1 וַיַּ֗עַל [3] Revi'i נָחָשׁ֙ [3] Pashta הָעַמּוֹנִ֔י [2] Zaqef עַל־יָבֵ֣ישׁ גִּלְעָ֑ד [1] Etnachta כׇּל־אַנְשֵׁ֤י יָבֵישׁ֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־נָחָ֔שׁ [2] Zaqef וְנַֽעַבְדֶֽךָּ׃ [1] Silluq |
1 Then he went up, [3] Nahash [3] the Ammonite, [2] against Jabesh Gilead; [1] all the men of Jabesh, [3] to Nahash, [2] and we will serve you.” [1] |

2 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם [3] Revi'i נָחָשׁ֙ [3] Pashta הָעַמּוֹנִ֔י [2] Zaqef אֶכְרֹ֣ת לָכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef כׇּל־עֵ֣ין יָמִ֑ין [1] Etnachta עַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq |
2 And he said to them, [3] Nahash [3] the Ammonite, [2] will I make it with you, [2] every right eye; [1] on all Israel.” [1] |

3 וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ אֵלָ֜יו [4] Geresh זִקְנֵ֣י יָבֵ֗ישׁ [3] Revi'i שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֔ים [2] Zaqef מַלְאָכִ֔ים [2] Zaqef גְּב֣וּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta אֹתָ֖נוּ [2] Tip'cha וְיָצָ֥אנוּ אֵלֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
3 And they said to him, [4] the elders of Jabesh, [3] seven days, [2] messengers [2] the territory of Israel; [1] us, [2] we will come out to you.” [1] |

4 וַיָּבֹ֤אוּ הַמַּלְאָכִים֙ [3] Pashta גִּבְעַ֣ת שָׁא֔וּל [2] Zaqef בְּאׇזְנֵ֣י הָעָ֑ם [1] Etnachta אֶת־קוֹלָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha וַיִּבְכּֽוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
4 Then the messengers came [3] to Gibeah of Saul, [2] in the ears of the people; [1] their voice, [2] and they wept. [1] |

5 וְהִנֵּ֣ה שָׁא֗וּל [3] Revi'i בָּ֣א אַחֲרֵ֤י הַבָּקָר֙ [3] Pashta מִן־הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef מַה־לָּעָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha כִּ֣י יִבְכּ֑וּ [1] Etnachta אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha אַנְשֵׁ֥י יָבֵֽישׁ׃ [1] Silluq |
5 And behold, Saul [3] came following the cattle [3] from the field, [2] “What's happened to the people [2] that they are weeping?” [1] the words [2] of the men of Jabesh. [1] |

6 וַתִּצְלַ֤ח רֽוּחַ־אֱלֹהִים֙ [3] Pashta עַל־שָׁא֔וּל [2] Zaqef אֶת־הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה [1] Etnachta מְאֹֽד׃ [1] Silluq |
6 And the Spirit of God rushed [3] on Saul [2] these words; [1] exceedingly. [1] |

7 וַיִּקַּח֩ צֶ֨מֶד בָּקָ֜ר [4] Geresh וַֽיְנַתְּחֵ֗הוּ [3] Revi'i בְּכׇל־גְּב֣וּל יִשְׂרָאֵל֮ [3] Zarqa בְּיַ֣ד הַמַּלְאָכִ֣ים ׀ לֵאמֹר֒ [2] Segol אַחֲרֵ֤י שָׁאוּל֙ [3] Pashta וְאַחַ֣ר שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef לִבְקָר֑וֹ [1] Etnachta עַל־הָעָ֔ם [2] Zaqef כְּאִ֥ישׁ אֶחָֽד׃ [1] Silluq |
7 And he took a pair of oxen [4] and he cut them in pieces, [3] throughout all the territory of Israel [3] by the hand of messengers saying, [2] after Saul [3] and after Samuel, [2] to his oxen.” [1] on the people, [2] as one man. [1] |

8 וַֽיִּפְקְדֵ֖ם [2] Tip'cha בְּבָ֑זֶק [1] Etnachta שְׁלֹ֣שׁ מֵא֣וֹת אֶ֔לֶף [2] Zaqef שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים אָֽלֶף׃ [1] Silluq |
8 And he counted them [2] at Bezek; [1] three hundred thousand, [2] thirty thousand. [1] |

9 וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ [4] Gershayim לַמַּלְאָכִ֣ים הַבָּאִ֗ים [3] Revi'i לְאִישׁ֙ [3] Pashta יָבֵ֣ישׁ גִּלְעָ֔ד [2] Zaqef תִּֽהְיֶֽה־לָכֶ֥ם תְּשׁוּעָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha *בחם **כְּחֹ֣ם הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ [1] Etnachta וַיַּגִּ֛ידוּ [3] Tevir לְאַנְשֵׁ֥י יָבֵ֖ישׁ [2] Tip'cha וַיִּשְׂמָֽחוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
9 And they said [4] to the messengers who had come, [3] to the men [3] of Jabesh Gilead, [2] your deliverance will come, [2] by the time the sun is hot.’ ” [1] and they told [3] the men of Jabesh, [2] and they were glad. [1] |

10 וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ [3] Pashta אַנְשֵׁ֣י יָבֵ֔ישׁ [2] Zaqef נֵצֵ֣א אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta כְּכׇל־הַטּ֖וֹב [2] Tip'cha בְּעֵינֵיכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq ס |
10 And they said, [3] the men of Jabesh, [2] we will come out to you; [1] all that seems good [2] in your eyes.” [1] § |

11 וַיְהִ֣י מִֽמׇּחֳרָ֗ת [3] Revi'i וַיָּ֨שֶׂם שָׁא֣וּל אֶת־הָעָם֮ [3] Zarqa שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה רָאשִׁים֒ [2] Segol בְּאַשְׁמֹ֣רֶת הַבֹּ֔קֶר [2] Zaqef עַד־חֹ֣ם הַיּ֑וֹם [1] Etnachta וַיָּפֻ֔צוּ [2] Zaqef שְׁנַ֥יִם יָֽחַד׃ [1] Silluq |
11 And when the next day came, [3] Saul made the people [3] three companies, [2] in the morning watch, [2] until the heat of the day; [1] they were scattered, [2] two together. [1] |

12 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר הָעָם֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef שָׁא֖וּל [2] Tip'cha יִמְלֹ֣ךְ עָלֵ֑ינוּ [1] Etnachta וּנְמִיתֵֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
12 And the people said [3] to Samuel, [2] ‘Shall Saul [2] reign over us?’ [1] that we may put them to death!” [1] |

13 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֔וּל [2] Zaqef לֹא־יוּמַ֥ת אִ֖ישׁ [2] Tip'cha בַּיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה [1] Etnachta עָשָֽׂה־יְהֹוָ֥ה תְּשׁוּעָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq |
13 And Saul said, [2] “No one shall be put to death [2] today; [1] the LORD has worked deliverance [2] in Israel.” [1] |

14 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר שְׁמוּאֵל֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־הָעָ֔ם [2] Zaqef וְנֵלְכָ֣ה הַגִּלְגָּ֑ל [1] Etnachta הַמְּלוּכָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
14 And Samuel said [3] to the people, [2] Let’s go to Gilgal; [1] the kingship.” [1] |

15 וַיֵּלְכ֨וּ כׇל־הָעָ֜ם [4] Geresh הַגִּלְגָּ֗ל [3] Revi'i לִפְנֵ֤י יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta בַּגִּלְגָּ֔ל [2] Zaqef זְבָחִ֥ים שְׁלָמִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta וְכׇל־אַנְשֵׁ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha עַד־מְאֹֽד׃ [1] Silluq פ |
15 And they went, all the people, [4] to Gilgal, [3] before the LORD [3] in Gilgal, [2] sacrifices of peace offerings [2] before the LORD; [1] and all the men of Israel [2] greatly. [1] ¶ |
