איוב 16 Job 16
1 וַיַּ֥עַן אִיּ֗וֹב [3/2] Revi'i
וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ [1] Silluq
2 1 Then Job answered [3/2]
and he said, [1]
2 שָׁמַ֣עְתִּי כְאֵ֣לֶּה [3] VDechi
רַבּ֑וֹת [2] Etnachta

מְנַחֲמֵ֖י עָמָ֣ל [2] VRevMug
כֻּלְּכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 2 “I have heard things like these, [3]
many; [2]

miserable comforters [2]
are you all. [1]
3 הֲקֵ֥ץ לְדִבְרֵי־ר֑וּחַ [2] Etnachta

א֥וֹ מַה־יַּ֝מְרִֽיצְךָ֗ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כִּ֣י תַֽעֲנֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 3 Is there any end to words of wind? [2]

Or what provokes you [2]
that you answer? [1]
4 גַּ֤ם ׀ [4] Mahpakh Legarmeh
אָנֹכִי֮ [3] Sinnor
כָּכֶ֢ם אֲדַ֫בֵּ֥רָה [2] Ole Veyored

ל֤וּ יֵ֪שׁ נַפְשְׁכֶ֡ם [4] Pazer
תַּ֤חַת נַפְשִׁ֗י [3] Revi'i

אַחְבִּ֣ירָה עֲלֵיכֶ֣ם [3] VDechi
בְּמִלִּ֑ים [2] Etnachta

וְאָנִ֥יעָה עֲ֝לֵיכֶ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בְּמ֣וֹ רֹאשִֽׁי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 2 3 4 3 2 4 Also [4]
I, [3]
like you I could speak, [2]

if your soul were there [4]
in my soul’s place, [3]

I could join against you [3]
with words, [2]

and I could shake at you [2]
with my head - [1]
5 אֲאַמִּצְכֶ֥ם בְּמוֹ־פִ֑י [2] Etnachta

וְנִ֖יד שְׂפָתַ֣י [2] VRevMug
יַחְשֹֽׂךְ׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 5 (but) I would strengthen you with my mouth; [2]

and the comfort of my lips, [2]
it would bring relief. [1]
6 אִֽם־אֲ֭דַבְּרָה [3] Dechi
לֹא־יֵחָשֵׂ֣ךְ כְּאֵבִ֑י [2] Etnachta

וְ֝אַחְדְּלָ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מַה־מִּנִּ֥י יַהֲלֹֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 6 “Yet if I speak, [3]
my pain is not relieved; [2]

and if I refrain, [2]
will it then go from me? [1]
7 אַךְ־עַתָּ֥ה הֶלְאָ֑נִי [2] Etnachta

הֲ֝שִׁמּ֗וֹתָ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כׇּל־עֲדָתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 7 But now he has made me weary; [2]

you have devastated [2]
all my household. [1]
8 וַֽ֭תִּקְמְטֵנִי [3] Dechi
לְעֵ֣ד הָיָ֑ה [2] Etnachta

וַיָּ֥קׇם בִּ֥י כַ֝חֲשִׁ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בְּפָנַ֥י יַעֲנֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 8 And you have seized me, [3]
a witness it has become; [2]

and my leanness has risen up against me, [2]
it testifies to my face. [1]
9 אַפּ֤וֹ טָרַ֨ף ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
וַֽיִּשְׂטְמֵ֗נִי [3] Revi'i

לִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 2 2 9 His wrath has torn [4]
and it has tormented me, [3]

he gnashes at me [3]
with his teeth; [2]

my adversary, [2]
he sharpens his eyes [2]
on me. [1]
10 פָּעֲר֬וּ עָלַ֨י ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
בְּפִיהֶ֗ם [3] Revi'i

בְּ֭חֶרְפָּה [3] Dechi
הִכּ֣וּ לְחָיָ֑י [2] Etnachta

יַ֝֗חַד [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עָלַ֥י יִתְמַלָּאֽוּן׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 2 10 People have gaped upon me [4]
with their mouth, [3]

in scorn [3]
they have struck my cheeks; [2]

together [2]
against me they set themselves. [1]
11 יַסְגִּירֵ֣נִי אֵ֭ל [3] Dechi
אֶ֣ל עֲוִ֑יל [2] Etnachta

וְעַל־יְדֵ֖י רְשָׁעִ֣ים [2] VRevMug
יִרְטֵֽנִי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 11 God delivers me up [3]
to the ungodly; [2]

and into the hands of the wicked [2]
he casts me. [1]
12 שָׁ֘לֵ֤ו הָיִ֨יתִי ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
וַֽיְפַרְפְּרֵ֗נִי [3] Revi'i

2 3 4 3 2 12 I was at ease [4]
but he shattered me, [3]

and he grabbed onto my neck [3]
and he crushed me; [2]

and he set me up for himself [2]
as a target. [1]
13 יָ֘סֹ֤בּוּ עָלַ֨י ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
רַבָּ֗יו [3] Revi'i

יְפַלַּ֣ח כִּ֭לְיוֹתַי [3] Dechi
וְלֹ֣א יַחְמֹ֑ל [2] Etnachta

יִשְׁפֹּ֥ךְ לָ֝אָ֗רֶץ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מְרֵרָתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 2 13 They surround me, [4]
his archers, [3]

he pierces my kidneys [3]
and he has no mercy; [2]

he pours out on the ground [2]
my gall. [1]
14 יִפְרְצֵ֣נִי פֶ֭רֶץ [3] Dechi
עַל־פְּנֵי־פָ֑רֶץ [2] Etnachta

יָרֻ֖ץ עָלַ֣י [2] VRevMug
כְּגִבּֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 14 He breaks through against me with breach [3]
upon breach; [2]

he runs against me [2]
like a warrior. [1]
15 שַׂ֣ק תָּ֭פַרְתִּי [3] Dechi
עֲלֵ֣י גִלְדִּ֑י [2] Etnachta

2 3 2 15 Sackcloth I have sewn [3]
over my skin; [2]

and I have laid in the dust [2]
my strength. [1]

2 3 2 16 My face is red [3]
from weeping; [2]

and on my eyelids [2]
is deep darkness, [1]
17 עַ֭ל [3] Dechi
לֹא־חָמָ֣ס בְּכַפָּ֑י [2] Etnachta

to God [2]
my eye pours out tears, [1]
21 וְיוֹכַ֣ח לְגֶ֣בֶר [3] VDechi
עִם־אֱל֑וֹהַּ [2] Etnachta

וּֽבֶן־אָדָ֥ם לְרֵעֵֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 21 that he would contend for a man [3]
with God; [2]

as a son of man for his friend. [1]

2 3 2 22 For a few years, [3]
they will come; [2]

and a way from which I shall not return, [2]
I shall go. [1]
