[4]
	²וַיְהִ֗י [3] Revi'a מִיּ֞וֹם [4] Gershayim שֶׁ֤בֶת הָאָרוֹן֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta בְּקִרְיַ֣ת יְעָרִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef וַיִּרְבּוּ֙ [3] Pashta הַיָּמִ֔ים [2] Zaqef וַיִּהְי֖וּ [2] Tip'cha עֶשְׂרִ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה [1] Munach Etnachta וַיִּנָּה֛וּ [3] Tevir כׇּל־בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Merkha Tip'cha אַחֲרֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Merkha Silluq ס		²From the day that the ark stayed in Kiriath Jearim, the time was long—for it was twenty years; and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD. [3]
	³וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שְׁמוּאֵ֗ל [3] Munach Revi'a אֶל־כׇּל־בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵל֮ [3] Munach Zarqa לֵאמֹר֒ [2] Segol אִם־בְּכׇל־לְבַבְכֶ֗ם [3] Revi'a אַתֶּ֤ם שָׁבִים֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta אֶל־יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef הָסִ֜ירוּ [4] Geresh אֶת־אֱלֹהֵ֧י הַנֵּכָ֛ר [3] Darga Tevir מִתּוֹכְכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha וְהָעַשְׁתָּר֑וֹת [1] Etnachta וְהָכִ֨ינוּ לְבַבְכֶ֤ם אֶל־יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Qadma Mapakh Pashta וְעִבְדֻ֣הוּ לְבַדּ֔וֹ [2] Munach Zaqef וְיַצֵּ֥ל אֶתְכֶ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha מִיַּ֥ד פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		³Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you are returning to the LORD with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts to the LORD, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.” [3]
	⁴וַיָּסִ֙ירוּ֙ [3] Pashta בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Munach Zaqef אֶת־הַבְּעָלִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha וְאֶת־הָעַשְׁתָּרֹ֑ת [1] Etnachta וַיַּעַבְד֥וּ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Merkha Tip'cha לְבַדּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq פ		⁴Then the children of Israel removed the Baals and the Ashtaroth, and served the LORD only. [3]
	⁵וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל [2] Munach Zaqef קִבְצ֥וּ אֶת־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Merkha Tip'cha הַמִּצְפָּ֑תָה [1] Etnachta וְאֶתְפַּלֵּ֥ל בַּעַדְכֶ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha אֶל־יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq		⁵Samuel said, “Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to the LORD for you.” [2]
	⁶וַיִּקָּבְצ֣וּ הַ֠מִּצְפָּ֠תָה [4] Munach TelishaG וַיִּֽשְׁאֲבוּ־מַ֜יִם [4] Geresh וַֽיִּשְׁפְּכ֣וּ ׀ [4] Munach Legarmeh לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֗ה [3] Munach Revi'a וַיָּצ֙וּמוּ֙ [3] Pashta בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא [2] Munach Zaqef וַיֹּ֣אמְרוּ שָׁ֔ם [2] Munach Zaqef חָטָ֖אנוּ [2] Tip'cha לַֽיהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֧ט שְׁמוּאֵ֛ל [3] Darga Tevir אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Merkha Tip'cha בַּמִּצְפָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq		⁶They gathered together to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured it out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and said there, “We have sinned against the LORD.” Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah. ¶ [4]
	⁷וַיִּשְׁמְע֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים [3] Munach Revi'a כִּֽי־הִתְקַבְּצ֤וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta הַמִּצְפָּ֔תָה [2] Zaqef וַיַּעֲל֥וּ סַרְנֵֽי־פְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים [2] Merkha Tip'cha אֶל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta וַֽיִּשְׁמְעוּ֙ [3] Pashta בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Munach Zaqef וַיִּֽרְא֖וּ [2] Tip'cha מִפְּנֵ֥י פְלִשְׁתִּֽים׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		⁷When the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together at Mizpah, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. When the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines. [3]
	⁸וַיֹּֽאמְר֤וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta אֶל־שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef אַל־תַּחֲרֵ֣שׁ מִמֶּ֔נּוּ [2] Munach Zaqef מִזְּעֹ֖ק [2] Tip'cha אֶל־יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ [1] Munach Etnachta וְיֹשִׁעֵ֖נוּ [2] Tip'cha מִיַּ֥ד פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		⁸The children of Israel said to Samuel, “Don’t stop crying to the LORD our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.” [3]
	⁹וַיִּקַּ֣ח שְׁמוּאֵ֗ל [3] Munach Revi'a טְלֵ֤ה חָלָב֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta אֶחָ֔ד [2] Zaqef ויעלה *וַיַּֽעֲלֵ֧הוּ עוֹלָ֛ה [3] Darga Tevir כָּלִ֖יל [2] Tip'cha לַיהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta וַיִּזְעַ֨ק שְׁמוּאֵ֤ל אֶל־יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Qadma Mapakh Pashta בְּעַ֣ד יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Munach Zaqef וַֽיַּעֲנֵ֖הוּ [2] Tip'cha יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq		⁹Samuel took a suckling lamb, and offered it for a whole burnt offering to the LORD. Samuel cried to the LORD for Israel, and the LORD answered him. [3]
	¹⁰וַיְהִ֤י שְׁמוּאֵל֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta מַעֲלֶ֣ה הָעוֹלָ֔ה [2] Munach Zaqef וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֣ים נִגְּשׁ֔וּ [2] Munach Zaqef לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta וַיַּרְעֵ֣ם יְהֹוָ֣ה בְּקוֹל־גָּ֠ד֠וֹל [4] Munach Munach TelishaG בַּיּ֨וֹם הַה֤וּא עַל־פְּלִשְׁתִּים֙ [3] Qadma Mapakh Pashta וַיְהֻמֵּ֔ם [2] Zaqef וַיִּנָּגְפ֖וּ [2] Tip'cha לִפְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		¹⁰As Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines came near to battle against Israel; but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day on the Philistines and confused them; and they were struck down before Israel. 	¹¹וַיֵּ֨צְא֜וּ [4] Qadma Geresh אַנְשֵׁ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta מִן־הַמִּצְפָּ֔ה [2] Zaqef וַיִּרְדְּפ֖וּ [2] Tip'cha אֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים [1] Etnachta וַיַּכּ֕וּם [2] ZaqefG עַד־מִתַּ֖חַת [2] Tip'cha לְבֵ֥ית כָּֽר׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		¹¹The men of Israel went out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, and struck them until they came under Beth Kar. ¶ [4]
	¹²וַיִּקַּ֨ח שְׁמוּאֵ֜ל [4] Qadma Geresh אֶ֣בֶן אַחַ֗ת [3] Munach Revi'a וַיָּ֤שֶׂם בֵּֽין־הַמִּצְפָּה֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta וּבֵ֣ין הַשֵּׁ֔ן [2] Munach Zaqef וַיִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמָ֖הּ [2] Merkha Tip'cha אֶ֣בֶן הָעָ֑זֶר [1] Munach Etnachta וַיֹּאמַ֕ר [2] ZaqefG עַד־הֵ֖נָּה [2] Tip'cha עֲזָרָ֥נוּ יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		¹²Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, “The LORD helped us until now.” [4]
	¹³וַיִּכָּֽנְעוּ֙ [3] Pashta הַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef וְלֹֽא־יָסְפ֣וּ ע֔וֹד [2] Munach Zaqef לָב֖וֹא [2] Tip'cha בִּגְב֣וּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Munach Etnachta וַתְּהִ֤י יַד־יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta בַּפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef כֹּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha יְמֵ֥י שְׁמוּאֵֽל׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		¹³So the Philistines were subdued, and they stopped coming within the border of Israel. The LORD’s hand was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel. ¶ [3]
	¹⁴וַתָּשֹׁ֣בְנָה הֶעָרִ֡ים [4] Munach Pazer אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָֽקְחוּ־פְלִשְׁתִּים֩ מֵאֵ֨ת יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל ׀ לְיִשְׂרָאֵל֙ [3] Munach TelishaQ Qadma Mapakh Pashta מֵעֶקְר֣וֹן וְעַד־גַּ֔ת [2] Munach Zaqef וְאֶ֨ת־גְּבוּלָ֔ן [2] Qadma Zaqef הִצִּ֥יל יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Merkha Tip'cha מִיַּ֣ד פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים [1] Munach Etnachta וַיְהִ֣י שָׁל֔וֹם [2] Munach Zaqef בֵּ֥ין יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Merkha Tip'cha וּבֵ֥ין הָאֱמֹרִֽי׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		¹⁴The cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even to Gath; and Israel recovered its border out of the hand of the Philistines. There was peace between Israel and the Amorites. ¶ [4]
	¹⁵וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֤ט שְׁמוּאֵל֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef כֹּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha יְמֵ֥י חַיָּֽיו׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		¹⁵Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life. [3]
	¹⁶וְהָלַ֗ךְ [3] Revi'a מִדֵּ֤י שָׁנָה֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta בְּשָׁנָ֔ה [2] Zaqef וְסָבַב֙ [3] Pashta בֵּֽית־אֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef וְהַגִּלְגָּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha וְהַמִּצְפָּ֑ה [1] Etnachta וְשָׁפַט֙ [3] Pashta אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef אֵ֥ת כׇּל־הַמְּקוֹמ֖וֹת [2] Merkha Tip'cha הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁶He went from year to year in a circuit to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah; and he judged Israel in all those places. [3]
	¹⁷וּתְשֻׁבָת֤וֹ הָרָמָ֙תָה֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta כִּֽי־שָׁ֣ם בֵּית֔וֹ [2] Munach Zaqef וְשָׁ֖ם [2] Tip'cha שָׁפָ֣ט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Munach Etnachta וַיִּבֶן־שָׁ֥ם מִזְבֵּ֖חַ [2] Merkha Tip'cha לַיהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq פ		¹⁷His return was to Ramah, for his house was there, and he judged Israel there; and he built an altar to the LORD there. ¶ [3]
