1 Dead flies [2] make it stink and ferment, [2] the oil of the perfumer; [1] more than wisdom, more than honor, [2] is a little folly. [1] |

2 The heart of the wise [3] is to his right, [2] is to his left. [1] |

3 Even along the way [3] as the fool walks, [2] his heart lacks sense; [1] that he is a fool. [1] |

4 If the spirit of the ruler [3] rises up against you, [2] do not leave; [1] it will lay to rest [2] great offenses. [1] |

6 Fools are placed [2] in high positions, [2] many; [1] they sit in low places. [1] |

7 I have seen slaves [2] on horses; [1] walking as slaves [2] on the ground. [1] |

8 One who digs a pit, [2] into it he falls; [1] a snake bites him. [1] |

9 One who quarries stones, [2] he is hurt [2] by them; [1] he is endangered by them. [1] |

10 אִם־קֵהָ֣ה הַבַּרְזֶ֗ל [3] Revi'i וְהוּא֙ [3] Pashta לֹא־פָנִ֣ים קִלְקַ֔ל [2] Zaqef יְגַבֵּ֑ר [1] Etnachta חׇכְמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
10 If the iron axe is blunt, [3] and he, [3] he doesn't sharpen the edge, [2] he will increase; [1] is wisdom. [1] |

11 If the snake bites [2] before it is charmed; [1] for the master [2] of the tongue. [1] |

12 The words of the mouth of the wise [2] are gracious; [1] will swallow him up. [1] |

13 The beginning of the words of his mouth [2] is folly; [1] is madness, [2] evil. [1] |

14 And the fool, [2] he multiplies words; [1] what will be, [2] after him, [2] can tell him? [1] |

15 The labor of the fool, [2] it wearies him; [1] how to go to the city. [1] |

16 Woe to you O land, [2] when your king [2] is a child; [1] in the morning they feast. [1] |

17 How blessed are you O land, [2] when your king [2] is a son of nobles; [1] at the proper time they feast, [2] and not for drunkenness. [1] |

18 In laziness [2] the rafters sag; [1] the house leaks. [1] |

19 For laughter [3] a feast is made, [2] it makes life glad; [1] it answers everything. [1] |

20 גַּ֣ם בְּמַדָּֽעֲךָ֗ [3] Revi'i מֶ֚לֶךְ [3] Yetiv אַל־תְּקַלֵּ֔ל [2] Zaqef מִשְׁכָּ֣בְךָ֔ [2] Zaqef עָשִׁ֑יר [1] Etnachta יוֹלִ֣יךְ אֶת־הַקּ֔וֹל [2] Zaqef יַגֵּ֥יד דָּבָֽר׃ [1] Silluq |
20 Even in your thoughts, [3] a king [3] do not curse, [2] of your bed [2] the rich; [1] it may carry the sound, [2] it may tell the matter. [1] |
