	¹יֵ֣שׁ רָעָ֔ה [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֥ר רָאִ֖יתִי [2] Tip'cha תַּ֣חַת הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ [1] Etnachta וְרַבָּ֥ה הִ֖יא [2] Tip'cha עַל־הָאָדָֽם׃ [1] Silluq		¹There is a misery [2] which I have seen [2] under the sun; [1] and it is heavy [2] on mankind, [1]
	²אִ֣ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִתֶּן־ל֣וֹ הָאֱלֹהִ֡ים [4] Pazer עֹ֩שֶׁר֩ וּנְכָסִ֨ים וְכָב֜וֹד [4] Geresh וְֽאֵינֶ֨נּוּ חָסֵ֥ר לְנַפְשׁ֣וֹ ׀ [4] Legarmeh מִכֹּ֣ל אֲשֶׁר־יִתְאַוֶּ֗ה [3] Revi'i וְלֹֽא־יַשְׁלִיטֶ֤נּוּ הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ [3] Pashta לֶאֱכֹ֣ל מִמֶּ֔נּוּ [2] Zaqef כִּ֛י [3] Tevir אִ֥ישׁ נׇכְרִ֖י [2] Tip'cha יֹֽאכְלֶ֑נּוּ [1] Etnachta זֶ֥ה הֶ֛בֶל [3] Tevir וׇחֳלִ֥י רָ֖ע [2] Tip'cha הֽוּא׃ [1] Silluq		²a man to whom God gives [4] wealth and riches and honor, [4] so that he lacks nothing for his soul [4] of all that he desires, [3] yet God doesn't enable him [3] to eat from it, [2] but [3] a foreigner, [2] he eats it; [1] this is futility [3] and a grievous evil [2] it is. [1]
	³אִם־יוֹלִ֣יד אִ֣ישׁ מֵאָ֡ה [4] Pazer וְשָׁנִים֩ רַבּ֨וֹת יִֽחְיֶ֜ה [4] Geresh וְרַ֣ב ׀ [4] Legarmeh שֶׁיִּהְי֣וּ יְמֵֽי־שָׁנָ֗יו [3] Revi'i וְנַפְשׁוֹ֙ [3] Pashta לֹא־תִשְׂבַּ֣ע מִן־הַטּוֹבָ֔ה [2] Zaqef וְגַם־קְבוּרָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לֹא־הָ֣יְתָה לּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta אָמַ֕רְתִּי [2] ZaqefG ט֥וֹב מִמֶּ֖נּוּ [2] Tip'cha הַנָּֽפֶל׃ [1] Silluq		³If a man should father a hundred children [4] and live many years, [4] so that many [4] are the days of his years, [3] yet his soul [3] is not satisfied from the goodness, [2] and then burial, [2] he has none; [1] I say, [2] better off than he [2] is a stillborn child, [1]
	⁴כִּֽי־בַהֶ֥בֶל בָּ֖א [2] Tip'cha וּבַחֹ֣שֶׁךְ יֵלֵ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta וּבַחֹ֖שֶׁךְ [2] Tip'cha שְׁמ֥וֹ יְכֻסֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq		⁴for in futility it comes, [2] and in darkness it departs; [1] and in darkness [2] its name is covered. [1]
	⁵גַּם־שֶׁ֥מֶשׁ לֹא־רָאָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha וְלֹ֣א יָדָ֑ע [1] Etnachta נַ֥חַת לָזֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha מִזֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq		⁵Though the sun it has not seen [2] and it did not know; [1] this one has rest [2] more than the other. [1]
	⁶וְאִלּ֣וּ חָיָ֗ה [3] Revi'i אֶ֤לֶף שָׁנִים֙ [3] Pashta פַּעֲמַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef וְטוֹבָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לֹ֣א רָאָ֑ה [1] Etnachta הֲלֹ֛א [3] Tevir אֶל־מָק֥וֹם אֶחָ֖ד [2] Tip'cha הַכֹּ֥ל הוֹלֵֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq		⁶Even if he lived [3] a thousand years [3] twice, [2] yet good [2] he fails to enjoy; [1] do not [3] to the same place [2] all go? [1]
	⁷כׇּל־עֲמַ֥ל הָאָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha לְפִ֑יהוּ [1] Etnachta וְגַם־הַנֶּ֖פֶשׁ [2] Tip'cha לֹ֥א תִמָּלֵֽא׃ [1] Silluq		⁷All the labor of mankind [2] is for his mouth; [1] and yet the appetite, [2] it is not satisfied. [1]
	⁸כִּ֛י [3] Tevir מַה־יּוֹתֵ֥ר לֶחָכָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha מִֽן־הַכְּסִ֑יל [1] Etnachta מַה־לֶּעָנִ֣י יוֹדֵ֔עַ [2] Zaqef לַהֲלֹ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha נֶ֥גֶד הַחַיִּֽים׃ [1] Silluq		⁸For [3] what advantage does the wise have [2] over the fool? [1] What does the poor gain by knowing [2] how to walk [2] before the living? [1]
	⁹ט֛וֹב [3] Tevir מַרְאֵ֥ה עֵינַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha מֵֽהֲלׇךְ־נָ֑פֶשׁ [1] Etnachta גַּם־זֶ֥ה הֶ֖בֶל [2] Tip'cha וּרְע֥וּת רֽוּחַ׃ [1] Silluq		⁹Better [3] is what the eyes see [2] than the wandering of desire; [1] this too is futility [2] and a striving after wind. [1]
	¹⁰מַה־שֶּֽׁהָיָ֗ה [3] Revi'i כְּבָר֙ [3] Pashta נִקְרָ֣א שְׁמ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef וְנוֹדָ֖ע [2] Tip'cha אֲשֶׁר־ה֣וּא אָדָ֑ם [1] Etnachta וְלֹא־יוּכַ֣ל לָדִ֔ין [2] Zaqef עִ֥ם שהתקיף *שֶׁתַּקִּ֖יף [2] Tip'cha מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁰Whatever has come to be, [3] already [3] it has been named [2] and is known [2] what mankind is; [1] but he cannot contend [2] with one who is mightier [2] than he. [1]
	¹¹כִּ֛י [3] Tevir יֵשׁ־דְּבָרִ֥ים הַרְבֵּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha מַרְבִּ֣ים הָ֑בֶל [1] Etnachta מַה־יֹּתֵ֖ר [2] Tip'cha לָאָדָֽם׃ [1] Silluq		¹¹When [3] there are many words, [2] futility increases; [1] what advantage [2] does a man have? [1]
	¹²כִּ֣י מִֽי־יוֹדֵ֩עַ֩ מַה־טּ֨וֹב לָֽאָדָ֜ם [4] Geresh בַּֽחַיִּ֗ים [3] Revi'i מִסְפַּ֛ר [3] Tevir יְמֵי־חַיֵּ֥י הֶבְל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha וְיַעֲשֵׂ֣ם כַּצֵּ֑ל [1] Etnachta אֲשֶׁר֙ [3] Pashta מִֽי־יַגִּ֣יד לָֽאָדָ֔ם [2] Zaqef מַה־יִּהְיֶ֥ה אַחֲרָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha תַּ֥חַת הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃ [1] Silluq		¹²For who knows what is good for a man [4] in life, [3] the few [3] days of his fleeting life, [2] that he passes through like a shadow? [1] For [3] who can tell a man [2] what will be after him [2] under the sun? [1]
