1 אֹהֵ֣ב מ֭וּסָר [3] Dechi אֹ֣הֵֽב דָּ֑עַת [2] Etnachta בָּֽעַר׃ [1] Silluq |
1 Whoever loves correction loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid. [3] |

2 ט֗וֹב [3] Revi'i יָפִ֣יק רָ֭צוֹן [3] Dechi מֵיְהוָ֑ה [2] Etnachta יַרְשִֽׁיעַ׃ [1] Silluq |
2 A good man shall obtain favor from the LORD, but he will condemn a man of wicked plans. [3] |

3 לֹא־יִכּ֣וֹן אָדָ֣ם [3] VDechi בְּרֶ֑שַׁע [2] Etnachta בַּל־יִמּֽוֹט׃ [1] Silluq |
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness, but the root of the righteous shall not be moved. [3] |

4 אֵֽשֶׁת־חַ֭יִל [3] Dechi עֲטֶ֣רֶת בַּעְלָ֑הּ [2] Etnachta מְבִישָֽׁה׃ [1] Silluq |
4 A worthy woman is the crown of her husband, but a disgraceful wife is as rottenness in his bones. [3] |

5 מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת צַדִּיקִ֣ים [3] VDechi מִשְׁפָּ֑ט [2] Etnachta מִרְמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
5 The thoughts of the righteous are just, but the advice of the wicked is deceitful. [3] |

6 דִּבְרֵ֣י רְשָׁעִ֣ים [3] VDechi אֱרָב־דָּ֑ם [2] Etnachta יַצִּילֵֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
6 The words of the wicked are about lying in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them. [3] |

7 הָפ֣וֹךְ רְשָׁעִ֣ים [3] VDechi וְאֵינָ֑ם [2] Etnachta יַעֲמֹֽד׃ [1] Silluq |
7 The wicked are overthrown, and are no more, but the house of the righteous shall stand. [3] |

8 לְֽפִי־שִׂ֭כְלוֹ [3] Dechi יְהֻלַּל־אִ֑ישׁ [2] Etnachta יִהְיֶ֥ה לָבֽוּז׃ [1] Silluq |
8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom, but he who has a warped mind shall be despised. [3] |

9 ט֣וֹב נִ֭קְלֶה [3] Dechi וְעֶ֣בֶד ל֑וֹ [2] Etnachta וַחֲסַר־לָֽחֶם׃ [1] Silluq |
9 Better is he who is little known, and has a servant, than he who honors himself, and lacks bread. [3] |

10 יוֹדֵ֣עַ צַ֭דִּיק [3] Dechi נֶ֣פֶשׁ בְּהֶמְתּ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta אַכְזָרִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
10 A righteous man respects the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel. [3] |

11 עֹבֵ֣ד אַ֭דְמָתוֹ [3] Dechi יִֽשְׂבַּֽע־לָ֑חֶם [2] Etnachta חֲסַר־לֵֽב׃ [1] Silluq |
11 He who tills his land shall have plenty of bread, but he who chases fantasies is void of understanding. [3] |

12 חָמַ֣ד רָ֭שָׁע [3] Dechi מְצ֣וֹד רָעִ֑ים [2] Etnachta יִתֵּֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
12 The wicked desires the plunder of evil men, but the root of the righteous flourishes. [3] |

13 בְּפֶ֣שַׁע שְׂ֭פָתַיִם [3] Dechi מוֹקֵ֣שׁ רָ֑ע [2] Etnachta צַדִּֽיק׃ [1] Silluq |
13 An evil man is trapped by sinfulness of lips, but the righteous shall come out of trouble. [3] |

14 מִפְּרִ֣י פִי־אִ֭ישׁ [3] Dechi יִשְׂבַּע־ט֑וֹב [2] Etnachta *ישוב **יָשִׁ֥יב לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth. The work of a man’s hands shall be rewarded to him. [3] |

15 דֶּ֣רֶךְ אֱ֭וִיל [3] Dechi יָשָׁ֣ר בְּעֵינָ֑יו [2] Etnachta חָכָֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who is wise listens to counsel. [3] |

16 אֱוִ֗יל [3] Revi'i בַּ֭יּוֹם [3] Dechi יִוָּדַ֣ע כַּעְס֑וֹ [2] Etnachta עָרֽוּם׃ [1] Silluq |
16 A fool shows his annoyance the same day, but one who overlooks an insult is prudent. [3] |

17 יָפִ֣יחַ אֱ֭מוּנָה [3] Dechi יַגִּ֣יד צֶ֑דֶק [2] Etnachta מִרְמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
17 He who is truthful testifies honestly, but a false witness lies. [3] |

18 יֵ֣שׁ בּ֭וֹטֶה [3] Dechi כְּמַדְקְר֣וֹת חָ֑רֶב [2] Etnachta מַרְפֵּֽא׃ [1] Silluq |
18 There is one who speaks rashly like the piercing of a sword, but the tongue of the wise heals. [3] |

19 שְֽׂפַת־אֱ֭מֶת [3] Dechi תִּכּ֣וֹן לָעַ֑ד [2] Etnachta לְשׁ֣וֹן שָֽׁקֶר׃ [1] Silluq |
19 Truth’s lips will be established forever, but a lying tongue is only momentary. [3] |

20 מִ֭רְמָה [3] Dechi בְּלֶב־חֹ֣רְשֵׁי רָ֑ע [2] Etnachta שִׂמְחָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
20 Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil, but joy comes to the promoters of peace. [3] |

21 לֹא־יְאֻנֶּ֣ה לַצַּדִּ֣יק [3] VDechi כָּל־אָ֑וֶן [2] Etnachta מָ֣לְאוּ רָֽע׃ [1] Silluq |
21 No mischief shall happen to the righteous, but the wicked shall be filled with evil. [3] |

22 תּוֹעֲבַ֣ת יְ֭הוָה [3] Dechi שִׂפְתֵי־שָׁ֑קֶר [2] Etnachta רְצוֹנֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, but those who do the truth are his delight. [3] |

23 אָדָ֣ם עָ֭רוּם [3] Dechi כֹּ֣סֶה דָּ֑עַת [2] Etnachta יִקְרָ֥א אִוֶּֽלֶת׃ [1] Silluq |
23 A prudent man keeps his knowledge, but the hearts of fools proclaim foolishness. [3] |

24 יַד־חָרוּצִ֥ים תִּמְשׁ֑וֹל [2] Etnachta תִּהְיֶ֥ה לָמַֽס׃ [1] Silluq |
24 The hands of the diligent ones shall rule, but laziness ends in slave labor. [2] |

25 דְּאָגָ֣ה בְלֶב־אִ֣ישׁ [3] VDechi יַשְׁחֶ֑נָּה [2] Etnachta יְשַׂמְּחֶֽנָּה׃ [1] Silluq |
25 Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a kind word makes it glad. [3] |

26 יָתֵ֣ר מֵרֵעֵ֣הוּ [3] VDechi צַדִּ֑יק [2] Etnachta תַּתְעֵֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
26 A righteous person is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray. [3] |

27 לֹא־יַחֲרֹ֣ךְ רְמִיָּ֣ה [3] VDechi צֵיד֑וֹ [2] Etnachta חָרֽוּץ׃ [1] Silluq |
27 The slothful man doesn’t roast his game, but the possessions of diligent men are prized. [3] |

28 In the way of righteousness is life; in its path there is no death. ¶ [2] |
