1 And the children of Israel did [3] that which was evil [2] in the eyes of the LORD; [1] into the hand of Midian [2] seven years. [1] |

2 וַתָּ֥עׇז יַד־מִדְיָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta עָשׂ֥וּ לָהֶ֣ם ׀ [4] Legarmeh בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל [3] Revi'i אֲשֶׁ֣ר בֶּהָרִ֔ים [2] Zaqef וְאֶת־הַמְּצָדֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq |
2 And the hand of Midian prevailed [2] over Israel; [1] they made for themselves, [4] the children of Israel, [3] which are in the mountains, [2] and the strongholds. [1] |

3 וְהָיָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אִם־זָרַ֣ע יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta וּבְנֵי־קֶ֖דֶם [2] Tip'cha וְעָל֥וּ עָלָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq |
3 So it was, [2] when Israel sowed; [1] and the children of the east, [2] and they went up against them. [1] |

4 וַיַּֽחֲנ֣וּ עֲלֵיהֶ֗ם [3] Revi'i וַיַּשְׁחִ֙יתוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta אֶת־יְב֣וּל הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef עַזָּ֑ה [1] Etnachta בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef וַחֲמֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq |
4 They encamped against them, [3] and they destroyed [3 3] the produce of the land, [2] to Gaza. [1] in Israel, [2] or donkey. [1] |

5 For [4] they and their livestock came up [4] with their tents, [3] for multitude; [2] no number; [1] to destroy it. [1] |

6 וַיִּדַּ֧ל יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל [3] Tevir מְאֹ֖ד [2] Tip'cha מִפְּנֵ֣י מִדְיָ֑ן [1] Etnachta אֶל־יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq פ |
6 And Israel was brought low [3] greatly [2] because of Midian; [1] to the LORD. [1] ¶ |

7 וַיְהִ֕י [2] ZaqefG כִּֽי־זָעֲק֥וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha אֶל־יְהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta אֹד֥וֹת מִדְיָֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
7 When [2] the children of Israel cried out [2] to the LORD, [1] account of Midian, [1] |

8 וַיִּשְׁלַ֧ח יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Tevir אִ֥ישׁ נָבִ֖יא [2] Tip'cha אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta כֹּה־אָמַ֥ר יְהֹוָ֣ה ׀ [4] Legarmeh אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל [3] Revi'i הֶעֱלֵ֤יתִי אֶתְכֶם֙ [3] Pashta מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef מִבֵּ֥ית עֲבָדִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
8 the LORD sent [3] a prophet [2] to the children of Israel; [1] “Thus says the LORD, [4] the God of Israel, [3] I brought you up [3] from Egypt, [2] from a house of bondage. [1] |

9 And I delivered you [3] from the hand of Egypt, [2] of all who oppressed you; [1] from before you, [2] their land. [1] |

10 וָאֹמְרָ֣ה לָכֶ֗ם [3] Revi'i אֲנִי֙ [3] Pashta יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef אֶת־אֱלֹהֵ֣י הָאֱמֹרִ֔י [2] Zaqef יוֹשְׁבִ֣ים בְּאַרְצָ֑ם [1] Etnachta בְּקוֹלִֽי׃ [1] Silluq פ |
10 And I said to you, [3] “I [3] am the LORD your God. [2] the gods of the Amorites, [2] are dwelling in their land.” [1] to my voice.’ ” [1] ¶ |

11 וַיָּבֹ֞א [4] Gershayim מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהֹוָ֗ה [3] Revi'i תַּ֤חַת הָֽאֵלָה֙ [3] Pashta אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּעׇפְרָ֔ה [2] Zaqef אֲבִ֣י הָעֶזְרִ֑י [1] Etnachta חֹבֵ֤ט חִטִּים֙ [3] Pashta בַּגַּ֔ת [2] Zaqef מִפְּנֵ֥י מִדְיָֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
11 And he came, [4] the angel of the LORD, [3] under the oak [3] which was in Ophrah, [2] the Abiezrite. [1] was beating out wheat [3] in the wine press, [2] from before Midian. [1] |

12 וַיֵּרָ֥א אֵלָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta יְהֹוָ֥ה עִמְּךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha גִּבּ֥וֹר הֶחָֽיִל׃ [1] Silluq |
12 And he appeared to him, [2] the angel of the LORD, [1] “The LORD is with you, [2] O mighty man of strength!” [1] |

13 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלָ֤יו גִּדְעוֹן֙ [3] Pashta בִּ֣י אֲדֹנִ֔י [2] Zaqef עִמָּ֔נוּ [2] Zaqef כׇּל־זֹ֑את [1] Etnachta אֲשֶׁר֩ סִפְּרוּ־לָ֨נוּ אֲבוֹתֵ֜ינוּ [4] Geresh לֵאמֹ֗ר [3] Revi'i הֶעֱלָ֣נוּ יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef נְטָשָׁ֣נוּ יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef בְּכַף־מִדְיָֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
13 And Gideon said to him, [3] “Oh, my lord, [2] is with us, [2] all this? [1] which our fathers recounted to us [4] saying, [3] the LORD bring us up?’ [2] the LORD has abandoned us, [2] into the hand of Midian.” [1] |

14 וַיִּ֤פֶן אֵלָיו֙ [3] Pashta יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef לֵ֚ךְ [3] Yetiv בְּכֹחֲךָ֣ זֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef מִכַּ֣ף מִדְיָ֑ן [1] Etnachta שְׁלַחְתִּֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
14 And he turned to him [3] the LORD, [2] “Go [3] in this your strength, [2] from the hand of Midian. [1] I sent you?” [1] |

15 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ [3] Pashta בִּ֣י אֲדֹנָ֔י [2] Zaqef אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta הַדַּ֣ל בִּמְנַשֶּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef בְּבֵ֥ית אָבִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
15 And he said to him, [3] “O Lord, [2] Israel? [1] is the weakest in Manasseh, [2] in the house of my father.” [1] |

16 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ [3] Pashta יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef עִמָּ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta כְּאִ֥ישׁ אֶחָֽד׃ [1] Silluq |
16 And he said to him, [3] the LORD, [2] with you, [1] as one man.” [1] |

17 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔יו [2] Zaqef מָצָ֥אתִי חֵ֖ן [2] Tip'cha בְּעֵינֶ֑יךָ [1] Etnachta א֔וֹת [2] Zaqef מְדַבֵּ֥ר עִמִּֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
17 And he said to him, [2] I have found favor [2] in your eyes; [1] a sign, [2] who are speaking with me. [1] |

18 אַל־נָ֨א תָמֻ֤שׁ מִזֶּה֙ [3] Pashta עַד־בֹּאִ֣י אֵלֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef אֶת־מִנְחָתִ֔י [2] Zaqef לְפָנֶ֑יךָ [1] Etnachta אָנֹכִ֥י אֵשֵׁ֖ב [2] Tip'cha עַ֥ד שׁוּבֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
18 Please don’t go away [3] until I come to you, [2] my gift, [2] before you.” [1] “I will wait [2] until you return.” [1] |

19 וְגִדְע֣וֹן בָּ֗א [3] Revi'i וַיַּ֤עַשׂ גְּדִֽי־עִזִּים֙ [3] Pashta וְאֵיפַת־קֶ֣מַח מַצּ֔וֹת [2] Zaqef שָׂ֣ם בַּסַּ֔ל [2] Zaqef שָׂ֣ם בַּפָּר֑וּר [1] Etnachta אֶל־תַּ֥חַת הָאֵלָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha וַיַּגַּֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq פ |
19 And Gideon went [3] and he prepared a young goat [3] and an efah of flour of unleavened bread. [2] he put in the basket, [2] he put in the pot; [1] to beneath the oak, [2] and he presented them. [1] § |

20 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלָ֜יו [4] Geresh מַלְאַ֣ךְ הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים [3] Revi'i וְהַנַּח֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־הַסֶּ֣לַע הַלָּ֔ז [2] Zaqef שְׁפ֑וֹךְ [1] Etnachta כֵּֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
20 And he said to him, [4] the angel of God, [3] and set [3] on this rock, [2] pour out.” [1] so. [1] |

21 וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח [4] Gershayim מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהֹוָ֗ה [3] Revi'i אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּיָד֔וֹ [2] Zaqef וּבַמַּצּ֑וֹת [1] Etnachta מִן־הַצּ֗וּר [3] Revi'i וְאֶת־הַמַּצּ֔וֹת [2] Zaqef הָלַ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha מֵעֵינָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq |
21 Then he stretched out, [4] the angel of the LORD, [3] which was in his hand, [2] and the unleavened bread; [1] from the rock, [3] and the unleavened bread. [2] he departed [2] from his sight. [1] |

22 וַיַּ֣רְא גִּדְע֔וֹן [2] Zaqef כִּֽי־מַלְאַ֥ךְ יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha ה֑וּא [1] Etnachta אֲהָהּ֙ [3] Pashta אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה [2] Zaqef מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef אֶל־פָּנִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
22 And Gideon saw [2] that the angel of the LORD [2] he was; [1] “Alas, [3] O Lord GOD! [2] the angel of the LORD [2] to face!” [1] |

23 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר ל֧וֹ יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Tevir שָׁל֥וֹם לְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha אַל־תִּירָ֑א [1] Etnachta תָּמֽוּת׃ [1] Silluq |
23 And the LORD said to him, [3] “Peace be to you! [2] Don’t be afraid. [1] shall you die.” [1] |

24 וַיִּ֩בֶן֩ שָׁ֨ם גִּדְע֤וֹן מִזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ [3 3] Pashta לַֽיהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef שָׁל֑וֹם [1] Etnachta הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֔ה [2] Zaqef בְּעׇפְרָ֖ת [2] Tip'cha אֲבִ֥י הָעֶזְרִֽי׃ [1] Silluq ס |
24 Then Gideon built there an altar [3 3] to the LORD, [2] is Peace.” [1] this day [2] is in Ophrah [2] of the Abiezrites. [1] ¶ |

25 וַיְהִי֮ [3] Zarqa בַּלַּ֣יְלָה הַהוּא֒ [2] Segol קַ֤ח אֶת־פַּר־הַשּׁוֹר֙ [3] Pashta אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְאָבִ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֑ים [1] Etnachta אֶת־מִזְבַּ֤ח הַבַּ֙עַל֙ [3 3] Pashta אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְאָבִ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef תִּכְרֹֽת׃ [1] Silluq |
25 And it was [3] that night, [2] “Take the young bull [3] which belongs to your father, [2] seven years old; [1] the altar of Baal [3 3] that belongs to your father, [2] cut down. [1] |

26 וּבָנִ֨יתָ מִזְבֵּ֜חַ [4] Geresh לַיהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ [3] Revi'i הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אֶת־הַפָּ֣ר הַשֵּׁנִ֔י [2] Zaqef בַּעֲצֵ֥י הָאֲשֵׁרָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אֲשֶׁ֥ר תִּכְרֹֽת׃ [1] Silluq |
26 Then build an altar [4] to the LORD your God [3] this, [2] the second young bull, [2] with the wood of the Asherah pole [2] which you shall cut down.” [1] |

27 וַיִּקַּ֨ח גִּדְע֜וֹן [4] Geresh עֲשָׂרָ֤ה אֲנָשִׁים֙ [3] Pashta מֵעֲבָדָ֔יו [2] Zaqef דִּבֶּ֥ר אֵלָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha יְהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר יָרֵא֩ אֶת־בֵּ֨ית אָבִ֜יו [4] Geresh וְאֶת־אַנְשֵׁ֥י הָעִ֛יר [3] Tevir מֵעֲשׂ֥וֹת יוֹמָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha |
27 And Gideon took [4] ten men [3] of his servants, [2] he had told him, [2] the LORD. [1] since he feared the household of his father [4] and the men of the city [3] from doing it by day, [2] |

28 וַיַּשְׁכִּ֜ימוּ [4] Geresh אַנְשֵׁ֤י הָעִיר֙ [3] Pashta בַּבֹּ֔קֶר [2] Zaqef מִזְבַּ֣ח הַבַּ֔עַל [2] Zaqef כֹּרָ֑תָה [1] Etnachta הַפָּ֣ר הַשֵּׁנִ֔י [2] Zaqef עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ [2] Tip'cha הַבָּנֽוּי׃ [1] Silluq |
28 When they rose early, [4] the men of the city, [3] in the morning, [2] the altar of Baal, [2] was cut down; [1] the second young bull, [2] on the altar [2] that had been built. [1] |

29 וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ [3] Pashta אִ֣ישׁ אֶל־רֵעֵ֔הוּ [2] Zaqef הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה [1] Etnachta וַיְבַקְשׁ֔וּ [2] Zaqef בֶּן־יוֹאָ֔שׁ [2] Zaqef הַדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
29 And they said [3] to each other, [2] this thing?” [1] and they searched, [2] the son of Joash, [2] this thing.” [1] |

30 וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ [4] Geresh אַנְשֵׁ֤י הָעִיר֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־יוֹאָ֔שׁ [2] Zaqef וְיָמֹ֑ת [1] Etnachta אֶת־מִזְבַּ֣ח הַבַּ֔עַל [2] Zaqef הָאֲשֵׁרָ֥ה אֲשֶׁר־עָלָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq |
30 And they said, [4] the men of the city [3] to Joash, [2] that he may die, [1] the altar of Baal, [2] the Asherah pole that was by it.” [1] |

31 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יוֹאָ֡שׁ [4] Pazer לְכֹל֩ אֲשֶׁר־עָמְד֨וּ עָלָ֜יו [4] Geresh הַאַתֶּ֣ם ׀ [4] Legarmeh תְּרִיב֣וּן לַבַּ֗עַל [3] Revi'i תּוֹשִׁיע֣וּן אוֹת֔וֹ [2] Zaqef יוּמַ֖ת [2] Tip'cha עַד־הַבֹּ֑קֶר [1] Etnachta יָ֣רֶב ל֔וֹ [2] Zaqef אֶֽת־מִזְבְּחֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
31 And Joash said [4] to all who stood against him, [4] “You, [4] will you contend for Baal? [3] will you deliver him? [2] let him be put to death [2] by morning! [1] let him contend for himself, [2] his altar!” [1] |

32 וַיִּקְרָא־ל֥וֹ בַיּוֹם־הַה֖וּא [2] Tip'cha יְרֻבַּ֣עַל לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta הַבַּ֔עַל [2] Zaqef אֶֽת־מִזְבְּחֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq ס |
32 And on that day he was called [2] Jerub-Baal, saying, [1] Baal, [2] his altar.” [1] ¶ |

33 וְכׇל־מִדְיָ֧ן וַעֲמָלֵ֛ק [3] Tevir וּבְנֵי־קֶ֖דֶם [2] Tip'cha נֶאֶסְפ֣וּ יַחְדָּ֑ו [1] Etnachta בְּעֵ֥מֶק יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃ [1] Silluq |
33 And all Midian and Amalek [3] and the children of the east, [2] they gathered together; [1] in the valley of Jezreel. [1] |

34 וְר֣וּחַ יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef לָבְשָׁ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אֶת־גִּדְע֑וֹן [1] Etnachta בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר [2] Zaqef אַחֲרָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq |
34 And the Spirit of the LORD [2] came on [2] Gideon; [1] on the ram's horn, [2] to follow him. [1] |

35 וּמַלְאָכִים֙ [3] Pashta שָׁלַ֣ח בְּכׇל־מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef אַחֲרָ֑יו [1] Etnachta בְּאָשֵׁ֤ר וּבִזְבֻלוּן֙ [3] Pashta וּבְנַפְתָּלִ֔י [2] Zaqef לִקְרָאתָֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
35 And messengers [3] he sent throughout all Manasseh, [2] to follow him; [1] to Asher and to Zebulun [3] and to Naphtali, [2] to meet them. [1] |

36 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר גִּדְע֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha אֶל־הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים [1] Etnachta מוֹשִׁ֧יעַ בְּיָדִ֛י [3] Tevir אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּֽרְתָּ׃ [1] Silluq |
36 Then Gideon said [2] to God, [1] are going to deliver by my hand [3] Israel, [2] just as you have spoken, [1] |

37 הִנֵּ֣ה אָנֹכִ֗י [3] Revi'i מַצִּ֛יג [3] Tevir אֶת־גִּזַּ֥ת הַצֶּ֖מֶר [2] Tip'cha בַּגֹּ֑רֶן [1] Etnachta טַל֩ יִֽהְיֶ֨ה עַֽל־הַגִּזָּ֜ה [4] Geresh לְבַדָּ֗הּ [3] Revi'i חֹ֔רֶב [2] Zaqef כִּֽי־תוֹשִׁ֧יעַ בְּיָדִ֛י [3] Tevir אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּֽרְתָּ׃ [1] Silluq |
37 behold, I [3] am placing [3] a fleece of wool [2] on the threshing floor. [1] there is dew on the fleece, [4] it alone, [3] dryness, [2] that you will deliver by my hand [3] Israel, [2] just as you have spoken.” [1] |

38 וַיְהִי־כֵ֕ן [2] ZaqefG מִֽמׇּחֳרָ֔ת [2] Zaqef אֶת־הַגִּזָּ֑ה [1] Etnachta מִן־הַגִּזָּ֔ה [2] Zaqef מָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq |
38 And it was so - [2] on the next day, [2] the fleece; [1] from the fleece, [2] of water. [1] |

39 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר גִּדְעוֹן֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef בִּ֔י [2] Zaqef אַ֣ךְ הַפָּ֑עַם [1] Etnachta בַּגִּזָּ֔ה [2] Zaqef לְבַדָּ֔הּ [2] Zaqef יִֽהְיֶה־טָּֽל׃ [1] Silluq |
39 And Gideon said [3] to God, [2] against me, [2] just once more. [1] with the fleece. [2] it alone, [2] let there be dew.” [1] |

40 And God did [3] so [2] that night; [1] it alone, [2] there was dew. [1] ¶ |
