1 וַיִּהְיוּ֙ [3] Pashta
חַיֵּ֣י שָׂרָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
מֵאָ֥ה שָׁנָ֛ה [3] Tevir
וְעֶשְׂרִ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וְשֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
שְׁנֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha
חַיֵּ֥י שָׂרָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 2 1 And it was, [3]
the life of Sarah, [2]
 
one hundred years [3]
and twenty years [2]
and seven years; [1]
 
the years [2]
of the life of Sarah. [1]
2 וַתָּ֣מׇת שָׂרָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
בְּקִרְיַ֥ת אַרְבַּ֛ע [3] Tevir
הִ֥וא חֶבְר֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha
בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן [1] Etnachta
 
וַיָּבֹא֙ [3] Pashta
אַבְרָהָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
לִסְפֹּ֥ד לְשָׂרָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וְלִבְכֹּתָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq

at Kiriath Arba, [3]
that is Hebron, [2]
in the land of Canaan; [1]
 
and he went, [3]
Abraham, [2]
 
to mourn for Sarah [2]
and to weep for her. [1]

אַבְרָהָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
מֵעַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
פְּנֵ֣י מֵת֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר אֶל־בְּנֵי־חֵ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq

Abraham, [2]

before his dead; [1]
 
and he spoke to the children of Heth [2]
saying, [1]
4 גֵּר־וְתוֹשָׁ֥ב אָנֹכִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
עִמָּכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
תְּנ֨וּ לִ֤י אֲחֻזַּת־קֶ֙בֶר֙ [3 3] Pashta
עִמָּכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וְאֶקְבְּרָ֥ה מֵתִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
מִלְּפָנָֽי׃ [1] Silluq

with you. [1]
 
Give me a possession of a burying-place [3 3]
with you, [2]
 
that I may bury my dead [2]
from before me.” [1]
5 וַיַּעֲנ֧וּ בְנֵי־חֵ֛ת [3] Tevir
אֶת־אַבְרָהָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹ֥ר לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 5 And the children of Heth answered [3]
Abraham, [2]
saying to him, [1]
6 שְׁמָעֵ֣נוּ ׀ [4] Legarmeh
אֲדֹנִ֗י [3] Revi'i
 
נְשִׂ֨יא אֱלֹהִ֤ים אַתָּה֙ [3] Pashta
בְּתוֹכֵ֔נוּ [2] Zaqef
 
בְּמִבְחַ֣ר קְבָרֵ֔ינוּ [2] Zaqef
קְבֹ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־מֵתֶ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta
 
אִ֣ישׁ מִמֶּ֔נּוּ [2] Zaqef
 
אֶת־קִבְר֛וֹ [3] Tevir
לֹֽא־יִכְלֶ֥ה מִמְּךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
מִקְּבֹ֥ר מֵתֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq

you are a prince of God [3]
among us. [2]
 
In the best of our burial sites, [2]
bury [2]
your dead. [1]
 
Anyone of us, [2]
 
his burial site [3]
he will not withhold from you, [2]
for burying your dead.” [1]
7 וַיָּ֧קׇם אַבְרָהָ֛ם [3] Tevir
וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ לְעַם־הָאָ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha
לִבְנֵי־חֵֽת׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 7 And Abraham rose up [3]
and he bowed down to the people of the land, [2]
to the children of Heth, [1]
8 וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר אִתָּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
אִם־יֵ֣שׁ אֶֽת־נַפְשְׁכֶ֗ם [3] Revi'i
לִקְבֹּ֤ר אֶת־מֵתִי֙ [3] Pashta
מִלְּפָנַ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
שְׁמָע֕וּנִי [2] ZaqefG
וּפִגְעוּ־לִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
בְּעֶפְר֥וֹן בֶּן־צֹֽחַר׃ [1] Silluq

saying; [1]
 
“If your desire is with me in [3]
burying my dead [3]
from before me, [2]
 
hear me, [2]
and entreat for me [2]
to Ephron the son of Zohar, [1]
9 וְיִתֶּן־לִ֗י [3] Revi'i
אֶת־מְעָרַ֤ת הַמַּכְפֵּלָה֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁר־ל֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
בִּקְצֵ֣ה שָׂדֵ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta
 
בְּכֶ֨סֶף מָלֵ֜א [4] Geresh
יִתְּנֶ֥נָּה לִּ֛י [3] Tevir
בְּתוֹכְכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לַאֲחֻזַּת־קָֽבֶר׃ [1] Silluq

the cave of Machpelah [3]
which he has, [2]
 
which [2]
is at the end of his field. [1]
 
For the full price [4]
let him give it to me [3]
among you, [2]
as a possession for a burial place.” [1]
10 וְעֶפְר֥וֹן יֹשֵׁ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
בְּת֣וֹךְ בְּנֵי־חֵ֑ת [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּ֩עַן֩ עֶפְר֨וֹן הַחִתִּ֤י אֶת־אַבְרָהָם֙ [3] Pashta
בְּאׇזְנֵ֣י בְנֵי־חֵ֔ת [2] Zaqef
 
לְכֹ֛ל [3] Tevir
בָּאֵ֥י שַֽׁעַר־עִיר֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 3 10 Now Ephron was sitting [2]
among the children of Heth; [1]
 
and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham [3]
in the hearing of the children of Heth, [2]
 
of all [3]
who were entering the gate of his city, [2]
saying, [1]
11 לֹֽא־אֲדֹנִ֣י שְׁמָעֵ֔נִי [2] Zaqef
 
הַשָּׂדֶה֙ [3] Pashta
נָתַ֣תִּי לָ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef
 
וְהַמְּעָרָ֥ה אֲשֶׁר־בּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
לְךָ֣ נְתַתִּ֑יהָ [1] Etnachta
 
לְעֵינֵ֧י בְנֵי־עַמִּ֛י [3] Tevir
נְתַתִּ֥יהָ לָּ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha
קְבֹ֥ר מֵתֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq

The field [3]
I give to you, [2]
 
and the cave which is in it, [2]
to you I give it. [1]
 
In the sight of the children of my people [3]
I give it to you. [2]

עַ֥ם הָאָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq

the people of the land, [1]
13 וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר אֶל־עֶפְר֜וֹן [4] Geresh
בְּאׇזְנֵ֤י עַם־הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ [3 3] Pashta
לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
אַ֛ךְ [3] Tevir
אִם־אַתָּ֥ה ל֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
שְׁמָעֵ֑נִי [1] Etnachta
 
נָתַ֜תִּי [4] Geresh
כֶּ֤סֶף הַשָּׂדֶה֙ [3] Pashta
קַ֣ח מִמֶּ֔נִּי [2] Zaqef
 
וְאֶקְבְּרָ֥ה אֶת־מֵתִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
שָֽׁמָּה׃ [1] Silluq

“But [3]
if you will please, [2]
hear me. [1]
 
I will give [4]
the price of the field. [3]
Take it from me, [2]
 
and I will bury my dead [2]
there.” [1]
14 וַיַּ֧עַן עֶפְר֛וֹן [3] Tevir
אֶת־אַבְרָהָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹ֥ר לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 14 And Ephron answered [3]
Abraham, [2]
saying to him, [1]
15 אֲדֹנִ֣י שְׁמָעֵ֔נִי [2] Zaqef
 
אֶ֩רֶץ֩ אַרְבַּ֨ע מֵאֹ֧ת שֶֽׁקֶל־כֶּ֛סֶף [3] Tevir
בֵּינִ֥י וּבֵֽינְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
מַה־הִ֑וא [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֶת־מֵתְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
קְבֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 15 “My lord, listen to me. [2]
 
Land worth four hundred shekels of silver [3]
between me and you, [2]
what is it? [1]
 
Therefore your dead, [2]
bury.” [1]
16 וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע אַבְרָהָם֮ [3] Zarqa
אֶל־עֶפְרוֹן֒ [2] Segol
 
וַיִּשְׁקֹ֤ל אַבְרָהָם֙ [3] Pashta
לְעֶפְרֹ֔ן [2] Zaqef
 
אֶת־הַכֶּ֕סֶף [2] ZaqefG
אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֶּ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
בְּאׇזְנֵ֣י בְנֵי־חֵ֑ת [1] Etnachta
 
אַרְבַּ֤ע מֵאוֹת֙ [3] Pashta
שֶׁ֣קֶל כֶּ֔סֶף [2] Zaqef
 
עֹבֵ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
לַסֹּחֵֽר׃ [1] Silluq

and Abraham weighed [3]
for Ephron [2]
 
the silver [2]
of which he had spoken, [2]
in the hearing of the children of Heth; [1]
 
four hundred [3]
shekels of silver, [2]
 
according to [2]
the current merchants’ standard. [1]
17 וַיָּ֣קׇם ׀ [4] Legarmeh
שְׂדֵ֣ה עֶפְר֗וֹן [3] Revi'i
 
אֲשֶׁר֙ [3] Pashta
בַּמַּכְפֵּלָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
לִפְנֵ֣י מַמְרֵ֑א [1] Etnachta
 
הַשָּׂדֶה֙ [3] Pashta
וְהַמְּעָרָ֣ה אֲשֶׁר־בּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וְכׇל־הָעֵץ֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּכׇל־גְּבֻל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
סָבִֽיב׃ [1] Silluq

בָּאֵ֥י שַֽׁעַר־עִירֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

in the sight of the children of Heth; [1]

19 וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵן֩ קָבַ֨ר אַבְרָהָ֜ם [4] Geresh
אֶת־שָׂרָ֣ה אִשְׁתּ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i
 
אֶל־מְעָרַ֞ת [4] Gershayim
שְׂדֵ֧ה הַמַּכְפֵּלָ֛ה [3] Tevir
עַל־פְּנֵ֥י מַמְרֵ֖א [2] Tip'cha
 
הִ֣וא חֶבְר֑וֹן [1] Etnachta
 
בְּאֶ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha

Sarah his wife, [3]
 
in the cave [4]
of the field of Machpelah, [3]
facing Mamre, [2]
 
that is, Hebron; [1]

וְהַמְּעָרָ֧ה אֲשֶׁר־בּ֛וֹ [3] Tevir
