כָּרַ֣תִּי לְעֵינָ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וּמָ֥ה אֶ֝תְבּוֹנֵ֗ן [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עַל־בְּתוּלָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 1 “I made a covenant with my eyes, how then should I look lustfully at a young woman? [3]
2 וּמֶ֤ה ׀ [4] Mahpakh Legarmeh
חֵ֣לֶק אֱל֣וֹהַּ [3] VDechi
מִמָּ֑עַל [2] Etnachta
 
וְֽנַחֲלַ֥ת שַׁ֝דַּ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מִמְּרֹמִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 2 2 For what is the portion from God above, and the heritage from the Almighty on high? [4]
3 הֲלֹא־אֵ֥יד לְעַוָּ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝נֵ֗כֶר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לְפֹ֣עֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 3 Is it not calamity to the unrighteous, and disaster to the workers of iniquity? [2]
 
4 הֲלֹא־ה֭וּא [3] Dechi
יִרְאֶ֣ה דְרָכָ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וְֽכָל־צְעָדַ֥י יִסְפּֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 Doesn’t he see my ways, and count all my steps? [3]
5 אִם־הָלַ֥כְתִּי עִם־שָׁ֑וְא [2] Etnachta
 
וַתַּ֖חַשׁ עַל־מִרְמָ֣ה [2] VRevMug
רַגְלִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 5 “If I have walked with falsehood, and my foot has hurried to deceit [2]
 
6 יִשְׁקְלֵ֥נִי בְמֹאזְנֵי־צֶ֑דֶק [2] Etnachta
 
וְיֵדַ֥ע אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
תֻּמָּתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 6 (let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know my integrity), [2]
 
7 אִ֥ם תִּטֶּ֣ה אַשֻּׁרִי֮ [3] Sinnor
מִנִּ֪י הַ֫דָּ֥רֶךְ [2] Ole Veyored
 
וְאַחַ֣ר עֵ֭ינַי [3] Dechi
הָלַ֣ךְ לִבִּ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝בְכַפַּ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
דָּ֣בַק מֻאֽוּם׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 3 2 7 if my step has turned out of the way, if my heart walked after my eyes, if any defilement has stuck to my hands, [3]
8 אֶ֭זְרְעָה [3] Dechi
וְאַחֵ֣ר יֹאכֵ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
וְֽצֶאֱצָאַ֥י יְשֹׁרָֽשׁוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 8 then let me sow, and let another eat. Yes, let the produce of my field be rooted out. [3]
9 אִם־נִפְתָּ֣ה לִ֭בִּי [3] Dechi
עַל־אִשָּׁ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
וְעַל־פֶּ֖תַח רֵעִ֣י [2] VRevMug
אָרָֽבְתִּי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 9 “If my heart has been enticed to a woman, and I have laid wait at my neighbor’s door, [3]
10 תִּטְחַ֣ן לְאַחֵ֣ר [3] VDechi
אִשְׁתִּ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝עָלֶ֗יהָ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יִכְרְע֥וּן אֲחֵרִֽין׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 10 then let my wife grind for another, and let others sleep with her. [3]
11 כִּי־*הוא **הִ֥יא זִמָּ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
*והיא **וְ֝ה֗וּא [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עָוֺ֥ן פְּלִילִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 11 For that would be a heinous crime. Yes, it would be an iniquity to be punished by the judges, [2]
 
12 כִּ֤י אֵ֣שׁ הִ֭יא [3] Dechi
עַד־אֲבַדּ֣וֹן תֹּאכֵ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
וּֽבְכָל־תְּב֖וּאָתִ֣י [2] VRevMug
תְשָׁרֵֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 12 for it is a fire that consumes to destruction, and would root out all my increase. [3]
13 אִם־אֶמְאַ֗ס [3] Revi'i
מִשְׁפַּ֣ט עַ֭בְדִּי [3] Dechi
וַאֲמָתִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
בְּ֝רִבָ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עִמָּדִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 3 2 13 “If I have despised the cause of my male servant or of my female servant, when they contended with me, [3]
14 וּמָ֣ה אֶֽ֭עֱשֶׂה [3] Dechi
כִּֽי־יָק֣וּם אֵ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
וְכִֽי־יִ֝פְקֹ֗ד [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מָ֣ה אֲשִׁיבֶֽנּוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 14 what then will I do when God rises up? When he visits, what will I answer him? [3]
15 הֲ‍ֽ֝לֹא־בַ֭בֶּטֶן [2 3] Dechi
עֹשֵׂ֣נִי עָשָׂ֑הוּ [2] Etnachta
 
וַ֝יְכֻנֶ֗נּוּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בָּרֶ֥חֶם אֶחָֽד׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 15 Didn’t he who made me in the womb make him? Didn’t one fashion us in the womb? [2 3]
16 אִם־אֶ֭מְנַע [3] Dechi
מֵחֵ֣פֶץ דַּלִּ֑ים [2] Etnachta
 
וְעֵינֵ֖י אַלְמָנָ֣ה [2] VRevMug
אֲכַלֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 16 “If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail, [3]
17 וְאֹכַ֣ל פִּתִּ֣י [3] VDechi
לְבַדִּ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וְלֹא־אָכַ֖ל יָת֣וֹם [2] VRevMug
מִמֶּֽנָּה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 17 or have eaten my morsel alone, and the fatherless has not eaten of it [3]
18 כִּ֣י מִ֭נְּעוּרַי [3] Dechi
גְּדֵלַ֣נִי כְאָ֑ב [2] Etnachta
 
וּמִבֶּ֖טֶן אִמִּ֣י [2] VRevMug
אַנְחֶֽנָּה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 18 (no, from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, I have guided her from my mother’s womb), [3]
19 אִם־אֶרְאֶ֣ה א֭וֹבֵד [3] Dechi
מִבְּלִ֣י לְב֑וּשׁ [2] Etnachta
 
וְאֵ֥ין כְּ֝ס֗וּת [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לָאֶבְיֽוֹן׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 19 if I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or that the needy had no covering, [3]
20 אִם־לֹ֣א בֵרֲכ֣וּנִי [3] VDechi
*חלצו **חֲלָצָ֑יו [2] Etnachta
 
וּמִגֵּ֥ז כְּ֝בָשַׂי [2] Geresh
יִתְחַמָּֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 20 if his heart hasn’t blessed me, if he hasn’t been warmed with my sheep’s fleece, [3]
21 אִם־הֲנִיפ֣וֹתִי עַל־יָת֣וֹם [3] VDechi
יָדִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
כִּֽי־אֶרְאֶ֥ה בַ֝שַּׁ֗עַר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עֶזְרָתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 21 if I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, because I saw my help in the gate, [3]
22 כְּ֭תֵפִי [3] Dechi
מִשִּׁכְמָ֣ה תִפּ֑וֹל [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝אֶזְרֹעִ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מִקָּנָ֥ה תִשָּׁבֵֽר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 22 then let my shoulder fall from the shoulder blade, and my arm be broken from the bone. [3]
23 כִּ֤י פַ֣חַד אֵ֭לַי [3] Dechi
אֵ֣יד אֵ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝מִשְּׂאֵת֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹ֣א אוּכָֽל׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 23 For calamity from God is a terror to me. Because of his majesty, I can do nothing. [3]
24 אִם־שַׂ֣מְתִּי זָהָ֣ב [3] VDechi
כִּסְלִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝לַכֶּ֗תֶם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
אָמַ֥רְתִּי מִבְטַחִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 24 “If I have made gold [3]
my confidence; [2]
 
and to the gold [2]
I have said, ‘My object of confidence,’ [1]
25 אִם־אֶ֭שְׂמַח [3] Dechi
כִּי־רַ֣ב חֵילִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וְכִֽי־כַ֝בִּ֗יר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מָצְאָ֥ה יָדִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 25 if I rejoiced [3]
because my wealth was great; [2]
 
and because much [2]
my hand had found, [1]
26 אִם־אֶרְאֶ֣ה א֖וֹר [3] VDechi~
כִּ֣י יָהֵ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝יָרֵ֗חַ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יָקָ֥ר הֹלֵֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 26 if I saw the sun [3]
when it shined; [2]
 
or the moon [2]
moving in splendor, [1]
27 וַיִּ֣פְתְּ בַּסֵּ֣תֶר [3] VDechi
לִבִּ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וַתִּשַּׁ֖ק יָדִ֣י [2] VRevMug
לְפִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 27 and it was secretly enticed, [3]
my heart; [2]
 
and it kissed my hand, [2]
my mouth, [1]
28 גַּם־ה֭וּא [3] Dechi
עָוֺ֣ן פְּלִילִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
כִּֽי־כִחַ֖שְׁתִּי לָאֵ֣ל [2] VRevMug
מִמָּֽעַל׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 28 that too [3]
is iniquity calling for judgement; [2]
 
for I would have denied God [2]
above. [1]
29 אִם־אֶ֭שְׂמַח [3] Dechi
בְּפִ֣יד מְשַׂנְאִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝הִתְעֹרַ֗רְתִּי [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כִּֽי־מְצָ֥אוֹ רָֽע׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 29 “If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him [3]
30 וְלֹא־נָתַ֣תִּי לַחֲטֹ֣א [3] VDechi
חִכִּ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
לִשְׁאֹ֖ל בְּאָלָ֣ה [2] VRevMug
נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 30 (yes, I have not allowed my mouth to sin by asking his life with a curse), [3]
31 אִם־לֹ֣א אָ֭מְרוּ [3] Dechi
מְתֵ֣י אָהֳלִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
מִֽי־יִתֵּ֥ן מִ֝בְּשָׂר֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹ֣א נִשְׂבָּֽע׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 31 if the men of my tent have not said, ‘Who can find one who has not been filled with his meat?’ [3]
32 בַּ֭חוּץ [3] Dechi
לֹא־יָלִ֣ין גֵּ֑ר [2] Etnachta
 
דְּ֝לָתַ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לָאֹ֥רַח אֶפְתָּֽח׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 32 (the foreigner has not camped in the street, but I have opened my doors to the traveler), [3]
33 אִם־כִּסִּ֣יתִי כְאָדָ֣ם [3] VDechi
פְּשָׁעָ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
לִטְמ֖וֹן בְּחֻבִּ֣י [2] VRevMug
עֲוֺֽנִי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 33 if like Adam I have covered my transgressions, by hiding my iniquity in my heart, [3]
34 כִּ֤י אֶֽעֱר֨וֹץ ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
הָ֘מ֤וֹן רַבָּ֗ה [3] Revi'i
וּבוּז־מִשְׁפָּח֥וֹת יְחִתֵּ֑נִי [2] Etnachta
 
וָ֝אֶדֹּ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹא־אֵ֥צֵא פָֽתַח׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 2 34 because I feared the great multitude, and the contempt of families terrified me, so that I kept silence, and didn’t go out of the door— [4]
35 מִ֤י יִתֶּן־לִ֨י ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
שֹׁ֘מֵ֤עַֽ לִ֗י [3] Revi'i
 
הֶן־תָּ֭וִי [3] Dechi
שַׁדַּ֣י יַעֲנֵ֑נִי [2] Etnachta
 
וְסֵ֥פֶר כָּ֝תַ֗ב [2] Revi'i Mugrash
אִ֣ישׁ רִיבִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 2 35 oh that I had one to hear me! Behold, here is my signature! Let the Almighty answer me! Let the accuser write my indictment! [4]
36 אִם־לֹ֣א עַל־שִׁ֭כְמִי [3] Dechi
אֶשָּׂאֶ֑נּוּ [2] Etnachta
 
אֶֽעֶנְדֶ֖נּוּ עֲטָר֣וֹת [2] VRevMug
לִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 36 Surely I would carry it on my shoulder; and I would bind it to me as a crown. [3]
37 מִסְפַּ֣ר צְ֭עָדַי [3] Dechi
אַגִּידֶ֑נּוּ [2] Etnachta
 
כְּמוֹ־נָ֝גִ֗יד [2] Revi'i Mugrash
אֲקָרֲבֶֽנּוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 37 I would declare to him the number of my steps. as a prince would I go near to him. [3]
38 אִם־עָ֭לַי [3] Dechi
אַדְמָתִ֣י תִזְעָ֑ק [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝יַ֗חַד [2] Revi'i Mugrash
תְּלָמֶ֥יהָ יִבְכָּיֽוּן׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 38 If my land cries out against me, and its furrows weep together, [3]
39 אִם־כֹּ֭חָהּ [3] Dechi
אָכַ֣לְתִּי בְלִי־כָ֑סֶף [2] Etnachta
 
וְנֶ֖פֶשׁ בְּעָלֶ֣יהָ [2] VRevMug
הִפָּֽחְתִּי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 39 if I have eaten its fruits without money, or have caused its owners to lose their life, [3]
40 תַּ֤חַת חִטָּ֨ה ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
יֵ֥צֵא ח֗וֹחַ [3] Revi'i
וְתַֽחַת־שְׂעֹרָ֥ה בָאְשָׁ֑ה [2] Etnachta

דִּבְרֵ֥י אִיּֽוֹב׃ [1] Silluq
