1 וּבֹ֨עַז עָלָ֣ה הַשַּׁ֘עַר֮ [3 3] Zarqa
וַיֵּ֣שֶׁב שָׁם֒ [2] Segol
 
וְהִנֵּ֨ה הַגֹּאֵ֤ל עֹבֵר֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּר־בֹּ֔עַז [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֹּ֛אמֶר [3] Tevir
ס֥וּרָה שְׁבָה־פֹּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
פְּלֹנִ֣י אַלְמֹנִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וַיָּ֖סַר [2] Tip'cha
וַיֵּשֵֽׁב׃ [1] Silluq

and he sat down there, [2]
 
and behold, the near kinsman was passing by [3]
of whom Boaz had spoken, [2]
 
and he (Boaz) said, [3]
“Come over here, and sit down, [2]
friend!” [1]
 
And he came over [2]
and he sat down. [1]

of the elders of the city, [2]
and he said, “Sit down here,” [1]

חֶלְקַת֙ [3] Pashta
הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר לְאָחִ֖ינוּ [2] Tip'cha
לֶאֱלִימֶ֑לֶךְ [1] Etnachta
 
מָכְרָ֣ה נׇעֳמִ֔י [2] Zaqef
הַשָּׁ֖בָה [2] Tip'cha
מִשְּׂדֵ֥ה מוֹאָֽב׃ [1] Silluq

“The portion [3]
of the field [2]
 
which belonged to our brother, [2]
to Elimelech; [1]
 
she is selling, Naomi, [2]
who has returned [2]

אֶגְלֶ֧ה אׇזְנְךָ֣ לֵאמֹ֗ר [3] Revi'i

הַגִּ֣ידָה לִּ֗י [3] Revi'i
 
*ואדע **וְאֵֽדְעָה֙ [3] Pashta
כִּ֣י אֵ֤ין זוּלָֽתְךָ֙ [3] Pashta
לִגְא֔וֹל [2] Zaqef
 
וְאָנֹכִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
אַחֲרֶ֑יךָ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֖אמֶר [2] Tip'cha
אָנֹכִ֥י אֶגְאָֽל׃ [1] Silluq

‘Acquire it [4 4]
before those who sit here, [3]
and before the elders of my people.’ [2]
 
If you will redeem it, [3]
redeem it, [2]
 
but if you will not redeem it [4]
then tell me, [3]
 
that I may know, [3]
for there is no one except you [3]
to redeem it, [2]
 
and I [2]
am after you.” [1]
 
And he said, [2]
“I will redeem it.” [1]

בְּיוֹם־קְנוֹתְךָ֥ הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מִיַּ֣ד נׇעֳמִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וּ֠מֵאֵ֠ת [4 4] TelishaG
ר֣וּת הַמּוֹאֲבִיָּ֤ה אֵֽשֶׁת־הַמֵּת֙ [3] Pashta
*קניתי **קָנִ֔יתָ [2] Zaqef
 
לְהָקִ֥ים שֵׁם־הַמֵּ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
עַל־נַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

“On the day you acquire the field [2]
from the hand of Naomi; [1]
 
also [4 4]
Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead [3]
you will acquire, [2]
 
to raise up the name of the dead [2]
on his inheritance.” [1]
6 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַגֹּאֵ֗ל [3] Revi'i
לֹ֤א אוּכַל֙ [3] Pashta
*לגאול **לִגְאׇל־לִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
פֶּן־אַשְׁחִ֖ית [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־נַחֲלָתִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
גְּאַל־לְךָ֤ אַתָּה֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־גְּאֻלָּתִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י לֹא־אוּכַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
לִגְאֹֽל׃ [1] Silluq

“I'm not able [3]
to redeem it for myself, [2]
 
lest I endanger [2]
my own inheritance. [1]
 
Take for yourself [3]
my right of redemption, [2]
 
for I'm not able [2]
to redeem it.” [1]
7 וְזֹאת֩ לְפָנִ֨ים בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל [4] Geresh
עַל־הַגְּאֻלָּ֤ה וְעַל־הַתְּמוּרָה֙ [3] Pashta
לְקַיֵּ֣ם כׇּל־דָּבָ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
שָׁלַ֥ף אִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir
נַעֲל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
וְנָתַ֣ן לְרֵעֵ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta
 
וְזֹ֥את הַתְּעוּדָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 2 3 2 7 Now this was the custom in former time in Israel [4]
concerning redeeming and concerning exchanging, [3]
to confirm all things: [2]
 
a man took off [3]
his sandal, [2]
and gave it to his neighbor; [1]
 
and this was the way of formalizing transactions [2]
in Israel. [1]
8 וַיֹּ֧אמֶר הַגֹּאֵ֛ל [3] Tevir
לְבֹ֖עַז [2] Tip'cha
קְנֵה־לָ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּשְׁלֹ֖ף [2] Tip'cha
נַעֲלֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 8 So the near kinsman said [3]
to Boaz, [2]
“Acquire it for yourself,” [1]
 
then he took off [2]
his sandal. [1]
9 וַיֹּ֩אמֶר֩ בֹּ֨עַז לַזְּקֵנִ֜ים [4] Geresh
וְכׇל־הָעָ֗ם [3] Revi'i
 
עֵדִ֤ים אַתֶּם֙ [3] Pashta
הַיּ֔וֹם [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֤י קָנִ֙יתִי֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֶאֱלִימֶ֔לֶךְ [2] Zaqef
 
וְאֵ֛ת [3] Tevir
כׇּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר לְכִלְי֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha
וּמַחְל֑וֹן [1] Etnachta
 
מִיַּ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
נׇעֳמִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

and to all the people, [3]
 
“You are witnesses [3]
today, [2]
 
that I have acquired [3 3]
all that belonged to Elimelech, [2]
 
and [3]
all that belonged to Chilion [2]
and to Mahlon; [1]
 
from the hand [2]
of Naomi. [1]
10 וְגַ֣ם אֶת־ר֣וּת הַמֹּאֲבִיָּה֩ אֵ֨שֶׁת מַחְל֜וֹן [4] Geresh
קָנִ֧יתִי לִ֣י לְאִשָּׁ֗ה [3] Revi'i
 
לְהָקִ֤ים שֵׁם־הַמֵּת֙ [3] Pashta
עַל־נַ֣חֲלָת֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וְלֹא־יִכָּרֵ֧ת שֵׁם־הַמֵּ֛ת [3] Tevir
מֵעִ֥ם אֶחָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
וּמִשַּׁ֣עַר מְקוֹמ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
עֵדִ֥ים אַתֶּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
הַיּֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq

I acquire for myself as a wife, [3]
 
to raise up the name of the dead [3]
on his inheritance, [2]
 
that the name of the dead may not be cut off [3]
from among his brothers [2]

יִתֵּן֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֶֽת־הָאִשָּׁ֜ה [4] Geresh
הַבָּאָ֣ה אֶל־בֵּיתֶ֗ךָ [3] Revi'i
 
כְּרָחֵ֤ל ׀ וּכְלֵאָה֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֨ר בָּנ֤וּ שְׁתֵּיהֶם֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
וַעֲשֵׂה־חַ֣יִל בְּאֶפְרָ֔תָה [2] Zaqef
וּקְרָא־שֵׁ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
בְּבֵ֥ית לָֽחֶם׃ [1] Silluq

“We are witnesses. [1]
 
May the LORD make the woman [4]
who is about to come into your house [3]
 
like Rachel and like Leah, [3]
who built, the two of them, [3]
the house of Israel, [2]
 
and make you prosperous in Ephrathah, [2]
and your name be known [2]
in Bethlehem. [1]
12 וִיהִ֤י בֵֽיתְךָ֙ [3] Pashta
כְּבֵ֣ית פֶּ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁר־יָלְדָ֥ה תָמָ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
לִיהוּדָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
מִן־הַזֶּ֗רַע [3] Revi'i
אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִתֵּ֤ן יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta
לְךָ֔ [2] Zaqef
 
מִן־הַֽנַּעֲרָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
הַזֹּֽאת׃ [1] Silluq

whom Tamar bore [2]
to Judah; [1]
 
from the offspring [3]
which the LORD will give [3]

by the young woman [2]

13 וַיִּקַּ֨ח בֹּ֤עַז אֶת־רוּת֙ [3] Pashta
וַתְּהִי־ל֣וֹ לְאִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַיָּבֹ֖א [2] Tip'cha
אֵלֶ֑יהָ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּתֵּ֨ן יְהֹוָ֥ה לָ֛הּ [3] Tevir
הֵרָי֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha
וַתֵּ֥לֶד בֵּֽן׃ [1] Silluq

and she became his wife, [2]
 
and he went in [2]
to her; [1]
 
and the LORD gave her [3]
to conceive, [2]
and she bore a son. [1]
14 וַתֹּאמַ֤רְנָה הַנָּשִׁים֙ [3] Pashta
אֶֽל־נׇעֳמִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
בָּר֣וּךְ יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
אֲ֠שֶׁ֠ר [4 4] TelishaG
לֹ֣א הִשְׁבִּ֥ית לָ֛ךְ [3] Tevir
גֹּאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
הַיּ֑וֹם [1] Etnachta
 
וְיִקָּרֵ֥א שְׁמ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq

to Naomi, [2]
 
“Blessed be the LORD, [2]
 
who [4 4]
has not left you without [3]
a near kinsman [2]
today; [1]
 
and may his name be known [2]
in Israel. [1]
15 וְהָ֤יָה לָךְ֙ [3] Pashta
לְמֵשִׁ֣יב נֶ֔פֶשׁ [2] Zaqef
 
וּלְכַלְכֵּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־שֵׂיבָתֵ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֣י כַלָּתֵ֤ךְ אֲֽשֶׁר־אֲהֵבַ֙תֶךְ֙ [3 3] Pashta
יְלָדַ֔תּוּ [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁר־הִיא֙ [3] Pashta
ט֣וֹבָה לָ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef
 
מִשִּׁבְעָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בָּנִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

one who restores life, [2]
 
and to sustain [2]
in your old age; [1]
 
for your daughter-in-law who loves you, [3 3]
she has given birth to him, [2]

is good to you [2]
 
more than seven [2]

16 וַתִּקַּ֨ח נׇעֳמִ֤י אֶת־הַיֶּ֙לֶד֙ [3 3] Pashta
וַתְּשִׁתֵ֣הוּ בְחֵיקָ֔הּ [2] Zaqef
 
וַתְּהִי־ל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
לְאֹמֶֽנֶת׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 16 And Naomi took the child [3 3]
and she placed him on her bosom, [2]
 
and she became for him [2]
a nurse. [1]
17 וַתִּקְרֶ֩אנָה֩ ל֨וֹ הַשְּׁכֵנ֥וֹת שֵׁם֙ [3] Pashta
לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
יֻלַּד־בֵּ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
לְנׇעֳמִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וַתִּקְרֶ֤אנָֽה שְׁמוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
עוֹבֵ֔ד [2] Zaqef
 
ה֥וּא אֲבִֽי־יִשַׁ֖י [2] Tip'cha
אֲבִ֥י דָוִֽד׃ [1] Silluq

saying, [2]
 
“A son has been born [2]
to Naomi.” [1]
 
And they called his name [3]

He was the father of Jesse, [2]

are the descendants of Perez: [2]

הוֹלִ֥יד אֶת־עַמִּֽינָדָֽב׃ [1] Silluq

to him was born Ram, [2]

to him was born Amminadab, [1]
20 וְעַמִּֽינָדָב֙ [3] Pashta
הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־נַחְשׁ֔וֹן [2] Zaqef
 
וְנַחְשׁ֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha
הוֹלִ֥יד אֶת־שַׂלְמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

to him was born Nahshon, [2]

to him was born Salmon, [1]
