עָלָ֞ה [4] Gershayim
סַנְחֵרִ֤יב מֶֽלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּר֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
 
עַ֣ל כׇּל־עָרֵ֧י יְהוּדָ֛ה [3] Munach Darga Tevir
הַבְּצֻר֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
 
וַֽיִּתְפְּשֵֽׂם׃ [1] Silluq

in the four and tenth year [4]
of king Hezekiah, [3]
 
he came up, [4]
Sennacherib king of Assyria, [3]
 
against all the cities of Judah [3]
which were fortified, [2]
 
and he captured them. [1]

בִּתְעָלַת֙ [3] Pashta
הַבְּרֵכָ֣ה הָעֶלְיוֹנָ֔ה [2] Munach Zaqef
 
בִּמְסִלַּ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
שְׂדֵ֥ה כוֹבֵֽס׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

the chief commander from Lachish to Jerusalem [3]
to the king Hezekiah [2]
with a massive army; [1]
 
and he stood [3]
by the aqueduct [3]
of the upper pool [2]
 
on the highway [2]
of the washer’s field. [1]

אֶלְיָקִ֥ים בֶּן־חִלְקִיָּ֖הוּ [2] Merkha Tip'cha

הַסֹּפֵ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
וְיוֹאָ֥ח בֶּן־אָסָ֖ף [2] Merkha Tip'cha
הַמַּזְכִּֽיר׃ [1] Silluq

אִמְרוּ־נָ֖א [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־חִזְקִיָּ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta
 
כֹּֽה־אָמַ֞ר [4] Gershayim
הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ הַגָּדוֹל֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֔וּר [2] Munach Zaqef
 
מָ֧ה הַבִּטָּח֛וֹן [3] Darga Tevir
הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּטָֽחְתָּ׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

‘Thus he says, [4]
the great king, [3]
king of Assyria, [2]
 
“What confidence [3]
is this [2]
(on) which you've been relying? [1]

אַךְ־דְּבַר־שְׂפָתַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
עֵצָ֥ה וּגְבוּרָ֖ה [2] Merkha Tip'cha
לַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
עַתָּה֙ [3] Pashta
עַל־מִ֣י בָטַ֔חְתָּ [2] Munach Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י מָרַ֖דְתָּ [2] Merkha Tip'cha
בִּֽי׃ [1] Silluq

only a word of the lips [2]
 
are the strategy and strength [2]
for the war; [1]

on whom are you relying, [2]
 
that you have rebelled [2]

לְכׇֽל־הַבֹּטְחִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
עָלָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

on the staff of this splintered reed, [3]
on Egypt, [2]
 
which if anyone leans [3]
on it [2]
 
it will go into the palm of his hand [2]
and it will pierce it; [1]

Pharaoh king of Egypt [2]
 
to all who trust [2]
in him. [1]

הַמִּזְבֵּ֥חַ הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Merkha Tip'cha
תִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֽוּ׃ [1] Silluq

‘In the LORD our God [2]
we trust;’ [1]
 
is he not [3]
the one of whom Hezekiah has removed [3]
his high places and his altars, [2]
 
and he has said to Judah [3]
and to Jerusalem, [2]
 
‘Before [3]
this altar [2]
you must worship?’ ” [1]

וְאֶתְּנָ֤ה לְךָ֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
אַלְפַּ֣יִם סוּסִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef
 
אִם־תּוּכַ֕ל [2] ZaqefG
לָ֥תֶת לְךָ֖ [2] Merkha Tip'cha
רֹכְבִ֥ים עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

two thousand horses, [2]
 
if you are able [2]
on your part to put [2]

וַתִּבְטַ֤ח לְךָ֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
עַל־מִצְרַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
לְרֶ֖כֶב [2] Tip'cha
וּלְפָרָשִֽׁים׃ [1] Silluq

לְהַשְׁחִיתָ֑הּ [1] Etnachta

אָמַ֣ר אֵלַ֔י [2] Munach Zaqef
 
עֲלֵ֛ה [3] Tevir
אֶל־הָאָ֥רֶץ הַזֹּ֖את [2] Merkha Tip'cha
וְהַשְׁחִיתָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq

“Go up [3]
against this land, [2]

אֲנָ֑חְנוּ [1] Etnachta
 
וְאַל־תְּדַבֵּ֤ר אֵלֵ֙ינוּ֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta

בְּאׇזְנֵ֣י הָעָ֔ם [2] Munach Zaqef

אֶת־הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה [1] Munach Etnachta
 
הֲלֹ֣א עַל־הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים [3] Munach Revi'a
הַיֹּשְׁבִים֙ [3] Pashta
עַל־הַ֣חוֹמָ֔ה [2] Munach Zaqef
 
לֶאֱכֹ֣ל אֶת־*חראיהם **צוֹאָתָ֗ם [3] Munach Revi'a
וְלִשְׁתּ֛וֹת [3] Tevir
אֶת־*שיניהם **מֵימֵ֥י **רַגְלֵיהֶ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha
עִמָּכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq

וַיִּקְרָ֥א בְקוֹל־גָּד֖וֹל [2] Merkha Tip'cha
יְהוּדִ֑ית [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG
 
שִׁמְע֗וּ [3] Revi'a
אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֛י [3] Tevir
הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ הַגָּד֖וֹל [2] Merkha Tip'cha

and he called out with a loud voice [2]

“Hear [3]
the words [3]
of the great king, [2]
king of Assyria! [1]

אָמַ֣ר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ [2] Munach Zaqef
 
אַל־יַשִּׁ֥א לָכֶ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha
חִזְקִיָּ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֥י לֹֽא־יוּכַ֖ל [2] Merkha Tip'cha
לְהַצִּ֥יל אֶתְכֶֽם׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

‘Don’t let him deceive you, [2]
Hezekiah; [1]
 
for he will not be able [2]
to deliver you. [1]
15 וְאַל־יַבְטַ֨ח אֶתְכֶ֤ם חִזְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙ [3] Qadma Mapakh Pashta
אֶל־יְהֹוָ֣ה לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Munach Zaqef
 
הַצֵּ֥ל יַצִּילֵ֖נוּ [2] Merkha Tip'cha
יְהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
לֹ֤א תִנָּתֵן֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
הָעִ֣יר הַזֹּ֔את [2] Munach Zaqef
 
בְּיַ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 3 2 15 And do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust [3]
in the LORD by saying, [2]
 
“He will surely deliver us, [2]
the LORD; [1]
 
it will not be given, [3]
this city, [2]
 
into the hand [2]
of the king of Assyria.” ’ [1]

וּשְׁת֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
אִ֥ישׁ מֵֽי־בוֹרֽוֹ׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

‘Make peace with me [3]
and come out to me, [2]
 
then everyone will eat of his own vine [3]

and drink [2]
everyone the water of his own cistern, [1]

וְלָקַחְתִּ֥י אֶתְכֶ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha
אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ כְּאַרְצְכֶ֑ם [1] Munach Etnachta

וְתִיר֔וֹשׁ [2] Zaqef
 
אֶ֥רֶץ לֶ֖חֶם [2] Merkha Tip'cha
וּכְרָמִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

and I take you away [2]
to a land like your own land; [1]
 
a land of grain [3]
and new wine, [2]
 
a land of bread [2]
and vineyards. [1]
18 פֶּן־יַסִּ֨ית אֶתְכֶ֤ם חִזְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙ [3] Qadma Mapakh Pashta
לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
יַצִּילֵ֑נוּ [1] Etnachta
 
הַהִצִּ֜ילוּ [4] Geresh
אֱלֹהֵ֤י הַגּוֹיִם֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
אִ֣ישׁ אֶת־אַרְצ֔וֹ [2] Munach Zaqef
 
מִיַּ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

“The LORD, [2]
he will deliver us.” [1]

the gods of the nations, [3]
anyone's land [2]

of the king of Assyria? [1]

אֱלֹהֵ֤י חֲמָת֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
וְאַרְפָּ֔ד [2] Zaqef
 
אַיֵּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֱלֹהֵ֣י סְפַרְוָ֑יִם [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וְכִֽי־הִצִּ֥ילוּ אֶת־שֹׁמְר֖וֹן [2] Merkha Tip'cha
מִיָּדִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

are the gods of Hamath [3]
and Arpad? [2]
 
Where [2]
are the gods of Sepharvaim? [1]
 
And when have they delivered Samaria [2]
from my hand? [1]

בְּכׇל־אֱלֹהֵ֤י הָאֲרָצוֹת֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
הָאֵ֔לֶּה [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁר־הִצִּ֥ילוּ אֶת־אַרְצָ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha
מִיָּדִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
כִּֽי־יַצִּ֧יל יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Darga Tevir
אֶת־יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם [2] Tip'cha
מִיָּדִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

among all the gods of the lands, [3]
these, [2]
 
are those who have delivered their land [2]
from my hand; [1]
 
that the LORD should deliver [3]
Jerusalem [2]
from my hand?’ ” [1]
21 וַֽיַּחֲרִ֔ישׁוּ [2] Zaqef
וְלֹא־עָנ֥וּ אֹת֖וֹ [2] Merkha Tip'cha
דָּבָ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
כִּֽי־מִצְוַ֨ת הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ הִ֛יא [3] Qadma Merkha Tevir
לֵאמֹ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֥א תַעֲנֻֽהוּ׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

and they did not answer him [2]
a word; [1]
 
for the commandment of the king it was, [3]
saying, [2]
“Do not answer him.” [1]
22 וַיָּבֹ֣א אֶלְיָקִ֣ים בֶּן־חִלְקִיָּ֣הוּ אֲשֶׁר־עַל־הַ֠בַּ֠יִת [4] Munach Munach Munach TelishaG
וְשֶׁבְנָ֨א הַסֹּפֵ֜ר [4] Qadma Geresh
וְיוֹאָ֨ח בֶּן־אָסָ֧ף הַמַּזְכִּ֛יר [3] Qadma Darga Tevir
אֶל־חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ [2] Tip'cha
 
קְרוּעֵ֣י בְגָדִ֑ים [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וַיַּגִּ֣ידוּ ל֔וֹ [2] Munach Zaqef
אֵ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
דִּבְרֵ֥י רַבְשָׁקֵֽה׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
