1 In year three [2] of the reign [2] of Jehoiakim king of Judah; [1] to Jerusalem, [2] and he laid siege against it. [1] |
|||
2 And the Lord gave into his hand [4] Jehoiakim king of Judah, [3] of the vessels of the house of God, [2] to the house of his god; [1] to the house [2] of the treasury of his god. [1] |
|||
3 And the king said [2] to Ashpenaz [2] the chief of his officials; [1] some of the people of Israel, [3] some of the royal offspring, [2] and some of the nobles, [1] |
|||
4 young men in whom was no blemish and of good appearance [4] and having insight in all wisdom, [3] and understanding learning, [2] had ability in them [2] in the palace of the king; [1] and the language of the Chaldeans. [1] |
|||
5 And the king assigned for them [4] day by day, [3] and of the wine that he drank, [2] three years; [1] they should stand [2] before the king. [1] |
|||
[1] Silluq |
6 Now among them [2] were some from the sons of Judah; [1] Mishael [2] and Azariah. [1] |
|||
7 And he gave to them, [3] the chief of the officials, [2] names; [1] Belteshazzar, [3] Shadrach, [2] and to Azariah [2] Abednego. [1] |
|||
8 But Daniel resolved [3] in his heart [2] with the delicacies of the king, [2] or with the wine which he drank; [1] from the chief of the officials [2] he might not defile himself. [1] |
|||
9 And God brought [3] Daniel [2] and compassion; [1] the chief of the officials. [1] |
|||
10 And he said, [4] the chief of the officials, [3] to Daniel, [2] my lord the king, [2] your food [2] and your drink; [1] why should he see your faces [4] looking thin, [3] who are of your age? [2] to the king.” [1] |
|||
11 So Daniel said [2] to the steward; [1] the chief of the officials, [2] Mishael [2] and Azariah, [1] |
|||
12 “Test your servants I beg you [2] ten days; [1] vegetables [3] to eat, [2] and water to drink. [1] |

13 Then let them be observed before you, [3 3] our appearance, [2] of the young men [2] -- [2] the delicacies of the king; [1] deal [2] with your servants.” [1] |
|||
[1] Silluq |
14 So he listened to them [2] in this matter; [1] ten days. [1] |
|||
15 And at the end [3] of ten days, [2] better, [2] in flesh; [1] who were eating [2] -- [2] the delicacies of the king. [1] |

16 So the steward [3] took away [3] their delicacies, [2] that they would drink; [1] vegetables. [1] |

17 And these young men, [3 3] the four of them, [2] knowledge and insight [2] in all writing and wisdom; [1] in all visions [2] and dreams. [1] |
|||
18 Now at the end [3] of the days, [2] to bring them; [1] the chief of the officials, [2] Nebuchadnezzar. [1] |

19 And he spoke with them, [3] the king, [2 2] any among all of them [2] Mishael [2] and Azariah; [1] before the king. [1] |

20 וְכֹ֗ל [3] Revi'i דְּבַר֙ [3] Pashta חׇכְמַ֣ת בִּינָ֔ה [2] Zaqef הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ [1] Etnachta עֶ֣שֶׂר יָד֗וֹת [3] Revi'i הָֽאַשָּׁפִ֔ים [2] Zaqef בְּכׇל־מַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
20 And in every [3] matter [3] of wisdom and understanding [2] the king; [1] ten hands [3] the enchanters, [2] were in all his kingdom. [1] |
|||

2 So the king said [4 4] to call for the magicians [4] and for the enchanters, [3] and for the Chaldeans, [2] his dreams; [1] and they stood [2] before the king. [1] |

13 So the decree went out, [2] and the wise men [2] were about to be killed; [1] Daniel and his companions [2] to be killed. [1] § |

11 And from the time [3] that the daily burnt offering is taken away, [2] is the desolating abomination; [1] one thousand [2] two hundred and ninety. [1] |
|||
12 Blessed is the one who waits [2] and he arrives; [1] one thousand [2] three hundred [2] thirty and five. [1] |
