֣וּ אֶת־כַּסְפּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וְגַ֥ם אֶת־הַמֵּ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
יֶֽחֱצֽוּן׃ [1] Silluq

the ox of his neighbour, [2]
and it dies; [1]
 
then they shall sell [4]
the live ox, [3]
and they shall divide its price, [2]
 
and also the dead animal [2]
they shall divide. [1]

the ox was given to goring [3]
in times past, [2]
 
and he has not restrained it, [2]
its owner; [1]
 
he shall surely pay an ox [3]
for the ox, [2]

37 כִּ֤י יִגְנֹֽב־אִישׁ֙ [3] Pashta
שׁ֣וֹר אוֹ־שֶׂ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וּטְבָח֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
