1 And Naomi had [4] a relative of her husband, [3] mighty of wealth, [2] of Elimelech; [1] was Boaz. [1] |
2 And Ruth the Moabitess said [4] to Naomi, [3] that I may glean among the ears of grain, [2] anyone in whom I may find favor [2] in his eyes.” [1] “Go, my daughter.” [1] |
3 So she went out, and she came [3] and she gleaned in the field [2] the reapers; [1] belonging to Boaz, [2] was of the family of Elimelech. [1] |
4 And behold, Boaz [3] was coming [3] from Bethlehem, [2] “May the LORD be with you.” [1] “May the LORD bless you.” [1] |
5 Then Boaz said [3 3] to his servant [2] over the reapers; [1] this young woman?” [1] |
6 And he answered, [3] the servant [3] who was appointed over the reapers, [2] and he said; [1] she is, [2] from the country of Moab. [1] |
7 And she said, [3] ‘Please let me glean [3] and I will gather among the sheaves [2] the reapers.’ [1] from this morning [3 3] until now, [2] she rested in the house [2] a little.” [1] |
8 Then Boaz said to Ruth, [4] “Listen, my daughter, [3] to glean [3] in another field, [2] don’t go [2] from here; [1] with my maidens. [1] |
9 Let your eyes [4] be on the field that they are reaping [3] and go after them, [2] the young men [2] not to touch you; [1] go [3] to the vessels, [2] from that which they have drawn, [2] the young men.” [1] |
10 Then she fell [3] on her face [2] to the ground; [1] “Why have I found favor in your eyes, [3 3] to pay attention to me, [2] a foreigner?” [1] |
11 And Boaz answered [3 3] and he said to her, [2] to me [3] for your mother-in-law [2] the death of your husband; [1] your father and your mother, [3] of your relatives, [2] to a people [2] which you didn’t know [2] before (three days ago). [1] |
12 May the LORD reward [2] your work; [1] be completed [3] the God of Israel, [2] to take refuge under his wings.” [1] |
13 Then she said, [4 4] “Let me find favor in your eyes my lord, [3] because you have comforted me, [2] kindly to your maidservant; [1] I am not [2] of your maidservants.” [1] |
14 And Boaz said to her [4] at meal time, [3] and eat some bread, [2] in the vinegar.” [1] beside the reapers, [2] and she ate and she was satisfied, [2] and she had some left over. [1] |
15 וַתָּ֖קׇם [2] Tip'cha לְלַקֵּ֑ט [1] Etnachta לֵאמֹ֗ר [3] Revi'i תְּלַקֵּ֖ט [2] Tip'cha |
15 And when she rose up [2] to glean; [1] saying, [3] let her glean, [2] |
16 And also [3] pull out for her [2] some from the bundles; [1] and don’t rebuke her.” [1] |
17 So she gleaned in the field [2] until evening; [1] that which she had gleaned, [2] about an ephah of barley. [1] |
18 And she lifted it up [3] and she went into the city, [2] what she had gleaned; [1] and she gave to her [2] after she had been satisfied. [1] |
[2] Tip'cha |
19 And her mother-in-law said to her, [4] “Where did you glean today? [3] And where did you work? [2] blessed.” [1] with whom she had worked [3] with him, [2] “The name of the man [3] with whom I worked [3] today, [2] |
20 And Naomi said [4] to her daughter-in-law, [3] by the LORD, [2] has not abandoned his kindness [2] and to the dead.” [1] “A close relative to us [3 3] is the man, [2] is he.” [1] |
21 And she said, [2] Ruth the Moabitess; [1] for he said to me, [3] you shall stay, [2] all the harvest [2] which belongs to me.’ ” [1] |
22 And Naomi said [2] to Ruth her daughter-in-law; [1] that you go out [3] with his maidens, [2] in another field.” [1] |
