1 כִּֽי־תֵ֭שֵׁב [3] Dechi לִלְח֣וֹם אֶת־מוֹשֵׁ֑ל [2] Etnachta אֶת־אֲשֶׁ֥ר לְפָנֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
1 When you sit down [3] to eat with a ruler; [2] what is before you, [1] |

2 וְשַׂמְתָּ֣ שַׂכִּ֣ין [3] VDechi בְּלֹעֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta אָֽתָּה׃ [1] Silluq |
2 and put a knife [3] to your throat; [2] are you. [1] |
|||
3 אַל־תִּ֭תְאָו [3] Dechi לְמַטְעַמּוֹתָ֑יו [2] Etnachta לֶ֣חֶם כְּזָבִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
3 Don’t crave [3] his delicious food; [2] deceptive food. [1] |

4 אַל־תִּיגַ֥ע לְֽהַעֲשִׁ֑יר [2] Etnachta |
4 Don’t weary yourself to be rich; [2] |

5 *התעוף **הֲתָ֤עִיף עֵינֶ֥יךָ בּ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i וְֽאֵ֫ינֶ֥נּוּ [2] Ole Veyored כְנָפַ֑יִם [2] Etnachta *ועיף **יָע֥וּף הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq פ |
5 You set your eyes on it [3] and it is gone; [2] wings, [2] it flies off into the sky. [1] ¶ |

6 אַל־תִּלְחַ֗ם [3] Revi'i אֶת־לֶ֭חֶם [3] Dechi רַ֣ע עָ֑יִן [2] Etnachta לְמַטְעַמֹּתָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq |
6 Don’t eat [3] the food [3] of a stingy person; [2] his delicacies, [1] |

7 כִּ֤י ׀ [4] Mahpakh Legarmeh כְּמ֥וֹ שָׁעַ֥ר בְּנַפְשׁ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i כֶּ֫ן־ה֥וּא [2] Ole Veyored יֹ֣אמַר לָ֑ךְ [2] Etnachta בַּל־עִמָּֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
7 for [4] as he thinks within himself, [3] so is he; [2] he says to you, [2] is not with you. [1] |

8 פִּֽתְּךָ־אָכַ֥לְתָּ תְקִיאֶ֑נָּה [2] Etnachta דְּבָרֶ֥יךָ הַנְּעִימִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
8 The little you have eaten you shall vomit up; [2] your pleasant words. [1] |

9 בְּאׇזְנֵ֣י כְ֭סִיל [3] Dechi אַל־תְּדַבֵּ֑ר [2] Etnachta לְשֵׂ֣כֶל מִלֶּֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
9 In the ears of a fool [3] do not speak; [2] the wisdom of your words. [1] |

10 אַל־תַּ֭סֵּג [3] Dechi גְּב֣וּל עוֹלָ֑ם [2] Etnachta אַל־תָּבֹֽא׃ [1] Silluq |
10 Don’t move [3] an ancient boundary stone; [2] do not enter, [1] |
|||
11 כִּֽי־גֹאֲלָ֥ם חָזָ֑ק [2] Etnachta אִתָּֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
11 for their redeemer is strong; [2] against you. [1] |
|||
12 הָבִ֣יאָה לַמּוּסָ֣ר [3] VDechi לִבֶּ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta לְאִמְרֵי־דָֽעַת׃ [1] Silluq |
12 To discipline apply [3] your heart; [2] to words of knowledge. [1] |

13 אַל־תִּמְנַ֣ע מִנַּ֣עַר [3] VDechi מוּסָ֑ר [2] Etnachta לֹ֣א יָמֽוּת׃ [1] Silluq |
13 Do not withhold from a child [3] discipline; [2] he will not die. [1] |

14 אַ֭תָּה [3] Dechi בַּשֵּׁ֣בֶט תַּכֶּ֑נּוּ [2] Etnachta מִשְּׁא֥וֹל תַּצִּֽיל׃ [1] Silluq |
14 You, [3] with the rod you strike him; [2] from Sheol you will deliver. [1] |

15 בְּ֭נִי [3] Dechi אִם־חָכַ֣ם לִבֶּ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta גַם־אָֽנִי׃ [1] Silluq |
15 O my son, [3] if your heart is wise; [2] mine too. [1] |
|||
16 וְתַעְלֹ֥זְנָה כִלְיוֹתָ֑י [2] Etnachta מֵישָׁרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
16 And my heart will rejoice; [2] what is right. [1] |
|||
17 אַל־יְקַנֵּ֣א לִ֭בְּךָ [3] Dechi בַּחַטָּאִ֑ים [2] Etnachta כׇּל־הַיּֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq |
17 Do not let your heart envy [3] sinners; [2] all the day. [1] |

18 כִּ֭י [3] Dechi אִם־יֵ֣שׁ אַחֲרִ֑ית [2] Etnachta לֹ֣א תִכָּרֵֽת׃ [1] Silluq |
18 For [3] surely there is a future hope; [2] it will not be cut off. [1] |
|||
19 שְׁמַע־אַתָּ֣ה בְנִ֣י [3] VDechi וַחֲכָ֑ם [2] Etnachta לִבֶּֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
19 Listen O my son [3] and be wise; [2] your heart. [1] |
|||
20 אַל־תְּהִ֥י בְסֹֽבְאֵי־יָ֑יִן [2] Etnachta לָֽמוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
20 Don’t be among those drinking too much wine; [2] for themselves, [1] |
|||
21 כִּֽי־סֹבֵ֣א וְ֭זוֹלֵל [3] Dechi יִוָּרֵ֑שׁ [2] Etnachta תַּלְבִּ֥ישׁ נוּמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
21 for a drunkard and a glutton, [3] he shall become poor; [2] drowsiness will clothe them. [1] |

22 שְׁמַ֣ע לְ֭אָבִיךָ [3] Dechi זֶ֣ה יְלָדֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta כִּֽי־זָקְנָ֥ה אִמֶּֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
22 Listen to your father [3] to whom you were born; [2] your mother when she is old. [1] |

23 אֱמֶ֣ת קְ֭נֵה [3] Dechi וְאַל־תִּמְכֹּ֑ר [2] Etnachta וּבִינָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
23 Buy truth, [3] and do not sell it; [2] and understanding. [1] |

24 *גול **גִּ֣יל יָ֭גִיל [3] Dechi אֲבִ֣י צַדִּ֑יק [2] Etnachta *וישמח **יִשְׂמַח־בּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
24 Greatly he rejoices, [3] the father of the righteous; [2] he shall delight in him. [1] |

25 יִֽשְׂמַח־אָבִ֥יךָ וְאִמֶּ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta יוֹלַדְתֶּֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
25 Let your father and your mother be glad; [2] the one who bore you. [1] |
|||
26 תְּנָה־בְנִ֣י לִבְּךָ֣ [3] VDechi לִ֑י [2] Etnachta דְּרָכַ֥י *תרצנה **תִּצֹּֽרְנָה׃ [1] Silluq |
26 O my son give your heart [3] to me; [2] let them observe my ways. [1] |

27 כִּֽי־שׁוּחָ֣ה עֲמֻקָּ֣ה [3] VDechi זוֹנָ֑ה [2] Etnachta נׇכְרִיָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
27 For a deep pit, [3] is a prostitute; [2] is an adulteress. [1] |

28 אַף־הִ֭יא [3] Dechi כְּחֶ֣תֶף תֶּאֱרֹ֑ב [2] Etnachta בְּאָדָ֥ם תּוֹסִֽף׃ [1] Silluq |
28 And she, [3] like a robber she lies in wait; [2] among men she increases. [1] |

29 לְמִ֨י א֥וֹי לְמִ֢י אֲב֡וֹי [4] Pazer לְמִ֤י *מדונים **מִדְיָנִ֨ים ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh לְמִ֥י שִׂ֗יחַ [3] Revi'i פְּצָעִ֣ים חִנָּ֑ם [2] Etnachta חַכְלִל֥וּת עֵינָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq |
29 Who has woe, who has sorrow? [4] Who has fights? [4] Who has complaining? [3] bruises for no reason? [2] redness of eyes? [1] |

30 לַֽמְאַחֲרִ֥ים עַל־הַיָּ֑יִן [2] Etnachta לַחְקֹ֥ר מִמְסָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
30 Those who linger long over wine; [2] looking for mixed wine. [1] |
|||
31 אַל־תֵּ֥רֶא יַיִן֮ [3] Sinnor כִּ֤י יִתְאַ֫דָּ֥ם [2] Ole Veyored עֵינ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta בְּמֵֽישָׁרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
31 Don’t gaze at the wine [3] when it is red; [2] its color, [2] smoothly. [1] |

32 אַ֭חֲרִיתוֹ [3] Dechi כְּנָחָ֣שׁ יִשָּׁ֑ךְ [2] Etnachta |
32 In the end [3] like a snake it will bite; [2] |

33 עֵ֭ינֶיךָ [3] Dechi יִרְא֣וּ זָר֑וֹת [2] Etnachta יְדַבֵּ֥ר תַּהְפֻּכֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq |
33 Your eyes, [3] they will see strange things; [2] it will speak perverse things. [1] |

34 וְ֭הָיִיתָ [3] Dechi כְּשֹׁכֵ֣ב בְּלֶב־יָ֑ם [2] Etnachta בְּרֹ֣אשׁ חִבֵּֽל׃ [1] Silluq |
34 Then you will be [3] like one lying down in the heart of the sea; [2] on the top of a mast, [1] |

35 הִכּ֥וּנִי בַל־חָלִיתִי֮ [3] Sinnor הֲלָמ֗וּנִי [3] Revi'i בַּל־יָ֫דָ֥עְתִּי [2] Ole Veyored א֝וֹסִ֗יף [2] Revi'i Mugrash אֲבַקְשֶׁ֥נּוּ עֽוֹד׃ [1] Silluq |
35 “They hit me, but I wasn't hurt! [3] They beat me, [3] but I didn’t feel it! [2] I'll do (it) again, [2] I'll look for another.” [1] |
