1 וַיַּ֥עַן אִיּ֗וֹב [3/2] Revi'i
וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ [1] Silluq
2 1 Then Job answered, [3/2]
2 שִׁמְע֣וּ שָׁ֭מוֹעַ [3] Dechi
מִלָּתִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וּתְהִי־זֹ֝֗את [2] Revi'i Mugrash
תַּנְח֥וּמֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 2 “Listen diligently to my speech. Let this be your consolation. [3]
3 שָׂ֭אוּנִי [3] Dechi
וְאָנֹכִ֣י אֲדַבֵּ֑ר [2] Etnachta
 
וְאַחַ֖ר דַּבְּרִ֣י [2] VRevMug
תַלְעִֽיג׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 Allow me, and I also will speak; After I have spoken, mock on. [3]
4 הֶ֭אָנֹכִי [3] Dechi
לְאָדָ֣ם שִׂיחִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וְאִם־מַ֝דּ֗וּעַ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹא־תִקְצַ֥ר רוּחִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 4 As for me, is my complaint to man? Why shouldn’t I be impatient? [3]
5 פְּנוּ־אֵלַ֥י וְהָשַׁ֑מּוּ [2] Etnachta
 
וְשִׂ֖ימוּ יָ֣ד [2] VRevMug
עַל־פֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 5 Look at me, and be astonished. Lay your hand on your mouth. [2]
 
6 וְאִם־זָכַ֥רְתִּי וְנִבְהָ֑לְתִּי [2] Etnachta
 
וְאָחַ֥ז בְּ֝שָׂרִ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
פַּלָּצֽוּת׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 6 When I remember, I am troubled. Horror takes hold of my flesh. [2]
 
7 מַדּ֣וּעַ רְשָׁעִ֣ים [3] VDechi
יִחְי֑וּ [2] Etnachta
 
עָ֝תְק֗וּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
גַּם־גָּ֥בְרוּ חָֽיִל׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 7 “Why do the wicked live, become old, yes, and grow mighty in power? [3]
8 זַרְעָ֤ם נָכ֣וֹן לִפְנֵיהֶ֣ם [3] VDechi
עִמָּ֑ם [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝צֶאֱצָאֵיהֶ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 8 Their child is established with them in their sight, their offspring before their eyes. [3]
9 בָּתֵּיהֶ֣ם שָׁל֣וֹם [3] VDechi
מִפָּ֑חַד [2] Etnachta
 
וְלֹ֤א שֵׁ֖בֶט [3] VDechi~
אֱל֣וֹהַּ [2] VRevMug~
עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 9 Their houses are safe [3]
from fear; [2]
 
and not is the rod [3]
of God [2]
upon them. [1]
10 שׁוֹר֣וֹ עִ֭בַּר [3] Dechi
וְלֹ֣א יַגְעִ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
תְּפַלֵּ֥ט פָּ֝רָת֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וְלֹ֣א תְשַׁכֵּֽל׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 10 Their bulls breed without fail. Their cows calve, and don’t miscarry. [3]
11 יְשַׁלְּח֣וּ כַ֭צֹּאן [3] Dechi
עֲוִילֵיהֶ֑ם [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝יַלְדֵיהֶ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יְרַקֵּדֽוּן׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 11 They send out their little ones like a flock. Their children dance. [3]
12 יִ֭שְׂאוּ [3] Dechi
כְּתֹ֣ף וְכִנּ֑וֹר [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝יִשְׂמְח֗וּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לְק֣וֹל עוּגָֽב׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 12 They sing to the tambourine and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe. [3]
13 *יבלו **יְכַלּ֣וּ בַטּ֣וֹב [3] VDechi
יְמֵיהֶ֑ם [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝בְרֶ֗גַע [2] Revi'i Mugrash
שְׁא֣וֹל יֵחָֽתּוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 13 They spend their days in prosperity. In an instant they go down to Sheol. [3]
14 וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ לָ֭אֵל [3] Dechi
ס֣וּר מִמֶּ֑נּוּ [2] Etnachta
 
וְדַ֥עַת דְּ֝רָכֶ֗יךָ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹ֣א חָפָֽצְנוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 14 They tell God, ‘Depart from us, for we don’t want to know about your ways. [3]
15 מַה־שַׁדַּ֥י כִּֽי־נַֽעַבְדֶ֑נּוּ [2] Etnachta
 
וּמַה־נּ֝וֹעִ֗יל [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כִּ֣י נִפְגַּע־בּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 15 What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What profit should we have, if we pray to him?’ [2]
 
16 הֵ֤ן לֹ֣א בְיָדָ֣ם [3] VDechi
טוּבָ֑ם [2] Etnachta
 
עֲצַ֥ת רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים [2] Revi'i Mugrash
רָ֣חֲקָה מֶֽנִּי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 16 Behold, their prosperity is not in their hand. The counsel of the wicked is far from me. [3]
17 כַּמָּ֤ה ׀ [4] Mahpakh Legarmeh
נֵר־רְשָׁ֘עִ֤ים יִדְעָ֗ךְ [3] Revi'i
 
וְיָבֹ֣א עָלֵ֣ימוֹ [3] VDechi
אֵידָ֑ם [2] Etnachta
 
חֲ֝בָלִ֗ים [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יְחַלֵּ֥ק בְּאַפּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 2 17 “How often is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out, that their calamity comes on them, that God distributes sorrows in his anger? [4]
18 יִהְי֗וּ [3] Revi'i
כְּתֶ֥בֶן לִפְנֵי־ר֑וּחַ [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝כְמֹ֗ץ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
גְּנָבַ֥תּוּ סוּפָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 18 How often is it that they are as stubble before the wind, as chaff that the storm carries away? [3]
19 אֱל֗וֹהַּ [3] Revi'i
יִצְפֹּן־לְבָנָ֥יו אוֹנ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta
 
יְשַׁלֵּ֖ם אֵלָ֣יו [2] VRevMug
וְיֵדָֽע׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 19 You say, ‘God lays up his iniquity for his children.’ Let him recompense it to himself, that he may know it. [3]
20 יִרְא֣וּ *עינו **עֵינָ֣יו [3] VDechi
כִּיד֑וֹ [2] Etnachta
 
וּמֵחֲמַ֖ת שַׁדַּ֣י [2] VRevMug
יִשְׁתֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 20 Let his own eyes see his destruction. Let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty. [3]
21 כִּ֤י מַה־חֶפְצ֣וֹ בְּבֵית֣וֹ [3] VDechi
אַחֲרָ֑יו [2] Etnachta
 
וּמִסְפַּ֖ר חֳדָשָׁ֣יו [2] VRevMug
חֻצָּֽצוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 21 For what does he care for his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off? [3]
22 הַלְאֵ֥ל יְלַמֶּד־דָּ֑עַת [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝ה֗וּא [2] Revi'i Mugrash
רָמִ֥ים יִשְׁפּֽוֹט׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 22 “Shall any teach God knowledge, since he judges those who are high? [2]
 
23 זֶ֗ה [3] Revi'i
יָ֭מוּת [3] Dechi
בְּעֶ֣צֶם תֻּמּ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta
 
כֻּ֝לּ֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
שַׁלְאֲנַ֥ן וְשָׁלֵֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 3 2 23 One dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet. [3]
24 עֲ֭טִינָיו [3] Dechi
מָלְא֣וּ חָלָ֑ב [2] Etnachta
 
וּמֹ֖חַ עַצְמוֹתָ֣יו [2] VRevMug
יְשֻׁקֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 24 His pails are full of milk. The marrow of his bones is moistened. [3]
25 וְזֶ֗ה [3] Revi'i
יָ֭מוּת [3] Dechi
בְּנֶ֣פֶשׁ מָרָ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
וְלֹֽא־אָ֝כַ֗ל [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בַּטּוֹבָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 3 2 25 Another dies in bitterness of soul, and never tastes of good. [3]
26 יַ֭חַד [3] Dechi
עַל־עָפָ֣ר יִשְׁכָּ֑בוּ [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝רִמָּ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
תְּכַסֶּ֥ה עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 26 They lie down alike in the dust. The worm covers them. [3]
27 הֵ֣ן יָ֭דַעְתִּי [3] Dechi
מַחְשְׁבֽוֹתֵיכֶ֑ם [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝מְזִמּ֗וֹת [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עָלַ֥י תַּחְמֹֽסוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 27 “Behold, I know your thoughts, the plans with which you would wrong me. [3]
28 כִּ֤י תֹֽאמְר֗וּ [3] Revi'i
אַיֵּ֥ה בֵית־נָדִ֑יב [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝אַיֵּ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
אֹ֤הֶל ׀ [4/2] Mahpakh Legarmeh
מִשְׁכְּנ֬וֹת רְשָׁעִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 2 28 For you say, ‘Where is the house of the prince? Where is the tent in which the wicked lived?’ [3]
29 הֲלֹ֣א שְׁ֭אֶלְתֶּם [3] Dechi
ע֣וֹבְרֵי דָ֑רֶךְ [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝אֹתֹתָ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹ֣א תְנַכֵּֽרוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 29 Haven’t you asked wayfaring men? Don’t you know their evidences, [3]
30 כִּ֤י לְי֣וֹם אֵ֭יד [3] Dechi
יֵחָ֣שֶׂךְ רָ֑ע [2] Etnachta
 
לְי֖וֹם עֲבָר֣וֹת [2] VRevMug
יוּבָֽלוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 30 that the evil man is reserved to the day of calamity, That they are led out to the day of wrath? [3]
31 מִֽי־יַגִּ֣יד עַל־פָּנָ֣יו [3] VDechi
דַּרְכּ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta
 
וְהֽוּא־עָ֝שָׂ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מִ֣י יְשַׁלֶּם־לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 31 Who will declare his way to his face? Who will repay him what he has done? [3]
32 וְ֭הוּא [3] Dechi
לִקְבָר֣וֹת יוּבָ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
וְֽעַל־גָּדִ֥ישׁ יִשְׁקֽוֹד׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 32 Yet he will be borne to the grave. Men will keep watch over the tomb. [3]
33 מָֽתְקוּ־ל֗וֹ [3] Revi'i
רִגְבֵ֫י נָ֥חַל [2] Ole Veyored
 
וְ֭אַחֲרָיו [3] Dechi
כָּל־אָדָ֣ם יִמְשׁ֑וֹךְ [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝לְפָנָ֗יו [2] Revi'i Mugrash
אֵ֣ין מִסְפָּֽר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 2 33 The clods of the valley will be sweet to him. All men will draw after him, as there were innumerable before him. [3]
34 וְ֭אֵיךְ [3] Dechi
תְּנַחֲמ֣וּנִי הָ֑בֶל [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝תְשֽׁוּבֹתֵיכֶ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
נִשְׁאַר־מָֽעַל׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 34 So how can you comfort me with nonsense, because in your answers there remains only falsehood?” ¶ [3]
