1 וְשַׁ֣בְתִּֽי אֲנִ֗י [3] Revi'i וָאֶרְאֶה֙ [3] Pashta אֶת־כׇּל־הָ֣עֲשֻׁקִ֔ים [2] Zaqef תַּ֣חַת הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ [1] Etnachta דִּמְעַ֣ת הָעֲשֻׁקִ֗ים [3] Revi'i מְנַחֵ֔ם [2] Zaqef כֹּ֔חַ [2] Zaqef מְנַחֵֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
1 Then I, I looked again [3] and I saw [3] all the oppressions [2] under the sun; [1] the tears of the oppressed, [3] comforter, [2] is power, [2] comforter. [1] |

2 וְשַׁבֵּ֧חַ אֲנִ֛י [3] Tevir אֶת־הַמֵּתִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha שֶׁכְּבָ֣ר מֵ֑תוּ [1] Etnachta הֵ֥מָּה חַיִּ֖ים [2] Tip'cha עֲדֶֽנָה׃ [1] Silluq |
2 So I, I considered fortunate [3] the dead [2] who have already died; [1] are alive [2] still. [1] |

3 וְטוֹב֙ [3] Pashta מִשְּׁנֵיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef לֹ֣א הָיָ֑ה [1] Etnachta אֶת־הַמַּעֲשֶׂ֣ה הָרָ֔ע [2] Zaqef תַּ֥חַת הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃ [1] Silluq |
3 Yet better [3] than both of them [2] has not been; [1] the evil work [2] under the sun. [1] |

4 וְרָאִ֨יתִֽי אֲנִ֜י [4] Geresh אֶת־כׇּל־עָמָ֗ל [3] Revi'i כׇּל־כִּשְׁר֣וֹן הַֽמַּעֲשֶׂ֔ה [2] Zaqef הִ֥יא קִנְאַת־אִ֖ישׁ [2] Tip'cha מֵרֵעֵ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta וּרְע֥וּת רֽוּחַ׃ [1] Silluq |
4 Then I, I saw [4] all the labor [3] all the skillful work, [2] everyone's envy it is [2] of his neighbor; [1] and striving after the wind. [1] |

5 The fool [3] folds his hands, [2] his own flesh. [1] |

6 ט֕וֹב [2] ZaqefG מְלֹ֥א כַ֖ף [2] Tip'cha נָ֑חַת [1] Etnachta עָמָ֖ל [2] Tip'cha וּרְע֥וּת רֽוּחַ׃ [1] Silluq |
6 Better [2] is a handful [2] with tranquility; [1] with toil, [2] and striving after wind. [1] |

7 Then I, I looked again [3] and I saw futility [2] under the sun. [1] |

8 יֵ֣שׁ אֶחָד֩ וְאֵ֨ין שֵׁנִ֜י [4] Geresh גַּ֣ם בֵּ֧ן וָאָ֣ח אֵֽין־ל֗וֹ [3] Revi'i לְכׇל־עֲמָל֔וֹ [2] Zaqef לֹא־תִשְׂבַּ֣ע עֹ֑שֶׁר [1] Etnachta אֲנִ֣י עָמֵ֗ל [3] Revi'i מִטּוֹבָ֔ה [2] Zaqef וְעִנְיַ֥ן רָ֖ע [2] Tip'cha הֽוּא׃ [1] Silluq |
8 There is one who has no one else, [4] no son and no brother he has, [3] to all his toil, [2] is not content with riches; [1] am I toiling, [3] of prosperity?” [2] and a grievous task [2] it is. [1] |

9 טוֹבִ֥ים הַשְּׁנַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha מִן־הָאֶחָ֑ד [1] Etnachta שָׂכָ֥ר ט֖וֹב [2] Tip'cha בַּעֲמָלָֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
9 Two are better [2] than one; [1] a good reward [2] for their labor. [1] |

10 כִּ֣י אִם־יִפֹּ֔לוּ [2] Zaqef הָאֶחָ֖ד [2] Tip'cha יָקִ֣ים אֶת־חֲבֵר֑וֹ [1] Etnachta הָֽאֶחָד֙ [3] Pashta שֶׁיִּפּ֔וֹל [2] Zaqef לַהֲקִימֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
10 For if they fall - [2] the one, [2] he will lift up his companion; [1] who alone [3] he falls down, [2] to lift him up. [1] |

11 גַּ֛ם [3] Tevir אִם־יִשְׁכְּב֥וּ שְׁנַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha וְחַ֣ם לָהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta אֵ֥יךְ יֵחָֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
11 Also [3] if two lie down together [2] then warmth they will have; [1] how will he be warm? [1] |

12 וְאִֽם־יִתְקְפוֹ֙ [3] Pashta הָאֶחָ֔ד [2] Zaqef יַעַמְד֣וּ נֶגְדּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta הַֽמְשֻׁלָּ֔שׁ [2] Zaqef יִנָּתֵֽק׃ [1] Silluq |
12 And though a person might overpower him, [3] one who is alone, [2] they can stand against him; [1] that is threefold, [2] can it be broken. [1] |

13 ט֛וֹב [3] Tevir יֶ֥לֶד מִסְכֵּ֖ן [2] Tip'cha וְחָכָ֑ם [1] Etnachta וּכְסִ֔יל [2] Zaqef לֹא־יָדַ֥ע לְהִזָּהֵ֖ר [2] Tip'cha עֽוֹד׃ [1] Silluq |
13 Better [3] is a youth who is poor [2] and wise; [1] and foolish, [2] doesn't know how to take warning [2] anymore. [1] |

14 כִּֽי־מִבֵּ֥ית הָסוּרִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha יָצָ֣א לִמְלֹ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta גַּ֥ם בְּמַלְכוּת֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha נוֹלַ֥ד רָֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq |
14 For from prison [2] he came out to become king; [1] also in his own kingdom [2] he had been born poor. [1] |

15 I saw [3 3] all the living [2] under the sun; [1] the second youth [2] in his place. [1] |

16 There was no end to all the people, [3] to all whom he was [3] before them, [2] they shall not rejoice in him. [1] and a striving after the wind. [1] |

17 שְׁמֹ֣ר *רגליך **רַגְלְךָ֗ [3] Revi'i כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר תֵּלֵךְ֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־בֵּ֣ית הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef מִתֵּ֥ת הַכְּסִילִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha זָ֑בַח [1] Etnachta לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת רָֽע׃ [1] Silluq |
1 Watch your step [3] when you go [3] to the house of God, [2] rather than the offering of fools [2] of a sacrifice; [1] (whether they) do evil. [1] |
