קהלת 5 Ecclesiastes 5
1 אַל־תְּבַהֵ֨ל עַל־פִּ֜יךָ [4] Geresh
וְלִבְּךָ֧ אַל־יְמַהֵ֛ר [3] Tevir
לְהוֹצִ֥יא דָבָ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
לִפְנֵ֣י הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים [1] Etnachta

כִּ֣י הָאֱלֹהִ֤ים בַּשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ [3 3] Pashta
וְאַתָּ֣ה עַל־הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef

עַל־כֵּ֛ן [3] Tevir
יִהְי֥וּ דְבָרֶ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha
מְעַטִּֽים׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 2 3 2 3 2 Do not be rash with your mouth, [4]
and do not let your heart be hasty [3]
to utter a word [2]
before God; [1]

for God is in the heavens, [3 3]
and you on the earth, [2]

therefore [3]
let your words [2]
be few. [1]
2 כִּ֛י [3] Tevir
בָּ֥א הַחֲל֖וֹם [2] Tip'cha
בְּרֹ֣ב עִנְיָ֑ן [1] Etnachta

וְק֥וֹל כְּסִ֖יל [2] Tip'cha
בְּרֹ֥ב דְּבָרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 For [3]
a dream comes [2]
with a multitude of busyness; [1]

and the voice of a fool [2]
with a multitude of words. [1]
3 כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ תִּדֹּ֨ר נֶ֜דֶר [4] Geresh
לֵֽאלֹהִ֗ים [3] Revi'i

אַל־תְּאַחֵר֙ [3] Pashta
לְשַׁלְּמ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef

כִּ֛י [3] Tevir
אֵ֥ין חֵ֖פֶץ [2] Tip'cha
בַּכְּסִילִ֑ים [1] Etnachta

אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר־תִּדֹּ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
שַׁלֵּֽם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 3 2 3 2 4 When you vow a vow [4]
to God, [3]

do not delay [3]
to pay it, [2]

for [3]
there is no pleasure [2]
in fools; [1]

that which you vow, [2]
pay. [1]
4 ט֖וֹב [2] Tip'cha
אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא־תִדֹּ֑ר [1] Etnachta

מִשֶּׁתִּדּ֖וֹר [2] Tip'cha
וְלֹ֥א תְשַׁלֵּֽם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 5 Better [2]
that you do not vow; [1]

than that you vow [2]
and you do not pay. [1]
5 אַל־תִּתֵּ֤ן אֶת־פִּ֙יךָ֙ [3 3] Pashta
לַחֲטִ֣יא אֶת־בְּשָׂרֶ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef

וְאַל־תֹּאמַר֙ [3] Pashta
לִפְנֵ֣י הַמַּלְאָ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef

כִּ֥י שְׁגָגָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
הִ֑יא [1] Etnachta

לָ֣מָּה יִקְצֹ֤ף הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ [3] Pashta
עַל־קוֹלֶ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef

וְחִבֵּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה יָדֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 2 2 3 2 6 Do not let your mouth [3 3]
lead your flesh to sin, [2]

and do not protest [3]
before the messenger [2]

that a mistake [2]
it was; [1]

why should God be angry [3]
at your voice, [2]

and he destroy [2]
the work of your hands? [1]
6 כִּ֣י בְרֹ֤ב חֲלֹמוֹת֙ [3] Pashta
וַהֲבָלִ֔ים [2] Zaqef

וּדְבָרִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
הַרְבֵּ֑ה [1] Etnachta

כִּ֥י אֶת־הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
יְרָֽא׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 7 For in a multitude of dreams [3]
there are vanities, [2]

and in words [2]
many; [1]

but God [2]
you must fear. [1]
7 אִם־עֹ֣שֶׁק רָ֠שׁ [4] TelishaG
וְגֵ֨זֶל מִשְׁפָּ֤ט וָצֶ֙דֶק֙ [3 3] Pashta
תִּרְאֶ֣ה בַמְּדִינָ֔ה [2] Zaqef

אַל־תִּתְמַ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
עַל־הַחֵ֑פֶץ [1] Etnachta

כִּ֣י גָבֹ֜הַּ [4] Geresh
מֵעַ֤ל גָּבֹ֙הַּ֙ [3 3] Pashta
שֹׁמֵ֔ר [2] Zaqef

וּגְבֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 2 2 3 4 2 8 If oppression of the poor [4]
and perversion of justice and righteousness [3 3]
you see in the province, [2]

do not be shocked [2]
at the matter; [1]

for one authority [4]
over another authority [3 3]
is watching, [2]

and authorities [2]
are over them, [1]
8 וְיִתְר֥וֹן אֶ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha
בַּכֹּ֣ל *היא **ה֑וּא [1] Etnachta

מֶ֥לֶךְ לְשָׂדֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
נֶעֱבָֽד׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 9 and the increase of a land, [2]
on everyone it is; [1]

a king, by the field [2]
he is served. [1]
9 אֹהֵ֥ב כֶּ֙סֶף֙ [3 3] Pashta
לֹא־יִשְׂבַּ֣ע כֶּ֔סֶף [2] Zaqef

וּמִֽי־אֹהֵ֥ב בֶּהָמ֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֣א תְבוּאָ֑ה [1] Etnachta

גַּם־זֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
הָֽבֶל׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 10 One who loves silver [3 3]
shall not be satisfied with silver, [2]

and whoever loves wealth, [2]
not with increase; [1]

this too [2]
is futility. [1]
10 בִּרְבוֹת֙ [3] Pashta
הַטּוֹבָ֔ה [2] Zaqef

רַבּ֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
אוֹכְלֶ֑יהָ [1] Etnachta

וּמַה־כִּשְׁרוֹן֙ [3] Pashta
לִבְעָלֶ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef

כִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
אִם־*ראית **רְא֥וּת עֵינָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 3 2 11 When increases [3]
the good, [2]

they increase [2]
those who consume it; [1]

so what is the profit [3]
to its owner [2]

but [2]
to see it with his eyes? [1]
11 מְתוּקָה֙ [3] Pashta
שְׁנַ֣ת הָעֹבֵ֔ד [2] Zaqef

אִם־מְעַ֥ט וְאִם־הַרְבֵּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
יֹאכֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta

וְהַשָּׂבָע֙ [3] Pashta
לֶֽעָשִׁ֔יר [2] Zaqef

אֵינֶ֛נּוּ [3] Tevir
מַנִּ֥יחַֽ ל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
לִישֽׁוֹן׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 3 2 3 12 Sweet [3]
is the sleep of the laborer [2]

whether little or much [2]
he eats; [1]

but the abundance [3]
of the rich, [2]

it does not [3]
allow him [2]
to sleep. [1]
12 יֵ֚שׁ [3] Yetiv
רָעָ֣ה חוֹלָ֔ה [2] Zaqef

רָאִ֖יתִי [2] Tip'cha
תַּ֣חַת הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ [1] Etnachta

עֹ֛שֶׁר [3] Tevir
שָׁמ֥וּר לִבְעָלָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
לְרָעָתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 3 13 There is [3]
a grievous evil [2]

which I have seen [2]
under the sun; [1]

wealth [3]
kept by its owner [2]
to his harm. [1]
13 וְאָבַ֛ד [3] Tevir
הָעֹ֥שֶׁר הַה֖וּא [2] Tip'cha
בְּעִנְיַ֣ן רָ֑ע [1] Etnachta

וְהוֹלִ֣יד בֵּ֔ן [2] Zaqef
וְאֵ֥ין בְּיָד֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
מְאֽוּמָה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 14 And it was lost, [3]
that wealth, [2]
by misfortune; [1]

and when he has fathered a son, [2]
not in his hand [2]
is anything. [1]
14 כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר יָצָא֙ [3] Pashta
מִבֶּ֣טֶן אִמּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef

עָר֛וֹם [3] Tevir
יָשׁ֥וּב לָלֶ֖כֶת [2] Tip'cha
כְּשֶׁבָּ֑א [1] Etnachta

וּמְא֙וּמָה֙ [3 3] Pashta
לֹא־יִשָּׂ֣א בַעֲמָל֔וֹ [2] Zaqef

שֶׁיֹּלֵ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha
בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 2 3 2 15 Just as he came out [3]
from the womb of his mother, [2]

naked [3]
shall he return [2]
just as he came; [1]

and anything [3 3]
he shall not take for his labor [2]

which he may carry away [2]
in his hand. [1]
15 וְגַם־זֹה֙ [3] Pashta
רָעָ֣ה חוֹלָ֔ה [2] Zaqef

כׇּל־עֻמַּ֥ת שֶׁבָּ֖א [2] Tip'cha
כֵּ֣ן יֵלֵ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta

וּמַה־יִּתְר֣וֹן ל֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
שֶֽׁיַּעֲמֹ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
לָרֽוּחַ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 2 16 And this too [3]
is a grievous evil, [2]

that exactly as he came, [2]
so shall he go; [1]

so what profit does he have, [2]
who has labored [2]
for the wind? [1]
16 גַּ֥ם כׇּל־יָמָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
בַּחֹ֣שֶׁךְ יֹאכֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta

וְכָעַ֥ס הַרְבֵּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וְחׇלְי֥וֹ וָקָֽצֶף׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 17 So all his days [2]
in darkness he eats; [1]

and he is troubled greatly [2]
with his sickness and anger. [1]
17 הִנֵּ֞ה [4] Gershayim
אֲשֶׁר־רָאִ֣יתִי אָ֗נִי [3] Revi'i

[3] Revi'i

מִסְפַּ֧ר יְמֵי־חַיָּ֛ו [3] Tevir
אֲשֶׁר־נָֽתַן־ל֥וֹ הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha

כִּי־ה֥וּא חֶלְקֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 4 4 4 3 18 Behold [4]
what I, I have seen - [3]

what is good and fitting is to eat and to drink, [4 4]
and to find enjoyment [4]
in all his labor [4]
that one labors under the sun, [3]

the numbered days of his life [3]
that God has given him, [2]

for that is his portion. [1]
18 גַּ֣ם כׇּֽל־הָאָדָ֡ם [4] Pazer
אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָֽתַן־ל֣וֹ הָאֱלֹהִים֩ עֹ֨שֶׁר וּנְכָסִ֜ים [4] Geresh

בַּעֲמָל֑וֹ [1] Etnachta

זֹ֕ה [2] ZaqefG

to whom God has given wealth and riches [4]
and he has empowered him to eat from it, [3 3]
and to receive his portion, [2]

and to rejoice [2]
in his labor; [1]

this, [2]
a gift of God [2]
it is. [1]
19 כִּ֚י [3] Yetiv

1 2 3 2 2 3 20 For [3]
not often [2]

shall he consider [2]
the days of his life; [1]

for God [3]
keeps (him) occupied [2]
with the joy of his heart. [1]
