1 זְב֣וּבֵי מָ֔וֶת [2] Zaqef
יַבְאִ֥ישׁ יַבִּ֖יעַ [2] Tip'cha
שֶׁ֣מֶן רוֹקֵ֑חַ [1] Etnachta
 
יָקָ֛ר [3] Tevir
מֵחׇכְמָ֥ה מִכָּב֖וֹד [2] Tip'cha
סִכְל֥וּת מְעָֽט׃ [1] Silluq

make it stink and ferment, [2]
the oil of the perfumer; [1]
 
weighty [3]
more than wisdom, more than honor, [2]
is a little folly. [1]
2 לֵ֤ב חָכָם֙ [3] Pashta
לִֽימִינ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וְלֵ֥ב כְּסִ֖יל [2] Tip'cha
לִשְׂמֹאלֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 2 The heart of the wise [3]
is to his right, [2]
 
but the heart of a fool [2]
is to his left. [1]
3 וְגַם־בַּדֶּ֛רֶךְ [3] Tevir
*כשהסכל **כְּשֶׁסָּכָ֥ל הֹלֵ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha
לִבּ֣וֹ חָסֵ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
וְאָמַ֥ר לַכֹּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
סָכָ֥ל הֽוּא׃ [1] Silluq

as the fool walks, [2]
his heart lacks sense; [1]
 
and tells everyone [2]
that he is a fool. [1]
4 אִם־ר֤וּחַ הַמּוֹשֵׁל֙ [3] Pashta
תַּעֲלֶ֣ה עָלֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
מְקוֹמְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
אַל־תַּנַּ֑ח [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֣י מַרְפֵּ֔א [2] Zaqef
יַנִּ֖יחַ [2] Tip'cha
חֲטָאִ֥ים גְּדוֹלִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

your place, [2]
do not leave; [1]
 
for calmness, [2]
it will lay to rest [2]
great offenses. [1]

תַּ֣חַת הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ [1] Etnachta
 
כִּשְׁגָגָ֕ה [2] ZaqefG

מִלִּפְנֵ֥י הַשַּׁלִּֽיט׃ [1] Silluq

as an error [2]
which goes forth [2]
from before a ruler. [1]

וַעֲשִׁירִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
בַּשֵּׁ֥פֶל יֵשֵֽׁבוּ׃ [1] Silluq

in high positions, [2]
many; [1]
 
while the rich, [2]
they sit in low places. [1]
7 רָאִ֥יתִי עֲבָדִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
עַל־סוּסִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וְשָׂרִ֛ים [3] Tevir
הֹלְכִ֥ים כַּעֲבָדִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
עַל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 7 I have seen slaves [2]
on horses; [1]
 
and princes [3]
walking as slaves [2]
on the ground. [1]
8 חֹפֵ֥ר גּוּמָּ֖ץ [2] Tip'cha
בּ֣וֹ יִפּ֑וֹל [1] Etnachta
 
וּפֹרֵ֥ץ גָּדֵ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
יִשְּׁכֶ֥נּוּ נָחָֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 8 One who digs a pit, [2]
into it he falls; [1]
 
and one who breaks through a wall, [2]
a snake bites him. [1]
9 מַסִּ֣יעַ אֲבָנִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
יֵעָצֵ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
בָּהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
בּוֹקֵ֥עַ עֵצִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
יִסָּ֥כֶן בָּֽם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 9 One who quarries stones, [2]
he is hurt [2]
by them; [1]
 
one who splits logs, [2]
he is endangered by them. [1]
10 אִם־קֵהָ֣ה הַבַּרְזֶ֗ל [3] Revi'i
וְהוּא֙ [3] Pashta
לֹא־פָנִ֣ים קִלְקַ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
וַחֲיָלִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
יְגַבֵּ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
וְיִתְר֥וֹן הַכְשֵׁ֖יר [2] Tip'cha
חׇכְמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 3 2 2 10 If the iron axe is blunt, [3]
and he, [3]
he doesn't sharpen the edge, [2]
 
then strength [2]
he will increase; [1]
 
but profitable to bringing success, [2]
is wisdom. [1]
11 אִם־יִשֹּׁ֥ךְ הַנָּחָ֖שׁ [2] Tip'cha
בְּלוֹא־לָ֑חַשׁ [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֵ֣ין יִתְר֔וֹן [2] Zaqef
לְבַ֖עַל [2] Tip'cha
הַלָּשֽׁוֹן׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 11 If the snake bites [2]
before it is charmed; [1]
 
then is there no profit [2]
for the master [2]
of the tongue. [1]
12 דִּבְרֵ֥י פִי־חָכָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
חֵ֑ן [1] Etnachta
 
וְשִׂפְת֥וֹת כְּסִ֖יל [2] Tip'cha
תְּבַלְּעֶֽנּוּ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 12 The words of the mouth of the wise [2]
are gracious; [1]
 
but the lips of a fool [2]
will swallow him up. [1]
13 תְּחִלַּ֥ת דִּבְרֵי־פִ֖יהוּ [2] Tip'cha
סִכְל֑וּת [1] Etnachta
 
וְאַחֲרִ֣ית פִּ֔יהוּ [2] Zaqef
הוֹלֵל֖וּת [2] Tip'cha
רָעָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

is folly; [1]
 
and the end of his talk [2]
is madness, [2]
evil. [1]
14 וְהַסָּכָ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
יַרְבֶּ֣ה דְבָרִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
לֹא־יֵדַ֤ע הָאָדָם֙ [3] Pashta
מַה־שֶּׁיִּֽהְיֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר יִֽהְיֶה֙ [3] Pashta
מֵֽאַחֲרָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
מִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
יַגִּ֥יד לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 3 2 14 And the fool, [2]
he multiplies words; [1]
 
man doesn’t know [3]
what will be, [2]
 
and that which will be [3]
after him, [2]
 
who [2]
can tell him? [1]
15 עֲמַ֥ל הַכְּסִילִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
תְּיַגְּעֶ֑נּוּ [1] Etnachta
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־יָדַ֖ע [2] Tip'cha
לָלֶ֥כֶת אֶל־עִֽיר׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 15 The labor of the fool, [2]
it wearies him; [1]
 
for he doesn’t know [2]
how to go to the city. [1]
16 אִֽי־לָ֣ךְ אֶ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef
שֶׁמַּלְכֵּ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha
נָ֑עַר [1] Etnachta
 
וְשָׂרַ֖יִךְ [2] Tip'cha
בַּבֹּ֥קֶר יֹאכֵֽלוּ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 16 Woe to you O land, [2]
when your king [2]
is a child; [1]
 
and your princes, [2]
in the morning they feast. [1]
17 אַשְׁרֵ֣יךְ אֶ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef
שֶׁמַּלְכֵּ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha
בֶּן־חוֹרִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וְשָׂרַ֙יִךְ֙ [3 3] Pashta
בָּעֵ֣ת יֹאכֵ֔לוּ [2] Zaqef
 
בִּגְבוּרָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וְלֹ֥א בַשְּׁתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

when your king [2]
is a son of nobles; [1]
 
and your princes, [3 3]
at the proper time they feast, [2]
 
for strength, [2]
and not for drunkenness. [1]
18 בַּעֲצַלְתַּ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha
יִמַּ֣ךְ הַמְּקָרֶ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וּבְשִׁפְל֥וּת יָדַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha
יִדְלֹ֥ף הַבָּֽיִת׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 18 In laziness [2]
the rafters sag; [1]
 
and in idleness of hands [2]
the house leaks. [1]
19 לִשְׂחוֹק֙ [3] Pashta
עֹשִׂ֣ים לֶ֔חֶם [2] Zaqef
 
וְיַ֖יִן [2] Tip'cha
יְשַׂמַּ֣ח חַיִּ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וְהַכֶּ֖סֶף [2] Tip'cha
יַעֲנֶ֥ה אֶת־הַכֹּֽל׃ [1] Silluq

a feast is made, [2]
 
and wine, [2]
it makes life glad; [1]
 
but money, [2]
it answers everything. [1]
20 גַּ֣ם בְּמַדָּֽעֲךָ֗ [3] Revi'i
מֶ֚לֶךְ [3] Yetiv
אַל־תְּקַלֵּ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
וּבְחַדְרֵי֙ [3] Pashta
מִשְׁכָּ֣בְךָ֔ [2] Zaqef
 
אַל־תְּקַלֵּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
עָשִׁ֑יר [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֣י ע֤וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ [3 3] Pashta
יוֹלִ֣יךְ אֶת־הַקּ֔וֹל [2] Zaqef
 
וּבַ֥עַל *הכנפים **כְּנָפַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha
יַגֵּ֥יד דָּבָֽר׃ [1] Silluq

a king [3]
do not curse, [2]
 
and in the chamber [3]
of your bed [2]
 
do not curse [2]
the rich; [1]
 
for a bird of the heavens, [3 3]
it may carry the sound, [2]
 
and one with wings, [2]
it may tell the matter. [1]
