1 חָ֭כְמוֹת [3] Dechi בָּנְתָ֣ה בֵיתָ֑הּ [2] Etnachta שִׁבְעָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
1 Wisdom has built her house. She has carved out her seven pillars. [3] |

2 טָבְחָ֣ה טִ֭בְחָהּ [3] Dechi מָסְכָ֣ה יֵינָ֑הּ [2] Etnachta עָֽרְכָ֥ה שֻׁלְחָנָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
2 She has prepared her meat. She has mixed her wine. She has also set her table. [3] |

3 שָֽׁלְחָ֣ה נַעֲרֹתֶ֣יהָ [3] VDechi תִקְרָ֑א [2] Etnachta מְרֹ֣מֵי קָֽרֶת׃ [1] Silluq |
3 She has sent out her maidens. She cries from the highest places of the city, [3] |

4 מִי־פֶ֭תִי [3] Dechi יָסֻ֣ר הֵ֑נָּה [2] Etnachta אָ֣מְרָה לּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
4 “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” As for him who is void of understanding, she says to him, [3] |

5 לְ֭כוּ [3] Dechi לַחֲמ֣וּ בְֽלַחֲמִ֑י [2] Etnachta בְּיַ֣יִן מָסָֽכְתִּי׃ [1] Silluq |
5 “Come, eat some of my bread, Drink some of the wine which I have mixed! [3] |

6 עִזְב֣וּ פְתָאיִ֣ם [3] VDechi וִֽחְי֑וּ [2] Etnachta בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ בִּינָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
6 Leave your simple ways, and live. Walk in the way of understanding.” [3] |

7 יֹ֤סֵ֨ר ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh לֵ֗ץ [3] Revi'i קָל֑וֹן [2] Etnachta מוּמֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
7 One who corrects a mocker invites insult. One who reproves a wicked man invites abuse. [4] |

8 אַל־תּ֣וֹכַח לֵ֭ץ [3] Dechi פֶּן־יִשְׂנָאֶ֑ךָּ [2] Etnachta וְיֶאֱהָבֶֽךָּ׃ [1] Silluq |
8 Don’t reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you. Reprove a wise person, and he will love you. [3] |

9 תֵּ֣ן לְ֭חָכָם [3] Dechi וְיֶחְכַּם־ע֑וֹד [2] Etnachta וְי֣וֹסֶף לֶֽקַח׃ [1] Silluq פ |
9 Instruct a wise person, and he will be still wiser. Teach a righteous person, and he will increase in learning. [3] |

10 תְּחִלַּ֣ת חָ֭כְמָה [3] Dechi יִרְאַ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה [2] Etnachta בִּינָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. [3] |

11 כִּי־בִ֭י [3] Dechi יִרְבּ֣וּ יָמֶ֑יךָ [2] Etnachta שְׁנ֣וֹת חַיִּֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
11 For by me your days will be multiplied. The years of your life will be increased. [3] |

12 אִם־חָ֭כַמְתָּ [3] Dechi חָכַ֣מְתָּ לָּ֑ךְ [2] Etnachta לְֽבַדְּךָ֥ תִשָּֽׂא׃ [1] Silluq |
12 If you are wise, you are wise for yourself. If you mock, you alone will bear it. [3] |

13 אֵ֣שֶׁת כְּ֭סִילוּת [3] Dechi הֹֽמִיָּ֑ה [2] Etnachta וּבַל־יָ֥דְעָה מָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
13 The foolish woman is loud, undisciplined, and knows nothing. [3] |

14 וְֽ֭יָשְׁבָה [3] Dechi לְפֶ֣תַח בֵּיתָ֑הּ [2] Etnachta מְרֹ֣מֵי קָֽרֶת׃ [1] Silluq |
14 She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, [3] |

15 לִקְרֹ֥א לְעֹֽבְרֵי־דָ֑רֶךְ [2] Etnachta אֹֽרְחוֹתָֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
15 to call to those who pass by, who go straight on their ways, [2] |

16 מִי־פֶ֭תִי [3] Dechi יָסֻ֣ר הֵ֑נָּה [2] Etnachta וְאָ֣מְרָה לּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
16 “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here.” as for him who is void of understanding, she says to him, [3] |

17 מַֽיִם־גְּנוּבִ֥ים יִמְתָּ֑קוּ [2] Etnachta יִנְעָֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
17 “Stolen water is sweet. Food eaten in secret is pleasant.” [2] |

18 וְֽלֹא־יָ֭דַע [3] Dechi כִּֽי־רְפָאִ֣ים שָׁ֑ם [2] Etnachta קְרֻאֶֽיהָ׃ [1] Silluq פ |
18 But he doesn’t know that the departed spirits are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol. ¶ [3] |
