DefinitionShort: decorative tassel attached to the bottom edge of a long outer garment{N:001}
Glosses: ['fringe', 'edge', 'hem']
Comments: The edge of the garment designated by κράσπεδον[a] could have been plain or decorated. In {S:04002300500040} κράσπεδον denotes the tassels worn at the four corners of the outer garment (see {D:6.194}). It is also possible that in all instances in which κράσπεδον is used in reference to Jesus’ clothing, the reference may be specifically to the tassels and not merely to the fringe or edge of the garment. The interpretation of such passages depends upon how strictly Jesus may have followed the Mosaic law and the manner in which the authors may have understood the meaning of κράσπεδον.
