עַל־עֵ֣ין חֲרֹ֑ד [1] Etnachta
 
וּמַחֲנֵ֤ה מִדְיָן֙ [3] Pashta
הָיָה־ל֣וֹ מִצָּפ֔וֹן [2] Zaqef
 
מִגִּבְעַ֥ת הַמּוֹרֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בָּעֵֽמֶק׃ [1] Silluq

פֶּן־יִתְפָּאֵ֨ר עָלַ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ [3] Pashta

“Too many [3]
are the people [3]
who are with you, [2]
 
for me to give Midian [2]
into their hand; [1]
 
lest Israel should glorify itself against me [3]

‘My own hand, [2]
it has delivered me.’ [1]

and ten thousand [2]

the people are numerous. [2]
 
Bring them down [3]
to the water, [2]
 
so that I may test them for you [2]

And it shall be, [4]
the one whom I say to you, [4]
‘This one [4]
he shall go with you,’ [3]
 
he, [3]
he shall go with you; [2]
 
and whoever I say [4]
to you, [3]
 
‘This one [3]
he shall not go with you,’ [2]
 
he, [2]
he shall not go.” [1]

כֹּ֣ל אֲשֶׁר־יָלֹק֩ בִּלְשׁוֹנ֨וֹ מִן־הַמַּ֜יִם [4] Geresh
כַּאֲשֶׁ֧ר יָלֹ֣ק הַכֶּ֗לֶב [3] Revi'i
 
תַּצִּ֤יג אוֹתוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
לְבָ֔ד [2] Zaqef
 
וְכֹ֛ל [3] Tevir
אֲשֶׁר־יִכְרַ֥ע עַל־בִּרְכָּ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
לִשְׁתּֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq

“Everyone who laps up some of the water with his tongue, [4]
just as a dog laps, [3]
 
you shall set him [3]
apart; [2]
 
also every [3]
one who bows down on his knees [2]
to drink.” [1]

הַֽמְלַקְקִ֤ים בְּיָדָם֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־פִּיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
אִ֑ישׁ [1] Etnachta
 
וְכֹל֙ [3] Pashta
יֶ֣תֶר הָעָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
כָּרְע֥וּ עַל־בִּרְכֵיהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לִשְׁתּ֥וֹת מָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq

of those who lapped with their hand [3]
to their mouth, [2]
 
was three hundred [2]
men; [1]
 
and all [3]
the rest of the people, [2]
 
they bowed down on their knees [2]

7 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֜ה [4] Geresh
אֶל־גִּדְע֗וֹן [3] Revi'i
 
בִּשְׁלֹשׁ֩ מֵא֨וֹת הָאִ֤ישׁ הַֽמְלַקְקִים֙ [3] Pashta
אוֹשִׁ֣יעַ אֶתְכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וְנָתַתִּ֥י אֶת־מִדְיָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
בְּיָדֶ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta
 
וְכׇ֨ל־הָעָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
יֵלְכ֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
אִ֥ישׁ לִמְקֹמֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

to Gideon, [3]
 
“By the three hundred men who lapped [3]
I will deliver you, [2]
 
and I will give Midian [2]
into your hand. [1]
 
And all the (other) people [2]
let them go, [2]
each to his own place.” [1]
8 וַיִּקְח֣וּ אֶת־צֵדָה֩ הָעָ֨ם בְּיָדָ֜ם [4] Geresh
וְאֵ֣ת שׁוֹפְרֹֽתֵיהֶ֗ם [3] Revi'i
 
וְאֵ֨ת כׇּל־אִ֤ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ [3] Pashta
שִׁלַּח֙ [3] Pashta
אִ֣ישׁ לְאֹֽהָלָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
וּבִשְׁלֹשׁ־מֵא֥וֹת הָאִ֖ישׁ [2] Tip'cha
הֶחֱזִ֑יק [1] Etnachta
 
וּמַחֲנֵ֣ה מִדְיָ֔ן [2] Zaqef
הָ֥יָה ל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
מִתַּ֥חַת בָּעֵֽמֶק׃ [1] Silluq

and their shofars, [3]
 
and all (the rest) of the men of Israel [3]
he sent away [3]
each to his own tent, [2]
 
but on the three hundred men [2]
he kept hold; [1]
 
and the camp of Midian, [2]
it was to him [2]
below in the valley. [1]
9 וַֽיְהִי֙ [3] Pashta
בַּלַּ֣יְלָה הַה֔וּא [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ [3] Pashta
יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
ק֖וּם [2] Tip'cha
רֵ֣ד בַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֥י נְתַתִּ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
בְּיָדֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq

that night, [2]
 
he said to him, [3]
the LORD, [2]
 
“Arise, [2]
go down into the camp, [1]
 
for I have given it [2]
into your hand. [1]
10 וְאִם־יָרֵ֥א אַתָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לָרֶ֑דֶת [1] Etnachta
 
רֵ֥ד אַתָּ֛ה [3] Tevir
וּפֻרָ֥ה נַעַרְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 10 But if you are afraid [2]
to go down, [1]
 
go down, you [3]
with Purah your servant, [2]
to the camp. [1]
11 וְשָֽׁמַעְתָּ֙ [3] Pashta
מַה־יְדַבֵּ֔רוּ [2] Zaqef
 
וְאַחַר֙ [3] Pashta
תֶּחֱזַ֣קְנָה יָדֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְיָרַדְתָּ֖ [2] Tip'cha
בַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֵּ֤רֶד הוּא֙ [3] Pashta
וּפֻרָ֣ה נַעֲר֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
אֶל־קְצֵ֥ה הַחֲמֻשִׁ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אֲשֶׁ֥ר בַּֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq

what they say, [2]
 
and afterward [3]
your hands will be strong [2]
 
and you will go down [2]
into the camp.” [1]
 
Then he went down, he [3]
and Purah his servant, [2]
 
to the edge of the armed men [2]
who were in the camp. [1]
12 וּמִדְיָ֨ן וַעֲמָלֵ֤ק וְכׇל־בְּנֵי־קֶ֙דֶם֙ [3 3] Pashta
נֹפְלִ֣ים בָּעֵ֔מֶק [2] Zaqef
 
כָּאַרְבֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לָרֹ֑ב [1] Etnachta
 
וְלִגְמַלֵּיהֶם֙ [3] Pashta
אֵ֣ין מִסְפָּ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
כַּח֛וֹל [3] Tevir
שֶׁעַל־שְׂפַ֥ת הַיָּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לָרֹֽב׃ [1] Silluq

were lying in the valley, [2]
 
like locusts [2]
for multitude; [1]
 
and their camels were [3]
without number, [2]
 
like the sand [3]
which is on the seashore [2]
for multitude. [1]
13 וַיָּבֹ֣א גִדְע֔וֹן [2] Zaqef
וְהִ֨נֵּה־אִ֔ישׁ [2] Zaqef
מְסַפֵּ֥ר לְרֵעֵ֖הוּ [2] Tip'cha
חֲל֑וֹם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֜אמֶר [4] Geresh
הִנֵּ֧ה חֲל֣וֹם חָלַ֗מְתִּי [3] Revi'i
 
וְהִנֵּ֨ה צְלִ֜יל [4] Geresh
לֶ֤חֶם שְׂעֹרִים֙ [3] Pashta
 
מִתְהַפֵּךְ֙ [3] Pashta
בְּמַחֲנֵ֣ה מִדְיָ֔ן [2] Zaqef
 
וַיָּבֹ֣א עַד־הָ֠אֹ֠הֶל [4 4] TelishaG
וַיַּכֵּ֧הוּ וַיִּפֹּ֛ל [3] Tevir
וַיַּהַפְכֵ֥הוּ לְמַ֖עְלָה [2] Tip'cha
וְנָפַ֥ל הָאֹֽהֶל׃ [1] Silluq

behold, a man [2]
was recounting to his neighbor [2]
a dream; [1]
 
and he said, [4]
“Behold, I dreamed a dream, [3]
 
and behold, a round loaf [4]
of barley bread [3]
 
was tumbling [3]
into the camp of Midian, [2]
 
and it came to the tent [4 4]
and struck it and it fell, [3]
and turned it upside down, [2]
and the tent fell.” [1]
14 וַיַּ֨עַן רֵעֵ֤הוּ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֵ֣ין זֹ֔את [2] Zaqef
 
בִּלְתִּ֗י [3] Revi'i
אִם־חֶ֛רֶב [3] Tevir
גִּדְע֥וֹן בֶּן־יוֹאָ֖שׁ [2] Tip'cha
אִ֣ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
נָתַ֤ן הָאֱלֹהִים֙ [3] Pashta
בְּיָד֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
אֶת־מִדְיָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
וְאֶת־כׇּל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq

“This is nothing [2]
 
other than [3]
the sword [3]
of Gideon the son of Joash, [2]
a man of Israel. [1]
 
God has given [3]
into his hand, [2]
 
Midian [2]
and all the army.” [1]
15 וַיְהִי֩ כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ גִּדְע֜וֹן [4] Geresh
אֶת־מִסְפַּ֧ר הַחֲל֛וֹם [3] Tevir
וְאֶת־שִׁבְר֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
וַיִּשְׁתָּ֑חוּ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיָּ֙שׇׁב֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֶל־מַחֲנֵ֣ה יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ק֔וּמוּ [2] Zaqef
 
כִּֽי־נָתַ֧ן יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Tevir
בְּיֶדְכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־מַחֲנֵ֥ה מִדְיָֽן׃ [1] Silluq

the recounting of the dream [3]
and its interpretation, [2]
he bowed in worship. [1]
 
And he returned [3 3]
to the camp of Israel [2]
 
and he said, “Arise, [2]
 
for the LORD has given [3]
into your hand [2]
the camp of Midian!” [1]
16 וַיַּ֛חַץ [3] Tevir
אֶת־שְׁלֹשׁ־מֵא֥וֹת הָאִ֖ישׁ [2] Tip'cha
שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה רָאשִׁ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּתֵּ֨ן שׁוֹפָר֤וֹת בְּיַד־כֻּלָּם֙ [3] Pashta
וְכַדִּ֣ים רֵיקִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וְלַפִּדִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
בְּת֥וֹךְ הַכַּדִּֽים׃ [1] Silluq

the three hundred men [2]
(into) three companies; [1]
 
and he put in the hands of all them shofars [3]
and empty pitchers, [2]
 
with torches [2]
inside the pitchers. [1]
17 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
מִמֶּ֥נִּי תִרְא֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
וְכֵ֣ן תַּעֲשׂ֑וּ [1] Etnachta
 
וְהִנֵּ֨ה אָנֹכִ֥י בָא֙ [3] Pashta
בִּקְצֵ֣ה הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְהָיָ֥ה כַאֲשֶׁר־אֶעֱשֶׂ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
כֵּ֥ן תַּעֲשֽׂוּן׃ [1] Silluq

“From me you will see, [2]
and thus you will do. [1]
 
Behold, when I come [3]
to the edge of the camp, [2]
 
it shall be that just as I do, [2]
so shall you do. [1]
18 וְתָֽקַעְתִּי֙ [3] Pashta
בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
אָנֹכִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתִּ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וּתְקַעְתֶּ֨ם בַּשּׁוֹפָר֜וֹת [4] Geresh
גַּם־אַתֶּ֗ם [3] Revi'i
 
סְבִיבוֹת֙ [3] Pashta
כׇּל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לַיהֹוָ֥ה וּלְגִדְעֽוֹן׃ [1] Silluq

on the shofar, [2]

and all who are with me; [1]
 
then give a blast on the shofars [4]
you also [3]
 
on every side of [3]
all the camp, [2]
 
and shout, [2]
‘For the LORD and for Gideon!’ ” [1]
19 וַיָּבֹ֣א גִ֠דְע֠וֹן [4 4] TelishaG
וּמֵאָה־אִ֨ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־אִתּ֜וֹ [4] Geresh
בִּקְצֵ֣ה הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֗ה [3] Revi'i
 
רֹ֚אשׁ [3] Yetiv
הָאַשְׁמֹ֣רֶת הַתִּיכוֹנָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
אַ֛ךְ [3] Tevir
הָקֵ֥ם הֵקִ֖ימוּ [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־הַשֹּׁמְרִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וַֽיִּתְקְעוּ֙ [3] Pashta
בַּשּׁ֣וֹפָר֔וֹת [2] Zaqef
 
וְנָפ֥וֹץ הַכַּדִּ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּיָדָֽם׃ [1] Silluq

with the hundred men who were with him [4]
to the edge of the camp, [3]
 
the beginning [3]
of the middle watch, [2]
 
just [3]
when they had newly stationed [2]
the watchmen; [1]
 
and they gave a blast [3]
on the shofars, [2]
 
and they smashed the pitchers [2]
that were in their hands. [1]
20 וַֽ֠יִּתְקְע֠וּ [4 4] TelishaG
שְׁלֹ֨שֶׁת הָרָאשִׁ֥ים בַּשּׁוֹפָרוֹת֮ [3] Zarqa
וַיִּשְׁבְּר֣וּ הַכַּדִּים֒ [2] Segol
 
וַיַּחֲזִ֤יקוּ בְיַד־שְׂמֹאולָם֙ [3] Pashta
בַּלַּפִּדִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וּ֨בְיַד־יְמִינָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
הַשּׁוֹפָר֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
לִתְק֑וֹעַ [1] Etnachta
 
וַֽיִּקְרְא֔וּ [2] Zaqef
חֶ֥רֶב לַיהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וּלְגִדְעֽוֹן׃ [1] Silluq

the three companies on the shofars, [3]
and they broke the pitchers, [2]
 
and they held in their left hands [3]
the torches, [2]
 
and in their right hands [2]
the shofars [2]
to give a blast; [1]
 
and they shouted, [2]
“A sword for the LORD [2]
and for Gideon!” [1]
21 וַיַּֽעַמְדוּ֙ [3] Pashta
אִ֣ישׁ תַּחְתָּ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
סָבִ֖יב [2] Tip'cha
לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַיָּ֧רׇץ כׇּל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֛ה [3] Tevir
וַיָּרִ֖יעוּ [2] Tip'cha
*ויניסו **וַיָּנֽוּסוּ׃ [1] Silluq

each in his place [2]
 
around [2]
the camp; [1]
 
and all the army ran [3]
and they shouted in distress [2]
as they fled. [1]
22 וַֽיִּתְקְעוּ֮ [3] Zarqa
שְׁלֹשׁ־מֵא֣וֹת הַשּׁוֹפָרוֹת֒ [2] Segol
 
וַיָּ֣שֶׂם יְהֹוָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
אֵ֣ת חֶ֥רֶב אִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir
בְּרֵעֵ֖הוּ [2] Tip'cha
וּבְכׇל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַיָּ֨נׇס הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֜ה [4] Geresh
עַד־בֵּ֤ית הַשִּׁטָּה֙ [3] Pashta
צְֽרֵרָ֔תָה [2] Zaqef
 
עַ֛ד [3] Tevir
שְׂפַת־אָבֵ֥ל מְחוֹלָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
עַל־טַבָּֽת׃ [1] Silluq

the three hundred shofars, [2]
 
and the LORD set [3]
each one’s sword [3]
against his neighbor [2]
and against all the army; [1]
 
and the army fled [4]
to Beth Shittah [3]

וּמִן־כׇּל־מְנַשֶּׁ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַֽיִּרְדְּפ֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
אַחֲרֵ֥י מִדְיָֽן׃ [1] Silluq

from Naphtali and from Asher [2]
and from all Manasseh; [1]
