1 וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq
2 1 And the LORD spoke [2]
to Moses saying, [1]
2 קַדֶּשׁ־לִ֨י כׇל־בְּכ֜וֹר [4] Geresh
פֶּ֤טֶר כׇּל־רֶ֙חֶם֙ [3 3] Pashta
בִּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
בָּאָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
וּבַבְּהֵמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
לִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
הֽוּא׃ [1] Silluq

כִּ֚י [3] Yetiv
בְּחֹ֣זֶק יָ֔ד [2] Zaqef
 
הוֹצִ֧יא יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Tevir
אֶתְכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
מִזֶּ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וְלֹ֥א יֵאָכֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
חָמֵֽץ׃ [1] Silluq

and it shall not be eaten, [2]
leaven. [1]

אֲשֶׁ֨ר נִשְׁבַּ֤ע לַאֲבֹתֶ֙יךָ֙ [3 3] Pashta
לָ֣תֶת לָ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef
 
אֶ֛רֶץ [3] Tevir
זָבַ֥ת חָלָ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
וּדְבָ֑שׁ [1] Etnachta
 
וְעָבַדְתָּ֛ [3] Tevir
אֶת־הָעֲבֹדָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את [2] Tip'cha
בַּחֹ֥דֶשׁ הַזֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq

and the Hittite and the Amorite [4]
and the Hivite and the Jebusite [3]
 
which he swore to your fathers [3 3]

flowing with milk [2]
and honey; [1]
 
that you shall observe [3]
this ceremony [2]
in this month. [1]
6 שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
תֹּאכַ֣ל מַצֹּ֑ת [1] Etnachta
 
וּבַיּוֹם֙ [3] Pashta
הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
חַ֖ג [2] Tip'cha
לַיהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

you shall eat unleavened bread; [1]
 
and on day [3]
the seventh [2]
 
shall be a feast [2]
to the LORD. [1]
7 מַצּוֹת֙ [3] Pashta
יֵֽאָכֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
אֵ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
שִׁבְעַ֣ת הַיָּמִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וְלֹֽא־יֵרָאֶ֨ה לְךָ֜ [4] Geresh
חָמֵ֗ץ [3] Revi'i
 
וְלֹֽא־יֵרָאֶ֥ה לְךָ֛ [3] Tevir
שְׂאֹ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
 
בְּכׇל־גְּבֻלֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq

and it shall not be seen with you, [4]
leaven, [3]
 
and it shall not be seen with you, [3]
yeast, [2]

8 וְהִגַּדְתָּ֣ לְבִנְךָ֔ [2] Zaqef
בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
בַּעֲב֣וּר זֶ֗ה [3] Revi'i
עָשָׂ֤ה יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta
לִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
בְּצֵאתִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq

on that day [2]
saying; [1]
 
‘It is because of what [3]
the LORD did [3]
for me [2]
 
when I came out [2]
from Egypt.’ [1]
9 וְהָיָה֩ לְךָ֨ לְא֜וֹת [4] Geresh
עַל־יָדְךָ֗ [3] Revi'i
 
וּלְזִכָּרוֹן֙ [3] Pashta
בֵּ֣ין עֵינֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
לְמַ֗עַן [3] Revi'i
תִּהְיֶ֛ה [3] Tevir
תּוֹרַ֥ת יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בְּפִ֑יךָ [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֚י [3] Yetiv
בְּיָ֣ד חֲזָקָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
הוֹצִֽאֲךָ֥ יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq

on your hand, [3]
 
and a reminder [3]
between your eyes, [2]
 
so that [3]
it may be, [3]
the law of the LORD, [2]
in your mouth; [1]

by a strong hand [2]
 
the LORD has brought you out [2]
from Egypt. [1]
10 וְשָׁמַרְתָּ֛ [3] Tevir
אֶת־הַחֻקָּ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את [2] Tip'cha
לְמוֹעֲדָ֑הּ [1] Etnachta
 
מִיָּמִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
יָמִֽימָה׃ [1] Silluq

this ordinance [2]
at its appointed time; [1]
 
from days [2]
to days. [1]
11 וְהָיָ֞ה [4] Gershayim
כִּֽי־יְבִאֲךָ֤ יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר [3] Tevir
נִשְׁבַּ֥ע לְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
וְלַֽאֲבֹתֶ֑יךָ [1] Etnachta
 
וּנְתָנָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
לָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq

12 וְהַעֲבַרְתָּ֥ כׇל־פֶּֽטֶר־רֶ֖חֶם [2] Tip'cha

וְכׇל־פֶּ֣טֶר ׀ [4] Legarmeh
שֶׁ֣גֶר בְּהֵמָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
 
אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִהְיֶ֥ה לְךָ֛ [3] Tevir
הַזְּכָרִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
 
לַיהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 4 3 12 that you shall set apart every firstborn of the womb [2]
to the LORD; [1]
 
and every firstborn [4]
of the offspring of an animal [3]
 
which belongs to you, [3]
the males, [2]
 
shall be the LORD’s. [1]
13 וְכׇל־פֶּ֤טֶר חֲמֹר֙ [3] Pashta
תִּפְדֶּ֣ה בְשֶׂ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְאִם־לֹ֥א תִפְדֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וַעֲרַפְתּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וְכֹ֨ל בְּכ֥וֹר אָדָ֛ם [3] Tevir
בְּבָנֶ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha
תִּפְדֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 3 13 And every firstborn of a donkey [3]
you shall redeem with a lamb, [2]
 
and if you do not redeem it [2]
you shall break its neck; [1]
 
but every firstborn of man [3]
among your sons, [2]
you shall redeem. [1]
14 וְהָיָ֞ה [4] Gershayim
כִּֽי־יִשְׁאָלְךָ֥ בִנְךָ֛ [3] Tevir
מָחָ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹ֣ר מַה־זֹּ֑את [1] Etnachta
 
וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֵלָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
בְּחֹ֣זֶק יָ֗ד [3] Revi'i
הוֹצִיאָ֧נוּ יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Tevir
מִמִּצְרַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha
מִבֵּ֥ית עֲבָדִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

when your son asks you [3]
in times to come, [2]
saying ‘What is this?’ [1]
 
that you shall tell him, [2]
 
‘By a strong hand [3]
the LORD brought us out [3]
from Egypt, [2]
from a house of bondage, [1]
15 וַיְהִ֗י [3] Revi'i
כִּֽי־הִקְשָׁ֣ה פַרְעֹה֮ [3] Zarqa
לְשַׁלְּחֵ֒נוּ֒ [2 2] Segol
 
וַיַּהֲרֹ֨ג יְהֹוָ֤ה כׇּל־בְּכוֹר֙ [3] Pashta
בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
מִבְּכֹ֥ר אָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
וְעַד־בְּכ֣וֹר בְּהֵמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
עַל־כֵּן֩ אֲנִ֨י זֹבֵ֜חַ [4] Geresh
לַֽיהֹוָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
 
כׇּל־פֶּ֤טֶר רֶ֙חֶם֙ [3 3] Pashta
הַזְּכָרִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וְכׇל־בְּכ֥וֹר בָּנַ֖י [2] Tip'cha
אֶפְדֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq

when Pharaoh stubbornly refused [3]
to let us go, [2 2]
 
the LORD killed every firstborn [3]
in the land of Egypt, [2]
 
from the firstborn of man [2]
to the firstborn of animals; [1]
 
so I sacrifice [4]
to the LORD [3]
 
every firstborn of a womb, [3 3]
the males, [2]
 
but every firstborn of my sons, [2]
I redeem.’ [1]
16 וְהָיָ֤ה לְאוֹת֙ [3] Pashta
עַל־יָ֣דְכָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וּלְטוֹטָפֹ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
בֵּ֣ין עֵינֶ֑יךָ [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֚י [3] Yetiv
בְּחֹ֣זֶק יָ֔ד [2] Zaqef
 
הוֹצִיאָ֥נוּ יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq

on your hand, [2]
 
and for symbols [2]
between your eyes; [1]
 
for [3]
by strength of hand [2]
 
the LORD brought us out [2]
from Egypt.” [1]

בְּשַׁלַּ֣ח פַּרְעֹה֮ [3] Zarqa
אֶת־הָעָם֒ [2] Segol
 
וְלֹא־נָחָ֣ם אֱלֹהִ֗ים [3] Revi'i
דֶּ֚רֶךְ [3] Yetiv
אֶ֣רֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י קָר֖וֹב [2] Tip'cha
ה֑וּא [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֣י ׀ [4] Legarmeh
אָמַ֣ר אֱלֹהִ֗ים [3] Revi'i
 
פֶּֽן־יִנָּחֵ֥ם הָעָ֛ם [3] Tevir
בִּרְאֹתָ֥ם מִלְחָמָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
 
וְשָׁ֥בוּ מִצְרָֽיְמָה׃ [1] Silluq

when Pharaoh had let (them) go, [3]
the people, [2]
 
God did not lead them [3]
along the road [3]
to the land of the Philistines [2]
 
though nearby [2]
it was; [1]
 
for [4]
God said, [3]
 
“Lest the people should reconsider [3]
if they see battle, [2]
 
and they return to Egypt.” [1]
18 וַיַּסֵּ֨ב אֱלֹהִ֧ים ׀ אֶת־הָעָ֛ם [3] Tevir
דֶּ֥רֶךְ הַמִּדְבָּ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
יַם־ס֑וּף [1] Etnachta
 
וַחֲמֻשִׁ֛ים [3] Tevir
עָל֥וּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 18 So God led the people around [3]
by the way of the wilderness [2]
to the Sea of Suf; [1]
 
and armed for battle [3]
the children of Israel went up [2]
from the land of Egypt. [1]
19 וַיִּקַּ֥ח מֹשֶׁ֛ה [3] Tevir
אֶת־עַצְמ֥וֹת יוֹסֵ֖ף [2] Tip'cha
עִמּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
כִּי֩ הַשְׁבֵּ֨עַ הִשְׁבִּ֜יעַ [4] Geresh
אֶת־בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ [3] Pashta
לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
פָּקֹ֨ד יִפְקֹ֤ד אֱלֹהִים֙ [3] Pashta
אֶתְכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וְהַעֲלִיתֶ֧ם אֶת־עַצְמֹתַ֛י [3] Tevir
מִזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אִתְּכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq

the bones of Joseph [2]
with him; [1]
 
for an oath he had made (them) swear, [4]
the children of Israel, [3]
saying, [2]
 
“God will surely visit [3]
you, [2]
 
and you shall carry my bones [3]
from here [2]
with you.” [1]
20 וַיִּסְע֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
מִסֻּכֹּ֑ת [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּחֲנ֣וּ בְאֵתָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
בִּקְצֵ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 20 So they set out [2]
from Succoth; [1]
 
and they camped at Etham, [2]
on the edge [2]
of the wilderness. [1]
21 וַֽיהֹוָ֡ה [4] Pazer
הֹלֵךְ֩ לִפְנֵיהֶ֨ם יוֹמָ֜ם [4] Geresh
בְּעַמּ֤וּד עָנָן֙ [3] Pashta
לַנְחֹתָ֣ם הַדֶּ֔רֶךְ [2] Zaqef
 
וְלַ֛יְלָה [3] Tevir
בְּעַמּ֥וּד אֵ֖שׁ [2] Tip'cha
לְהָאִ֣יר לָהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
לָלֶ֖כֶת [2] Tip'cha
יוֹמָ֥ם וָלָֽיְלָה׃ [1] Silluq

went before them by day [4]
in a pillar of cloud, [3]
to lead them (on) the way, [2]
 
and by night [3]
in a pillar of fire, [2]
to give them light; [1]
 
to go [2]
by day and by night. [1]
22 לֹֽא־יָמִ֞ישׁ [4] Gershayim
עַמּ֤וּד הֶֽעָנָן֙ [3] Pashta
יוֹמָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַמּ֥וּד הָאֵ֖שׁ [2] Tip'cha
לָ֑יְלָה [1] Etnachta
 
לִפְנֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha
הָעָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
