| ישעה 36 | Isaiah 36 | |||
[2] Tip'cha |
1 Now it came to pass [4] in the four and tenth year [4] of king Hezekiah, [3] Sennacherib king of Assyria, [3] which were fortified, [2] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
2 And the king of Assyria sent [4] the chief commander from Lachish to Jerusalem [3] to the king Hezekiah [2] with a massive army; [1] by the aqueduct [3] of the upper pool [2] of the washer’s field. [1] |
3 Then he came out to him, [3] Eliakim son of Hilkiah [2] who was in charge of the palace; [1] the scribe, [2] the recorder. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
4 So he said to them, [3] the chief commander, [2] to Hezekiah; [1] the great king, [3] king of Assyria, [2] is this [2] (on) which you've been relying? [1] |
5 I say, [3] only a word of the lips [2] for the war; [1] on whom are you relying, [2] against me? [1] |
6 Behold, you rely [4] on the staff of this splintered reed, [3] on Egypt, [2] on it [2] and it will pierce it; [1] Pharaoh king of Egypt [2] in him. [1] |
7 But if you say to me, [2] ‘In the LORD our God [2] we trust;’ [1] the one of whom Hezekiah has removed [3] his high places and his altars, [2] and to Jerusalem, [2] this altar [2] you must worship?’ ” [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
8 So now [3] make a bargain [2] the king of Assyria; [1] two thousand horses, [2] on your part to put [2] riders on them. [1] |
| 9 וְאֵ֣יךְ תָּשִׁ֗יב [3] Munach Revi'a פְּנֵ֨י פַחַ֥ת אַחַ֛ד [3] Qadma Merkha Tevir עַבְדֵ֥י אֲדֹנִ֖י [2] Merkha Tip'cha עַל־מִצְרַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef וּלְפָרָשִֽׁים׃ [1] Silluq |
9 So how can you turn away [3] the face of one captain [3] of my master’s servants, [2] on Egypt [2] and for horsemen? [1] |
10 And now [3] without the LORD [2] against this land [2] to destroy it? [1] he said to me, [2] against this land, [2] and destroy it.” ’ ” [1] § |
| 11 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶלְיָקִים֩ וְשֶׁבְנָ֨א וְיוֹאָ֜ח [4] Munach TelishaQ Qadma Geresh אֶל־רַבְשָׁקֵ֗ה [3] Revi'a אֲרָמִ֔ית [2] Zaqef אֲנָ֑חְנוּ [1] Etnachta יְהוּדִ֔ית [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֖ר [2] Tip'cha עַל־הַחוֹמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
11 Then Eliakim and Shebna and Joah said [4] to the chief commander, [3] Aramaic, [2] are we; [1] Judean [2] who [2] are on the wall.” [1] |
| 12 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר רַבְשָׁקֵ֗ה [3] Munach Revi'a הַאֶ֨ל אֲדֹנֶ֤יךָ וְאֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ [3] Qadma Mapakh Pashta שְׁלָחַ֣נִי אֲדֹנִ֔י [2] Munach Zaqef אֶת־הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה [1] Munach Etnachta הַיֹּשְׁבִים֙ [3] Pashta עַל־הַ֣חוֹמָ֔ה [2] Munach Zaqef וְלִשְׁתּ֛וֹת [3] Tevir אֶת־*שיניהם **מֵימֵ֥י **רַגְלֵיהֶ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha עִמָּכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
12 But the chief commander said, [3] “(Only) to your master and to you [3] has my master sent me [2] these words? [1] who sit [3] on the wall, [2] and drink [3] their own urine [2] with you?” [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
13 Then he stood, [3] the chief commander, [2] (in) Judean; [1] the words [3] of the great king, [2] king of Assyria! [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
14 Thus [3] says the king, [2] Hezekiah; [1] to deliver you. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
15 And do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust [3] in the LORD by saying, [2] the LORD; [1] this city, [2] of the king of Assyria.” ’ [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
16 Don't listen [2] to Hezekiah; [1] ¶ the king of Assyria, [3] and come out to me, [2] and everyone of his own fig tree, [2] everyone the water of his own cistern, [1] |
17 until I come [2] and I take you away [2] to a land like your own land; [1] and new wine, [2] and vineyards. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
18 Beware lest Hezekiah should mislead you [3] by saying, [2] he will deliver us.” [1] the gods of the nations, [3] anyone's land [2] of the king of Assyria? [1] |
19 Where [4] are the gods of Hamath [3] and Arpad? [2] are the gods of Sepharvaim? [1] from my hand? [1] |

20 Who [3] among all the gods of the lands, [3] these, [2] from my hand; [1] Jerusalem [2] from my hand?’ ” [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
21 But they remained silent [2] and they did not answer him [2] a word; [1] saying, [2] “Do not answer him.” [1] |
22 Then Eliakim son of Hilkiah who was in charge of the palace came [4] with Shebna the scribe [4] and Joah son of Asaph the recorder, [3] to Hezekiah [2] -- [2] the words of the chief commander. [1] § |
