13 And I applied my heart [3] to seek and to search out [3] by wisdom [2] all that is done [2] under the heavens; [1] is a burdensome task [3] to the sons of men [2] |

17 And I applied my heart [3] to know wisdom, [2] and folly; [1] that this too [2] was a chasing after wind. [1] |

קהלת 2 | Ecclesiastes 2 | |||
1 I, I said [3] in my heart, [2] I will test you with pleasure [2] to see what is good;” [1] was meaningless. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
2 Of laughter [2] I said, “It is foolishness;” [1] “What does this accomplish?” [1] |
3 I searched in my heart [2] how to cheer with wine [2] my flesh; [1] guiding with wisdom [3] of how to take hold of folly, [2] for the sons of men [3] under the heavens, [2] days of their lives. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
4 I made great [2] my works; [1] houses, [2] vineyards. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
5 I made for myself [2] gardens [2] and parks; [1] all kinds of fruit trees. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
6 I made for myself [2] pools of water; [1] a forest [2] of sprouting trees. [1] |
7 I bought [3 3] male servants and female servants, [2] were my servants; [1] I had, [2] who were before me [2] in Jerusalem. [1] |
[2] Tip'cha |
8 I gathered for myself [3] also silver and gold, [2] and provinces; [1] male singers and female singers, [3] of the sons of men, [2] |
9 So I became great and I increased, [2] who were before me [2] in Jerusalem; [1] it stayed with me. [1] |
10 And anything [3] that my eyes desired, [2] from them; [1] from any pleasure [3] from all my labor, [2] from all my labor. [1] |
11 Yet when I, I looked [3] on all my works [3] that my hands had done, [2] that I had labored to do; [1] and a chasing after wind, [2] under the sun. [1] |
12 Then I, I turned [3] to consider wisdom, [2] and folly; [1] what is the man [3] after the king? [2] it has been done. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
13 Then I, I saw, [2] to wisdom [2] above folly; [1] above darkness. [1] |
14 The wise, [3] his eyes are in his head, [2] walks in darkness; [1] that one fate, [2] it will happen to them all. [1] |
15 So I, I said [4] in my heart, [3] I too, it will happen to me - [2] I [2] then so much?” [1] that this too [2] is futility. [1] |
16 For there is no remembrance of the wise, [3] along with the fool, [2] forever; [1] in the days to come, [3] all is forgotten. [2] will the wise die? [2] With the fool. [1] |
17 So I hated [3 3] life, [2] was the work [2] under the sun; [1] and a chasing after wind. [1] |
18 And I, I hated [3] all my labor [2] under the sun; [1] to the man [2] who comes after me. [1] |
19 And who knows, [3] wise will he be [3] or a fool, [2] over all of my labor, [2] under the sun. [1] is futility. [1] |
20 So I, I turned [2] to give my heart over to despair; [1] all the labor [2] under the sun. [1] |
21 For sometimes a man [3] who has labored [3] with wisdom and with knowledge, [2] and with skill; [1] who has not labored for it, [3] he must hand it over as an inheritance. [2] and a great evil. [1] |
22 For [4] what does a man get [3] for all his labor [2] of his heart; [1] under the sun? [1] |
23 For all his days are sorrows, [3] and grief [3 3] is his task, [2] his heart takes no rest. [1] is futility. [1] |
24 There is nothing better for a man [3] than to eat and drink, [2] satisfaction [2] in his labor; [1] I, I have seen, [2] from the hand of God [2] it is. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
25 For who can eat [3] or who can have enjoyment, [2] more than I? [1] |
26 For to the man [3] who is pleasing before him [2] wisdom and knowledge [2] and joy; [1] of gathering and collecting, [3] to one who is pleasing [3] before God. [2] and a chasing after wind. [1] |

1 A good name [2] is better than precious ointment; [1] is better than the day [2] of his birth. [1] |
2 Better [4] is to go to a house of mourning [3] to a house of feasting, [2] that [2] is the end of every man; [1] he will lay (it) to his heart. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
3 Better is grief [2] than laughter; [1] a heart is made glad. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
4 The heart of the wise [3] is in a house of mourning, [2] is in a house of mirth. [1] |

5 Better [2] is to listen to [2] the rebuke of the wise; [1] listen to [2] the song of fools. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
6 For like the crackling of thorns [3] under the pot, [2] is the laughter of the fool; [1] is futility. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
7 Surely oppression [2] makes the wise man look foolish; [1] a bribe. [1] |

10 Do not say, [3] “Why is it [2] the former, [2] than these?” [1] not from wisdom [2] have you asked about this. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
11 Wisdom is good [2] like an inheritance; [1] for those who see the sun. [1] |

12 For [3] wisdom is a shelter, [2] as money is a shelter; [1] is that wisdom, [2] it preserves the life of the one who has it. [1] |
[1] Silluq |

14 In the day of prosperity [3] be joyful, [2] consider; [1] God has made, [2] that man may not find out [3] what will be after him, [2] anything. [1] |
15 All this I have seen [2] in my fleeting days; [1] who perishes in his righteousness, [2] who lives long [2] in his evildoing. [1] |

17 Do not be greatly wicked, [2] and do not be a fool; [1] before your time? [1] |

[1] Silluq |
19 Wisdom, [2] it makes the wise strong; [1] rulers [2] in a city. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
20 For a man [2] who is righteous there is not [2] on the earth; [1] and he doesn’t sin. [1] |
21 Also to all the words [3] that people say [2] your heart; [1] you don't hear your servant [2] mocking you, [1] |
[1] Silluq |
22 for [3] many times also [2] your heart knows; [1] you have mocked others. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
23 All this [2] I have tested with wisdom; [1] but it [2] was far from me. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
24 Far away, [2] whatever has been; [1] who can find it out? [1] |
25 I turned, I and my heart, [3] to know and to examine, [2] and an explanation; [1] wickedness to be stupidity, [2] to be madness. [1] |
26 And I find [4] more bitter than death, [3] who snares and nets [3] her heart is, [2] before God, [3] he shall escape from her, [2] he will be captured by her. [1] |
[1] Silluq |

29 Only [3] look this I have discovered, [2] mankind [2] upright; [1] many schemes.” [1] |

קהלת 8 | Ecclesiastes 8 | |||
1 Who [3] is like the wise, [2] the interpretation of a matter? [1] it makes his face shine, [2] it is changed. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
2 I (say), [3] “Keep the king’s command!” [2] because of [2] the oath of God. [1] |
3 Do not be hasty from his presence [3] to go out, [2] for an evil cause; [1] whatever he desires, [2] he will do. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
4 Since the word of a king [2] is supreme; [1] “What are you doing?” [1] |
5 Whoever obeys a command, [2] he shall not experience [2] harm; [1] it will discern, [2] a wise heart. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
6 For to every matter [2] there [2] is a proper time and manner; [1] is heavy on him. [1] |
7 If he doesn’t know [2] what will be; [1] when it will be, [2] can tell him? [1] |
8 There is not a man [4] with power over the wind [3 3] to restrain the wind, [2] over the day of death, [2] during battle; [1] those who practice it. [1] |
9 All this I have seen [3 3] and I have applied my mind [2] that is done [2] under the sun; [1] when a man has power [3] over a man [2] to his hurt. [1] |
10 And so [4] I have seen the wicked buried [4] and they had come, [3] they had gone, [2] where this they had done; [1] is futility. [1] |
[2] Tip'cha |
11 Because [3] the sentence is not carried out [2] speedily; [1] fully set [4] is the heart of the sons of men [3] within them [2] |
12 Though a sinner [3] do evil [3] a hundred times [2] and he prolong for himself; [1] also I know [2] to those who fear God, [2] before him, [1] |

13 but good [3] the wicked shall not have, [2] like a shadow; [1] he does not fear [2] before God. [1] |
14 There is a futility [3 3] which is done on the earth, [2 2] there are righteous [3] according to the deeds of the wicked, [2] to whom it happens [2] according to the deeds of the righteous; [1] that this too [2] is futility. [1] |
[2] Tip'cha |
15 So I, I commended [3] enjoyment, [2] under the sun, [2] to eat and to drink [2] and to be happy; [1] it will accompany him in his labor [3] which God has given him [2] |

16 When I applied my heart [3] to know wisdom, [2] the activity [2] on the earth; [1] and in the night, [2] though his eyes [2] not seeing, [1] |

17 then I saw [3 3] all the work of God, [2] mankind, [3] the work [3] that is done under the sun, [2] though a man labor [3] to seek, [2] yet he does not find out; [1] to know, [2] find out. [1] |

2 All [4] is just as to all, [3] to the righteous and to the wicked, [3] and to the clean and to the unclean, [2] and to one who [2] doesn’t sacrifice; [1] so is the sinner, [2] just as [2] one fearing an oath. [1] |
