1 “Do you know the time when the mountain goats give birth? Do you watch when the doe bears fawns? [3] |

| 2 תִּסְפֹּ֣ר יְרָחִ֣ים [3] VDechi תְּמַלֶּ֑אנָה [2] Etnachta עֵ֣ת לִדְתָּֽנָה׃ [1] Silluq |
2 Can you count the months that they fulfill? Or do you know the time when they give birth? [3] |

| 3 תִּ֭כְרַעְנָה [3] Dechi יַלְדֵיהֶ֣ן תְּפַלַּ֑חְנָה [2] Etnachta |
3 They bow themselves. They bear their young. They end their labor pains. [3] |

| 4 יַחְלְמ֣וּ בְ֭נֵיהֶם [3] Dechi יִרְבּ֣וּ בַבָּ֑ר [2] Etnachta וְלֹא־שָׁ֥בוּ לָֽמוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
4 Their young ones become strong. They grow up in the open field. They go out, and don’t return again. [3] |

5 “Who has set the wild donkey free? Or who has loosened the bonds of the swift donkey, [3] |

6 whose home I have made the wilderness, and the salt land his dwelling place? [3] |

| 7 יִ֭שְׂחַק [3] Dechi לַהֲמ֣וֹן קִרְיָ֑ה [2] Etnachta לֹ֣א יִשְׁמָֽע׃ [1] Silluq |
7 He scorns the tumult of the city, neither does he hear the shouting of the driver. [3] |

8 The range of the mountains is his pasture, He searches after every green thing. [3] |

| 9 הֲיֹ֣אבֶה רֵּ֣ים [3] VDechi עָבְדֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta עַל־אֲבוּסֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
9 “Will the wild ox be content to serve you? Or will he stay by your feeding trough? [3] |

| 10 הֲֽתִקְשָׁר־רֵ֭ים [3] Dechi בְּתֶ֣לֶם עֲבֹת֑וֹ [2] Etnachta אַחֲרֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
10 Can you hold the wild ox in the furrow with his harness? Or will he till the valleys after you? [3] |

| 11 הֲֽתִבְטַח־בּ֭וֹ [3] Dechi כִּי־רַ֣ב כֹּח֑וֹ [2] Etnachta יְגִיעֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
11 Will you trust him, because his strength is great? Or will you leave to him your labor? [3] |

| 12 הֲתַאֲמִ֣ין בּ֭וֹ [3] Dechi כִּי־*ישוב **יָשִׁ֣יב זַרְעֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta |
12 Will you confide in him, that he will bring home your seed, and gather the grain of your threshing floor? [3] |

| 13 כְּנַף־רְנָנִ֥ים נֶעֱלָ֑סָה [2] Etnachta חֲסִידָ֥ה וְנֹצָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
13 “The wings of the ostrich wave proudly; but are they the feathers and plumage of love? [2] |

| 14 כִּֽי־תַעֲזֹ֣ב לָאָ֣רֶץ [3] VDechi בֵּצֶ֑יהָ [2] Etnachta |
14 For she leaves her eggs on the earth, warms them in the dust, [3] |

| 15 וַ֭תִּשְׁכַּח [3] Dechi כִּי־רֶ֣גֶל תְּזוּרֶ֑הָ [2] Etnachta תְּדוּשֶֽׁהָ׃ [1] Silluq |
15 and forgets that the foot may crush them, or that the wild animal may trample them. [3] |

| 16 הִקְשִׁ֣יחַ בָּנֶ֣יהָ [3] VDechi לְּלֹא־לָ֑הּ [2] Etnachta בְּלִי־פָֽחַד׃ [1] Silluq |
16 She deals harshly with her young ones, as if they were not hers. Though her labor is in vain, she is without fear, [3] |

| 17 כִּֽי־הִשָּׁ֣הּ אֱל֣וֹהַּ [3] VDechi חָכְמָ֑ה [2] Etnachta בַּבִּינָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
17 because God has deprived her of wisdom, neither has he imparted to her understanding. [3] |

| 18 כָּ֭עֵת [3] Dechi בַּמָּר֣וֹם תַּמְרִ֑יא [2] Etnachta וּלְרֹֽכְבֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
18 When she lifts up herself on high, she scorns the horse and his rider. [3] |
|||
| 19 הֲתִתֵּ֣ן לַסּ֣וּס [3] VDechi גְּבוּרָ֑ה [2] Etnachta רַעְמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
19 “Have you given the horse might? Have you clothed his neck with a quivering mane? [3] |
|||
| 20 הְֽ֭תַרְעִישֶׁנּוּ [3] Dechi כָּאַרְבֶּ֑ה [2] Etnachta אֵימָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
20 Have you made him to leap as a locust? The glory of his snorting is awesome. [3] |
|||
| 21 יַחְפְּר֣וּ בָ֭עֵמֶק [3] Dechi וְיָשִׂ֣ישׂ בְּכֹ֑חַ [2] Etnachta לִקְרַאת־נָֽשֶׁק׃ [1] Silluq |
21 He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength. He goes out to meet the armed men. [3] |

| 22 יִשְׂחַ֣ק לְ֭פַחַד [3] Dechi וְלֹ֣א יֵחָ֑ת [2] Etnachta מִפְּנֵי־חָֽרֶב׃ [1] Silluq |
22 He mocks at fear, and is not dismayed, neither does he turn back from the sword. [3] |

| 23 עָ֭לָיו [3] Dechi תִּרְנֶ֣ה אַשְׁפָּ֑ה [2] Etnachta וְכִידֽוֹן׃ [1] Silluq |
23 The quiver rattles against him, the flashing spear and the javelin. [3] |
|||
| 24 בְּרַ֣עַשׁ וְ֭רֹגֶז [3] Dechi יְגַמֶּא־אָ֑רֶץ [2] Etnachta כִּי־ק֥וֹל שׁוֹפָֽר׃ [1] Silluq |
24 He eats up the ground with fierceness and rage, neither does he stand still at the sound of the shofar. [3] |

| 25 בְּדֵ֤י שֹׁפָ֨ר ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh יֹ֘אמַ֤ר הֶאָ֗ח [3] Revi'i יָרִ֣יחַ מִלְחָמָ֑ה [2] Etnachta וּתְרוּעָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
25 As often as the shofar sounds he snorts, ‘Aha!’ He smells the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting. [4] |

| 26 הֲֽ֭מִבִּינָ֣תְךָ [3] Dechi יַֽאֲבֶר־נֵ֑ץ [2] Etnachta לְתֵימָֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
26 “Is it by your wisdom that the hawk soars, and stretches her wings toward the south? [3] |

| 27 אִם־עַל־פִּ֭יךָ [3] Dechi יַגְבִּ֣יהַּ נָ֑שֶׁר [2] Etnachta יָרִ֥ים קִנּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
27 Is it at your command that the eagle mounts up, and makes his nest on high? [3] |

| 28 סֶ֣לַע יִ֭שְׁכֹּן [3] Dechi וְיִתְלֹנָ֑ן [2] Etnachta וּמְצוּדָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
28 On the cliff he dwells, and makes his home, on the point of the cliff, and the stronghold. [3] |

| 29 מִשָּׁ֥ם חָֽפַר־אֹ֑כֶל [2] Etnachta עֵינָ֥יו יַבִּֽיטוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
29 From there he spies out the prey. His eyes see it afar off. [2] |
|||
| 30 *ואפרחו **וְאֶפְרֹחָ֥יו יְעַלְעוּ־דָ֑ם [2] Etnachta שָׁ֣ם הֽוּא׃ [1] Silluq פ |
30 His young ones also suck up blood. Where the slain are, there he is.” ¶ [2] |
