1 פַּלְגֵי־מַ֣יִם לֶב־מֶ֭לֶךְ [3] Dechi בְּיַד־יְהוָ֑ה [2] Etnachta יַטֶּֽנּוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
1 The king’s heart is in the LORD’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires. [3] |

2 כָּֽל־דֶּרֶךְ־אִ֭ישׁ [3] Dechi יָשָׁ֣ר בְּעֵינָ֑יו [2] Etnachta יְהוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the hearts. [3] |

3 עֲ֭שֹׂה [3] Dechi צְדָקָ֣ה וּמִשְׁפָּ֑ט [2] Etnachta מִזָּֽבַח׃ [1] Silluq |
3 To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. [3] |

4 רוּם־עֵ֭ינַיִם [3] Dechi וּרְחַב־לֵ֑ב [2] Etnachta חַטָּֽאת׃ [1] Silluq |
4 A high look and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin. [3] |

5 מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת חָ֭רוּץ [3] Dechi אַךְ־לְמוֹתָ֑ר [2] Etnachta אַךְ־לְמַחְסֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq |
5 The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty. [3] |

6 פֹּ֣עַל א֭וֹצָרוֹת [3] Dechi בִּלְשׁ֣וֹן שָׁ֑קֶר [2] Etnachta מְבַקְשֵׁי־מָֽוֶת׃ [1] Silluq |
6 Getting treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor for those who seek death. [3] |

7 שֹׁד־רְשָׁעִ֥ים יְגוֹרֵ֑ם [2] Etnachta לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת מִשְׁפָּֽט׃ [1] Silluq |
7 The violence of the wicked will drive them away, because they refuse to do what is right. [2] |
|||
8 הֲפַכְפַּ֬ךְ דֶּ֣רֶךְ אִ֣ישׁ [3] VDechi וָזָ֑ר [2] Etnachta יָשָׁ֥ר פָּעֳלֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
8 The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright. [3] |

9 ט֗וֹב [3] Revi'i לָשֶׁ֥בֶת עַל־פִּנַּת־גָּ֑ג [2] Etnachta וּבֵ֥ית חָֽבֶר׃ [1] Silluq |
9 It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop than to share a house with a contentious woman. [3] |

10 נֶ֣פֶשׁ רָ֭שָׁע [3] Dechi אִוְּתָה־רָ֑ע [2] Etnachta רֵעֵֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
10 The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes. [3] |

11 בַּעְנָשׁ־לֵ֭ץ [3] Dechi יֶחְכַּם־פֶּ֑תִי [2] Etnachta יִקַּח־דָּֽעַת׃ [1] Silluq |
11 When the mocker is punished, the simple gains wisdom. When the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge. [3] |

12 מַשְׂכִּ֣יל צַ֭דִּיק [3] Dechi לְבֵ֣ית רָשָׁ֑ע [2] Etnachta לָרָֽע׃ [1] Silluq |
12 The Righteous One considers the house of the wicked, and brings the wicked to ruin. [3] |

13 אֹטֵ֣ם אָ֭זְנוֹ [3] Dechi מִזַּעֲקַת־דָּ֑ל [2] Etnachta וְלֹ֣א יֵעָנֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
13 Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard. [3] |

14 מַתָּ֣ן בַּ֭סֵּתֶר [3] Dechi יִכְפֶּה־אָ֑ף [2] Etnachta חֵמָ֥ה עַזָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
14 A gift in secret pacifies anger, and a bribe in the cloak, strong wrath. [3] |

15 שִׂמְחָ֣ה לַ֭צַּדִּיק [3] Dechi עֲשׂ֣וֹת מִשְׁפָּ֑ט [2] Etnachta לְפֹ֣עֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃ [1] Silluq |
15 It is joy to the righteous to do justice; but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity. [3] |

16 אָדָ֗ם [3] Revi'i תּ֭וֹעֶה [3] Dechi מִדֶּ֣רֶךְ הַשְׂכֵּ֑ל [2] Etnachta יָנֽוּחַ׃ [1] Silluq |
16 The man who wanders out of the way of understanding shall rest in the assembly of the departed spirits. [3] |

17 אִ֣ישׁ מַ֭חְסוֹר [3] Dechi אֹהֵ֣ב שִׂמְחָ֑ה [2] Etnachta לֹ֣א יַעֲשִֽׁיר׃ [1] Silluq |
17 He who loves pleasure will be a poor man. He who loves wine and oil won’t be rich. [3] |
|||
18 כֹּ֣פֶר לַצַּדִּ֣יק [3] VDechi רָשָׁ֑ע [2] Etnachta בּוֹגֵֽד׃ [1] Silluq |
18 The wicked is a ransom for the righteous, the treacherous for the upright. [3] |
|||
19 ט֗וֹב [3] Revi'i שֶׁ֥בֶת בְּאֶֽרֶץ־מִדְבָּ֑ר [2] Etnachta וָכָֽעַס׃ [1] Silluq |
19 It is better to dwell in a desert land, than with a contentious and fretful woman. [3] |

20 אוֹצָ֤ר ׀ [4] Mahpakh Legarmeh נֶחְמָ֣ד וָ֭שֶׁמֶן [3] Dechi בִּנְוֵ֣ה חָכָ֑ם [2] Etnachta יְבַלְּעֶֽנּוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
20 There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man swallows it up. [4] |

21 רֹ֭דֵף [3] Dechi צְדָקָ֣ה וָחָ֑סֶד [2] Etnachta צְדָקָ֥ה וְכָבֽוֹד׃ [1] Silluq |
21 He who follows after righteousness and kindness finds life, righteousness, and honor. [3] |
|||
22 עִ֣יר גִּ֭בֹּרִים [3] Dechi עָלָ֣ה חָכָ֑ם [2] Etnachta עֹ֣ז מִבְטֶחָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
22 A wise man scales the city of the mighty, and brings down the strength of its confidence. [3] |

23 שֹׁמֵ֣ר פִּ֭יו [3] Dechi וּלְשׁוֹנ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
23 Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles. [3] |
|||
24 זֵ֣ד יָ֭הִיר [3] Dechi לֵ֣ץ שְׁמ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta בְּעֶבְרַ֥ת זָדֽוֹן׃ [1] Silluq |
24 The proud and arrogant man—“Scoffer” is his name— he works in the arrogance of pride. [3] |

25 תַּאֲוַ֣ת עָצֵ֣ל [3] VDechi תְּמִיתֶ֑נּוּ [2] Etnachta לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃ [1] Silluq |
25 The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor. [3] |
|||
26 כָּל־הַ֭יּוֹם [3] Dechi הִתְאַוָּ֣ה תַאֲוָ֑ה [2] Etnachta וְלֹ֣א יַחְשֹֽׂךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
26 There are those who covet greedily all day long; but the righteous give and don’t withhold. [3] |

27 זֶ֣בַח רְ֭שָׁעִים [3] Dechi תּוֹעֵבָ֑ה [2] Etnachta כִּֽי־בְזִמָּ֥ה יְבִיאֶֽנּוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination— how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind! [3] |

28 עֵד־כְּזָבִ֥ים יֹאבֵ֑ד [2] Etnachta לָנֶ֥צַח יְדַבֵּֽר׃ [1] Silluq |
28 A false witness will perish. A man who listens speaks to eternity. [2] |
|||
29 הֵעֵ֬ז אִ֣ישׁ רָשָׁ֣ע [3] VDechi בְּפָנָ֑יו [2] Etnachta ה֤וּא ׀ [4/2] Mahpakh Legarmeh *יכין **יָבִ֬ין *דרכיו **דַּרְכּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
29 A wicked man hardens his face; but as for the upright, he establishes his ways. [3] |

30 אֵ֣ין חָ֭כְמָה [3] Dechi וְאֵ֣ין תְּבוּנָ֑ה [2] Etnachta לְנֶ֣גֶד יְהוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq פ |
30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD. [3] |

31 ס֗וּס [3] Revi'i מ֭וּכָן [3] Dechi לְי֣וֹם מִלְחָמָ֑ה [2] Etnachta הַתְּשׁוּעָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but victory is with the LORD. ¶ [3] |
