1 אָ֭דָם [3] Dechi
יְל֣וּד אִשָּׁ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
קְצַ֥ר יָ֝מִ֗ים [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וּֽשְׂבַֽע־רֹֽגֶז׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 1 “Man, who is born of a woman, is of few days, and full of trouble. [3]
2 כְּצִ֣יץ יָ֭צָא [3] Dechi
וַיִּמָּ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
וַיִּבְרַ֥ח כַּ֝צֵּ֗ל [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וְלֹ֣א יַעֲמֽוֹד׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 2 He grows up like a flower, and is cut down. He also flees like a shadow, and doesn’t continue. [3]
3 אַף־עַל־זֶ֭ה [3] Dechi
פָּקַ֣חְתָּ עֵינֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וְאֹ֘תִ֤י תָבִ֖יא [3] VDechi~
בְמִשְׁפָּ֣ט [2] VRevMug~
עִמָּֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 3 Indeed on such a one [3]
do you open your eyes; [2]
 
and me do you bring [3]
into judgment, [2]
with yourself? [1]
4 מִֽי־יִתֵּ֣ן טָ֭הוֹר [3] Dechi
מִטָּמֵ֗א [3/2] Revi'i
לֹ֣א אֶחָֽד׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one. [3]
5 אִ֥ם חֲרוּצִ֨ים ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
יָמָ֗יו [3] Revi'i
מִֽסְפַּר־חֳדָשָׁ֥יו אִתָּ֑ךְ [2] Etnachta
 
*חקו **חֻקָּ֥יו עָ֝שִׂ֗יתָ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וְלֹ֣א יַעֲבֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 2 5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with you, and you have appointed his bounds that he can’t pass, [4]
6 שְׁעֵ֣ה מֵעָלָ֣יו [3] VDechi
וְיֶחְדָּ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
עַד־יִ֝רְצֶ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כְּשָׂכִ֥יר יוֹמֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 6 Look away from him, that he may rest, until he accomplishes, as a hireling, his day. [3]
7 כִּ֤י יֵ֥שׁ לָעֵ֗ץ [3] Revi'i
תִּ֫קְוָ֥ה [2] Ole Veyored
 
אִֽם־יִ֭כָּרֵת [3] Dechi
וְע֣וֹד יַחֲלִ֑יף [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝יֹֽנַקְתּ֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹ֣א תֶחְדָּֽל׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 2 7 “For there is hope for a tree if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, that the tender branch of it will not cease. [3]
8 אִם־יַזְקִ֣ין בָּאָ֣רֶץ [3] VDechi
שָׁרְשׁ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝בֶעָפָ֗ר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יָמ֥וּת גִּזְעֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 8 Though its root grows old in the earth, and its stock dies in the ground, [3]
9 מֵרֵ֣יחַ מַ֣יִם [3] VDechi
יַפְרִ֑חַ [2] Etnachta
 
וְעָשָׂ֖ה קָצִ֣יר [2] VRevMug
כְּמוֹ־נָֽטַע׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 9 yet through the scent of water it will bud, and sprout boughs like a plant. [3]
10 וְגֶ֣בֶר יָ֭מוּת [3] Dechi
וַֽיֶּחֱלָ֑שׁ [2] Etnachta
 
וַיִּגְוַ֖ע אָדָ֣ם [2] VRevMug
וְאַיּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 10 But man dies, and is laid low. Yes, man gives up the spirit, and where is he? [3]
11 אָֽזְלוּ־מַ֭יִם [3] Dechi
מִנִּי־יָ֑ם [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝נָהָ֗ר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יֶחֱרַ֥ב וְיָבֵֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the river wastes and dries up, [3]
12 וְאִ֥ישׁ שָׁכַ֗ב [3] Revi'i
וְֽלֹא־יָ֫ק֥וּם [2] Ole Veyored
 
עַד־בִּלְתִּ֣י שָׁ֭מַיִם [3] Dechi
לֹ֣א יָקִ֑יצוּ [2] Etnachta
 
וְלֹֽא־יֵ֝עֹ֗רוּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מִשְּׁנָתָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 2 12 so man lies down and doesn’t rise. Until the heavens are no more, they will not awake, nor be roused out of their sleep. [3]
13 מִ֤י יִתֵּ֨ן ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
בִּשְׁא֬וֹל תַּצְפִּנֵ֗נִי [3] Revi'i
 
תַּ֭סְתִּירֵנִי [3] Dechi
עַד־שׁ֣וּב אַפֶּ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
תָּ֤שִׁ֥ית לִ֖י [3] VDechi~
חֹ֣ק [2] VRevMug~
וְתִזְכְּרֵֽנִי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 2 3 13 “Oh that [4]
in Sheol you would hide me, [3]
 
that you would conceal me [3]
until your wrath is past; [2]
 
that you would appoint for me [3]
a set time, [2]
and remember me! [1]
14 אִם־יָמ֥וּת גֶּ֗בֶר [3] Revi'i
הֲיִ֫חְיֶ֥ה [2] Ole Veyored
 
כָּל־יְמֵ֣י צְבָאִ֣י [3] VDechi
אֲיַחֵ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
עַד־בּ֝֗וֹא [2] Revi'i Mugrash
חֲלִיפָתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 2 14 If a man dies, will he live again? I would wait all the days of my warfare, until my release should come. [3]
15 תִּ֭קְרָא [3] Dechi
וְאָנֹכִ֣י אֶֽעֱנֶ֑ךָּ [2] Etnachta
 
לְֽמַעֲשֵׂ֖ה יָדֶ֣יךָ [2] VRevMug
תִכְסֹֽף׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 15 You would call, and I would answer you. You would have a desire for the work of your hands. [3]
16 כִּֽי־עַ֭תָּה [3] Dechi
צְעָדַ֣י תִּסְפּ֑וֹר [2] Etnachta
 
לֹֽא־תִ֝שְׁמ֗וֹר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עַל־חַטָּאתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 16 But now you count my steps. Don’t you watch over my sin? [3]
17 חָתֻ֣ם בִּצְר֣וֹר [3] VDechi
פִּשְׁעִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וַ֝תִּטְפֹּ֗ל [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עַל־עֲוֺנִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 17 My disobedience is sealed up in a bag. You fasten up my iniquity. [3]
18 וְ֭אוּלָם [3] Dechi
הַר־נוֹפֵ֣ל יִבּ֑וֹל [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝צ֗וּר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יֶעְתַּ֥ק מִמְּקֹמֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 18 “But the mountain falling comes to nothing. The rock is removed out of its place, [3]
19 אֲבָנִ֤ים ׀ [4] Mahpakh Legarmeh
שָׁ֥חֲקוּ מַ֗יִם [3] Revi'i
תִּשְׁטֹֽף־סְפִיחֶ֥יהָ עֲפַר־אָ֑רֶץ [2] Etnachta
 
וְתִקְוַ֖ת אֱנ֣וֹשׁ [2] VRevMug
הֶאֱבַֽדְתָּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 2 19 The waters wear the stones. The torrents of it wash away the dust of the earth. So you destroy the hope of man. [4]
20 תִּתְקְפֵ֣הוּ לָ֭נֶצַח [3] Dechi
וַֽיַּהֲלֹ֑ךְ [2] Etnachta
 
מְשַׁנֶּ֥ה פָ֝נָ֗יו [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וַֽתְּשַׁלְּחֵֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 20 You forever prevail against him, and he departs. You change his face, and send him away. [3]
21 יִכְבְּד֣וּ בָ֭נָיו [3] Dechi
וְלֹ֣א יֵדָ֑ע [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝יִצְעֲר֗וּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וְֽלֹא־יָבִ֥ין לָֽמוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 21 His sons come to honor, and he doesn’t know it. They are brought low, but he doesn’t perceive it of them. [3]
22 אַךְ־בְּ֭שָׂרוֹ [3] Dechi
עָלָ֣יו יִכְאָ֑ב [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝נַפְשׁ֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עָלָ֥יו תֶּאֱבָֽל׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 22 But his flesh on him has pain, and his soul within him mourns.” ¶ [3]
