1 And [3] in the days [3] when the judges judged, [2] in the land; [1] from Bethlehem of Judah [3] in the country of Moab, [2] and his two sons. [1] |

| 2 וְשֵׁ֣ם הָאִ֣ישׁ אֱֽלִימֶ֡לֶךְ [4] Pazer וְשֵׁם֩ אִשְׁתּ֨וֹ נׇעֳמִ֜י [4] Geresh וְשֵׁ֥ם שְׁנֵֽי־בָנָ֣יו ׀ [4] Legarmeh מַחְל֤וֹן וְכִלְיוֹן֙ [3] Pashta יְהוּדָ֑ה [1] Etnachta וַיִּֽהְיוּ־שָֽׁם׃ [1] Silluq |
2 And the name of the man was Elimelech, [4] and the name of his wife was Naomi, [4] and the names of his two sons [4] were Mahlon and Chilion, [3] of Judah; [1] and they lived there. [1] |

3 And Elimelech died, [2] the husband of Naomi; [1] and her two sons. [1] |

| 4 וַיִּשְׂא֣וּ לָהֶ֗ם [3] Revi'i נָשִׁים֙ [3] Pashta מֹֽאֲבִיּ֔וֹת [2] Zaqef עׇרְפָּ֔ה [2] Zaqef ר֑וּת [1] Etnachta כְּעֶ֥שֶׂר שָׁנִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
4 And they took for themselves [3] wives [3] who were Moabites, [2] was Orpah, [2] was Ruth; [1] about ten years. [1] |

| 5 וַיָּמֻ֥תוּ גַם־שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha מַחְל֣וֹן וְכִלְי֑וֹן [1] Etnachta הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef וּמֵאִישָֽׁהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
5 And they both died, [2] Mahlon and Chilion; [1] the woman, [2] and of her husband. [1] |

| 6 וַתָּ֤קׇם הִיא֙ [3] Pashta וְכַלֹּתֶ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef מִשְּׂדֵ֣י מוֹאָ֑ב [1] Etnachta בִּשְׂדֵ֣ה מוֹאָ֔ב [2] Zaqef אֶת־עַמּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef לָֽחֶם׃ [1] Silluq |
6 Then she arose, she [3] and her daughters-in-law, [2] from the country of Moab; [1] in the country of Moab [2] his people [2] bread. [1] |

| 7 וַתֵּצֵ֗א [3] Revi'i מִן־הַמָּקוֹם֙ [3] Pashta אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָֽיְתָה־שָּׁ֔מָּה [2] Zaqef עִמָּ֑הּ [1] Etnachta לָשׁ֖וּב [2] Tip'cha אֶל־אֶ֥רֶץ יְהוּדָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
7 And she went out [3] from the place [3] where she had been, [2] with her; [1] to return [2] to the land of Judah. [1] |

| 8 וַתֹּ֤אמֶר נׇעֳמִי֙ [3] Pashta לִשְׁתֵּ֣י כַלֹּתֶ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef אִשָּׁ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לְבֵ֣ית אִמָּ֑הּ [1] Etnachta חֶ֔סֶד [2] Zaqef עִם־הַמֵּתִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha וְעִמָּדִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
8 And Naomi said [3] to her two daughters-in-law, [2] each of you [2] to the house of her mother. [1] kindly, [2] with the dead [2] and with me. [1] |

9 May The LORD grant [3] to you [2] each of you [2] in the house of her husband.” [1] and they lifted up their voices [2] and they wept. [1] |

10 And they said to her; [2 1] to your people.” [1] |

| 11 וַתֹּ֤אמֶר נׇעֳמִי֙ [3] Pashta שֹׁ֣בְנָה בְנֹתַ֔י [2] Zaqef עִמִּ֑י [1] Etnachta בְּֽמֵעַ֔י [2] Zaqef לַאֲנָשִֽׁים׃ [1] Silluq |
11 And Naomi said, [3] “Go back, my daughters. [2] with me? [1] in my womb, [2] husbands? [1] |

12 Go back my daughters, [3] go, [2] to have a husband. [1] ‘I have hope,’ [2] a husband, [2] I bore sons, [1] |

| 13 הֲלָהֵ֣ן ׀ [4] Legarmeh תְּשַׂבֵּ֗רְנָה [3] Revi'i אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִגְדָּ֔לוּ [2] Zaqef תֵּֽעָגֵ֔נָה [2] Zaqef הֱי֣וֹת לְאִ֑ישׁ [1] Etnachta כִּֽי־מַר־לִ֤י מְאֹד֙ [3] Pashta מִכֶּ֔ם [2] Zaqef יַד־יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
13 then [4] would you wait [3] they have grown up? [2] would you shut yourselves off [2] have a husband? [1] for it is very bitter to me [3] more than you, [2] the LORD’s hand.” [1] |

14 And they lifted up their voices [2] and they wept [2] again; [1] her mother-in-law, [2] she clung to her. [1] |

| 15 וַתֹּ֗אמֶר [3] Revi'i הִנֵּה֙ [3] Pashta שָׁ֣בָה יְבִמְתֵּ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef וְאֶל־אֱלֹהֶ֑יהָ [1] Etnachta אַחֲרֵ֥י יְבִמְתֵּֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
15 And she said, [3] “Behold [3] your sister-in-law has returned [2] and to her gods. [1] after your sister-in-law.” [1] |

| 16 וַתֹּ֤אמֶר רוּת֙ [3] Pashta אַל־תִּפְגְּעִי־בִ֔י [2] Zaqef לָשׁ֣וּב מֵאַחֲרָ֑יִךְ [1] Etnachta אֶל־אֲשֶׁ֨ר תֵּלְכִ֜י [4] Geresh אֵלֵ֗ךְ [3] Revi'i אָלִ֔ין [2] Zaqef וֵאלֹהַ֖יִךְ [2] Tip'cha אֱלֹהָֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
16 And Ruth said, [3] “Don’t urge me [2] to turn back from following you; [1] where you go [4] I will go, [3] I will stay. [2] and your God [2] my God. [1] |

17 Where you die [3 3] I will die, [2] I will be buried. [1] and more also, [2] it separates [2] you and me.” [1] |

18 When she (Naomi) saw [2] that she was determined [2] to go with her; [1] urging her. [1] |

| 19 וַתֵּלַ֣כְנָה שְׁתֵּיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef עַד־בּוֹאָ֖נָה [2] Tip'cha בֵּ֣ית לָ֑חֶם [1] Etnachta כְּבוֹאָ֙נָה֙ [3 3] Pashta בֵּ֣ית לֶ֔חֶם [2] Zaqef עֲלֵיהֶ֔ן [2] Zaqef הֲזֹ֥את נׇעֳמִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
19 So the two of them went [2] until they came [2] to Bethlehem; [1] they had come [3 3] to Bethlehem, [2] about them, [2] “Is this Naomi?” [1] |

20 And she said to them, [2] “Don’t call me [2] Naomi. [1] Mara, [2] with me [2] very. [1] |

21 I, [3] I went out full, [2] the LORD has brought me back. [1] Naomi, [2] he has testified against me, [2] he has afflicted me?” [1] |

| 22 וַתָּ֣שׇׁב נׇעֳמִ֗י [3] Revi'i וְר֨וּת הַמּוֹאֲבִיָּ֤ה כַלָּתָהּ֙ [3] Pashta עִמָּ֔הּ [2] Zaqef מִשְּׂדֵ֣י מוֹאָ֑ב [1] Etnachta בָּ֚אוּ [3] Yetiv בֵּ֣ית לֶ֔חֶם [2] Zaqef קְצִ֥יר שְׂעֹרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
22 So Naomi returned, [3] and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law [3] with her, [2] from the country of Moab; [1] they came to [3] Bethlehem [2] of the harvest of barley. [1] |
