1 Then he rose early Jerubbaal, [4] that is, Gideon, [3] who were with him, [2] at En-Harod; [1] it was north of them, [2] in the valley. [1] § |
|||
2 And the LORD said [3] to Gideon, [2] are the people [3] who are with you, [2] into their hand; [1] saying, [2] it has delivered me.’ [1] |
|||
3 Now therefore, [3] in the ears of the people, [3] saying, [2] let him go back and depart [2] from the mountain of Gilead.’ ” [1] twenty and two [3 3] thousand, [2] remained. [1] § |
|||
4 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֜ה [4] Geresh אֶל־גִּדְע֗וֹן [3] Revi'i הָעָ֣ם רָב֒ [2] Segol אֶל־הַמַּ֔יִם [2] Zaqef שָׁ֑ם [1] Etnachta אֲשֶׁר֩ אֹמַ֨ר אֵלֶ֜יךָ [4] Geresh זֶ֣ה ׀ [4] Legarmeh יֵלֵ֣ךְ אִתָּ֗ךְ [3] Revi'i יֵלֵ֣ךְ אִתָּ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef אֵלֶ֗יךָ [3] Revi'i לֹא־יֵלֵ֣ךְ עִמָּ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef לֹ֥א יֵלֵֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
4 And the LORD said [4] to Gideon, [3] the people are numerous. [2] to the water, [2] there. [1] the one whom I say to you, [4] ‘This one [4] he shall go with you,’ [3] he shall go with you; [2] to you, [3] he shall not go with you,’ [2] he shall not go.” [1] |
|||
5 So he brought down the people [2] to the water; [1] to Gideon, [3] just as a dog laps, [3] apart; [2] one who bows down on his knees [2] to drink.” [1] |
|||
6 And it was, [3] of those who lapped with their hand [3] to their mouth, [2] men; [1] the rest of the people, [2] to drink water. [1] § |
|||
7 And the LORD said [4] to Gideon, [3] I will deliver you, [2] into your hand. [1] let them go, [2] each to his own place.” [1] |
|||
8 So the (retained) people took provisions in their hand [4] and their shofars, [3] he sent away [3] each to his own tent, [2] he kept hold; [1] it was to him [2] below in the valley. [1] ¶ |
|||
9 And it was, [3] that night, [2] the LORD, [2] go down into the camp, [1] into your hand. [1] |

|||
11 And you will hear [3] what they say, [2] your hands will be strong [2] into the camp.” [1] and Purah his servant, [2] who were in the camp. [1] |

12 And Midian and Amalek and all the children of the east [3 3] were lying in the valley, [2] for multitude; [1] without number, [2] which is on the seashore [2] for multitude. [1] |
|||
13 When Gideon had come, [2] behold, a man [2] was recounting to his neighbor [2] a dream; [1] “Behold, I dreamed a dream, [3] of barley bread [3] into the camp of Midian, [2] and struck it and it fell, [3] and turned it upside down, [2] and the tent fell.” [1] |

14 And his neighbor answered and said, [3 3] “This is nothing [2] the sword [3] of Gideon the son of Joash, [2] a man of Israel. [1] into his hand, [2] and all the army.” [1] ¶ |
|||
15 And when Gideon heard [4] the recounting of the dream [3] and its interpretation, [2] he bowed in worship. [1] to the camp of Israel [2] into your hand [2] the camp of Midian!” [1] |
|||
16 And he divided [3] the three hundred men [2] (into) three companies; [1] and empty pitchers, [2] inside the pitchers. [1] |
|||
17 And he said to them, [2] “From me you will see, [2] and thus you will do. [1] to the edge of the camp, [2] so shall you do. [1] |

18 When I give a blast [3] on the shofar, [2] and all who are with me; [1] you also [3] all the camp, [2] ‘For the LORD and for Gideon!’ ” [1] ¶ |
