1 הֲלֹֽא־חָכְמָ֥ה תִקְרָ֑א [2] Etnachta תִּתֵּ֥ן קוֹלָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
1 Doesn’t wisdom cry out? Doesn’t understanding raise her voice? [2] |

2 בְּרֹאשׁ־מְרוֹמִ֥ים עֲלֵי־דָ֑רֶךְ [2] Etnachta נִצָּֽבָה׃ [1] Silluq |
2 On the top of high places by the way, where the paths meet, she stands. [2] |
|||
3 לְיַד־שְׁעָרִ֥ים לְפִי־קָ֑רֶת [2] Etnachta תָּרֹֽנָּה׃ [1] Silluq |
3 Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, at the entry doors, she cries aloud, [2] |

4 אֲלֵיכֶ֣ם אִישִׁ֣ים [3] VDechi אֶקְרָ֑א [2] Etnachta אֶל־בְּנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
4 “I call to you men! I send my voice to the sons of mankind. [3] |

5 הָבִ֣ינוּ פְתָאיִ֣ם [3] VDechi עָרְמָ֑ה [2] Etnachta הָבִ֥ינוּ לֵֽב׃ [1] Silluq |
5 You simple, understand prudence! You fools, be of an understanding heart! [3] |

6 שִׁ֭מְעוּ [3] Dechi כִּֽי־נְגִידִ֣ים אֲדַבֵּ֑ר [2] Etnachta מֵישָׁרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
6 Hear, for I will speak excellent things. The opening of my lips is for right things. [3] |

7 כִּֽי־אֱ֭מֶת [3] Dechi יֶהְגֶּ֣ה חִכִּ֑י [2] Etnachta רֶֽשַׁע׃ [1] Silluq |
7 For my mouth speaks truth. Wickedness is an abomination to my lips. [3] |

8 בְּצֶ֥דֶק כָּל־אִמְרֵי־פִ֑י [2] Etnachta נִפְתָּ֥ל וְעִקֵּֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq |
8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness. There is nothing crooked or perverse in them. [2] |

9 כֻּלָּ֣ם נְ֭כֹחִים [3] Dechi לַמֵּבִ֑ין [2] Etnachta לְמֹ֣צְאֵי דָֽעַת׃ [1] Silluq |
9 They are all plain to him who understands, right to those who find knowledge. [3] |

10 קְחֽוּ־מוּסָרִ֥י וְאַל־כָּ֑סֶף [2] Etnachta מֵחָר֥וּץ נִבְחָֽר׃ [1] Silluq |
10 Receive my instruction rather than silver, knowledge rather than choice gold. [2] |

11 כִּֽי־טוֹבָ֣ה חָ֭כְמָה [3] Dechi מִפְּנִינִ֑ים [2] Etnachta לֹ֣א יִֽשְׁווּ־בָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
11 For wisdom is better than rubies. All the things that may be desired can’t be compared to it. [3] |

12 אֲֽנִי־חָ֭כְמָה [3] Dechi שָׁכַ֣נְתִּי עָרְמָ֑ה [2] Etnachta אֶמְצָֽא׃ [1] Silluq |
12 “I, wisdom, have made prudence my dwelling. Find out knowledge and discretion. [3] |

13 יִֽרְאַ֣ת יְהוָה֮ [3] Sinnor שְֽׂנֹ֫את רָ֥ע [2] Ole Veyored וְדֶ֣רֶךְ רָ֭ע [3] Dechi וּפִ֨י תַהְפֻּכ֬וֹת [2] VRevMug שָׂנֵֽאתִי׃ [1] Silluq |
13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth. [3] |

14 לִֽי־עֵ֭צָה [3] Dechi וְתוּשִׁיָּ֑ה [2] Etnachta לִ֣י גְבוּרָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
14 Counsel and sound knowledge are mine. I have understanding and power. [3] |

15 בִּ֭י [3] Dechi מְלָכִ֣ים יִמְלֹ֑כוּ [2] Etnachta יְחֹ֣קְקוּ צֶֽדֶק׃ [1] Silluq |
15 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. [3] |
|||
16 בִּ֭י [3] Dechi שָׂרִ֣ים יָשֹׂ֑רוּ [2] Etnachta כָּל־שֹׁ֥פְטֵי צֶֽדֶק׃ [1] Silluq |
16 By me princes rule, nobles, and all the righteous rulers of the earth. [3] |

17 אֲ֭נִי [3] Dechi *אהביה **אֹהֲבַ֣י אֵהָ֑ב [2] Etnachta יִמְצָאֻֽנְנִי׃ [1] Silluq |
17 I love those who love me. Those who seek me diligently will find me. [3] |
|||
18 עֹֽשֶׁר־וְכָב֥וֹד אִתִּ֑י [2] Etnachta וּצְדָקָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
18 With me are riches, honor, enduring wealth, and prosperity. [2] |
|||
19 ט֣וֹב פִּ֭רְיִי [3] Dechi מֵחָר֣וּץ וּמִפָּ֑ז [2] Etnachta מִכֶּ֥סֶף נִבְחָֽר׃ [1] Silluq |
19 My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, my yield than choice silver. [3] |

20 בְּאֹֽרַח־צְדָקָ֥ה אֲהַלֵּ֑ך [2] Etnachta נְתִיב֥וֹת מִשְׁפָּֽט׃ [1] Silluq |
20 I walk in the way of righteousness, in the middle of the paths of justice, [2] |

21 לְהַנְחִ֖יל אֹהֲבַ֥י ׀ יֵ֑שׁ [2] Etnachta אֲמַלֵּֽא׃ [1] Silluq פ |
21 that I may give wealth to those who love me. I fill their treasuries. [2] |

22 יְֽהוָ֗ה [3] Revi'i קָ֭נָנִי [3] Dechi רֵאשִׁ֣ית דַּרְכּ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta מֵאָֽז׃ [1] Silluq |
22 “The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his work, before his deeds of old. [3] |

23 מֵ֭עוֹלָם [3] Dechi נִסַּ֥כְתִּי מֵרֹ֗אשׁ [3/2] Revi'i מִקַּדְמֵי־אָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq |
23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed. [3] |

24 בְּאֵין־תְּהֹמ֥וֹת חוֹלָ֑לְתִּי [2] Etnachta נִכְבַּדֵּי־מָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq |
24 When there were no depths, I was born, when there were no springs abounding with water. [2] |

25 בְּטֶ֣רֶם הָרִ֣ים [3] VDechi הָטְבָּ֑עוּ [2] Etnachta חוֹלָֽלְתִּי׃ [1] Silluq |
25 Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was born, [3] |
|||
26 עַד־לֹ֣א עָ֭שָׂה [3] Dechi אֶ֣רֶץ וְחוּצ֑וֹת [2] Etnachta עָפְר֥וֹת תֵּבֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq |
26 while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world. [3] |

27 בַּהֲכִינ֣וֹ שָׁ֭מַיִם [3] Dechi שָׁ֣ם אָ֑נִי [2] Etnachta עַל־פְּנֵ֥י תְהֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq |
27 When he established the heavens, I was there. When he set a circle on the surface of the deep, [3] |

28 בְּאַמְּצ֣וֹ שְׁחָקִ֣ים [3] VDechi מִמָּ֑עַל [2] Etnachta עִינ֥וֹת תְּהֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq |
28 when he established the clouds above, when the springs of the deep became strong, [3] |

29 בְּשׂ֘וּמ֤וֹ לַיָּ֨ם ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh חֻקּ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i לֹ֣א יַֽעַבְרוּ־פִ֑יו [2] Etnachta מ֣וֹסְדֵי אָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq |
29 when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth, [4] |

30 וָֽאֶהְיֶ֥ה אֶצְל֗וֹ [3] Revi'i אָ֫מ֥וֹן [2] Ole Veyored י֤וֹם ׀ [4/3] Mahpakh Legarmeh י֑וֹם [2] Etnachta בְּכָל־עֵֽת׃ [1] Silluq |
30 then I was the craftsman by his side. I was a delight day by day, always rejoicing before him, [3] |

31 מְ֭שַׂחֶקֶת [3] Dechi בְּתֵבֵ֣ל אַרְצ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃ [1] Silluq פ |
31 rejoicing in his whole world. My delight was with the sons of men. [3] |

32 וְעַתָּ֣ה בָ֭נִים [3] Dechi שִׁמְעוּ־לִ֑י [2] Etnachta דְּרָכַ֥י יִשְׁמֹֽרוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
32 “Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways. [3] |

33 שִׁמְע֖וּ מוּסָ֥ר וַחֲכָ֗מוּ [3/2] Revi'i וְאַל־תִּפְרָֽעוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
33 Hear instruction, and be wise. Don’t refuse it. [3/2] |
|||
34 אַ֥שְֽׁרֵי אָדָם֮ [3] Sinnor שֹׁמֵ֪עַֽ֫ לִ֥י [2] Ole Veyored י֤וֹם ׀ [4/3] Mahpakh Legarmeh י֑וֹם [2] Etnachta מְזוּזֹ֥ת פְּתָחָֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
34 Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my door posts. [3] |

35 כִּ֣י מֹ֭צְאִי [3] Dechi *מצאי **מָצָ֣א חַיִּ֑ים [2] Etnachta מֵיְהוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
35 For whoever finds me, finds life, and will obtain favor from the LORD. [3] |
|||
36 וְֽ֭חֹטְאִי [3] Dechi חֹמֵ֣ס נַפְשׁ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta אָ֣הֲבוּ מָֽוֶת׃ [1] Silluq פ |
36 But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul. All those who hate me love death.” ¶ [3] |
