שמואל א 12 | 1 Samuel 12 | |||
1 And Samuel said [3] to all Israel, [2] I have listened to your voice, [2] to me; [1] a king. [1] |
2 And now [4] behold, the king [4] walks before you, [3] I am old and I am grey-haired, [2] behold, they are with you; [1] I have walked before you [2] up to this day. [1] |
3 הִנְנִ֣י עֲנ֣וּ בִי֩ נֶ֨גֶד יְהֹוָ֜ה [4] Geresh וְנֶ֣גֶד מְשִׁיח֗וֹ [3] Revi'i וַחֲמ֧וֹר מִ֣י לָקַ֗חְתִּי [3] Revi'i אֶת־מִ֣י רַצּ֔וֹתִי [2] Zaqef לָקַ֣חְתִּי כֹ֔פֶר [2] Zaqef בּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta לָכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
3 Here I am. Testify against me before the LORD [4] and before his anointed. [3] or whose donkey have I taken? [3] Whom have I oppressed? [2] have I taken a bribe, [2] by it? [1] to you.” [1] |
[1] Silluq |
4 And they said, [2] “You have not defrauded us [2] and you have not oppressed us; [1] anything.” [1] |
5 And he said to them, [4] “The LORD is a witness against you, [3] this day, [2] in my hand [2] anything.” [1] “He is witness.” [1] ¶ |
6 And Samuel said [2] to the people, [1] who appointed [3] Moses and Aaron, [2] your fathers [2] from the land of Egypt. [1] |
7 Now therefore [3] present yourselves [3] that I may plead with you [2] before the LORD; [1] all the righteous acts of the LORD [2] and with your fathers. [1] |
8 “When Jacob went [2] to Egypt; [1] to the LORD, [2] Moses and Aaron, [3] from Egypt, [2] in this place. [1] |
9 “But they forgot [2] the LORD their God; [1] into the hand of Sisera, commander of the army of Hazor, [4] and into the hand of the Philistines, [3] of the king of Moab, [2] against them. [1] |
10 And they cried out to the LORD [3] and they said, ‘We have sinned, [2] the LORD, [2] and the Ashtaroth; [1] deliver us [3] from the hand of our enemies, [2] and we will serve you.’ [1] |
11 And the LORD sent [3] Jerubbaal and Bedan, [2] and Samuel; [1] from the hand of your enemies [3] on every side, [2] in safety. [1] |
12 “When you saw [3] the king of the children of Ammon [3] was coming against you, [2] ‘No, [2] but a king, [2] he shall reign over us;’ [1] was your king. [1] |
13 So now [3] behold the king [3] whom you have chosen, [2] whom you asked for; [1] over you [2] a king. [1] |
14 If you will fear the LORD [3] and you will serve him [3] and you will listen to his voice, [2] the mouth of the LORD; [1] and also the king [3 3] who has become king over you, [2] the LORD your God. [1] |
15 But if you will not listen [3] to the voice of the LORD, [2] the mouth of the LORD; [1] against you, [2] and against your fathers. [1] |
16 “Also now [3] stand and see [2] this; [1] is about to do [2] before your eyes. [1] |
17 Is it not the harvest of wheat [3] today? [2] to the LORD, [2] and rain; [1] that your evil is great [3] which you have done [3] in the eyes of the LORD, [2] a king.” [1] § |
18 So Samuel called out [3] to the LORD, [2] thunder and rain [2] on that day; [1] the LORD [2] and Samuel. [1] |
19 And all the people said [4] to Samuel, [3] to the LORD your God, [2] an evil thing, [2] a king.” [1] |
20 And Samuel said to the people, [3] “Don’t be afraid. [2] all the evil [2] this; [1] do not turn aside [3 3] from following the LORD, [2] with all your heart. [1] |
[2] Tip'cha |
21 And do not [2] turn aside, [1] go after vain things [3] and will not deliver, [2] |
22 For [4] the LORD will not abandon [3] his people, [2] his great name; [1] it was the LORD's own choice [2] for himself [2] a people. [1] |
23 I also, [3] far be it from me [3] that I should sin against the LORD, [2] to pray for you; [1] in the way of the good [2] and the upright. [1] |
24 אַ֣ךְ ׀ [4] Legarmeh יְר֣אוּ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֗ה [3] Revi'i בֶּאֱמֶ֖ת [2] Tip'cha אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר־הִגְדִּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha עִמָּכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
24 Only [4] fear the LORD [3] in faithfulness, [2] what great things he has done [2] for you. [1] |
25 But if still [2] you do evil; [1] you will be swept away.” [1] ¶ |
