6 Then the king, [3] his countenance was changed in him, [2] they alarmed him; [1] were loosened, [2] one against another [2] began knocking. [1] |

7 The king called [3] loudly [2] the enchanters, [2] and the astrologers; [1] and said [4] to the wise men of Babylon, [3] reads [4] this writing, [3] he declares to me, [2] and a chain of gold [3] will be on his neck, [2] he shall rule.” [1] § |

10 The queen, [2] and his nobles, [2] she came in; [1] and she said, [3] live forever. [2] your thoughts, [2] let it not be changed. [1] |

11 There is a man [4] in your kingdom [3] a spirit of the holy gods [3] is in him, [2] illumination and insight [3] and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods, [2] it was found in him; [1] your father, [2] Chaldeans, [3] astrologers, [2] your father the king, [1] |

12 because [4] an extraordinary spirit [4] and understanding, [4] and insight [4] for interpreting dreams and declaring of riddles [4] and loosening of knots, [3] in Daniel, [2] Belteshazzar; [1] let Daniel be summoned, [2] and the interpretation he will declare.” [1] ¶ |

13 Then [3 3] Daniel, [2] before the king; [1] and said to Daniel, [3] one of the sons of the exile [3] of Judah, [2] the king my father, [2] from Judah? [1] |

14 וְשִׁמְעֵ֣ת *עליך **עֲלָ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef ר֥וּחַ אֱלָהִ֖ין [2] Tip'cha בָּ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta וְחׇכְמָ֥ה יַתִּירָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha הִשְׁתְּכַ֥חַת בָּֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
14 And I have heard of you, [2] a spirit of the gods [2] is in you; [1] and extraordinary wisdom, [2] it has been found in you. [1] |

15 And now [4] they have been brought before me, [3] the enchanters, [2] they should read, [2] to make known to me; [1] to declare. [1] |

16 וַאֲנָה֙ [3] Pashta שִׁמְעֵ֣ת *עליך **עֲלָ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef לְמִפְשַׁ֖ר [2] Tip'cha וְקִטְרִ֣ין לְמִשְׁרֵ֑א [1] Etnachta הֵן֩ *תוכל **תִּכּ֨וּל כְּתָבָ֜א [4] Geresh לְמִקְרֵ֗א [3] Revi'i לְהוֹדָ֣עוּתַ֔נִי [2] Zaqef *והמונכא **וְהַֽמְנִיכָ֤א דִֽי־דַהֲבָא֙ [3] Pashta עַֽל־צַוְּארָ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef תִּשְׁלַֽט׃ [1] Silluq פ |
16 But I, [3] I have heard of you, [2] to interpret, [2] and knots to loosen; [1] if the writing you are able [4] to read, [3] to make known to me, [2] with a chain of gold [3] around your neck, [2] you shall rule.” [1] ¶ |

17 Then [4] Daniel answered [3] before the king, [2] let them be for yourself, [2] give to another; [1] the writing [3] I will read to the king, [2] I will make known to him. [1] |

18 “Your [2] majesty; [1] Most High, [2] and the glory and the splendor [2] to Nebuchadnezzar your father. [1] |

19 וּמִן־רְבוּתָא֙ [3] Pashta דִּ֣י יְהַב־לֵ֔הּ [2] Zaqef אֻמַּיָּא֙ [3] Pashta וְלִשָּׁ֣נַיָּ֔א [2] Zaqef *זאעין **זָיְעִ֥ין וְדָחֲלִ֖ין [2] Tip'cha מִן־קֳדָמ֑וֹהִי [1] Etnachta הֲוָ֣ה קָטֵ֗ל [3] Revi'i הֲוָ֣ה מַחֵ֔א [2] Zaqef הֲוָ֣ה מָרִ֔ים [2] Zaqef הֲוָ֥א מַשְׁפִּֽל׃ [1] Silluq |
19 And because of the greatness [3] that he gave to him, [2] the nations [3] and the languages, [2] trembled and feared [2] before him; [1] he killed, [3] he let live, [2] he raised up, [2] he humbled. [1] |

20 But when [3] his heart was lifted up [2] it was hardened to act proudly; [1] from his royal throne, [2] was taken from him. [1] |

21 וּמִן־בְּנֵי֩ אֲנָשָׁ֨א טְרִ֜יד [4] Geresh וְלִבְבֵ֣הּ ׀ [4] Legarmeh עִם־חֵיוְתָ֣א *שוי **שַׁוִּ֗יו [3] Revi'i מְדֹרֵ֔הּ [2] Zaqef יְטַ֣עֲמוּנֵּ֔הּ [2] Zaqef גִּשְׁמֵ֣הּ יִצְטַבַּ֑ע [1] Etnachta אֱלָהָ֤א *עליא **עִלָּאָה֙ [3] Pashta בְּמַלְכ֣וּת אֲנָשָׁ֔א [2] Zaqef יְהָקֵ֥ים *עליה **עֲלַֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
21 And away from the sons of men he was driven, [4] and his heart [4] like that of a beast was made, [3] was his dwelling, [2] he was fed, [2] his body was drenched; [1] is God Most High [3] over the kingdom of men, [2] he grants authority over it. [1] |

22 “But you his son [3] O Belshazzar, [2] your heart; [1] all this [2] you knew, [1] |

23 וְעַ֣ל מָרֵֽא־שְׁמַיָּ֣א ׀ הִתְרוֹמַ֡מְתָּ [4] Pazer וּלְמָֽאנַיָּ֨א דִֽי־בַיְתֵ֜הּ [4] Geresh הַיְתִ֣יו *קדמיך **קׇֽדָמָ֗ךְ [3] Revi'i שֵֽׁגְלָתָ֣ךְ וּלְחֵנָתָךְ֮ [3] Zarqa שָׁתַ֣יִן בְּהוֹן֒ [2] Segol נְחָשָׁ֨א פַרְזְלָ֜א [4] Geresh אָעָ֣א וְאַבְנָ֗א [3] Revi'i לָֽא־חָזַ֧יִן וְלָא־שָׁמְעִ֛ין [3] Tevir וְלָ֥א יָדְעִ֖ין [2] Tip'cha דִּֽי־נִשְׁמְתָ֥ךְ בִּידֵ֛הּ [3] Tevir וְכׇל־אֹרְחָתָ֥ךְ לֵ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha לָ֥א הַדַּֽרְתָּ׃ [1] Silluq |
23 but against the Lord of the heavens you have lifted yourself up, [4] and the vessels of his house [4] have been brought before you, [3] your wives and your concubines, [3] are drinking from them, [2] the bronze, the iron, [4] the wood, and the stone, [3] don’t see and don't hear [3] and don't know, [2] in whose hand is your breath, [3] and to whom belong all your ways, [2] you have not honored. [1] |

24 Then [3 3] from before him [2] the palm of the hand; [1] it was inscribed. [1] |

25 “And this is the writing [2] which was inscribed; [1] TEKEL, and PARSIN.’ [1] |

26 דְּנָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha פְּשַֽׁר־מִלְּתָ֑א [1] Etnachta מְנָֽה־אֱלָהָ֥א מַלְכוּתָ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha וְהַשְׁלְמַֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
26 “This [2] is the interpretation of the matter; [1] God has numbered the days of your reign, [2] and he has brought it to an end. [1] |

28 ‘PERES’ [1] your kingdom, [2] to the Medes and Persians.” [1] |

29 Then [4] Belshazzar commanded, [3] in purple, [2] on his neck; [1] as third [2] in the kingdom. [1] |
