1 וַיִּהְיוּ֙ [3] Pashta חַיֵּ֣י שָׂרָ֔ה [2] Zaqef וְעֶשְׂרִ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha וְשֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֑ים [1] Etnachta חַיֵּ֥י שָׂרָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
1 And it was, [3] the life of Sarah, [2] and twenty years [2] and seven years; [1] of the life of Sarah. [1] |

2 וַתָּ֣מׇת שָׂרָ֗ה [3] Revi'i בְּקִרְיַ֥ת אַרְבַּ֛ע [3] Tevir הִ֥וא חֶבְר֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן [1] Etnachta אַבְרָהָ֔ם [2] Zaqef וְלִבְכֹּתָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
2 And Sarah died [3] at Kiriath Arba, [3] that is Hebron, [2] in the land of Canaan; [1] Abraham, [2] and to weep for her. [1] |

3 וַיָּ֙קׇם֙ [3 3] Pashta אַבְרָהָ֔ם [2] Zaqef פְּנֵ֣י מֵת֑וֹ [1] Etnachta לֵאמֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq |
3 And he rose up, [3 3] Abraham, [2] before his dead; [1] saying, [1] |

4 גֵּר־וְתוֹשָׁ֥ב אָנֹכִ֖י [2] Tip'cha עִמָּכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta עִמָּכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef מִלְּפָנָֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
4 “I am a stranger and a foreigner living [2] with you. [1] with you, [2] from before me.” [1] |

5 וַיַּעֲנ֧וּ בְנֵי־חֵ֛ת [3] Tevir אֶת־אַבְרָהָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha לֵאמֹ֥ר לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
5 And the children of Heth answered [3] Abraham, [2] saying to him, [1] |

6 שְׁמָעֵ֣נוּ ׀ [4] Legarmeh אֲדֹנִ֗י [3] Revi'i בְּתוֹכֵ֔נוּ [2] Zaqef קְבֹ֖ר [2] Tip'cha אֶת־מֵתֶ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta לֹֽא־יִכְלֶ֥ה מִמְּךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha מִקְּבֹ֥ר מֵתֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
6 “Hear us [4] my lord, [3] among us. [2] bury [2] your dead. [1] he will not withhold from you, [2] for burying your dead.” [1] |

7 וַיָּ֧קׇם אַבְרָהָ֛ם [3] Tevir וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ לְעַם־הָאָ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha לִבְנֵי־חֵֽת׃ [1] Silluq |
7 And Abraham rose up [3] and he bowed down to the people of the land, [2] to the children of Heth, [1] |

8 וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר אִתָּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta לִקְבֹּ֤ר אֶת־מֵתִי֙ [3] Pashta מִלְּפָנַ֔י [2] Zaqef וּפִגְעוּ־לִ֖י [2] Tip'cha בְּעֶפְר֥וֹן בֶּן־צֹֽחַר׃ [1] Silluq |
8 and he spoke to them [2] saying; [1] burying my dead [3] from before me, [2] and entreat for me [2] to Ephron the son of Zohar, [1] |

9 וְיִתֶּן־לִ֗י [3] Revi'i אֶת־מְעָרַ֤ת הַמַּכְפֵּלָה֙ [3] Pashta אֲשֶׁר־ל֔וֹ [2] Zaqef בִּקְצֵ֣ה שָׂדֵ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta יִתְּנֶ֥נָּה לִּ֛י [3] Tevir בְּתוֹכְכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha לַאֲחֻזַּת־קָֽבֶר׃ [1] Silluq |
9 that he may give me, [3] the cave of Machpelah [3] which he has, [2] is at the end of his field. [1] let him give it to me [3] among you, [2] as a possession for a burial place.” [1] |

10 וְעֶפְר֥וֹן יֹשֵׁ֖ב [2] Tip'cha בְּת֣וֹךְ בְּנֵי־חֵ֑ת [1] Etnachta בְּאׇזְנֵ֣י בְנֵי־חֵ֔ת [2] Zaqef בָּאֵ֥י שַֽׁעַר־עִיר֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha לֵאמֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq |
10 Now Ephron was sitting [2] among the children of Heth; [1] in the hearing of the children of Heth, [2] who were entering the gate of his city, [2] saying, [1] |

11 לֹֽא־אֲדֹנִ֣י שְׁמָעֵ֔נִי [2] Zaqef נָתַ֣תִּי לָ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef לְךָ֣ נְתַתִּ֑יהָ [1] Etnachta נְתַתִּ֥יהָ לָּ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha קְבֹ֥ר מֵתֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
11 “No my lord, hear me. [2] I give to you, [2] to you I give it. [1] I give it to you. [2] Bury your dead.” [1] |

12 וַיִּשְׁתַּ֙חוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta אַבְרָהָ֔ם [2] Zaqef עַ֥ם הָאָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq |
12 And he bowed down, [3 3] Abraham, [2] the people of the land, [1] |

13 וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר אֶל־עֶפְר֜וֹן [4] Geresh בְּאׇזְנֵ֤י עַם־הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ [3 3] Pashta לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef אִם־אַתָּ֥ה ל֖וּ [2] Tip'cha שְׁמָעֵ֑נִי [1] Etnachta כֶּ֤סֶף הַשָּׂדֶה֙ [3] Pashta קַ֣ח מִמֶּ֔נִּי [2] Zaqef שָֽׁמָּה׃ [1] Silluq |
13 and he spoke to Ephron [4] in the hearing of the people of the land, [3 3] saying, [2] if you will please, [2] hear me. [1] the price of the field. [3] Take it from me, [2] there.” [1] |

14 וַיַּ֧עַן עֶפְר֛וֹן [3] Tevir אֶת־אַבְרָהָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha לֵאמֹ֥ר לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
14 And Ephron answered [3] Abraham, [2] saying to him, [1] |

15 אֲדֹנִ֣י שְׁמָעֵ֔נִי [2] Zaqef בֵּינִ֥י וּבֵֽינְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha מַה־הִ֑וא [1] Etnachta קְבֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq |
15 “My lord, listen to me. [2] between me and you, [2] what is it? [1] bury.” [1] |

16 וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע אַבְרָהָם֮ [3] Zarqa אֶל־עֶפְרוֹן֒ [2] Segol לְעֶפְרֹ֔ן [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֶּ֖ר [2] Tip'cha בְּאׇזְנֵ֣י בְנֵי־חֵ֑ת [1] Etnachta שֶׁ֣קֶל כֶּ֔סֶף [2] Zaqef לַסֹּחֵֽר׃ [1] Silluq |
16 And Abraham listened [3] to Ephron, [2] for Ephron [2] of which he had spoken, [2] in the hearing of the children of Heth; [1] shekels of silver, [2] the current merchants’ standard. [1] |

17 וַיָּ֣קׇם ׀ [4] Legarmeh שְׂדֵ֣ה עֶפְר֗וֹן [3] Revi'i בַּמַּכְפֵּלָ֔ה [2] Zaqef לִפְנֵ֣י מַמְרֵ֑א [1] Etnachta וְהַמְּעָרָ֣ה אֲשֶׁר־בּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef סָבִֽיב׃ [1] Silluq |
17 So it was deeded, [4] the field of Ephron, [3] was in Machpelah, [2] was before Mamre; [1] and the cave which was in it, [2] which was in the field, [2] all around, [1] |

18 לְאַבְרָהָ֥ם לְמִקְנָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לְעֵינֵ֣י בְנֵי־חֵ֑ת [1] Etnachta בָּאֵ֥י שַֽׁעַר־עִירֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
18 to Abraham as a possession [2] in the sight of the children of Heth; [1] who were entering the gate of his city. [1] |

19 וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵן֩ קָבַ֨ר אַבְרָהָ֜ם [4] Geresh אֶת־שָׂרָ֣ה אִשְׁתּ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i שְׂדֵ֧ה הַמַּכְפֵּלָ֛ה [3] Tevir עַל־פְּנֵ֥י מַמְרֵ֖א [2] Tip'cha כְּנָֽעַן׃ [1] Silluq |
19 And after this Abraham buried [4] Sarah his wife, [3] of the field of Machpelah, [3] facing Mamre, [2] of Canaan. [1] |

20 וַיָּ֨קׇם הַשָּׂדֶ֜ה [4] Geresh וְהַמְּעָרָ֧ה אֲשֶׁר־בּ֛וֹ [3] Tevir לְאַבְרָהָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha לַאֲחֻזַּת־קָ֑בֶר [1] Etnachta בְּנֵי־חֵֽת׃ [1] Silluq ס |
20 And the field was deeded [4] and the cave which is in it, [3] to Abraham, [2] as a possession for a burial place; [1] the children of Heth. [1] § |
