אֲשֶׁר־נִקְרָ֥א שְׁמ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
בֵּלְטְאשַׁצַּ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
וֶאֱמֶ֤ת הַדָּבָר֙ [3] Pashta
וְצָבָ֣א גָד֔וֹל [2] Zaqef
 
וּבִין֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־הַדָּבָ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
וּבִ֥ינָה ל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha

and he had understanding [2]
of the vision. [1]

וּבָשָׂ֥ר וָיַ֛יִן [3] Tevir
לֹא־בָ֥א אֶל־פִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
 
וְס֣וֹךְ לֹא־סָ֑כְתִּי [1] Etnachta
 
עַד־מְלֹ֕את [2] ZaqefG

וְהִנֵּ֥ה אִישׁ־אֶחָ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
לָב֣וּשׁ בַּדִּ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וּמׇתְנָ֥יו חֲגֻרִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
בְּכֶ֥תֶם אוּפָֽז׃ [1] Silluq

and behold, a man [2]
clothed in linen; [1]
 
whose loins were girded [2]
with fine gold of Uphaz. [1]
6 וּגְוִיָּת֣וֹ כְתַרְשִׁ֗ישׁ [3] Revi'i
 
וּפָנָ֞יו [4] Gershayim
כְּמַרְאֵ֤ה בָרָק֙ [3] Pashta
 
וְעֵינָיו֙ [3] Pashta
כְּלַפִּ֣ידֵי אֵ֔שׁ [2] Zaqef
 
וּזְרֹֽעֹתָיו֙ [3] Pashta
וּמַרְגְּלֹתָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
כְּעֵ֖ין [2] Tip'cha
נְחֹ֣שֶׁת קָלָ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
וְק֥וֹל דְּבָרָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
כְּק֥וֹל הָמֽוֹן׃ [1] Silluq

like the appearance of lightning [3]
 
and his eyes [3]
like flaming torches, [2]
 
and his arms [3]
and his feet [2]

and the sound of his words [2]
was like the sound of a multitude. [1]
7 וְרָאִ֩יתִי֩ אֲנִ֨י דָנִיֵּ֤אל לְבַדִּי֙ [3] Pashta

וְהָאֲנָשִׁים֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָי֣וּ עִמִּ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
לֹ֥א רָא֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־הַמַּרְאָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
אֲבָ֗ל [3] Revi'i
חֲרָדָ֤ה גְדֹלָה֙ [3] Pashta
נָפְלָ֣ה עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וַֽיִּבְרְח֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
בְּהֵחָבֵֽא׃ [1] Silluq

the vision, [2]
 
for the men [3]
who were with me, [2]
 
they didn’t see [2]
the vision; [1]
 
but [3]
great terror, [3]
it fell on them, [2]
 
and they fled [2]
to hide themselves. [1]

נִשְׁאַ֣רְתִּי לְבַדִּ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וָֽאֶרְאֶ֗ה [3] Revi'i
אֶת־הַמַּרְאָ֤ה הַגְּדֹלָה֙ [3] Pashta
הַזֹּ֔את [2] Zaqef
 
וְלֹ֥א נִשְׁאַר־בִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
כֹּ֑חַ [1] Etnachta
 
וְהוֹדִ֗י [3] Revi'i
נֶהְפַּ֤ךְ עָלַי֙ [3] Pashta
לְמַשְׁחִ֔ית [2] Zaqef
 
וְלֹ֥א עָצַ֖רְתִּי [2] Tip'cha
כֹּֽחַ׃ [1] Silluq

I was left behind, I alone, [2]
 
and I saw [3]
the great vision, [3]
this, [2]
 
and none was left in me, [2]
strength; [1]
 
and my vigor, [3]
it was changed in me [3]
into frailty, [2]
 
and I retained no [2]
strength. [1]
9 וָאֶשְׁמַ֖ע [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־ק֣וֹל דְּבָרָ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וּכְשׇׁמְעִי֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־ק֣וֹל דְּבָרָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
וַאֲנִ֗י [3] Revi'i
הָיִ֛יתִי [3] Tevir
נִרְדָּ֥ם עַל־פָּנַ֖י [2] Tip'cha
וּפָנַ֥י אָֽרְצָה׃ [1] Silluq

the sound of his words; [1]
 
and when I heard [3]
the sound of his words, [2]
 
then I, [3]
I was [3]
in a deep sleep on my face, [2]
with my face to the ground. [1]
10 וְהִנֵּה־יָ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
נָ֣גְעָה בִּ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וַתְּנִיעֵ֥נִי עַל־בִּרְכַּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
וְכַפּ֥וֹת יָדָֽי׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 10 Then behold a hand, [2]
it touched me; [1]
 
and it set me trembling on my knees [2]
and the palms of my hands. [1]
11 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֡י [4] Pazer
דָּנִיֵּ֣אל אִישׁ־חֲ֠מֻד֠וֹת [4 4] TelishaG
הָבֵ֨ן בַּדְּבָרִ֜ים [4] Geresh
אֲשֶׁר֩ אָנֹכִ֨י דֹבֵ֤ר אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ [3 3] Pashta
 
וַעֲמֹ֣ד עַל־עׇמְדֶ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י עַתָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
שֻׁלַּ֣חְתִּי אֵלֶ֑יךָ [1] Etnachta
 
וּבְדַבְּר֥וֹ עִמִּ֛י [3] Tevir
אֶת־הַדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
עָמַ֥דְתִּי מַרְעִֽיד׃ [1] Silluq

“O Daniel, man greatly loved, [4 4]
understand the words [4]
that I am about to speak to you, [3 3]
 
and stand upright, [2]
 
for now [2]
I have been sent to you.” [1]
 
And when he had spoken to me [3]
this word, [2]
I stood up trembling. [1]
12 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַי֮ [3] Zarqa
אַל־תִּירָ֣א דָנִיֵּאל֒ [2] Segol
 
כִּ֣י ׀ [4] Legarmeh
מִן־הַיּ֣וֹם הָרִאשׁ֗וֹן [3] Revi'i
 
אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֧תָּ אֶֽת־לִבְּךָ֛ [3] Tevir
לְהָבִ֧ין וּלְהִתְעַנּ֛וֹת [3] Tevir
לִפְנֵ֥י אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha
 
נִשְׁמְע֣וּ דְבָרֶ֑יךָ [1] Etnachta
 
וַאֲנִי־בָ֖אתִי [2] Tip'cha
בִּדְבָרֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq

“Fear not O Daniel, [2]
 
for [4]
from the first day [3]
 
that you set your heart [3]
to understand and to humble yourself [3]
before your God, [2]
 
your words were heard; [1]
 
and I, I have come [2]
because of your words. [1]
13 וְשַׂ֣ר ׀ [4] Legarmeh
מַלְכ֣וּת פָּרַ֗ס [3] Revi'i
 
עֹמֵ֤ד לְנֶגְדִּי֙ [3] Pashta
עֶשְׂרִ֣ים וְאֶחָ֣ד י֔וֹם [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִנֵּ֣ה מִֽיכָאֵ֗ל [3] Revi'i
אַחַ֛ד [3] Tevir
הַשָּׂרִ֥ים הָרִאשֹׁנִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
בָּ֣א לְעׇזְרֵ֑נִי [1] Etnachta
 
וַאֲנִי֙ [3] Pashta
נוֹתַ֣רְתִּי שָׁ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
אֵ֖צֶל [2] Tip'cha
מַלְכֵ֥י פָרָֽס׃ [1] Silluq

of the kingdom of Persia [3]
 
stood against me [3]
twenty and one days, [2]
 
but behold, Michael, [3]
one [3]
of the chief princes, [2]
he came to help me; [1]
 
for I, [3]
I had been detained there [2]
 
with [2]
the kings of Persia. [1]

לַהֲבִ֣ינְךָ֔ [2] Zaqef
 
אֵ֛ת [3] Tevir
אֲשֶׁר־יִקְרָ֥ה לְעַמְּךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
בְּאַחֲרִ֣ית הַיָּמִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
כִּי־ע֥וֹד חָז֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha
לַיָּמִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

to make you understand [2]

what will happen to your people [2]
at the end of the days; [1]
 
for the vision is yet [2]

נָתַ֧תִּי פָנַ֛י [3] Tevir
אַ֖רְצָה [2] Tip'cha
וְנֶאֱלָֽמְתִּי׃ [1] Silluq

I bowed my face [3]
toward the ground [2]
and I was speechless. [1]

בְּנֵ֣י אָדָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
נֹגֵ֖עַ [2] Tip'cha
עַל־שְׂפָתָ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וָאֶפְתַּח־פִּ֗י [3] Revi'i
וָאֲדַבְּרָה֙ [3] Pashta
וָאֹֽמְרָה֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־הָעֹמֵ֣ד לְנֶגְדִּ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
אֲדֹנִ֗י [3] Revi'i
בַּמַּרְאָה֙ [3] Pashta
נֶהֶפְכ֤וּ צִירַי֙ [3] Pashta
עָלַ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וְלֹ֥א עָצַ֖רְתִּי [2] Tip'cha

my lips; [1]
 
then I opened my mouth, [3]
and I spoke [3]
and I said [3]
to the one standing before me, [2]
 
“O my lord, [3]
because of the vision, [3]
anguish has come [3]
over me, [2]
 
and I have not retained [2]
strength. [1]
17 וְהֵ֣יךְ יוּכַ֗ל [3] Revi'i
עֶ֤בֶד אֲדֹנִי֙ [3] Pashta
זֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
לְדַבֵּ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
עִם־אֲדֹ֣נִי זֶ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַאֲנִ֤י מֵעַ֙תָּה֙ [3 3] Pashta
לֹֽא־יַעֲמׇד־בִּ֣י כֹ֔חַ [2] Zaqef
 
וּנְשָׁמָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֥א נִשְׁאֲרָה־בִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

the servant of my lord, [3]
this, [2]
 
speak [2]
with this my lord? [1]
 
For I - from now [3 3]
no strength remains in me, [2]
 
and breath, [2]
there is none left in me.” [1]
18 וַיֹּ֧סֶף וַיִּגַּע־בִּ֛י [3] Tevir
כְּמַרְאֵ֥ה אָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
וַֽיְחַזְּקֵֽנִי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 18 Then he again touched me, [3]
the one who looked like a man, [2]
and he strengthened me. [1]
19 וַיֹּ֜אמֶר [4] Geresh
אַל־תִּירָ֧א אִישׁ־חֲמֻד֛וֹת [3] Tevir
שָׁל֥וֹם לָ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha
חֲזַ֣ק וַחֲזָ֑ק [1] Etnachta
 
וּֽכְדַבְּר֤וֹ עִמִּי֙ [3] Pashta
הִתְחַזַּ֔קְתִּי [2] Zaqef
 
וָאֹ֥מְרָ֛ה [3] Tevir
יְדַבֵּ֥ר אֲדֹנִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
כִּ֥י חִזַּקְתָּֽנִי׃ [1] Silluq

“Fear not, O man greatly loved, [3]
peace be to you, [2]
be strong now, be strong.” [1]
 
And as he spoke to me [3]
I was strengthened, [2]
 
and I said, [3]
“Let my lord speak, [2]
for you have strengthened me.” [1]
20 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר [3] Revi'i
הֲיָדַ֙עְתָּ֙ [3 3] Pashta
לָמָּה־בָּ֣אתִי אֵלֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַתָּ֣ה אָשׁ֔וּב [2] Zaqef
לְהִלָּחֵ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
עִם־שַׂ֣ר פָּרָ֑ס [1] Etnachta
 
וַאֲנִ֣י יוֹצֵ֔א [2] Zaqef
וְהִנֵּ֥ה שַׂר־יָוָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
בָּֽא׃ [1] Silluq

“Do you know [3 3]
why I have come to you? [2]
 
But now I will return [2]
to fight [2]
against the prince of Persia; [1]
 
and when I go out, [2]
behold, the prince of Greece, [2]
he will come. [1]

אַגִּ֣יד לְךָ֔ [2] Zaqef
 
אֶת־הָרָשׁ֥וּם בִּכְתָ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
אֱמֶ֑ת [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֵ֨ין אֶחָ֜ד [4] Geresh
מִתְחַזֵּ֤ק עִמִּי֙ [3] Pashta
עַל־אֵ֔לֶּה [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י אִם־מִיכָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
