1 וַיִּפֹּ֥ל יוֹסֵ֖ף [2] Tip'cha
עַל־פְּנֵ֣י אָבִ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֵּ֥בְךְּ עָלָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
וַיִּשַּׁק־לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 1 And Joseph fell [2]
on the face of his father; [1]
 
and he wept over him [2]
and he kissed him. [1]
2 וַיְצַ֨ו יוֹסֵ֤ף אֶת־עֲבָדָיו֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־הָרֹ֣פְאִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
לַחֲנֹ֖ט [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־אָבִ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּחַנְט֥וּ הָרֹפְאִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq

the physicians [2]
 
to embalm [2]
his father; [1]
 
and the physicians embalmed [2]
Israel. [1]
3 וַיִּמְלְאוּ־לוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
אַרְבָּעִ֣ים י֔וֹם [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֛י [3] Tevir
כֵּ֥ן יִמְלְא֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
יְמֵ֣י הַחֲנֻטִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּבְכּ֥וּ אֹת֛וֹ [3] Tevir
מִצְרַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha
שִׁבְעִ֥ים יֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq

forty days, [2]

thus they were completed [2]
the days of the embalming; [1]
 
and they wept for him, [3]
the Egyptians, [2]
for seventy days. [1]

יְמֵ֣י בְכִית֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר יוֹסֵ֔ף [2] Zaqef
אֶל־בֵּ֥ית פַּרְעֹ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
אִם־נָ֨א מָצָ֤אתִי חֵן֙ [3] Pashta
בְּעֵ֣ינֵיכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
דַּבְּרוּ־נָ֕א [2] ZaqefG
בְּאׇזְנֵ֥י פַרְעֹ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq

the days of his weeping, [2]
 
Joseph spoke [2]
to the household of Pharaoh [2]
saying; [1]
 
“If now I have found favor [3]
in your eyes, [2]
 
please speak [2]
in the ears of Pharaoh [2]
saying, [1]
5 אָבִ֞י [4] Gershayim
הִשְׁבִּיעַ֣נִי לֵאמֹ֗ר [3] Revi'i
 
הִנֵּ֣ה אָנֹכִי֮ [3] Zarqa
מֵת֒ [2] Segol
 
בְּקִבְרִ֗י [3] Revi'i
אֲשֶׁ֨ר כָּרִ֤יתִי לִי֙ [3] Pashta
בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן [2] Zaqef
 
שָׁ֖מָּה [2] Tip'cha
תִּקְבְּרֵ֑נִי [1] Etnachta
 
וְעַתָּ֗ה [3] Revi'i
אֶֽעֱלֶה־נָּ֛א [3] Tevir
וְאֶקְבְּרָ֥ה אֶת־אָבִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
וְאָשֽׁוּבָה׃ [1] Silluq

“Behold, I [3]
am about to die. [2]
 
In my grave [3]
which I dug for myself [3]
in the land of Canaan, [2]

you bury me.” [1]
 
Now therefore, [3]
please let me go up [3]
and bury my father, [2]
and I will return.’ ” [1]
6 וַיֹּ֖אמֶר [2] Tip'cha
פַּרְעֹ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
עֲלֵ֛ה [3] Tevir
וּקְבֹ֥ר אֶת־אָבִ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha
כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הִשְׁבִּיעֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 6 And he said, [2]
Pharaoh; [1]
 
“Go up [3]
and bury your father, [2]
just as he made you swear.” [1]
7 וַיַּ֥עַל יוֹסֵ֖ף [2] Tip'cha
לִקְבֹּ֣ר אֶת־אָבִ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּֽעֲל֨וּ אִתּ֜וֹ [4] Geresh
כׇּל־עַבְדֵ֤י פַרְעֹה֙ [3] Pashta
זִקְנֵ֣י בֵית֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וְכֹ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
זִקְנֵ֥י אֶֽרֶץ־מִצְרָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq

to bury his father; [1]
 
and they went up with him, [4]
all the servants of Pharaoh, [3]
the elders of his household, [2]
 
and all [2]
the elders of the land of Egypt, [1]
8 וְכֹל֙ [3] Pashta
בֵּ֣ית יוֹסֵ֔ף [2] Zaqef
 
וְאֶחָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
וּבֵ֣ית אָבִ֑יו [1] Etnachta

וְצֹאנָ֣ם וּבְקָרָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
עָזְב֖וּ [2] Tip'cha

and his brothers [2]
and the household of his father. [1]
 
Only [3]
their little ones [3]
and their sheep and their cattle, [2]

in the land of Goshen. [1]
9 וַיַּ֣עַל עִמּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
גַּם־רֶ֖כֶב [2] Tip'cha
גַּם־פָּרָשִׁ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וַיְהִ֥י הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
כָּבֵ֥ד מְאֹֽד׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 9 And there went up with him, [2]
both chariots [2]
and horsemen; [1]
 
and the company was [2]
very numerous. [1]
10 וַיָּבֹ֜אוּ [4] Geresh
עַד־גֹּ֣רֶן הָאָטָ֗ד [3] Revi'i
 
אֲשֶׁר֙ [3] Pashta
בְּעֵ֣בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן [2] Zaqef
 
וַיִּ֨סְפְּדוּ־שָׁ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
מִסְפֵּ֛ד [3] Tevir
גָּד֥וֹל וְכָבֵ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
מְאֹ֑ד [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּ֧עַשׂ לְאָבִ֛יו [3] Tevir
אֵ֖בֶל [2] Tip'cha
שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

to the threshing floor of Atad [3]

is on the other side of the Jordan, [2]
 
and they lamented there [2]
 
a lament [3]
great and heavy, [2]
very; [1]
 
and he observed for his father [3]
mourning, [2]
of seven days. [1]
11 וַיַּ֡רְא [4] Pazer
יוֹשֵׁב֩ הָאָ֨רֶץ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֜י [4] Geresh
אֶת־הָאֵ֗בֶל [3] Revi'i
 
בְּגֹ֙רֶן֙ [3 3] Pashta
הָֽאָטָ֔ד [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ [2] Zaqef
אֵֽבֶל־כָּבֵ֥ד זֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לְמִצְרָ֑יִם [1] Etnachta
 
עַל־כֵּ֞ן [4] Gershayim
קָרָ֤א שְׁמָהּ֙ [3] Pashta
אָבֵ֣ל מִצְרַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
בְּעֵ֥בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ [1] Silluq

the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, [4]
the mourning [3]
 
at the threshing floor [3 3]
of Atad, [2]
 
they said, [2]
“This is heavy mourning [2]
by the Egyptians.” [1]
 
Therefore [4]
its name was called [3]
Abel Mizraim, [2]
 
which [2]
is on the other side of the Jordan. [1]
12 וַיַּעֲשׂ֥וּ בָנָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha

כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוָּֽם׃ [1] Silluq

for him; [1]
 
thus [2]
just as he had commanded them, [1]
13 וַיִּשְׂא֨וּ אֹת֤וֹ בָנָיו֙ [3] Pashta
אַ֣רְצָה כְּנַ֔עַן [2] Zaqef
 
וַיִּקְבְּר֣וּ אֹת֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
בִּמְעָרַ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
שְׂדֵ֣ה הַמַּכְפֵּלָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
אֲשֶׁ֣ר קָנָה֩ אַבְרָהָ֨ם אֶת־הַשָּׂדֶ֜ה [4] Geresh
לַאֲחֻזַּת־קֶ֗בֶר [3] Revi'i
 
מֵאֵ֛ת [3] Tevir
עֶפְרֹ֥ן הַחִתִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
 
עַל־פְּנֵ֥י מַמְרֵֽא׃ [1] Silluq

to the land of Canaan, [2]
 
and they buried him [2]
in the cave [2]
of the field of Machpelah; [1]
 
which Abraham had bought with the field [4]
as a possession for a burial site, [3]
 
from [3]
Ephron the Hittite, [2]
 
near Mamre. [1]
14 וַיָּ֨שׇׁב יוֹסֵ֤ף מִצְרַ֙יְמָה֙ [3 3] Pashta
ה֣וּא וְאֶחָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
וְכׇל־הָעֹלִ֥ים אִתּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
לִקְבֹּ֣ר אֶת־אָבִ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
אַחֲרֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha
קׇבְר֥וֹ אֶת־אָבִֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 14 And Joseph returned to Egypt, [3 3]
he and his brothers, [2]
 
and all who had gone up with him [2]
to bury his father; [1]
 
after [2]
he had buried his father. [1]
15 וַיִּרְא֤וּ אֲחֵֽי־יוֹסֵף֙ [3] Pashta
כִּי־מֵ֣ת אֲבִיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ [2] Zaqef
ל֥וּ יִשְׂטְמֵ֖נוּ [2] Tip'cha
יוֹסֵ֑ף [1] Etnachta
 
וְהָשֵׁ֤ב יָשִׁיב֙ [3] Pashta
לָ֔נוּ [2] Zaqef
 
אֵ֚ת [3] Yetiv
כׇּל־הָ֣רָעָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר גָּמַ֖לְנוּ [2] Tip'cha
אֹתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

that their father had died, [2]
 
they said, [2]
“It may be that he will bear a grudge against us, [2]
Joseph; [1]
 
and he will fully pay back [3]
to us [2]

all the harm [2]
 
which we dealt out to [2]
him.” [1]
16 וַיְצַוּ֕וּ [2] ZaqefG
אֶל־יוֹסֵ֖ף [2] Tip'cha

אָבִ֣יךָ צִוָּ֔ה [2] Zaqef
לִפְנֵ֥י מוֹת֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq

to Joseph [2]
saying; [1]
 
“Your father commanded [2]
before he died [2]
saying, [1]
17 כֹּֽה־תֹאמְר֣וּ לְיוֹסֵ֗ף [3] Revi'i
 
אָ֣נָּ֡א [4] Pazer
שָׂ֣א נָ֠א [4] TelishaG
פֶּ֣שַׁע אַחֶ֤יךָ וְחַטָּאתָם֙ [3] Pashta
כִּי־רָעָ֣ה גְמָל֔וּךָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַתָּה֙ [3] Pashta
שָׂ֣א נָ֔א [2] Zaqef
 
לְפֶ֥שַׁע עַבְדֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha
אֱלֹהֵ֣י אָבִ֑יךָ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֵּ֥בְךְּ יוֹסֵ֖ף [2] Tip'cha
בְּדַבְּרָ֥ם אֵלָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

“We beg you, [4]
please forgive [4]
the transgression of your brothers and their sin, [3]
because they dealt out to you evil.” ’ [2]
 
And now [3]
please forgive [2]
 
the transgression of the servants [2]
of the God of your father.” [1]
 
And Joseph wept [2]
when they spoke to him. [1]
18 וַיֵּלְכוּ֙ [3] Pashta
גַּם־אֶחָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
לְפָנָ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ [2] Zaqef
הִנֶּ֥נּֽוּ לְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
לַעֲבָדִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

also, his brothers, [2]
 
and they fell down [2]
before him; [1]
 
and they said, [2]
“Behold, we belong to you [2]
as slaves.” [1]
19 וַיֹּ֧אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֛ם [3] Tevir
יוֹסֵ֖ף [2] Tip'cha
אַל־תִּירָ֑אוּ [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֛י [3] Tevir
הֲתַ֥חַת אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אָֽנִי׃ [1] Silluq

Joseph, [2]
“Don’t be afraid; [1]
 
for [3]
in the place of God [2]
am I? [1]
20 וְאַתֶּ֕ם [2] ZaqefG
חֲשַׁבְתֶּ֥ם עָלַ֖י [2] Tip'cha
רָעָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
אֱלֹהִים֙ [3] Pashta
חֲשָׁבָ֣הּ לְטֹבָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
לְמַ֗עַן [3] Revi'i
עֲשֹׂ֛ה [3] Tevir
כַּיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לְהַחֲיֹ֥ת עַם־רָֽב׃ [1] Silluq

you planned against me [2]
evil; [1]
 
but God, [3]
he planned it for good, [2]
 
to [3]
bring about [3]
what it is this day, [2]
to preserve alive many people. [1]
21 וְעַתָּה֙ [3] Pashta
אַל־תִּירָ֔אוּ [2] Zaqef
 
אָנֹכִ֛י [3] Tevir
אֲכַלְכֵּ֥ל אֶתְכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
וְאֶֽת־טַפְּכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיְנַחֵ֣ם אוֹתָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
וַיְדַבֵּ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
עַל־לִבָּֽם׃ [1] Silluq

don’t be afraid. [2]
 
I, [3]
I will provide for you [2]
and your little ones.” [1]
 
And he comforted them, [2]
and he spoke [2]
kindly to them. [1]
22 וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב יוֹסֵף֙ [3] Pashta
בְּמִצְרַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
ה֖וּא [2] Tip'cha
וּבֵ֣ית אָבִ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וַיְחִ֣י יוֹסֵ֔ף [2] Zaqef
מֵאָ֥ה וָעֶ֖שֶׂר [2] Tip'cha
שָׁנִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

in Egypt, [2]
 
he [2]
and the household of his father; [1]
 
and Joseph lived [2]
one hundred and ten [2]
years. [1]
23 וַיַּ֤רְא יוֹסֵף֙ [3] Pashta
לְאֶפְרַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
בְּנֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha
שִׁלֵּשִׁ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
גַּ֗ם [3] Revi'i
בְּנֵ֤י מָכִיר֙ [3] Pashta
בֶּן־מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
יֻלְּד֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
עַל־בִּרְכֵּ֥י יוֹסֵֽף׃ [1] Silluq

to Ephraim [2]
 
sons [2]
to the third generation; [1]
 
and [3]
the sons of Machir [3]
the son of Manasseh, [2]
 
they were born [2]
on the knees of Joseph. [1]
24 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יוֹסֵף֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־אֶחָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
אָנֹכִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
מֵ֑ת [1] Etnachta
 
וֵֽאלֹהִ֞ים [4] Gershayim
פָּקֹ֧ד יִפְקֹ֣ד אֶתְכֶ֗ם [3] Revi'i
 
וְהֶעֱלָ֤ה אֶתְכֶם֙ [3] Pashta
מִן־הָאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֔את [2] Zaqef
 
אֶל־הָאָ֕רֶץ [2] ZaqefG
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִשְׁבַּ֛ע [3] Tevir
לְאַבְרָהָ֥ם לְיִצְחָ֖ק [2] Tip'cha
וּֽלְיַעֲקֹֽב׃ [1] Silluq

to his brothers, [2]
 
“I am [2]
about to die; [1]
 
but God, [4]
he will surely visit you, [3]
 
and he will bring you up [3]
from this land, [2]
 
to the land [2]
 
which he swore [3]
to Abraham, to Isaac, [2]
and to Jacob.” [1]
25 וַיַּשְׁבַּ֣ע יוֹסֵ֔ף [2] Zaqef
אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
פָּקֹ֨ד יִפְקֹ֤ד אֱלֹהִים֙ [3] Pashta
אֶתְכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וְהַעֲלִתֶ֥ם אֶת־עַצְמֹתַ֖י [2] Tip'cha
מִזֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 3 2 25 And Joseph took an oath of [2]
the sons of Israel [2]
saying; [1]
 
“God will surely visit [3]
you, [2]
 
and you shall carry up my bones [2]
from here.” [1]
26 וַיָּ֣מׇת יוֹסֵ֔ף [2] Zaqef
בֶּן־מֵאָ֥ה וָעֶ֖שֶׂר [2] Tip'cha
שָׁנִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּחַנְט֣וּ אֹת֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
וַיִּ֥ישֶׂם בָּאָר֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha
בְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 2 26 And Joseph died, [2]
a son of one hundred and ten [2]
years; [1]
 
and he was embalmed, [2]
and he was put in a coffin [2]
in Egypt. [1]
