[1] Silluq |
2 “The wise, [3] does he answer with empty knowledge; [2] his belly? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
3 Does he argue with a word [3] that's of no use; [2] when no one profits by them? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
4 And you, [3] you do away with reverence; [2] before God. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
5 For your iniquity teaches [3] your mouth; [2] the language of the crafty. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
6 Your own mouth condemns you as guilty [3] and not I; [2] they testify against you. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
7 “The first man [3] born were you? [2] were you brought forth? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
8 In the secret counsel of God [3] do you listen; [2] wisdom? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
9 What do you know [3] that we don’t know - [2] that we don't have? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
10 Both the gray-haired and the aged [3] are among us; [2] in days. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
11 Too small for you [3] are the consolations of God? [2] of gentleness toward you? [1] |
[2] Etnachta |
12 Why does your heart carry you away; [2] |
[1] Silluq |
13 that you turn against God [3] your spirit; [2] (such) words? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
14 What is man that he could be pure; [2] one born of woman? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
15 Behold, in his holy ones [3] he puts no trust; [2] not pure are they in his sight, [1] |
[1] Silluq |
16 how much less [3] one who is abominable and corrupt; [2] unrighteousness. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
17 “I will show you, listen to me; [2] I will declare, [1] |
[1] Silluq |
18 which the wise have told; [2] what is from their ancestors, [1] |
[1] Silluq |
19 to whom alone [3] was the land given; [2] among them. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
20 All the days of the wicked [3] he writhes in pain; [2] stored up for the ruthless. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
21 A sound of terrors is in his ears; [2] does a destroyer come upon him. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
22 He doesn’t expect to return [3] from darkness; [2] for the sword. [1] |
23 He wanders about for bread - [3] ‘Where is it?’ [2] that ready at his hand [2] is a day of darkness. [1] |
24 They terrify him, [3] distress and anguish; [2] like a king [4/2] ready for battle. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
25 Because he has stretched out against God [3] his hand; [2] he behaves proudly, [1] |
[1] Silluq |
26 he runs against him [3] with a stiff neck; [2] boss of his shield, [1] |
[1] Silluq |
27 for he has covered his face [3] with his fat; [2] on (his) thighs. [1] |
28 And he has lived [4] in ruined cities, [3] which no one inhabits; [2] to crumble into heaps. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
29 He will not be rich [3] and his wealth will not endure; [2] their continuance. [1] |
30 He will not escape [4] from darkness, [3] a flame will dry up; [2] by the breath of His mouth. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
31 Let him not trust in emptiness, [3] leading himself astray; [2] it will be his reward. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
32 Not in his day [3] will it be completed; [2] it will not be green. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
33 He will shake off like a vine [3] his unripe grapes; [2] his blossoms. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
34 For the company of the godless [3] is barren; [2] it consumes the tents of a bribe. [1] |
35 They conceive trouble [3] and they give birth to wickedness; [2] it prepares deceit.” [1] ¶ |
