1 A false balance is an abomination to the LORD, but accurate weights are his delight. [3] |

2 When pride comes, then comes shame, but with humility comes wisdom. [3] |

3 תֻּמַּ֣ת יְשָׁרִ֣ים [3] VDechi תַּנְחֵ֑ם [2] Etnachta *ושדם **יְשָׁדֵּֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them, but the perverseness of the treacherous shall destroy them. [3] |

4 לֹא־יוֹעִ֣יל ה֭וֹן [3] Dechi בְּי֣וֹם עֶבְרָ֑ה [2] Etnachta תַּצִּ֥יל מִמָּֽוֶת׃ [1] Silluq |
4 Riches don’t profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. [3] |

5 צִדְקַ֣ת תָּ֭מִים [3] Dechi תְּיַשֵּׁ֣ר דַּרְכּ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta יִפֹּ֥ל רָשָֽׁע׃ [1] Silluq |
5 The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way, but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness. [3] |

6 צִדְקַ֣ת יְ֭שָׁרִים [3] Dechi תַּצִּילֵ֑ם [2] Etnachta בֹּגְדִ֥ים יִלָּכֵֽדוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them, but the unfaithful will be trapped by evil desires. [3] |

7 בְּמ֤וֹת אָדָ֣ם רָ֭שָׁע [3] Dechi תֹּאבַ֣ד תִּקְוָ֑ה [2] Etnachta אָבָֽדָה׃ [1] Silluq |
7 When a wicked man dies, hope perishes, and expectation of power comes to nothing. [3] |

8 צַ֭דִּיק [3] Dechi מִצָּרָ֣ה נֶחֱלָ֑ץ [2] Etnachta תַּחְתָּֽיו׃ [1] Silluq |
8 A righteous person is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked takes his place. [3] |

9 בְּפֶ֗ה [3] Revi'i חָ֭נֵף [3] Dechi יַשְׁחִ֣ת רֵעֵ֑הוּ [2] Etnachta צַדִּיקִ֥ים יֵחָלֵֽצוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
9 With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, but the righteous will be delivered through knowledge. [3] |

10 בְּט֣וּב צַ֭דִּיקִים [3] Dechi תַּעֲלֹ֣ץ קִרְיָ֑ה [2] Etnachta רִנָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
10 When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices. When the wicked perish, there is shouting. [3] |

11 בְּבִרְכַּ֣ת יְ֭שָׁרִים [3] Dechi תָּר֣וּם קָ֑רֶת [2] Etnachta תֵּהָרֵֽס׃ [1] Silluq |
11 By the blessing of the upright, the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked. [3] |

12 בָּז־לְרֵעֵ֥הוּ חֲסַר־לֵ֑ב [2] Etnachta יַחֲרִֽישׁ׃ [1] Silluq |
12 One who despises his neighbor is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding holds his peace. [2] |

13 הוֹלֵ֣ךְ רָ֭כִיל [3] Dechi מְגַלֶּה־סּ֑וֹד [2] Etnachta מְכַסֶּ֥ה דָבָֽר׃ [1] Silluq |
13 One who brings gossip betrays a confidence, but one who is of a trustworthy spirit is one who keeps a secret. [3] |

14 Where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is victory. [3] |

15 He who is collateral for a stranger will suffer for it, but he who refuses pledges of collateral is secure. [3] |

16 A gracious woman obtains honor, but violent men obtain riches. [3] |

17 גֹּמֵ֣ל נַ֭פְשׁוֹ [3] Dechi אִ֣ישׁ חָ֑סֶד [2] Etnachta אַכְזָרִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
17 The merciful man does good to his own soul, but he who is cruel troubles his own flesh. [3] |

18 Wicked people earn deceitful wages, but one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward. [3] |

19 כֵּן־צְדָקָ֥ה לְחַיִּ֑ים [2] Etnachta לְמוֹתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
19 He who is truly righteous gets life. He who pursues evil gets death. [2] |

20 תּוֹעֲבַ֣ת יְ֭הוָה [3] Dechi עִקְּשֵׁי־לֵ֑ב [2] Etnachta תְּמִ֣ימֵי דָֽרֶךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
20 Those who are perverse in heart are an abomination to the LORD, but those whose ways are blameless are his delight. [3] |

21 יָ֣ד לְ֭יָד [3] Dechi לֹא־יִנָּ֣קֶה רָּ֑ע [2] Etnachta נִמְלָֽט׃ [1] Silluq |
21 Most certainly, the evil man will not be unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered. [3] |

22 Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout, is a beautiful woman who lacks discretion. [3] |

23 The desire of the righteous is only good. The expectation of the wicked is wrath. [3] |

24 יֵ֣שׁ מְ֭פַזֵּר [3] Dechi וְנוֹסָ֥ף ע֑וֹד [2] Etnachta אַךְ־לְמַחְסֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq |
24 There is one who scatters, and increases yet more. There is one who withholds more than is appropriate, but gains poverty. [3] |

25 נֶֽפֶשׁ־בְּרָכָ֥ה תְדֻשָּׁ֑ן [2] Etnachta גַּם־ה֥וּא יוֹרֶֽא׃ [1] Silluq |
25 The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself. [2] |

26 People curse someone who withholds grain, but blessing will be on the head of him who sells it. [3] |

27 He who diligently seeks good seeks favor, but he who searches after evil, it shall come to him. [3] |

28 בּוֹטֵ֣חַ בְּ֭עָשְׁרוֹ [3] Dechi ה֣וּא יִפֹּ֑ל [2] Etnachta צַדִּיקִ֥ים יִפְרָֽחוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
28 He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf. [3] |

29 עוֹכֵ֣ר בֵּ֭יתוֹ [3] Dechi יִנְחַל־ר֑וּחַ [2] Etnachta לַחֲכַם־לֵֽב׃ [1] Silluq |
29 He who troubles his own house shall inherit the wind. The foolish shall be servant to the wise of heart. [3] |

30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life. He who is wise wins souls. [3] |

31 הֵ֣ן צַ֭דִּיק [3] Dechi בָּאָ֣רֶץ יְשֻׁלָּ֑ם [2] Etnachta כִּֽי־רָשָׁ֥ע וְחוֹטֵֽא׃ [1] Silluq |
31 Behold, the righteous shall be repaid in the earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner! ¶ [3] |
